Have been slowly coming off antidepressants and stopped taking the pill (using condoms) to get body back to normal ready to try for no.2 in June, also started taking pregnacare. I know its early to start posting but got my first proper period today so just been on site to check fertile dates for months again and think we're going to go for it in June - ooooooooooooo, very excited. Just wondered if there was anyone else out there planning way ahead cos i wouldn't talk to anyone in RL life about it so far ahead, other than dh!

Morning Everybody, just thought I'd say Hi before I set off to work.

I do not think you are weak pobletsmum, I would be testing to, good luck I will keep everything crossed.

It has taken me ages to get my DH to give up alcohol, so lissie your DH is not alone my DH is not that happy about it either.

I've not even started my new cycle yet and I am planning for it.

Off to work now but I am sure I will be in later.

toomuchtimeonline · 05/06/2007 09:19

Morning everyone! Thought I'd check in!

I've managed to get my dh to restrict his alcohol intake but not give up completely - I'm hoping that his few big blow out nights won't effect things too much. Does anyone know whether men drinking just reduces your chances of getting pregnant - or does it increase your chances of miscarriage or problems with the baby too?

BabyBratt · 05/06/2007 09:42

Still not managed to get to work yet! .

The doctor told my DH that in moderation it is ok, but if he could it is a good thing to give the alchol up a couple of days before your ovulation is due. To be honest I there are so many conflicting stories. If you give up everything I think you will drive yourself insane and if your DH is anything like mine he will say he's given it up but a few sneaky beers will end up being consumed. I do not think that in moderation it affects your baby or chances of getting pregnant but I am no expert.

Morning all - wow, you were all busy last night with the postings.

Welcome BB, I had my ds 5 months before my 30th so there must be something about that magical age I´ve only been on mn for a couple of months and it´s been an absolute godsend, although sometimes I think I get a bit paranoid as I know soooo much more now thanks to these wonderful ladies than I did when I was pg with ds

Not that my dh is a serious drinker but it´s bad enough getting him to take his tablets every morning, so I can imagine exactly what he´d say if I told him to cut out/down on the alcohol I think toomuchtime that it just reduces your chances of getting pregnant because his swimmers are more sluggish, but I´m sure there´s someone out there with more info than me

Lissie - morning hun, pleased to hear that you´re feeling more upbeat this morning

Plummy - fantastic news, but definately wait for the next scan.

Well, still no period (I remembered too ) for me and am desperately trying to stay away from the chemists. Thank god we work far away from the shops and I only get half an hour for lunch so no time to sneak out Still not sure whether I should test before my girlie night out on Saturday - any advice people???

tigerschick · 05/06/2007 11:55

Hi All

Just dashing on quickly for now...

Soph - If it was me, if your period isn't here by Saturday, I think it might be wise to test just to be on the safe side. But that's just me

Regarding alcohol, well, we didn't give it up last time and haven't this time either. We are not heavy drinkers (tho we probably drink a lot compared with some people) but I feel that your life can't stop when you're ttc... it would make me much more obsessed than I already am if I started putting constraints on our normal life. And lord only knows what dh would think!

Soph73 · 05/06/2007 12:33

tigerschick - thanks for that, that´s what I feel but I think dh feels that I´m getting a little obsessed with it all and he just wants me to have a good time on Saturday, bless him We didn´t give up alcohol when we were trying for ds and, I don´t know what you think, but it sounds like an awful lot of women fall pg after a big night out

pobletsmum · 05/06/2007 13:32

Does anyone know whether cheap eBay tests give false +ves? (feint line, definitely pinkish) If not, then I might have some good news...

toomuchtimeonline · 05/06/2007 13:46

Poblet - I'm no expert but I've read on here so many times that there's no such thing as a false positive!! So provided it isn't an evaporation line - which it doesn't sound like it is - Congrats!!! So pleased for you

Thelittlesoldiersmummy · 05/06/2007 14:24

Pobletsmum could you get a first response and test again?

Soph73 · 05/06/2007 15:08

Poblet - keeping my fingers crossed for you

tigerschick · 05/06/2007 15:31

ooh Pobletsmum - that does sound promising ... as suggested, can you get a different test and try again in the morning? Fingers crossed for you

plummymummy · 05/06/2007 15:33

Ooh Poblet, hope it's good news. If it's pink and it's in the right part of the test (not on the seam)it sounds promising.

pobletsmum · 05/06/2007 15:47

Thanks sooooo much for your replies.

I'm madly looking over my shoulder again here at work, but had to check back! Have got 2x Clearblue Digital at home, and 6 more cheapies. What do you think I should do? Is tomorrow too soon to get a result with CB Dig? I don't want to waste them, but NEED TO KNOW! I think I will be 12dpo tomorrow, making period due 9th. Today is dragging soooooo slowly its unbelievable.

lissie · 05/06/2007 15:49

a line is a line. did it comeup straight away? evap lines tend to be grey and take 10 mins to appear. tbh tho i would wait a couple of days then test again give HSG levels chance to build up a bit

lissie · 05/06/2007 15:51

the digis prob wont work til af is due. if you must test use the cheapies... good luck!!

UpsyDaisy · 05/06/2007 16:00

Oh how exciting...just popped on to see what everyone has been up to......poblet wishing you the best of luck.....I remember getting the positive for ds, was a huge shock, i'd peed on so many sticks over the previous months I'd given up, I didn't realise until nearly 8 weeks had passed, then still didn't expect a bfp - how stupid am I? Actually don't answer that one....I know the answer!

tigerschick · 05/06/2007 16:31

LOL Upsydaisy - that sounds exactly like me with dd. I'd done soooo many tests over the years never really expecting a bfp and when I did get one I couldn't stop shaking. I was 8 weeks pg too.

Pobletsmum - If your period isn't due until the 9th I'd really try and hold off using the digital tests for a few days at least. Sorry, I know it must be agonising but they are so expensive. Do the cheapie ones if you must test before then

scorpio1 · 05/06/2007 17:59

Just checking in, nothing new here. cd3

spugs · 05/06/2007 18:43

Hey, congratulations to those who have their bfp's and Mrsmc brilliant news on the scan. Im CD 23 and still do not have the foggiest what is going on still crampy anda feel a bit sick, think i may be having one of my rare 28 day cycles and af is on way!

spugs · 05/06/2007 18:49

Just put a thread up in miscarriage forum about how long hsg (is that right) stays in system for - if any one has any words of advice, cheers me dears x

pobletsmum · 05/06/2007 20:30

Phew, I'm home now so I can post without having the mouse hovering over the minimise button. Mumsnet is SO addictive!

UpsyDaisy & Tigerschick - I can't believe you made it to 8 weeks before finding out!

Lissie - line came up well within recommended 5min time limit. Almost straight away in fact, just feint, and not grey. It was definitely in the right place.

Thanks for persuading me to wait for the digital result. Will probably use up my cheapies every day though to try to convince myself this is real!

lissie · 05/06/2007 20:51

sounds promising poblet.

spugs, off to look at your thread now, see you there

becklespeckledfrog · 05/06/2007 20:55

Pobletsmum (sorry to gatecrash guys) - I tested at 12 dpo with ebay cheapies, line took a few mins to appear and was v v faint. A week later is was v v dark and appeared immediately!!! Fingers crossed xxx

pobletsmum · 05/06/2007 21:05
