New Year, new thread! 🍾🥂

Basically: a wonderful bunch of ladies supporting each other through the TTC journey when trying for a first baby after 35.

Here's hoping 2019 brings some BFP luck to us all!! 🍀🤞🏻🍀🤞🏻

👍👍@BambiOnIce80 to be honest, there's probably less harmful bacteria in a sealed bottle of my wee than there was in the bottles of river water I found in the communal fridge that one of my housemates had put there when I was an undergrad! 🤢

VenusStarr · 11/02/2019 17:28

Lots of messages! I'll pop back on later properly but just wanted a moan. Called the GP and our referral hasn't even been sent! The secretary has left for the day but they can see a note on my file that we requested the referral be sent off with dh's results attached but it appears nothing has been done 😔 I'll chase up tomorrow. Ugh.

BambiOnIce80 · 11/02/2019 17:46

Absolutely true @Weathergirl1 👍 Definitely going to be more Weil's disease in river water than any of our wee samples! 🐀🤮

That absolutely sucks @VenusStarr! 🙁💐 Moan away! I hope they'll be sending it off tomorrow??

@VenusStarr urgh that's annoying. Our GP surgery is rubbish at referrals too so I can partly empathise (although ours weren't fertility-related one was for the breast clinic when I had a rather large strange bruise and the receptionist at the hospital told me to chase them up as they hadn't received anything - all rather stressful!!).

Carley32 · 11/02/2019 18:22

Sorry about af @PixieN and @Guaccamole. I’ve told just 2ofmy closest friends IRL one of which has had ivf, because I was feeling loopy and needed to let it all out. Their not intrusive at all though so it’s nice that I only talk about it on my terms.

@kescilly it’s tilted I meant 🙄. Can’t work out weather it was predicted text or the ttc baby brain I seem to have lately.

I seriously need to stop obsessing over it all now. It’s literally making me crazy.

@BambiOnIce80 aw no I hope it’s not another weird cycle for you. 🤞 your temp was up due to a different reason and Ov is on it’s way.

@QuantumGirl sounds exciting. I am tentatively happy for you. 🤞 for that without a doubt BFP.

@Weathergirl1 I am doing the IC too. Because I needed a back up. My second line has been up and down on them so maybe my cycle is a weird one.

I had a positive on Wednesday on the IC then nothing then an almost positive on Sat and yest. Then a faint second line today. Along with (TMI) lots of ewcm for 3 days now 🤔.

Blondcat · 11/02/2019 18:23

Congratulations @pattyhoo fingers crossed for a happy healthy pregnancy.

@quantumgirl good luck for the testing.

VenusStarr · 11/02/2019 18:54

I'm back for a proper catch up, might have to do 2 replies as I'm on my phone...

Sorry to hear af arrived @Guaccamole, it is horrible being on the hope roller-coaster. Hope you're OK.

So happy for you @pattyhoo glad your tests are darker 😊

Sorry your cycles appear to be acting strangely @BambiOnIce80. Ewcm is a good sign though. Not sure about your temps but I'd go with what your body is telling you. I can't remember if you've said how long your luteal phase is? My sister has / had short cycles of 20-21 days and has 2 little ones so it's no necessarily a negative.

How have you not tested again @QuantumGirl after your faint line? Sorry to hear you're in limbo though. Hope you get a clear result when you test again. Did you track ovulation? Maybe it was late this month?

Hope you're OK @Kescilly, how far along are you now?

Think I'm in the tww too @Weathergirl1 although I had more ewcm today on cd 14 and I usually ovulate around cd11-13.

VenusStarr · 11/02/2019 19:00

Ps thank you @BambiOnIce80 and @Weathergirl1. I'm calling back tomorrow to speak to the secretary. The only thing I can think is they don't accept the private SA results but annoying they didn't call to say anything. Dh still has his nhs one booked in a month anyway and was always going to attend that.

I feel surprisingly calm about it and just a bit miffed - which is strange considering how devestated I have been recently.

Had a rough day, I run psycho education sessions and a participant had a fit and I was with her on my own. Very scary. They're OK but it felt like a lifetime waiting for the ambulance. Had to to back and finish the session after! Feeling shattered now. The builders are still here. The kitchen has been delivered, there's so much! I can't access the fridge now 🙄 dying for a cuppa. Have instructed dh to bring us one home later.... Won't be until 10ish though.

