Yum was in need of a new thread, and I thought the title was apt because it's not just TCOYF charts anymore... hope it's ok?? I don't want anyone to think I am taking over

Just needing something, anything, to take my mind OFF my impending doom

OP posts:
cityangel · 08/08/2007 22:05

Rainbowdays that's great. How are you doing? Sorry I haven't been about it's all getting hard now.

cityangel · 08/08/2007 22:09

Ready and Catsoo thinking of you.

Have my appointment with Barts Fertility clinic next week and it's a nightmare clash with a big profile work thing. Needless to say I am still going but it's drawing too much attention to a 'hospital appointment' and I rang to try and move it and would have lost 2 months! I have already been waiting for our test results for 2 months!

This week it's exactly a year of trying :0(

seaside72 · 09/08/2007 08:46

cityangel - just popped on to see how you all were and wantd to wish you lots of luck for your appointment - dont worry about work (I know easy for me to say!) - tell some white lies if you need to - it will be worth it for your peace of mind that you are being proactive. Look at me - 20 months no contraception, 14 months concerted TTC the month I started my fertility appointments with the specialist I got my bfp. I was the first to say it would not happen to me but it did. Keep the faith. {{{{{big hugs}}}}}

3Cats - thinking of you hon and hoping you are doing OK. Hope you are having/have a god holiday

Thinking - hi [waves] I am glad there are some new recruits joining this lovely thread - nice and intimate - look after each other and good luck

Ready - xxxxxxxxxxxx to you hon if you see this.

Ready · 10/08/2007 17:55

Hi girls. I'm back!!

Cityangel - good luck next week, sweets. I'll be thinking of you. Hope you are ok. Try not to worry about work, it's not ideal, but you've waited long enough for these results, so don't feel bad about taking time off for them.
Hugs, this is cycle 12 for us too - so I know how you are feeling. I keep trying to think, that it is still perfectly normal for it to take 18 months. Hang in there petal!

3cats - how are you? Sorry I wasn't around whe you were having all your issues. But pleased to hear the latest was DH giving in, with no pressure . Are you on holiday? Fingers crossed you come back with some news for us

Thinking - How are you? Sorry I have been out of the loop for a bit, did you get a BFP? Or did your new cycle start?

Seaside - Lovely to see you here, checking in on us. It is a very intimate group here isn't it

Rainbowdays - Lovely to hear that all is well with you.

I had my HSG today, eurgh. It wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be. I feel a bit crampy now, but DH is taking me out for a meal, since I was so brave

cityangel · 11/08/2007 02:02

Hey everyone. The wonderful messages really help. Sometimes I don't dare log back in again in case you've all gone. But today I got lucky

Ready so glad you are back I didn't realise you're going down the test path too. What others have you had? Let me know how you get on. How is dh... let me know if he can help me win fantasy football, have now joined 2 leagues

3catsoo and Seaside what is your latest news?
Thinking how goes it? Rainbow days how are you feeling?

So me...

TMI - but last month AF was incredibly heavy and 2 days late. So I am hopeful some stuff is working.

Just got back from holiday and dh was rampant. Really annoyed as it wasn't the right time, but heh ho.

Off to bed.. great to catch up xxx CA

Ready · 11/08/2007 17:33

Cityangel - I'm glad you're glad I'm back ... I'll try not to waffle too much about our tests ... My GP has been fantastic. I've had the Day21 test, progesterone level of 48 - Phew My GP was really impressed with my charts too, "text book" she called them [smug]

We've had our first consultation with the gynae, who talked us through DH's sperm analysis, which is, in a nutshell, fine. If when you get your DHs results you need to discuss any aspects, I'm here - I'm an expert now . The consultant said that we have the sperm, and the eggs, and just wanted to make sure there was nothing stopping the two from meeting. Hence the HSG (yesterday). The radiographer said it all looked normal, but I still have to go on the 21st to discuss it. I am due to ovulate today/tomorrow, so we won't be ttc this cycle but I am worried that the HSG might affect any pregnancy, and to be honest, I am quite tender still

So there you have it.

I thought of you actually when I was with my consultant (is that weird?) when we discussed temping. He said that temping didn't prevent conception, but he thinks that some women concentrate too much on temping and forget to have sex. I don't think either of us fall into that group so temp away

DH still isn't fixed up it's the first game of the season he has been without a club since he became a pro Keep your fingers crossed for him. I am sure he will help with your fantasy league team. He does one with his friends. I've done it the last few seasons, but opted out this time, as my heart just wasn't in it. Good luck for the season

Ready · 11/08/2007 17:45

I said I'd try not to waffle didn't I?

cityangel · 12/08/2007 01:26

Ready waffle away...So pleased you are about

I am really pleased your tests worked out. We may need to save up and go private soon as ours are taking ages and they couldn't have been more negative about temping. I haven't temped for 3 months... so pleased (not) that I bought all the kit/ software etc before the doc rubbished it. I am sure if temping was that effective a contraception it would put Durex etc out of business.

