Ask away, whether it's OPK's, LH, Temping (BBT), Surges, lines, DPO's, ask away, I have worked for the big boys of fertility and some of the smaller ones....

Thank you! I'll see how it goes and then decide on further steps

@EvelineUK amazing thread thank you! I have a question - I had a miscarriage and d&c a while ago, and ovulated before I got my first period. Fast forward to now, I'm on my second cycle to try again, but I've currently had 6 days of flashing smiley on OPK. This is a lot - prior to the d&c I had 2 days of flashing and then solid.

How many days should I use OPK for to hold out for my solid? Or can I ovulate without getting the solid smiley? I have had EWCM and am also temping, temps still low (however my temp rise is quite slow after ovulation, a few days).

EvelineUK · 05/08/2019 17:21

@Makingawish well then fingers crossed, hope you're on the folic acid as well, and remember to get your DP to read up on sperm health.

@SunStruck
OK.. so 6 days flashing is a lot, I wonder if your LH rise is a little low and therefore was not picked up as a peak around day 4, if you are not seeing the temp rise or EWCM to confirm ovulation, it may just be that this was a non ov month. If it was you first time or you were very irregular I would say 6 to 8 tests, but once you get regular you should only need 4 or 5 tests to pinpoint ovulation. If you are getting the flashing but not the solid I would work with that and try to DTD on day 1,3,5 to be sure. Hope this helps.

Oooh the other thing is, are you doing the test around midday or first of the morning, that can give false positives (overnight concentration)

@EvelineUK thanks sooo much! Yes so we're started out by dtd everyday because I thought I'd only get 2 flashing smileys and then solid, but now we'e doing every other day. Hopefully won't miss O this way! I will hold off for 2 more days doing OPK just in case.

Hi @ me again, I posted earlier in he thread. So I am 4dpo as confirmed by a static on Wednesday morning, on Saturday night at 2DPO I had some pink cm, then brown yesterday and a fair bit of brown today! Similar experience to what I had with implantation both times I’ve been pregnant. What is the likelihood that I ovulated earlier than my static or more likely just random bleeding from miscarriage still, I am CD23 today. So confused Confused

EvelineUK · 05/08/2019 19:17

@Bumpingalong84

The better kits are 99% accurate and tested to high standards in multiple clinical trials, so if you have a positive, you have had an LH surge, whether or not an egg was released is another question, and something that can only be answered with successful conception. In terms of the CM colour, do you feel like AF is coming tomorrow, any other symptoms? That would be an incredibly short window from ovulation to period. I would hang in there and let what will be happen... Sorry I can't be more definite, but wait for clear signs your period has started before giving up, stress and worry are not good bed fellows with conception and successful implantation, the more you worry the more your immune system is likely to be overly sensitive.

Let me know how you get on. x

Thanks @EvelineUK I did think they are pretty accurate and with so many flashing smileys before my static then the dark cheapie it must have been accurate. If the spotting was a week later I would have put my bed on implantation, just thrown me it’s too early for that. Could I have ovulated the day of my peak and started fertilisation that day as had several days covered with dtd before hand? Would still only make me 5dpo so still would be too early. Who knows. No other really symptoms, maybe sore boobs but don’t know if that’s my imagination.

I’ll let you know how I get on Smile

Mycrazylife85 · 05/08/2019 23:00

Thank you @EvelineUK for taking the time to reply to us all. It has certainly been a long time settling down for me. I waited 76 days, 56 then 44. I have only ever had one very obvious positive on the 56 day cycle. This came at day 43.

However the following month my darkest (but not positive OPK) was also 13 days before my period and I guessed I'd missed it. I wondered if I'm not ovulating too but thought the 13 day is quite a coincidence. I'm only day 25 so I've probably got a wait.

I have been using OPK since about day 13 but not drinking much when it is hot had proved tricky as I drink a lot of water ordinarily. I think that hasn't helped.

EvelineUK · 06/08/2019 11:25

@ Mycrazylife85

Why are you not drinking water? Who told you not to drink while testing? If you're not drinking you are concentrating your urine and more likely to see a false positive?

OP posts:
EvelineUK · 06/08/2019 11:28

@Bumpingalong84 The peak LH result is essentially the day your egg is released, as I told someone on here earlier you can still get conception dtd before the peak, you're just more likely to conceive a girl (apparently).

So fingers crossed this is the month for you. Extra baby dust on your cornflakes x

Thanks @EvelineUK 5dpo today and the spotting appears to have stopped, roll on next week and hopefully a bfp! I have a nearly 4yr old girl so would love a sister for her not that I’d really really care of course. Just a sibling would be lovely

EvelineUK · 06/08/2019 11:41

All fingers and toes crossed for you :)

Morning! I using CB advance opk's. I had 2 days blank circle and then straight to Solid smile. Is that normal? I also used ovulation strips and it seems to be in line, but why no flashing?!

Bumpingalong84 · 06/08/2019 12:22

.

Mycrazylife85 · 06/08/2019 13:44

@EvelineUK I do drink, but on all tests I have used it says to limit the intake. I drink about 2/3 litres of water plus other drinks so I just have a few drinks in the afternoon now instead of big flasks of water. I think I'm either missing ovulation or I'm just not ovulating. The only symptoms I get are twinges in my ovary but I guess it doesn't mean anything is coming of it. I don't have sore boobs. Just nothing other than twinges before a period. Feeling a bit bummed by it really

EvelineUK · 06/08/2019 14:11

@HGpg
LH rises are not necessarily a 24hr change thing, you obviously hit the end of the low LH on day 2 and the start of the peak on day 3, it's pretty normal, the 'high' does make it easier to pln dtd, but nothing there to worry about.

Gotcha, unfortunately I can only advise patience in this case, what will be, will be. x

@EvelineUK I have a question if that's ok please used cb opk for the first time this month took first one cd 11 it was blank cd 12 (yesterday) was flashing and cd 13 today was static

1- Isit normal to only get one flashing day?
2- they say once you see static ovulation is in the next 24-48 hours so when so I class it as for my apps today or tomorrow ?

3- only going to be able to dtd tomorrow early evening is there even a slight chance I could still catch or should I just switch off this month and try again next month?

4- if we do dtd tomorrow would I still be at all fertile on Friday / Saturday worth doing then too ?

Thank you in advance xx

EvelineUK · 07/08/2019 10:02

@mrssunshinexxx
Hi, yes it can happen, the surge and how it is seen by digital OPK's can vary. The CB ones have a fixed algorythm, which means it looks for a certain amount of LH in the sample to equate to start, peak, end of the surge. If your LH is a little low it may miss the first day or so, and only pick up when you are near peak and peak. Some of the newer tests have apps that accommodate your baseline LH and adjust accordingly.

In this case day 13 was your peak ovulation day (pink test?) tomorrow you may catch it, by the weekend you will certainly have missed it. By tracking your ovulation the aim is to get ahead of the curve to maximise your chances so you would go for day 11,12,13 if possible.

Hope this helps. x
