@Scarletrose18 - I did my DD was born January she was fine coz she was bf for 6 months didn't get a cold or anything I had my flu jab when I was pg too - it's amazing how boobs determine from you baby's saliva if they are deficient in any antibodies then creates them so they pass to you baby in the breast milk - my Dr said that any antibodies my body would have created against a cold would have passed to the baby if my body detected that she needed them!!! Xx

Cocobana · 16/05/2019 08:01

@scarletrose18 ds was born at the end of February and didn’t catch any colds or anything at the time. You could argue that was right before Spring though. My friends baby was born in October however and was plagued with a nasty cold when she was a newborn the poor little mite but they all had it so it was envitable. I think all babies and circumstances are different.I haven’t thought about a December baby and the risk of more things so that’s a very good question.

MummyBearBoo · 16/05/2019 16:59

Just been booked in with the midwife I'm either due end of December and am 7 weeks + 3 or an 5 weeks + 3 and due in January xx

Scarletrose18 · 16/05/2019 19:04

@mummyb Yes I have heard that, quite amazing how the human body is designed isnt it.
They are 2 quite different dates, Im sure you will be glad to find out one way or another

@coco Thats good that your ds didnt get sick, still alot of colds in Feb. You breastfed too didnt you? Maybe thats the key to it 🙂

It's coz of my cycle length I base it on 2 weeks before I think I ovulated they base it it on LMP which is 2 weeks earlier I'll find out for sure on my dating scan xx

Cocobana · 16/05/2019 20:56

@Scarletrose18 yes I did but only for 6 months, I was convinced when I stopped that ds would catch everything going and would get so upset but he’s only had one proper cold since birth and that was quite recently. This makes me think they’re just all different no matter the feeding choice. I think it depends on the situation and who they come into contact with because my friend’s newborn was surrounded by sick people.
It’s so worrying those early days isn’t it? I was so relieved once ds had all his injections and things.

MummyBearBoo · 16/05/2019 22:49

As soon as I stopped breast feeding my DD got a cold then a tummy bugs then chicken pox than a sticky eye!! But tho I still had tonnes of milk it just didn't fill her up she was ready for food I'd been giving her baby rice since 4 months anyway and i got to the point where she was just having breast milk in the night but then she stopped waking for night feeds xx

HJWT · 17/05/2019 10:27

My DD was born beginning of Sept was breastfed and got a cold when she was around 2 weeks! It was a rough time 🤧 DS will be born in October so I will be stocking up on hand sanitiser and Dettol spray! 😂 people won't mind cleaning there hands and spraying their clothes before they hold baby will they!? 😬

MummyBearBoo · 17/05/2019 12:30

@HJWT no I insisted everyone at least washed their hands before holding DD! Xx

MummyBearBoo · 17/05/2019 18:50

Hey how is everyone?! Xx

HJWT · 17/05/2019 19:25

@MummyBearBoo I am good! Thanks how are you? I got my silicone 'breast pump' today you put it on your boob when baby feeds on the other side and some women say it collects 4oz in 10 minutes! 😂 silly the things mums get excited over xx

MummyBearBoo · 18/05/2019 00:19

I really like tommee tippee electric one could get 12 oz from one side in about 15 mins at most!

HJWT · 18/05/2019 08:19

@MummyBearBoo its not actually a pump it just suctions to your breast when you feed! Hoping to avoid actual pumping this time round xx

MummyBearBoo · 18/05/2019 10:35

That's better than ending up with a huge wet patch when you're feeding on the other boob it's quite a good idea!!

Scarletrose18 · 21/05/2019 20:03

I dont know why sometimes I get notifications for this and sometimes I dont!

@coco thats interesting about the colds/flus. I guess you have to be really strict on ppl visitng not being sick and washing hands etc as its that time of year. Even dressing dc2 will be so diff. Ds lived in vests his first 2 months as was so hot just thinking we will all need to invest in some newborn fur coats and booties 😂

@mummyb im ok, still have nausea pn and off which is just getting irritating now lol. But it could be worse I suppose. How are u feeling now?

@hjwt yes i have heard of these, actually from my mum, she used a thing called a milk cup when feeding us and it ws just a little cup that sat in bra and collected excess milk. can I ask details about which one u got etc? U do loose alot of milk on other side so its a great idea and if not too expensive, i think I will get one

Just feeling sick in the afternoon, sore boobs and extreme tiredness so not too bad all in all def better than last time where I felt sick all day and passed out twice coz I couldn't eat!! Hope everyone else is doing ok! Xx

MummyBearBoo · 22/05/2019 20:36

Hey ladies goes is everyone getting on @PastaSauceHoarder everything going ok with you? Xx

PastaSauceHoarder · 24/05/2019 14:20

I'm alright thank you @MummyBearBoo, I had my booking appointment on Tuesday and explained my situation to the midwife, she seems really nice and understanding. She asked if I wanted to make an appointment for 16 weeks and I refused, but she totally got why and was really good about it.

I have a viability scan next Thursday. Got a letter through today confirming 12 week scan at the end of June and I just feel sick. It really panicked me, I just want to take it one day at a time.

How are the rest of you? I really don't think I can engage in happy pregnancy chat but I'm definitely here on the sidelines to cheer you all on!

MummyBearBoo · 24/05/2019 18:45

@PastaSauceHoarder - I'm kinda in the same situation I can't celebrate being pregnant til I know if I can keep my baby! I've only got a 50/50 chance of being able to keep it I find out around 11 weeks so just before end of June and the CVS carries a 1% miscarriage risk for 2 weeks after -so if everything goes ok up to week 13 then I can celebrate being pregnant tho you don't stop worrying til they're In your arms then you have a whole new set of worries! Fingers crossed for us all xx

MummyBearBoo · 25/05/2019 09:44

Oh ladies need to offload I am so frickin stressed!!! I can't eat in a morning or evening and I am so stressing about that 11 week test I just wanna know! I know stress isn't good for the baby so I need to chill out but why are the days lasting like a month!! They are dragging so much why so slow!!!!!! Oh my god I am going to go crazy I can't even go to the gym coz I feel so shit in the morning going to gym without breakfast is suicide! Even my scan on 11th June seems so long away - I know I'm happy that I'm pregnant bur I need to know if I'm gonna be pregnant later In the year or not so I can plan stuff! Sorry for the rant!! Xx

MummyBearBoo · 25/05/2019 20:53

Which ante natal groups have you guys joined? Xx

Scarletrose18 · 25/05/2019 21:51

@pasta I hope the viability scan gives you a little reassurance. Thats good that you have a nice supportive midwife, that makes a big difference.

@mummyb when do u find out which dates are correct? Morning sickness sucks, I think this wee quote is pretty fitting 🙂
Things went super slow for me until just recently as well and I think @coco was saying before that she felt the same. I hope time speeds up and u get happy news soon!
Im not on any anti-natal groups

Love your quote @Scarletrose18 and I agree that morning sickness sucks. Exactly I think it drags until the scan and it’s a very anxious wait. How are you? How was your scan?

Cocobana · 26/05/2019 11:32

Oh and I’m not on any antenatal groups either.

Cocobana · 26/05/2019 11:38

Hope all you ladies are doing well and feeling a little better. x