Not weird at all its nice to be part of your life, all be it in a round about way. I often think of you guys. I wonder whether real life friends would make as much effort to look out for each other and be honest if it was all anonymous. When I say I wonder I think I know the answer

Good luck to dh. I don't know much about the profession but I imagine there is uncertainty and lots of competition, but I hope things work themselves out. I guess at least you don't have to move yet. My dh is off to the CFC game tomorrow and I hope they win as its key OV time

Last week we had more nookie than we've ever had... annoying it was a week to early but I've discovered I need to book weekends away at key time

Hello to everyone, I hope you're all enjoying the nice weather xxx

Ready · 12/08/2007 16:27

Cityangel - You're a late night MNer aren't you?
I am sorry to hear that you are having to think of going private. Do you think it is because of location that affects the speed of appointments and the like? I mean, there are obviously going to be more people waiting in the big cities.
How have you felt not temping for all this time? I am not so obsessed with it as I was, I take it every few days just to see a pattern I guess. It's nice not waking up every day and thinking about it. The other morning I woke up and found my thermometer in bed with me. I can only assume I woke to my temp alarm, put it in my mouth and fell back to sleep.
We watched the Chelsea match today, and I said to DH that it'd be a happy Cityangel household. Do you think it says something that DH knows what I am talking about Fingers crossed the win boosts the o~ to their destination

It's funny you should say about real life friends - I certainly haven't shared even half as much with them as I have with my MN friends. I often think how lucky I am to have "met" such lovely people through an internet site. Something I never thought would happen when I first clicked on.

BellaBear · 12/08/2007 17:55

Hi Ready, glad to see you!

kiwibella · 13/08/2007 16:04

hello... I have been wading through all the messages in the conception forum and not quite sure where to start! I am in cycle 1 of charting using fertility friend (online). I have previously read parts of the Toni Weschler book. I also have two gorgeous girls - 11yo and 6 months. The latter was worth the wait!! AF has returned but no idea whether I am ovulating yet. Still trying to work everything out and, fingers crossed, hoping the next dc isn't ten years away .

cityangel · 14/08/2007 23:29

Good luck Kiwibella... any specific charting stuff we can help with?

Having not been there I imaging its definitely worth the wait.

cityangel · 14/08/2007 23:30

Bella Bear how are you doing?

cityangel · 14/08/2007 23:39

Yeah prefer late nights

I don't think Barts is great, but I think it's just being part of the system for now is ok, but if there's an issue we find out about then I really want to speed things up and going private could be an option, albeit an expensive one.

I actually surprised myself in that I don't miss temping and would be unlikely to go back to it. I still find the CM checking and CBFM invaluable. The software to record everything is invaluable as otherwise I would forget.
Once I woke up with my thermometer in my bum cheek

It was a happy Cityangel household your dh sounds lovely. Mine went to the game with my brother and came back as team management experts and happy to win!

Me neither I am so happy to have you and others to chat to. I miss that in RL. Have to constantly pretend I don't want kids at work

ON the side dh jumped me late yesterday on the we have our Hospital appointment tomorrow and am apprehensive.
Still we have plenty of time to sort things out.

Ready · 15/08/2007 18:26

Bellabear - Lovely to see you, hope all is well. How's it all going?

Kiwibella - Are you using charting as contraception at the moment? Or are you trying for number 3 already? Good luck with charting, I found I learnt so much about my body! And the TW book is great!

Cityangel - How did it go today? I have been thinking about you all day!! I logged on this morning, but didn't have time to post a good luck message. Wasn't sure if you would see it before the appointment anyway
I totally understand what you mean about being "in the system" - that's what we thought we'd do, since my GP here is great, and we'll be moving soon. I didn't anticipate things would move as quickly as they have for us. We've been lucky. How much would it cost for you to go private? I hope it doesn't come to that.
I also know what you mean about pretending in RL - it gets me down sometimes, when people ask about kids, and I say "maybe, one day" when what I really want to do is shout "YES, someone kindly tell me how to get some and I will do it tomorrow!!" It's lovely to have people on here that we can talk to without feeling under pressure, well that's how I feel Anyway, enough of my waffle - looking forward to hearing from you.

cityangel · 16/08/2007 00:32

Oh Ready, you're a good mate I'd love to meet in RL. Maybe we could do Christmas drinks somewhere neutral where you can install anti nutter/ stalker radar's to uncover me as a secret nutter!

I have access to Mumsnet at work, but then if I type www.m in the window it will bring up Mumsnet that isn't ideal if I am demonstrating my work to clients so I have to wait until the end of the day at home to use Mumsnet.

Good news. Dh's sperm considered within the normal results. After much debate they allowed us to get a phtocopy of the results. I'll post these later when the visiting family have left. 52% is aparently good we were sceptical and are going to look it up but bottom line they swim so we have IVF options if it comes to that. I was personally amazed expecting an obvious reason for conception not happening for 1 year like a poor result.

The previous ultrasound test shows I have eggs and as luck would have it today is CD22 so they sent me for that test. The next one is a Hysterosalpingogram (HSG): www.mumsnet.com/Talk?topicid=1366&threadid=364129&stamp=070813193444

Am very happy that even if we're in this position in 6 months we know stuff works in principal.

