We're very close to maxing-out our previous thread, so time to start afresh 🙂

To borrow the intro from @Blondcat (our old threads founder):

A wonderful bunch of ladies supporting each other through the ttc journey when trying for a first baby after 35.

Good luck all!! 🍀🤞🏻🍀🤞🏻

terriwrist · 13/11/2018 10:33

I was getting really attached to this egg. Can't imagine doing this month after month after month. :(

Peanut35 · 13/11/2018 10:59

Went to work at 6am this morning so here is my collection from last two days 😁 no point trying to get a picture of clearblue as its a squinter in person 🙄

@terriwrist dont give hope i know how disheartening it is every month but it will happen mine was litterally timing we only ever could do it at weekends before as soon as i did it on the actual ovulation day i hope its worked 🙏 even a day before and after for the last seven months just didnt work xx

79andnotout · 13/11/2018 14:58

@ BambiOnIce80 – sorry to hear about the work baby bomb. That is the beauty of working in a male dominated industry, I don’t get many of those! Although I also don’t get much sympathy for the abominable period pains I am having right now either… Hypoallergenic kitten plans sound great!

Sorry to hear about the ovulation pains @MrsRRC. Hope you’re feeling better today.

@QuantumGirl – you can book to see a fertility expert. Where are you? I paid to go see someone in the north, and so did my sister in another part of the country. You can get a printout of all your test results from the NHS and take them in. It can get expensive though.

MrsRRC · 13/11/2018 17:45

@BambiOnIce80 @79AndNotOut much better thank you 🙏 It really highlighted what a low pain threshold I have 🤣

@BambiOnIce80 It’s amazing really how people do it just one or by accident! And how for years most people actively avoid pregnancy and then all of a sudden when you do want to have a baby and are very deliberate about it, sperm galore, it doesn’t bloody work.

I went out for dinner with a friend who got pregnant by accident and has a gorgeous little girl, when I told her about my cp she said, it obviously just wasn’t meant to be, it’ll happen, just chill out.

Well, she nearly ended up with the tines of my fork embedded in the back of her hand! I realise it’s just an awkward topic of conversation but unsolicited advice is not required, just an ‘oh mate that’s rubbish, how are you doing’ would have been better. I am sure I probably said something just as useless to friends in the same situation in the past but I definitely wouldn’t do that now.

BambiOnIce80 · 13/11/2018 18:09

@MrsRRC that's exactly my feelings on the matter! 😂 Having listened to my IRL friends procrastinate about friend-of-a-friend fertility scenarios, giving it "if they just relaxed, it'd happen" sage words of advice when they've either never had fertility issues themselves or haven't even tried yet makes me want to explode!! 🤯 This is why you guys are so awesome - you get it 😘

I’m pretty much out tiny little brown spot today 🙄. Each day I wake up wishing af away I have a new symptom 😡.

Oh well I will be getting tipsy on Saturday!

Question of the day.... should I invest a thermometer?

terriwrist · 13/11/2018 18:52

Sorry to hear about your AF / period pains @79andnotout.

terriwrist · 13/11/2018 19:23

@Carley321 Sorry to hear about the spotting...I would recommend investing in a thermometer... even though I'm not an experienced temper...
I picked up a thermometer from Boots 3 months ago.... and have been temping for 3 cycles... I only noticed the temperature increase on the last cycle... (was travelling and quite stressed out due to family member's illness during most of first two cycles so don't think I ovulated).

Carley321 · 14/11/2018 06:28

@terriwrist I will pick one up in time for next month. Is it in the morning that is best to temp? I isually take an OPK in the early evening around 6.30pm.

Kescilly · 14/11/2018 07:17

@Carley322 I think temping works best if you have a regular sleep routine and you take it as soon as you wake up, before even getting up. But one of the more experienced ladies here can advise! I tried it when I was with my ex but my sleep was all over the place so it didn’t work very well.

CNizzle · 14/11/2018 07:29

@carley32 first thing is best to temp. As soon as you wake up, before you get out of bed. It takes a bit of getting used to. You're recording your basal body temperature, basically the temperature your body is at complete rest. Once you're awake your body temperature fluctuates too much to get a pattern.
I keep my thermometer next to the bed, and its s habit now, first thing I do. Most of the time I'm not really even awake & I have to use the thermometers memory to recall the temp later on to record it!

@BambiOnIce80 thanks, HyCoSy is tomorrow (thursday) OH is going to get the printout of his semen analysis from the GP today hopefully.

@MrsRRC I feel for you & the dinner incident, so horrible when you're hurt but feel you cant show it, like you im pretty sure ive said insensitive things in the past not meaning to be hurtful, but just not really fully understanding the pain. It took me to about 35 to get my head into even thinking of not avoiding pregnancy, the actual intricacies and awfulness surrounding trying & failing to conceive was so far from my knowledge.

