We're very close to maxing-out our previous thread, so time to start afresh 🙂

To borrow the intro from @Blondcat (our old threads founder):

A wonderful bunch of ladies supporting each other through the ttc journey when trying for a first baby after 35.

Good luck all!! 🍀🤞🏻🍀🤞🏻

@Chelonia do you have any spotting? I’ve heard that could be a sign of low progesterone, so maybe not spotting is a good sign? I tried to look up values for you but it’s crazy how no one agrees on progesterone levels.

We had a private early scan today and everything looks good, she could see the heartbeat. We are so thrilled but now I’m also much more attached.

BambiOnIce80 · 24/10/2018 20:58

That's fabulous news about your scan @Kescilly 💖😊

@Bambi thanks for the info. Sounds promising. I may look into it.

Half term next week so I have a week off to... book the docs if nothing just for them to tell me to come back in a few months lol 🙈. Also going to start a destress Iv exercise class. Lastly spend some cash and invest a cbfm! Next month... i mean business!! 🤞👊

Chelonia · 24/10/2018 21:05

Oh thank you @Kescilly!! ❤ That's really kind of you. I don't get spotting so fingers crossed that's a good sign. Wonderful news about your scan too, how bloody exciting X
Well my BBT was a much more respectable 37.12 this morning - that's more like it!! 😉

Carley32 · 24/10/2018 21:08

Sorry about the typo’s 🙄. That will teach me to eat at the same time.

@kescilly that’s lovely news. I’m so pleased for you. X

Kescilly · 24/10/2018 21:21

Thanks ladies, I never thought I’d have a moment like tonight so I’m going to try and be grateful for every minute.

Also I didn’t mean to scare anyone who does spot! I started spotting over the last year or so but it didn’t stop us from conceiving, so it’s not always a bad sign.

@Carley32 let us know how you get on with the monitor. What type of exercise class are you thinking of joining?

Carley32 · 24/10/2018 21:29

@Kescilly Will do! I am thinking maybe Yoga spin or circuits, I’ll see what suits that day. I think stress in a major issue with me (I suffer with mild anxiety) so think something is needed. DP is very very stressed lately too so I’m just hoping it works.

@Bambi good luck to DP starting his new job!

CNizzle · 24/10/2018 22:08

@kescilly wonderful about the scan. Wishing you a happy and healthy pregnancy x

I definitely think exercise helps me stress levels. I do a couple of spin classes & a kettlebells class. In fact theres a girl in kettlebells tonight who's 39weeks! Shes been lifting weights throughout and says its keeping her sane just now. (Not sure if i should be inspired or rolling my eyes at her!)
I really need to reduce my bmi from 33/34ish to

TheNewbieStep · 24/10/2018 22:19

Ah thanks @Chelonia
Things are calmer on the Dad front - he lives 200 miles away and moving him nearer is deemed to be too stressful for him. He is in a residential home, so least he is safe and there are no more 3am phone calls from police (wandering around at night in bare feet around the town) or A&E saying he has been picked up because he has fallen and confused. Early onset dementia. Heartbreaking motherfucker of a disease.

PixieN · 24/10/2018 23:22

Great idea about checking out eBay for a fertility monitor @CNizzle I’ll have a look and see if I can find a bargain.

Lovely news about your scan @Kescilly Smile

I’m so sorry to hear about your dad @TheNewbieStep - that sounds like a nightmare situation Flowers

BambiOnIce80 · 25/10/2018 07:39

Glad your dad is safe and sound @TheNewbieStep. Went through the same thing with my grandmother (them: your nan has locked herself out of the house and it's 2am- can you come round with your spare keys? Me: bit of a problem- I live 265 miles away! 😱). She's been in a home for nearly two years now and the comfort of knowing she's safe and being looked after is one hell of a de-stresser.x

MrsRRC · 25/10/2018 08:28

@kescilly oh I was wondering about your scan. So pleased for you that it went well. 😀

Those that buy the cbfm, I highly recommend it because it does take the guess work out of ttc I think, although you may want to temp in tandem because although the cbfm will tell you when your surge happens it won’t tell you when you actually ovulate.

There’s no July club over on the Antenatal Club board yet, so I will continue to lurk here, and I am so keen for more BFPs on the thread. Xx

MrsRRC · 25/10/2018 08:42

@Chelonia it’s so weird the way stress manifests itself. I used to do a lot of Bikram yoga before I moved from Essex to Kent and after a death in the family I found my lower back was in real turmoil, when I went back to Bikram after all of the admin that goes with death was done, we were going through the floor series and I did a backbend and just started sobbing and I noticed when I was lying down in Savasanna at the end of the class, like you, weirdly cured!

@cnizzle that woman must be an absolute machine. I am a runner and I always thought I would continue all the way through pregnancy but even though I only just got my bfp, the last three or four days, I wake up feeling full of energy and by the time I get home and have dinner I am BONE TIRED I managed to stay up until 9:10pm last night and that was a struggle. I didn’t think the tiredness would kick in just yet.

LeonieKate · 25/10/2018 09:12

@kescilly so wonderful about your scan!

