We're very close to maxing-out our previous thread, so time to start afresh 🙂

To borrow the intro from @Blondcat (our old threads founder):

A wonderful bunch of ladies supporting each other through the ttc journey when trying for a first baby after 35.

Good luck all!! 🍀🤞🏻🍀🤞🏻

Oh @Chelonia that sucks. I had my hopes up for you then.

In the supplements front I also take q10, and now also vit c and e, and extra folic acid (as recommended in the book it starts with an egg). If it looks like IVF is on I might take dhea too as I reckon my eggs are withered. No idea if any of the vitamins help but if it's only for a few more months I don't mind the extra expense.

We eat well though, and I grow all my own veg, so I'd hope my vitamin levels are pretty good anyway.

79andnotout · 31/10/2018 18:31

@Picallili q10 is good for the mitochondria in the cells, which are the powerhouses of cellular function. They provide energy for lots of processes. The theory is these getting old and rundown are responsible for poor egg quality in older women, and supplementing with ubiquinol/coenzyme q10 helps reverse that.

Picallili · 31/10/2018 18:36

Thanks @79andnotout, is it just for women to take then?

79andnotout · 31/10/2018 18:39

@Picallili it's expensive - so not sure I'd bother waste it on my partner. But if they have any semen issues it might be worth a shot. I've not looked into it for men, tbh.

Carley32 · 31/10/2018 19:14

Sorry about af @chelonia 🙁. Maybe find the positive side in a glass or 2 of something strong 😊.

@Quantumgirl oh no 🙈 that sounds awful, what a long day that must be. I am quite lucky that I only work 5 mins down the road at the moment. I seriously need a sort out, I will find the motivation one day (maybe I’ll start the gym that day too 🤔)

@beesingya hope you feel a little less mind boggled soon. It’s so hard Isn’t it. I’m finding being irregular the biggest problem, so I have no go to dtd because I never know when I actually should!

@Bambi oh really, is it any good?

@Pixie we were literally going to watch that last night but decided on Apostile. So a lucky dodge then? Not that our film was any better!

I’m quite into Making a Murderer! Has anyone seen it?

Noodella18 · 31/10/2018 19:17

@picallili I seem to remember q10 is a good anti inflammatory and my parter has chronic sinusitis so that’s why I was dosing him with it. Apparently zinc is the big one for men though, loads of research about it.

BambiOnIce80 · 31/10/2018 20:00

@Carley32 I consumed making a murderer in one weekend! Just done the same thing with the second season too. We even went to see 'an audience with' his attorney's from the first series ⚖️

Depends if you like scary things or not for American horror story... I do 👻

OP posts:
Carley32 · 31/10/2018 20:33

@Bambi I will have to give it a go. Don’t mind scary things as long as I’m not alone 😂. We are half way through the second series.... it’s such a good documentary!

CNizzle · 01/11/2018 07:25

Hey all, been trying to avoid obessessing/ forums/symptom-spotting for a few days during tww, currently 10dpo due AF tomorrow. Started a bit of light brown spotting on wiping this morning, so I'm pretty sure im out. Literally no syptoms at all, and im determined to not waste tests this month.
I was so sure this was the month, with me having hycosy booked for 15th. I'm hoping AF stays away til at least saturday to push ov far enough beyond the scan.
Still not had OH semen analysis results. They said theyd be posted out, but as ever, hes in no rush to chase them up.
Oh well. Onto cycle 12.

BambiOnIce80 · 01/11/2018 07:58

You're not out yet @CNizzle, it could still be your month 🍀 I hope the spotting is nothing more than that and AF stays away for you 🤞🏻

OP posts:
Picallili · 01/11/2018 08:02

@CNizzle it's rubbish when you start spotting, especially when you start thinking this could be it and what with pregnancy tests and OKs it is also all very expensive too. I'm currently waiting for AF after having CP last month so I can see if my cycle is back to normal. Feel like I'm wishing my life away! Nice to not feel alone on here- very hard to not talk to friends and family about it

Chelonia · 01/11/2018 09:07

I hear you @CNizzle I'm still struggling to accept that AF has arrived, mostly because I'm only losing a small amount of blood disproportionate to the horrendous level of cramping. But still, it's too much bleeding to still believe it could be a pregnancy. I don't know why but I thought this was our month too 😔. Hugs Flowers

PixieN · 01/11/2018 09:32

Sorry to hear about af @Chelonia and hope it stays away for you @CNizzle x

Hope you’re o.k @Beeseeinya It can all feel quite stressful. I know what you mean about August baby worries. We initially planned for a Sept baby like many people do (due to the impact re education etc), but have come to the conclusion that ttc is not that easy or straightforward at all, so have massively lowered expectations lol - a healthy baby born at anytime of the year would be absolutely amazing (but feels very far away at the mo!) Apparently, August babies have lots of lovely traits and lowest rates of bipolar (also very important, esp with a history of mental illness in my family!) out of all the birth months. The things you google when you have time on your hands.... lol Grin

Good luck and lots of positive thoughts for all you lovely ladies 💕

Kescilly · 01/11/2018 09:40

Sorry @CNizzle and @Chelonia, it’s so hard not to get your hopes up each time.

