New Year, new thread! 🍾πŸ₯‚

Basically: a wonderful bunch of ladies supporting each other through the TTC journey when trying for a first baby after 35.

Here's hoping 2019 brings some BFP luck to us all!! πŸ€πŸ€žπŸ»πŸ€πŸ€žπŸ»

11DPO
I swore I wasn't going to test until I was late this month but I caved this morning.
I know this is one of those early tests so may not end up sticky, but I guess it's nice to know my insides are somewhat working.
I think AF would be due any time in the next 2-4 days.
I've been quite calm in this 2ww as I've been so busy but I had a few symptoms, like tender breasts (normally only happens near AF for me) and on Tues and weds this week I was SO HOT in the office! And I was cooking mushrooms and pancetta the other day in a pasta and it smelled strongly of poo to me.
I'm pretty sceptical this this is it. Also, terrified!

@BambiOnIce80 my CB adv OPK says I'm still high and not peak...last cycle I had a few dips below 36.00, so perhaps it's a sign of gearing up. No signs of fertile CM either. πŸ€”

Does sound high for one glass of wine. Do you use the IC OPK's?

Amanda81 · 25/01/2019 09:47

@Beeseeinya πŸ€—πŸ€— congratulations, that's defo a line! Fx for a sticky one

BambiOnIce80 · 25/01/2019 09:56

OMG @Beeseeinya!! 🀩 Congratulations!! πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰ Having that little break from TTC looks to have been very successful! πŸ˜‚ Keeping everything crossed for a sticky bean 🀞🏻 πŸ€

I do indeed use the IC OPK's (they were about Β£8 for 50 of them so I can POAS as many of them as I like a day πŸ˜„). Combined with the temping they worked really well last cycle, but this cycle... πŸŒ‘οΈπŸ€·β€β™€οΈπŸ€¦β€β™€οΈ

Congratulations @Beeseeinya, that's a nice solid line there! Fingers crossed for a happy and healthy pregnancy.

@BambiOnIce80 @Amanda81 - I've started checking my cervix now as an ovulation sign, having checked it throughout my cycle there is a really clear difference between ovulation ready cervix and impenetrable, non-fertile cervix. Around ovulation I can't feel my cervix at all, it blends in with the muscular walls. Whereas now, it does feel like a cold, hard nose! Bloody amazing, the human body.

QuantumGirl · 25/01/2019 12:12

@Beeseeinya congrats! So good to see a solid BFP result πŸ€©πŸ’•

@79andnotout I was going to post something about cervix checking too. I have been trying to distinguish the different stages but it's not as easy as I thought. I'm taking notes thought. The Ovia app asks if it feels like a nose, chin or lips. My nose and chin feels the same πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ not sure what the answer should be.

Re. Hair - mine is like yours and I also wash only once a week and takes 1 hour to wash and style as mine is quite long because mum never allowed me to have long hair when I was a kid πŸ˜•

Amanda81 · 25/01/2019 13:15

@79andnotout I've had a go at checking the CP. I can never really tell if it is closed or medium. I know what you mean around O time, it totally hides from view...playing hide and seek from the peek a boo monster 🀣🀣🀣

79andnotout · 25/01/2019 14:16

Hmm my nose and chin definitely feel different. My cervix at the moment definitely feels like my nose. I can't really tell if it's open or closed though, that's advanced level cervical manipulation. Also I have really stumpy fingers and it's quite an effort even getting to the cervix.

@QuantumGirl - mine was ass length as a kid, and my mother smoked about sixty fags a day so it always stank of smoke. Grim!

Off to Cardiff this weekend. We're visiting friends who also have a greyhound. I'm trying to convince OH to get another one so hoping seeing them play together on the beach will help persuade him ours needs a friend!

QuantumGirl · 25/01/2019 14:34

@79andnotout your hair story made me laugh πŸ˜†. It's amazing how much trauma parents can inflict on their kids. I wonder what kind of trauma my kid will have πŸ€”
Have a great time in Cardiff and hope you can convince DH to go for a second fur baby. For me dogs are like kids. One is enough πŸ˜‰πŸ˜

CNizzle · 25/01/2019 15:21

Oh my goodness @Beeseeinya, congratulations!

Weathergirl1 · 25/01/2019 16:13

Congratulations @Beeseeinya - Hope it's a sticky one!

My internet cheapies arrived just before lunchtime and I caved and used one - no line as expected - Natural Cycles thinks I'm 12 DPO so after the initial urge to test today, I don't think I'll bother now until at least Monday. Don't really want to buy a more expensive test at the moment as I'm a bit horrified with the amount of disposable plastic in them!

I felt really nauseous yesterday (was really unpleasant trying to get home on a 3 hour train journey 😬) And started to think it might be related, but now I think it must have been some sort of stomach bug - public transport is a bit of a pathogen zoo - as I'm feeling better today after white rice for tea last night!

Pinkywoo · 25/01/2019 17:32

Congratulations @Beeseeinya!

@79andnotout I love greyhounds! I've had two lurchers and they're such lovely dogs 😍

Blondcat · 25/01/2019 18:50

@beeseeinya congratulations.

Goodluck those in the tww fingers crossed for some more bfp's soon.

Just to give you ladies an update had my 20w scan today all looking good and expecting a girl ❀️ xxx

MrsRRC · 25/01/2019 18:51

Hi Girls,

Just having a little catch up on the thread.

