Ask away, whether it's OPK's, LH, Temping (BBT), Surges, lines, DPO's, ask away, I have worked for the big boys of fertility and some of the smaller ones....

Sorry that was @Mystie
Stupid no edit function thing.... :)

@EvelineUK thanks for replying! Just did another test and it was a low 0.21 so pretty sure that was my surge. Will keep DTD and hope for the best!

EvelineUK · 04/11/2019 18:07

@MummyJasmin
So.. I'm never a big fan of the cheapo's for exactly this reason. Bottom line is that the test line looks lighter (on my screen) than the control line on all of those, so it's entirely possible you missed the bus this month, sorry. The good news is you seem to have a healthy level of LH so should see a clear surge, assuming of course you don't have PCOS which can also show as a high constant LH level? :/
Up to you, but I would use a better kit cd10-14 next month ;)

Fair enough, fingers crossed and baby dust for you both x

@EvelineUK is it possible to have 2 surges in the month if the egg isn't developed enough to be released this early?

MapleLeaff · 04/11/2019 18:16

Hi @EvelineUK

I have pcos and have had 5 months treatment with metformin to bring my hormones into range. My testosterone and Androgen index are now in range and I have also started my period after a very long time.

The only thing I don't know about is the progesterone levels (got the blood form, need to get it done) and high AMH levels.

What are your initial thoughts please? Do you think my AMH levels will have gone down after my period? Do you think I'm ovulating? Here is a photo attached where I had a gut feeling I was ovulating and here are the tests within two days, then two weeks later I started my period.

Thanks so much in advance

@Ellsbells112
Sounds and looks like you must have ovulated cd15, it's unlucky that you didn't conceive (make sure you are clued up on maximising sperm health). Pain just before ovulation is not unheard of, positionally it is generally low in the abdomen and the side can correspond to whichever ovary is ovulating, usually the day before or the day of ovulation.
you sound like you are ovulating which is great, I would recommend if you're not doing it already to use a good OPK to pinpoint the actual day of release to be absolutely sure.

OP posts:
EvelineUK · 04/11/2019 18:45

@Mystie
I've not heard of that no... I will have to read up to be sure, but it sounds unlikely, once the process starts and egg is either released or it isn't, I've not heard of secondary ovulation... off to research :)

OP posts:
EvelineUK · 04/11/2019 18:52

@MapleLeaff

Your AMH levels shouldn't go down that much as they are more indicative of egg store, rather than anything hormonal. Looking at your LH tests only the last one look like it could be positive as it is the only one where the test line is as dark as, or darker than the control line (but that is a little light)
So far so good, keep up the LH, maybe temp around those days as well, to see if you get a temp rise just after?

Fingers crossed, good to hear the treatment has helped. x

@EvelineUK thank you for replying. I had been using the ovulation tests which were showing that I was ovulating but stopped using them a while back as I was becoming so disheartened at not falling pregnant. I might give them another try now that I've had my surgery and see what happens.

Ellsbells112 · 04/11/2019 20:49

Thank you for your time, just one more question please🙏 my right side where I was getting the ovulation pain is now constantly hurting, especially when I walk around, kind of like a constant stitch. Is that like a cyst or something?

EvelineUK · 04/11/2019 21:25

@Ellsbells112

Constant pain could be any number of things, you really should see your doctor for that...

@EvelineUK Thanks so much Flowers

Any particular brand of OPK tests you'd recommend - decent but not too pricey?
Don't have PCOS (as far as I am aware) - periods are very regular and cycle length 28days. I have an 18 mo which I became pregnant with after trying for 3 months, so not too long, this time just over 6 mths...argh.

AdalbertWaffling · 05/11/2019 10:37

Hi @EvelineUK I hope you don't mind me jumping on this thread? This my first month of tracking my temperature and it seems to be all over the place! I got a positive OPK on Sunday, so thought I would have ovulated yesterday, but it doesn't look like it from my temps? We dtd on Sunday night and Monday morning, but fell asleep early last night so nothing then. I'm now worried I've missed the boat if I'm actually going to ovulate today?

EvelineUK · 05/11/2019 23:06

@MummyJasmin
Unfortunately forum rules state I can't advertise any particular brand, but if you are just starting out, I would always recommend a reader based OPK.

OP posts:
EvelineUK · 05/11/2019 23:10

@AdalbertWaffling
Jump away :)

To successfully Temp, I would recommend you try to temp daily from cd8 to cd18, so that's 8 days after your period STARTS for 10 days. Otherwise, as you can see it is difficult to see what's happening. Also you should note that the temp rise always comes AFTER you ovulate, so it gives you an idea for next month, rather than telling you when to dtd this month.
For advanced warning go for OPK's as they give you a high the day before and a peak on the day the egg should be released.

@EvelineUK thanks for all the wonderfully wise advice on here!

I’m unsure what’s happening with my cycle. Usually ovulate day 12/13 of a 27 day cycle (like clockwork since 7 months after my last baby, so just over a year, even though I breastfed til after age 1).

Last cycle i ovulated day 11.

CD 9 today and I have the most EWCM I’ve ever had! And almost positive OPK.

If this a bad sign? Ovulating too early (am 40).

Livingmagicallyagain · 06/11/2019 10:16

Ps I also temp, still below the cover line.

TunnocksTcake · 06/11/2019 12:43

Hi @EvelineUK, bit of a strange one this month... I temp and use CB digi advanced (purple ones). I had 7 days of 'high' before my Peak on Sunday 3rd, and had loads of EWCM throughout the week which is unusual for me but a very welcome & good sign. I also have had some twinges on my Left side Yesterday and Today. The thing is, I still haven't had my Temp spike, is it likely this is anovulatory or could my spike still be to come at 3 days after first peak? It went up on 5th Nov but only by 0.15 Deg C and has dipped slightly (0.05 deg C) Today. Possible slow rise or am I clutching at straws?!
Thanks in Advance.

EvelineUK · 07/11/2019 12:12

@Livingmagicallyagain
Ovulating early is not a sign of menopause as far as I know, shortening cycles or irregular cycles may well be. Are your periods shorter or is ovulation happening soon after they stop?

OP posts:
EvelineUK · 07/11/2019 12:17

@TunnocksTcake
The BBT rise occurs as progesterone is produced as the egg leaves, so a temp rise is a good indicator that ovulation occurred. As I understand it, different people get their rises at different times within 48 hours of the 'egg leaving'. No rise is a reasonable (technique depending) sign the ovulation this month didn't include an egg release.

hope this makes sense, but be assured it is entirely normal to ovulate without and actual egg release every once in a while. Plus you saw a slight rise, so keep the faith x

OP posts:
TunnocksTcake · 07/11/2019 12:49

@EvelineUK Thank you! I got a much more satisfactory rise today and crosshairs from FF today so feeling much better now. Just need to stay calm during the TWW!

Livingmagicallyagain · 07/11/2019 12:58

@EvelineUK Thank you.

My luteal phase is always 14 days, so if I ovulate 2 days early, then my whole cycle is two days early.

I think I have ovulated, day 9/10, and so conception is pretty much impossible this cycle?

I have read it's a sign I don't have many eggs left, and the ones I do have won't be mature enough to conceive. Such a worry!

EvelineUK · 08/11/2019 09:29

@Livingmagicallyagain
May be worth gettimg your AMH (Anti Muller Hormone) checked to see how your stores are looking...