My husband is useless about test results too. I’m a carrier for a disease that doesn’t affect me, but would be bad if a child inherited the full thing. My husband was tested for it over a year ago and never called for the results. I was pretty sure he didn’t have it, because he was low risk and I assume they would have called him. But still!

Thanks ladies. I know im not "officially out" til AF but it might help with me resisting POAS when i know it'll be bfn.
@Chelonia ❤ im the same with AF, Horrendous cramps and not much really to show for it. Started the naproxen in preparation.
@Picallili hope your cycle rights itself soon ❤, ive found it good to have an outlet like this to connect with others in similar situations Flowers

edidxb · 01/11/2018 11:39

Hi all - congrats to @melamine and @noodella for your scans - brilliant news all round! So pleased for you.
@beeseeinya and @PixiN I know what you mean about summer babies. When we started TTC and I got pregnant with a due date of 3rd Oct I was so happy and thought it was the best time - oldest in the year, be successful etc etc and then I went on to have a mc.
And now I have fallen pregnant again and feel very lucky (and I really hope it sticks) but I have an EDD of 6th July and have decided I don't care anymore! My husband has a birthday in August and he was really sporty at school and has been really successful so I think it's all good!
@chelonia I'm sorry about AF. There's not much we can say to improve that situation other than on to the next month and another go.
@picallli I know what you mean about wising your life away. I have often felt in the last 7 months that that is all I have done, waiting for the next window of opportunity to come around and then being anxious in case one of us was ill, or away etc. TTC is a tough journey and it's hard when there is no-one to speak to.
I have to say I really love this board.

I went to the doctor again this morning for my 2nd HCG blood test 48 hours after my first (which is a good job as I have been struck down by "sudden onset" bronchitis so I have now been signed off work too. I got my results by telephone this afternoon and my HCG was 433 on Tuesday and now it is 799 and it is meant to almost double so my doctor and I are really pleased with that. I also got my progesterone levels back and they are low so I am onto the tablets and the suppositories and the baby aspirin. I will do everything I can do hope this one will stick!
But I am currently at home feeling really rather rubbish....

Carley32 · 01/11/2018 12:19

@CNizzle there’s still a chance 🤞

Good luck to anyone waiting.

Sorry about AF’s.

Has anyone tried the cheapy pregnancy tests off amazon? Was thinking of getting some but wondered if they are any good?

Kescilly · 01/11/2018 12:48

@edidxb that's great news! Sorry you're not feeling well but good to know that everything else is progressing as it should.

@Carley32 sorry, I never tried those.

We never even discussed trying to time when to have a baby. I knew that it might take a while so just wanted to get on with it. I was secretly pleased with the possibility of a June baby. My mother and I both have birthdays in June and I always liked sharing that with her.

I'm also prone to depression and I think I might really struggle if I gave birth in the winter.

BambiOnIce80 · 01/11/2018 13:09

@Carley32, I go for these and they're fine/meet the required laboratory standards:

@edidxb, that's great news about your HCG doubling 🙂 I hope you feel better soon and that the progesterone does the trick 🍀

@edidxb great news on the HSG. ❤

PixieN · 01/11/2018 13:29

Lovely news @edidxb Smile Hope you feel better soon x

Beeseeinya · 01/11/2018 14:03

Ahh it's not just me then. I'm a July baby and always felt behind at school, though did alright in the end. I just feel bad for the summer kids ! But I imagine I wouldn't actually care if it happened.

I broke a tooth yesterday so am having a crown fitted. Another reason to regret not being pregnant yet, it's setting me back 260 quid!!!

Carley32 · 01/11/2018 14:05

@Bambi. Thank you. Just ordered some. 👍. All that’s left is to actually ovulate and just dtd! 🙈😂

LeonieKate · 01/11/2018 16:15

@edidxb great news! Sorry you're not feeling well, take care and do nice things for yourself.

@Beeseeinya oh god, sorry to hear about your tooth (and your wallet taking a blow!).

@Chelonia urgh, that sounds like proper AF grimness. Hope you're ok.

@CNizzle hope AF does stay away for you!

@BambiOnIce80 thanks for the tips the other day! Was so useful and I went and did more research and felt so much more prepared going into the GP this morning.

GP was great, really proactive. Took a cervical swab and booked me in for CD0-5 and CD17 blood tests. I was primed and ready to deflect any fobbing off, but she was great. Smile Also got my DH a sexy little kit for his SA so we can get that sorted too. I couldn't stop making terrible jokes to the receptionist about sperm as she was booking me in and giving me the SA kit, though. Think I was nervous. She was very kind and laughed, but afterwards I was like Blush.