Congratulations @Beeseeinya GrinοΏΌ

@CNizzle so sorry to hear about your Dad. I am glad you got to spend some time with and your family ❀️

How is everyone else?

Just to weigh in on the hair situation. I used to have long, almost black, shiny hair in my early 20s but it seems I do not handle stress very well. A bad break up, the death of two close friends and nearly losing my Dad have wreaked havoc over the last 7 years - each time it comes out in handfuls. The best thing you can do is eat loads of protein, take biotin and sea kelp and I find whacking on coconut oil overnight helps to strengthen it.

I had my first midwife appointment last Tuesday and I have another one this Tuesday - it's a two parter apparently! I have not been suffering too badly with MS and was feeling quite smug until yesterday, it's become clear that I am going to suffer over dinner time. I don't know what is causing it but pretty much from the moment I got my BFP I have been sneezing my head off.

We had our weekend in Manchester last weekend and the music tour was brilliant for those that were curious. I love Manchester and want to go back as soon as I can.

VenusStarr · 25/01/2019 18:51

Wonderful news @Beeseeinya πŸŽ‰πŸ’œ gives us all hope 😊

MrsRRC · 25/01/2019 18:52

@Blondcat how exciting. So pleased it went well Smile

79andnotout · 25/01/2019 18:54

@Blondcat - a girl! Fab! Glad all is well.

@MrsRRC - glad you had a good weekend. Will definitely check out that music tour.

@Pinkywoo - sighthounds are the best! Such sweethearts. I think I'm just going to be a serial greyhound adopter. Apparently Jilly Cooper is the same, Ive seen photos of them sprawled in her country pile. She rocks.

Carley321 · 25/01/2019 19:27

@QuantumGirl I’m jealous of your hair too then lol.

I have been trying to check my CI too but finding it quite tricky. I also use Ovia which is what I think confuses me lol.

Congratulations @Beeseeinya 🀞🀞 for a sticky one.

@Blondecat that’s amazing very sweet πŸ’—. Congratulations!

@MrsRRC thanks for the advice I’m up to trying anything. Although my hair is so thin and flat oil may not be the best.

pattyhoo · 25/01/2019 20:39

@Beeseeinya congratulations!

PixieN · 25/01/2019 21:11

Congratulations @Beeseeinya πŸŽ‰x lovely news.

Also glad things are progressing well with you @MrsRRC (although morning sickness does not sounds nice!) and yay to a girl @Blondcat - how fab! Smile

One of my friends has just started volunteering at a greyhound rescue @79andnotout They’re supposed to have lovely temperaments. I’m trying to find a home for my mum’s dog (not a greyhound) as she struggles to look after him. He’s lovely, but very bouncy and lively - only a year old. I wish she had thought it through properly, but she often makes snap decisions and then regrets them later Hmm

79andnotout · 26/01/2019 06:36

@PixieN - ah that's annoying! That's the good thing about getting a pet from a rescue centre, you can be appropriately matched with the right type of dog. I didn't realise dogs had such varied temperaments and requirements until I got my own. I wanted a lazy, affectionate dog like a greyhound as I work away a lot and my boyfriend is lazy (and affectionate I suppose) and I knew she wouldn't need walking much. When I got her we both worked from home and now neither of us work from home though, and I think she gets a bit lonely hence the plan for another. We'll see!

I tested this morning and it's a BFN, my temperature has dropped, and I can feel the rumblings of AF. I'm feeling the usual mix of disappointment and relief, and then annoyance that I'll still have to go back to work on Monday knowing I don't have a break from it in the pipeline. Sometimes I wonder if the only reason I want a child is for the mat leave.

BambiOnIce80 · 26/01/2019 10:09

Exciting news @Blondcat!! 😍 That's the second girl on this thread πŸ˜„

Glad you had a fab time in Manchester @MrsRRC (the MS sounds pants though!).

Sorry for the BFN @79andnotout πŸ’ I'm exactly the same as you when that happens - disappointment and relief in equal measure. Hope you have a lovely (boozy 🍸) weekend in Cardiff and that you manage to convince your OH to rescue a new fur baby.x

PixieN · 26/01/2019 17:13

Sorry for the BFN @79andnotout
I feel exactly the same as you and @BambiOnIce - a mixture of disappointment and relief. I wouldn’t mind having some time off work too lol. Saw a work mate last week who is back from Mat leave and she was very candid about the fact she won’t be having any more. Even though she loves her baby to bits (and I remember her really stressing that it would never happen as it took a while to conceive) she had a β€˜shit, what have I done’ moment a few weeks after the birth and said she’s never been the maternal type. Another colleague said she’s never been maternal either, but she ended up having three! Confused

Kescilly · 26/01/2019 22:02

Eek I keep missing out! Congrats @Beeseeingya!

Glad to hear it seems like a sticky one, @MrsRRC. How far along are you now?

@BambiOnIce80 nothing major to report from the scan, everything was ticked off as normal! It’s a relief and also finally starting to hit me that this is all very real. I go back and forth between being very excited and feeling very unprepared.

How’s your weekend going? Anything fun going on?

@79andnotout sorry about the BFN, I understand that mixture of disappointment and relief. I think everyone should be allowed leave!