Sorry tor the mammoth posts!

79andnotout · 11/02/2019 20:31

Wah @QuantumGirl exciting! Dunno how you can not test again, I'd be straight out to the supermarket. Fingers crossed for a stronger line.

@BambiOnIce80 pretty sure you're going to have a normal cycle. Temp can just fluctuate around a bit, unless yours is way more stable than mine, and I'm doing it wrong. Can you do an overlay and compare with previous cycles?

@VenusStarr it's probably just your surgery being crap. I have this with my clinic, takes them ages to actually put stuff in envelopes.

79andnotout · 11/02/2019 20:32

Sorry for the AF @Guaccamole - it's shit.

Carley32 · 12/02/2019 07:10

Well after 13 days I have a static smiley on the CB advanced 🤔 I’m just going to roll with it and not get Annoyed at the irregularity of my cycles lol.

BambiOnIce80 · 12/02/2019 07:53

Sorry to hear you had a stressful day yesterday @VenusStarr 💐 That's interesting about your sisters short cycles and success TTC - I think my LP on the short cycle was 10 days, so short but not impossible for implantation I guess 🤔 It's great that you're not so stressed about the mess up with the referral at the GP's👍 I think I've chilled out a lot more since my initial appointment because it's sunk in that it's going to be a looooong and winding road to IVF... and I'm alright with that (for now, anyway! 😄).

Thank you once again for the reality check @79andnotout ❤️ Is there any chance you could come and live near me?! 😂 Could do with an IRL friend to keep me from disappearing up my own arse with the worrying! 🙄 My temp very kindly illustrated your point this morning by going back down to the 36.30's, seemingly just to keep me guessing 😏 Yesterday my chart was looking near enough the same as the previous short cycle and nothing like the normal month before that (this is only my third cycle of temping 🌡️😬). Now it looks like neither, so I just need to chill out, go with the flow and see what transpires 👍 Still a bit concerned that the strongest coloured OPK I've had so far was CD7 (I'm CD12 now), but whatev's 🤷‍♀️

Well, congrats on the static smiley @Carley32! 🎉👏🎉👏 Sounds like DP returned home just at the right time!😉 You're right - try not to stress about your cycles regulating. They're getting there and you are ovulating by the sounds of things so you've every chance of that BFP.x

OP posts:
QuantumGirl · 12/02/2019 08:13

That's great news @Carley32. When was your last period? See? You can't go wrong with ewcm. Who needs Opk? 🤭🤐😬

Pinkywoo · 12/02/2019 09:39

Congratulations @pattyhoo! Flowers

@QuantumGirl you have more willpower than me if you haven't tested again, I'm cd27 (10dpo) and caved this morning and I think there's a ghost of a line but I could be imagining it, we'll see.

VenusStarr · 12/02/2019 10:28

Have spoken to the secretary. The reason the referral hasn't been sent is the GP hasnt looked at it 🙄 great. She said she'd give him a nudge. Lovely. Our fertility journey is literally in your hands. I'm going to have to be one of those patients aren't I? I'm probably going to book an appointment to follow it up. I still getting ewcm on cd15 so think I'll be late this month too.

Fingers crossed that shadow gets darker @Pinkywoo!

How you feeling @QuantumGirl?

QuantumGirl · 12/02/2019 11:01

Thank you for asking ladies. @Pinkywoo best of luck to you.
Just been to boots in the city and no frer in stock. Got a digital clear blue, tested at 9:30am (not FMU) it was negative. I was feeling so calm and cool yesterday but today I feel quite anxious and borderline tearful 😢 I suppose you can't see a line on this pic, can you?

35+ TTC#1 Thread 5
79andnotout · 12/02/2019 11:16

I can see a line there @QuantumGirl. Those clear blue ones are notoriously insensitive. Any idea when you ovulated? Hunt down a FRER and do that tomorrow with FMU. Definitely nothing worth crying over at the moment, you've got no answers yet!