Peanut35 · 14/11/2018 07:48

Finally got a line on clear blue i waited till today ment to be due on tomorrow so im hoping that means my hcg has doubled from 11dpo now 13dpo x

79andnotout · 14/11/2018 09:27

@Carley321 my method (honed over the last couple of years) is to put the thermometer next to my phone so when my alarm goes off I stick it under my thigh to pre warm. Leave it there while I do a five minute snooze. Then take the temp vaginally. At the same time every day gives the most consistent pattern but even when I was getting up at different times I could see a clear pre and post ovulation shift. But now my charts look really good. And it makes me realise how differences to routine can really mess up your cycle. I've had delayed ovulation or a shortened luteal phase caused by long haul travel, bad diet it in US, or dramatically changing my exercise pattern. It's really quite interesting!

thanks for the commiserations @terriwrist.

Glad you're feeling better @MrsRRC.

I've been quite open with people in real life about TTC if they ask. I got asked quite a lot at the wedding I was just at. There's so much secrecy surrounding fertility issues and I would rather people know it's not easy for everyone - quite a few friends have shared their issues with me because they know we're struggling. My family all know too. I'm quite matter of fact about things in general though, and don't get emotional, so maybe I just find it easier to talk about it than other people do?

Carley321 · 14/11/2018 19:15

@79andnotout I wish I could talk about it openly but don’t really trust anyone enough to do so I guess. But it’s good you do. I imagine it’s refreshing to let them know that YES I do want children but it’s not always as easy it bloody well looks! Lol.

@peanut defo getting stronger. Exciting 😁

Thank you ladies. That’s a great help. I will pick one up on the weekend. Hopefully I’ll get into it and it will help. I’m so worried I don’t ovulate! I suffer with a little anxiety so stress a lot so wondered if that was affecting me! I also wanted to start exercise because I thought it may help but also a little concerned it will mess with my cycle too 🤔. I eat pretty decent (except weekends) and I’m around 7st 7lb. So not over weight but also worry that I’m a little under?

So many questions and thoughts lol. Sorry ladies... it’s clearly a thinking kinda day! Lol.

Peanut35 · 14/11/2018 19:40

@Carley321 7st 7 is not overweight unless you're a hobbit and not underweight unless your the bfg 😁 im the same weight and 5st 3 and think ots just right for that kind of height x I've never temped i find my body goes into overdrive when im due on i wake up in pools of sweat and wet hair i really hope you and everyone gets their bfps soon I'm still convinced im gonna get my af tomorrow keep reading stories about people having chemicals and its terrifying me i need to stop googling 😔 i feel a bit of a fraud as ive had no fertility problems really thats why i was worried this time as ive had bad cells removed from my cervix and have some stage 2 cells that need to be removed. I was petrified they would have to remove so much of my cervix this time they would tell me after i couldnt have any more children hence the urgency in ttc 😔 xx

Peanut35 · 14/11/2018 19:41

5ft 3 sorry 😂😂

Carley321 · 14/11/2018 22:18

@peanut I’m about 5.3 too. 🤞🤞 for you that it will all work out 😊. I’m sure it will be fine.

I don’t get any of the sciency bits which is why I love this group and the fact that we all have @bambi 😁. All I know is that the waiting game is hard and I want to learn as much as possible and up my chances each month. You just read so many mixed messages it’s hard to know where to start.

Before last month I used cheapy opks Last month I added cb ovulation tests and this month I’ve learnt it’s good to use 2 methods to confirm I even ovulate, so that’s what I’ll do 🙈. Now I want af to come and go so we can get back to the bm 😂

79andnotout · 15/11/2018 08:38

I'm also about that height but a stone heavier. I have a fat ass!

My mother was about six stone all her reproductive years, she had a real problem with body image. But she still managed to bang out five kids!

Peanut35 · 15/11/2018 15:46

Well its af due day still convinced im going to come in any minute but satified my poas addiction by going to the pound shop gonna be too poor for a baby the amount if tests ive brought over the year 🙄

35+ TTC#1 Thread 4
Peanut35 · 15/11/2018 15:48

@79andout that cracked me up still managed to bang out 5 kids x i know people of all sizes having babies so @carley321 deffo do not think you need to lose any weight x

Carley321 · 15/11/2018 18:37

@79andnotout I would pay good money for a fat ass I tell you!

@peanut I know not to lose weight just wondered if I were a little underweight but seems that isn’t the case 👍.

Im sure I will come up with 10000 reasons to why it’s it not happening quite yet, and that worry and concern are probably a reason in itself 🙈.

I’m defo our AF is here! Never mind new month to come.
🤞 that it stays away for you ladies.

Any symptom spotting going on yet?

Hope all are well and looking forward to the weekend?

QuantumGirl · 15/11/2018 18:54

@Carley321 that's good at least you are starting to have some sort of AF pattern! I'm due tomorrow so if nothing happens by sat morning I'm doing it, I'll be spending a whole £5 by peeing on a frer 😂.
Plans for the weekend is to make the most of the mild southern uk weather and carry on tidying up the garden in time for the winter. I also need a new (fake) xmas tree - maybe I'll wait till Black Friday 😄