How is everyone xxx

Ready · 16/08/2007 13:35

Cityangel - [smug]
Christmas drinks would be great! Somewhere in the middle? I am sure you are not a secret nutter If you are, I am.
Excellent news about DHs results. If the 52% you mention is motility then that is a great % to have!!
It is weird to not have a reason for not conceiving so far. But the average is 18 months, so 12 cycles is still relatively early days. I know it doesn't feel like it does it!!
So did you give blood today for the progesterone level? If the ultrasound showed you have the eggs, this will just confirm it won't it?
I already said didn't I, that I had my HSG on Friday. It's not a nice experience, but for me, it was not too bad. Hope your appointment comes through soon.

Hope everyone else is ok? When is 3cats back off her hols?

cityangel · 17/08/2007 01:40

Yay looking forward to it. I can head up your way as my godson lives in Manchester. I shall start shopping for my sinister looking outfit now! I need to enable my message settings.

I need to dig out the results but they seem to be good and the doc seemed to think so. I was amazed and was expecting an answer!

I didn't realise the HSG was the test you had. Thanks for all the advice. They only do them on Monday's and my dates will clash with the Bank holiday so next month may be more likely.

How are you feeling. How long does it take to get over it? Does lots of fluid come out?

Right over tired off to bed

Where is everyone, come back and join us xxx

Ready · 18/08/2007 13:22

Cityangel Something to bear in mind with the HSG, I am not sure if every hospital has the same rules, but for mine... they only do the test between CD10 and 21 (not entirely sure why, but am guessing the cervix is better positioned??) and I had to abstain from unprotected sex from last period, and sign a form confirming that I had. I think that there have been instances where the woman is pregnant, but it didn't show up on a test, as too early, and then the x-rays cause problems. In fact, someone told me that if they found out you were pregnant they would suggest a termination .

I went in fully expecting it to hurt (I took ibuprofen beforehand) but it is just more of an uncomfortable and weird sensation.

I bled a little (which is apparently not uncommon). They give you a pad to put on straight after, as some of the dye inevitably comes out. It did feel weird, I was sitting having my cup of tea and waiting to give my last x-ray (after the procedure you get dressed, but have to have one more film taken to see how much of the dye has spilled) and I kept telling DH it felt like I had wet myself .

I felt crampy/twingey (like a period) for the rest of the day. And a little sore interally for a couple of days afterwards. Nothing I couldn't cope with. It's just where the speculum has been insitu and perhaps bruised a little?

Sorry - I have gone on. I think everyone's experience is different. But the nurse and Dr were lovely. Oh, and it was kind of cool (but weird) to see my uterus and tubes, and pelvis up on the screen

Good luck. Hope you get your appointment soon.

3catstoo · 18/08/2007 19:33

Hi girls.

Sorry I haven't been on for a while.
DH was home for a week then we were away.

AF arrived whilst on hols .
Now on cd 7.

Will catch up properly on Monday (no DH to look over my shoulder !)

Welcome back Ready.

cityangel · 20/08/2007 21:55

3catsoo sorry for AF how are you doing?

Ready, your test approach is very different. My hospital only does it CD1 - CD11. I think I may not get test until next month because of the Bank Holiday.

It's supposed to clear stuff out and boost fertility so enjoy :0)

I am 3rd in my fantasy league. Wigan came through for me! Tell dh the refs Liverpool decision made the whole pub question!

We have now started planning holidays around fertile periods only!

Last month's AF was tough and was 3 days late and heavier than I've ever know it. Maybe something happened. Who know's.

Ready · 22/08/2007 21:00

Oh my word...ultra busy at the moment. Packing up and that... really want to catch up, will soon. Promise. Hope you are both doing ok? I say both, I mean city and 3cats - is there anyone else on this thread???

cityangel · 22/08/2007 23:55

Doing ok Ready missing the regular chats we all used to have. Rowed with dh over silly things. PMT.

Are you moving to London? swing by

Have usual AF signs. TMI - Get a sweet smell 3 days before and then hints...

I must be the only person in this chat forum that now believes pg is impossible despite medical tests. I have tried positive thinking, alternative therapies, lots of nookie etc. now I just feel like I'm going through the motions I don't get any 2ww excitement.

New plan is 5 day trip to Vegas in fertile time... in process of booking it. fingers crossed.

How is everyone?

Ready · 23/08/2007 11:44

Cityangel
Vegas!!!! Wow. Sooooo . I really want to go to Vegas.
It is a very quiet thread now isn't it! And to think it used to be very busy! Perhaps we need to search for new recruits?
You are not the only person on this forum that think pg is impossible. I have been having plenty of moments thinking the very same thing! It's hard. But we have to hang in there.

3cats - How was your holiday? Did you have a lovely time? Sorry you didn't have any exciting news upon your return. How's the thyroid treatment going?

Anyone else lurking?? Come, join us!!

rattling · 23/08/2007 12:12

"Hang in there"? Does this mean the original, chipper Ready is back?

And just when I need her. Hooray!