@BambiOnIce80 - ha yes that is exactly my role in my real life friends. No nonsense practical advice is my speciality (sympathy and biscuits not so much, although maybe one day I can learn those skills). Anyway, woman, you need a bigger sample size than 3 cycles - monitor and chill for now.

@VenusStarr - that is what I suspected. My experience with the clinics has been exactly the same. There's no sense of hurry at all (my theory is this is deliberate due to overstretched resources and the hope that problems resolve themselves in time without intervention).

Oooh good luck @Pinkywoo - a triple whammy this week would be great. Fingers crossed for all of you!

Weathergirl1 · 12/02/2019 12:59

@QuantumGirl not that I'm that experience in line spotting but there does appear to be something there from what I can see! 🍀

BambiOnIce80 · 12/02/2019 12:59

Oooh @Pinkywoo, that sounds very hopeful! 🤞🏻🍀When are you going to test again?

I know, I know @79andnotout - you're absolutely right and 2 and a bit temp charts is too small of a sample size for comparison (especially when one of the 2 is a flyer 🙄). I have mentally slapped myself accordingly 🤪🤚

Right @QuantumGirl. First off, it's totally understandable that you're tearful and I defy anyone else not to be the same when they're 7 days late and there was a shadow of a line. Agree with @79andnotout - those CB digitals are notoriously insensitive (I think they need about 25IU of hCG to get a BFP, so no good for very early pregnancy). Is the FRER pic the one you took at the weekend that flooded? If so, I'll put my lab scientist head on and go with the science of the test. To my eye (and I'm 💩 at 'line eyes', so I could absolutely be wrong!) I'm not sure if there's colour to that line, although there's definitely a line that's visible. If there's no colour, it could be an evap. If there is a tiny bit of colour, you've got a couple of testing scenarios at play; first, it could be a straightforward very early pregnancy. The second scenario comes into play because the test was flooded. If you accidentally flood a test, then the urine is moving up, down and round the 'filter paper', when in a valid test it only moves in one direction - away from the test line and towards the control line. Because flooding the window can cause the urine to flow backwards from the control line towards the test line, there's a possibility that small amounts of the control line hCG has washed back onto the test line, if that makes sense? I'm very much keeping everything crossed that the first scenario is the correct one in your case and it's very early pregnancy! I'm waiting with baited breath for tomorrow's FRER result! 🤞🏻🍀🤞🏻🍀

Pinkywoo · 12/02/2019 14:49

Thanks for crossed fingers everyone, @BambiOnIce80 I'd love to say I'll wait a few days but lets be honest, it'll be every day until I get a bfp or AF!

@Quantumgirl I definitely see a line!

@VenusStarr don't be embarrassed to be "one of those patients", be a pain in their arse until it's done!

QuantumGirl · 12/02/2019 15:03

Thank you all for your advices and suggestions my lovelies. I have armed myself with 2 frers and a pot ready for tomorrow morning wee wee test. Que será será 🙂

@79andnotout I'm also the non nonsense one IRL (I had a 5 min wobble earlier but I'm back to normal 'Gangsta' now). 😅

Weathergirl1 · 12/02/2019 15:33

Ooh I'm getting all excited about seeing some tests tomorrow now! @QuantumGirl & @Pinkywoo 😁🍀🍀🍀

Carley32 · 12/02/2019 21:06

@BambiOnIce80 he certainly did! 🤞 it was meant to be 😊.

@Pinkywoo sending lots of luck 🍀. All these lines are very exciting. Can’t wait to see what the news @QuantumGirl have for us tomorrow 🤞🍀

@QuantumGirl very true bloody opks cause more stress than it’s worth. I’m on CD26.
I can definitely see a slight line there too. 🤞 for you.

PixieN · 12/02/2019 22:38

Oohhh - don’t log on for a bit and it’s all happening! Looks very promising @QuantumGirl Fingers crossed for you and @pinkywoo 🤞💕 I don’t understand any of the science stuff @BambiOnIce but sounds impressive 😁

Glad you finally got your static smiley @Carley32

@VenusStarr sorry about the delay with your referral. Keep chasing x

PixieN · 12/02/2019 22:44

No nonsense sounds good @79andnotout Think i’m more the biscuits (or make that wine and chocolate) sympathy person lol 😁
