We're very close to maxing-out our previous thread, so time to start afresh 🙂

To borrow the intro from @Blondcat (our old threads founder):

A wonderful bunch of ladies supporting each other through the ttc journey when trying for a first baby after 35.

Good luck all!! 🍀🤞🏻🍀🤞🏻

Haha @LeonieKate I feel for you. I'm also one of those people who like to crack a (bad) joke in an embarrassing situation and most often an inappropriate one too 🙈🤭🙄

QuantumGirl · 01/11/2018 16:42

@Beeseeinya how did it happen? It sounds awful 😣

BambiOnIce80 · 01/11/2018 17:19

Awww, so pleased your GP was a good'un @LeonieKate 😊 It really does help keep the anxiety of it all down, doesn't it?

Thanks for the sympathy everyone.
I need to go for my blood test and today is second day of bleeding.
Is today day 1 or two?? Google tells me there is a day 0?? Fertility clinic website says do bloods on day 2.

BambiOnIce80 · 01/11/2018 19:50

The nurse at the GP practice had me in knots about the very same thing @Chelonia! I've always been taught that medically speaking the first day of bleeding is day 0, which the nurse agreed with for my CD21 bloods. Then the same flippin' nurse decided for my CD0-5 bloods that it was day 1... so why's it called "CD0-5 bloods" then, eh nursey?! 🤨 Maybe ring up and ask, just to be on the safe side?

79andnotout · 01/11/2018 20:45

@Chelonia I went with first day of bleeding as day 1.

Carley32 · 01/11/2018 20:48

Well my cheapy OPK line seems to be getting a little more apparent every day now, today it was almost the same colour as the control line! This is excellent news but my selfish side is also thinking I have tickets to the autumn internationals sat and we are going in a group of couples, all of which love a good booze up!

My dilemma.... do I make the most of this line and dtd today and be the only soba in Cardiff or be selfish and hold off because I soo need a boozy day out with good company? 🙈🙈

Chelonia · 01/11/2018 21:26

OK @BambiOnIce80 I spoke to the nurse at the fertility clinic and she says:
If full bleeding starts before midday then count that day as Day 1
If full bleeding starts after midday then count as Day 0
Finally some sense made! 😄

CNizzle · 01/11/2018 23:09

@Carley32 is the day out this weekend? If so you'll be fine. Even if fertilised, the egg doesn't have any connection to.your blood supply for a few weeks. "Drink til its pink" i believe the saying goes!

ckc45d10 · 02/11/2018 03:41

Yes, there is research suggesting CoQ10 for fertility support in men as well. A form that is water and fat-soluble absorbs better.
A previous poster is correct in that it acts as an antioxidant as well as mitochondrial support. Here is some background research: www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3800531/
For women, the research has mostly centered around "advanced maternal age" and egg qaulity.

79andnotout · 02/11/2018 07:11

Yeah @Carley32 I would do both. The egg won't even be implanted for another week even if it did fertilise, so no connection to your bloodstream.

I am in the TWW now. I got a positive opk yesterday morning, dtd again, then got ovulation pains yesterday eve (first time I've ever noticed them) followed by a big temperature rise this morning. We have it our best shot this month with sex four times in the fertile week. Got a wedding next Saturday at 10dpo so will test then with a frer so I can at least drink merrily if it hasn't worked. If we manage the same for the next three or four cycles then I'll be happy we've tried naturally enough.

QuantumGirl · 02/11/2018 07:27

@79andnotout I'm exactly on the same days as you. Got positive OPK yesterday with ewcm and a negative today. Does it mean ovulation happened, is happening or will happen? I don't BTT as I'm a right grumpy old bag in the mornings 🙈

79andnotout · 02/11/2018 07:31

Hi @QuantumGirl - I think it depends. I think I ovulate not long after a positive test based on my temp rises, certainly within 24 hours. But all literature I've read says typically within 12-36hours, and it also depends at what stage you picked up the positive. I think my surge was actually the night before but I was only testing in the morning.

Carley32 · 02/11/2018 08:09

@CNizzle yea it’s tomorrow! Oh really. @79 Thank you ladies, well we didn’t manage to last night as DP was home to late and I’d already put my mouth guard thingy in! 😂🙈. I now have high hopes for tonight, I hope I haven’t missed it!

I seemed to have some minor persistent cramping yesterday, maybe that’s from ovulating?

Good luck @79 🤞.

I’m loving this thread, not only is it a brilliant place to chat but you are all so helpful 💗.

Good luck too @Quantum.

Beeseeinya · 02/11/2018 08:23

@quantumgirl I have no idea. Minding my own business watching some telly while trick or treaters kept knocking and felt a crumbling in my mouth. Huge hole in my tooth! I braved the dentist (I have a serious phobia) and have been fitted for a crown. Now need to eat carefully for 2 weeks. Might be a bonus and help lose some weight Grin

QuantumGirl · 02/11/2018 08:42

@Beeseeinya that's awful, I'm really sorry for you. I'm not a dentist but teeth is something I care about. Did you consider using your lost tooth as a hallowe'en trick? 😂🧛‍♀️🎃

79andnotout · 02/11/2018 09:02

I have sympathy @Beeseeinya. I have terrible teeth, as do my siblings. My mother's approach to dental care was that we were better off without them so I didn't see a dentist until I was an adult, and by that time a good bit of damage was done.

I've been reading about sperm and found this info online really interesting. I'm amazed conception happens at all! www.infertile.com/get-pregnant-ch-1-natural-pregnancy/

79andnotout · 02/11/2018 09:06

I also love this thread, not least because I don't have to engage my inner txt spk translator to understand it!

79andnotout · 02/11/2018 09:35

@Carley32 - what was the cramping like? I had some mild comfortableness (a bit like a trapped fart if you know what I mean?) on one side, just above my pelvic bone, and it last about two hours. I think that must have been ovulation, but I've never really kept an eye out for anything like that before, so have nothing to base it on.

79andnotout · 02/11/2018 09:36

*uncomfortableness (not a real word, clearly, but my brain is in friday mode).

CNizzle · 02/11/2018 11:41

Ok, so.I'm still waiting on AF, kinda feel like she could arrive any second if you know what i mean, but the spotting has dried up. Not "late" until sunday. Wont be able to test now though. Unfortunately my dads health has taken a major turn for the worse. His brain tumour has caused him to take a stroke & seizures last night. So 4.30am train from Glasgow, & now im sitting in a relatives room at ICU 250 miles away. Very surreal & draining. Ive not slept since weds/thurs night & we don't really know whats going on. My poor dad is heavily sedated as he keeps fitting. Its all so very sad, and not looking good. 😢

79andnotout · 02/11/2018 11:47

@Cnizzle - really sorry to hear that. I hope you have good support around you down there.

CNizzle · 02/11/2018 11:52

@79andnotout thanks, yes my mum & sister are here ane we're all quite close. OH has stayed at home as hes self employed, but hes on the end of the phone. Troubling times.

edidxb · 02/11/2018 11:59

@Cnizzle - really sorry to hear that. What a stressful time for you all. I hope he stabilises soon x

Blondcat · 02/11/2018 13:03