@cnizzle wow that kettle bell woman sounds super-human.

@MrsRRC I used to do a lot of Bikram as well and always felt really emotional and tearful during that backbend (even without any trauma going on in my life like you were going through).

@TheNewbieStep that sounds like a really difficult situation with your Dad. Sending love.

I had a BFN last night, after AF was late. Still no AF, but have had some spotting two days ago and two days before that. My boobs are still really sore. Haven't been keeping up with my BBT tracking so that's no use this month - trying to work out if I have had an anovulatory cycle! Had a sad gin last night after the BFN but back feeling positive today...

Kescilly · 25/10/2018 09:32

Thanks ladies! Smile

@TheNewbieStep I'm sorry about your father, must be so difficult. But must also be reassuring to know that he's safe now.

@MrsRRC you could start the July one or join us on the June one for now if you'd like. The scan put me at May 31st now but I know it could go two weeks either way.

@LeonieKate sorry about the BFN. Are your cycles generally regular? Have another Gin for me.

Ladies I forgot to mention, last night I discussed the Harmony test with the midwife we saw. I mentioned that I was 35 so concerned about genetic defects. She smiled and said 35 is young for what she sees these days! So obviously there are risks that go up with age, but we aren't past it if she's seeing many "older" women.

edidxb · 25/10/2018 09:45

Brilliant news on the scan @kescilly - I am so pleased for you.
@mrsrrc - I missed the end of the last thread so hadn't realised you had a BFP - amazing news, congratulations.

I usually get quite a bit of spotting with my low progesterone levels. They did put me on tablets for the TWW which I did for 3 months but don't want to take them forever.........so haven't last month and this month. But no spotting so far this month.........not sure if it is the acupuncture doing it's thing. OR, my hopes and dreams are that it is a BFP.

I am on 12DPO today. I am desperately trying to hold out testing until Saturday or even Sunday if I am late.

BambiOnIce80 · 25/10/2018 10:13

Sorry for the BFN @LeonieKate 💐 I hope AF stops messing you about soon (and I hope your had a false BFN and you get a BFP instead! 🤞🏻🍀).

No spotting sounds promising @edidxb 🙂 I'm hoping for good news from you this weekend 🤞🏻 🍀

LeonieKate · 25/10/2018 10:33

Thanks for the lovely comments!

@edidxb I hope your hopes and dreams are right! Smile Hope the waiting isn't too agonising.

@Kescilly I'm usually regular with AF arriving on CD23-25. Today is CD26 so we'll see... @BambiOnIce80 I'm trying not to google "how likely is a false negative test" etc etc and accept the BFN, I wish AF would arrive and stop my brain whirring!

I've got an awards thing in a couple of weeks, and my friend who I'm up for the award with told me in no uncertain terms that I had better not be pregnant for the ceremony so we can "make the most of" (ahem) the drinks reception. Perhaps my body was listening to her... Hmm

MrsRRC · 25/10/2018 10:38

Thanks @edidxb technically I am still in tww. My period would be due on Saturday and I am paranoid that it will come and am having a few anxious moments here and there.

I usually spot for 3 days before my period and I’m not, so if I didn’t already know it would definitely be a sign for me, so I have high hopes for you🤞🏻

@LeonieKate sorry for your bfn 💐 I hope you get your bfp next month. Xx

MrsRRC · 25/10/2018 10:39

@Kescilly I might join you, I don’t think I could handle the responsibility of starting a new thread 😂

Kescilly · 25/10/2018 11:10

@LeonieKate our bodies seem to like to play tricks on us when we are TTC. Maybe give it a few days and test again?

@edidxb I usually spot before my period so like MrsRRC, no spotting would be a sign for me too. Actually it was one of the things that made me test despite feeling like AF was around the corner. I did spot the day after my BFP, which stressed me out.

@MrsRRC no rush! It took me a while to join because I kept expecting AF to show.

Russkispy · 25/10/2018 11:58

@MrsRRC , where abouts are you in Kent? I'm also in Kent
Just waiting for AF to start so I can then take Clomid from cd5 and book flights home for IUI. Unless by some miracle AF won't come at all and I'm pregnant. Wishful thinking. Well, it will happen. It might not be this cycle...

ladybranstonpickle · 25/10/2018 14:32

Hello, may I join too?

I am turning 38 in November (!) and got married last December. We decided to wait to TTC for a year while I started a new job and we settled into married life. So the plan is to remove my Nuvaring in mid-Dec after we get back from holidays and TTC starting January.

My company has just revamped its maternity leave policy to 5 months full pay - from SMP - so that's good news. Just to need to make sure I am in the qualifying period.

I have been lurking for a little bit and really looking forward to joining in the chat :)

ladybranstonpickle · 25/10/2018 14:33

oh no, just realised this was the wrong thread! I meant to post onthe Waiting to TTC January.
Blush

Kescilly · 25/10/2018 19:23

Feel free to hang out here in the meantime! I’m not sure how the Nuvaring works but some women find it takes a while to get their cycles back to normal after BC.
