parsnips massive congratulations lovely! What a special way to tell DH won't steal this idea at all, how did he take the news? I'm so excited for you, have you worked out your due date.

grumpy that's fab about how supportive your colleague was. It must really help having someone who knows the position you are in to help guide you a bit and back up what you were already thinking.

Mummyme87 · 05/05/2017 06:04

parsnips congratulations!! Fab news.

grumpy good news your colleague is being helpful and supportive!

HopefullyDothButterNoParsnips · 05/05/2017 06:07

Thanks JB! All being well our due date should be 11 Jan. Although I'm hoping to have an elective caesarean so they may get take me earlier. I can stop work at Christmas fingers crossed.

DH was really happy. He kind of guessed when he saw the box and the fact that I dragged him out of bed at 7.45 to tell him! Told him AF was late yesterday. He has now gone into planning overdrive!

How are you doing?

Also grumpy sounds like you have a real ally in that colleague. Glad she was supportive.

JB1983 · 05/05/2017 06:21

Aww bless him, that's lovely.

I'm doing ok, spotting again this morning so will just have to wait and see what happens and I thought the TWW was bad

HopefullyDothButterNoParsnips · 05/05/2017 06:48

Oh bless! Don't worry. Little JbJunior is probably just burrowing away in there getting comfy. Fingers crossed for you that it's nothing to worry about.

DancingUnicorn · 05/05/2017 07:19

Parsnips congratulations!! So glad we weren't all going crazy over the lines! Glad your DH is excited and planning everything! We have a new wave of Jan babies!

Jb oh, it sucks that you have more spotting. Still likely to be nothing, but it's just so hard. And yes, I remember the feeling of thinking about how long there is to wait!!

Grumpy I'm so glad you felt the support from your colleague. I feel sad for you that you'll have to hide it for as long as possible, but really good that you have a game plan.

HeyJupiter · 05/05/2017 07:26

Huge congratulations parnsips - what wonderful news!!! So happy for you and so glad it's now been confirmed by a digital :) How are you feeling? Any symptoms yet?

Sucks about the spotting JB, but hopefully just part of the implantation process. How many days of brown spotting would you normally get pre-AF?

grumpy so glad you had a good chat with your colleague, how reassuring - and good to hear it from someone who understands your job role and all the subtleties that come with it. Excellent news.

Humped people - how are you coping with fatigue at the moment? I'm finding the constant exhaustion really hard to manage. Fortunately am on annual leave for a week after next week so counting down the days. Am out with friends for the next two evenings and to be honest I'm dreading it because I'll know that come 9pm I'll be useless. Can't wait until I can just tell people. One of my friends knows but not telling the others as we all work together (and one can't keep a secret haha!) Need this placenta to hurry up and take over so I can start feeling more normal hopefully.

HeyJupiter · 05/05/2017 07:34

Wiggley forgot to say good luck for your 2ww!! You never know...:)

HopefullyDothButterNoParsnips · 05/05/2017 07:37

How far along are you now Jupiter? No real symptoms so far. Little bit of heartburn (but I can be like that anyway) and boobs are a bit bigger so that's a bonus! They feel a bit tender but not sore. Not sure when sickness likely to kick in (if at all). Not looking forward to this exhaustion everyone seems to get hit with!

buzzmoon · 05/05/2017 07:44

parsnips that's such a lovely way to tell him!! Congratulations! How do you feel now it's really happening? :) :)

jb hope the spotting stops soon ❤️

grumpy glad you're feeling better about telling someone at work, maybe she can cover for you drink wise at future events! :) she's probably right about not telling them for a while. I really don't believe that there's no discrimination because they can't. They'll find a way to be dicks about it! Sounds like you've got a good plan there though :)

buzzmoon · 05/05/2017 07:47

jupiter sorry you're feeling so exhausted. I know how you feel! I've been getting DP to literally do everything I feel awful, like fetch me drinks, blankets, stuff around the house etc. I'm finding commuting the worst tbh. I do feel a bit better this week although still in bed straight away after work by 8:30-9! Can you duck out early of your dinner when you start to feel tired? So excited for your leave! What have you got planned apart from dinners? :)

HbH · 05/05/2017 07:57

Aaaaaaaaaahh congratulations Parsnips glad all the confusion is over and all confirmed in writing!! Very cute babygrow!

Glad you've had a positive outcome and received good advice from telling your colleague Grumpy it all seems so tactical in your industry!

jupiter all I've been thinking is roll on the second trimester!! Cannot wait to have more energy and motivation! I'm ok at work cos im constantly busy & talking and forget about it but as soon as i sit down I want to go to sleep & socialising in the evenings?? So not up for that... I've become completely boring! I'm SURE we'll come out the other side! Not long to go... I'm 10 weeks today!

Happy Friday Everyone!

Seven0fNine · 05/05/2017 08:01

yaaay happy humped parsnips xxxx

buzz all sounds good about the promotion!!

I'm so sorry about AF otters We're here if you need us xxxxx

Lol Wiggley that's exactly what happens every month...it's ridiculous!!!!

Sorry you're feeling so tired Jupiter xxx

CD26 (out of probably 38 again)...apparently in fw and so dtd last night. OPK's still haven't arrived - couldn't get them on Prime so I guess I'm having an OPK free month (which may not be a bad thing) :D Working until 9pm tonight but at least can work from home for a few hours this afternoon.

HbH · 05/05/2017 08:01

Oh Buzz My DH is literally like my servant at the mo! I feel so bad, he gets me drinks, makes my hot water bottle, washes up, gets me a hoody/blanket, puts my work stuff in the boot, i just sit on the sofa like a knackered bloated princess😂

I was thinking, how the eff do people do this for a second time when there's a toddler/little person running round? & there's zero opportunity to chill out?? Respect!

Tigger83 · 05/05/2017 09:07

Morning all! Beautiful sunny day. I'm starting to get af cramps and back pain. Looks like my cycle is going to be around 26 days if I come on tomorrow which seems very short considering I'm usually 30 days but I guess it's all up in the air after the op! So we'll be back to dtd eod I've prepared my oh lol.

Hope everyone has a lovely weekend.

TheGrumpySquirrel · 05/05/2017 10:00

Parsnips woohoo!! Massive congrats! So happy for you. Curious why you want an elective caesarean for first baby? I'm being nosy so don't feel you have to answer that! Will you have the baby in Dubai?

Jupiter I guess everyone is different, I felt the worst from 4-6 weeks, exhausted, dizzy and off food. Since 6/7 weeks I've felt much more normal (except I get tired after eating, like my body can't supply blood to both brain and digestion at same time). You and buzz must be close to 12wks now right? Or are you going by your new dates buzz?

Tigger sorry AF got you, I reckon things will go back to normal for you next cycle x

JB i hope the spotting calms down soon x

Happy humping seven Wink

HB I'm right behind you, I'm 8+5 today, only 10 days until my harmony test, very excited to know the sex!

Mummy I'm looking forward to meeting up when I'm back! Although I'm off to Barcelona on Tuesday night until next Sunday it's a hard life 😎

Dancing and everyone, thanks for the support re work, it feels a relief to have an ally (although she's based here so won't be at any European drinks events)! Now I know I'm doing the right thing to wait to announce it. Work is actually going really well otherwise, I'm hopeful to do well at year end pay review. Going to emphasise my DH will be a SAHD!

buzzmoon · 05/05/2017 10:04

This is in my travel insurance docs:

Not covered:

  1. Any claim arising from pregnancy related conditions not due to complications of pregnancy which first arise after departing on your trip. Normal pregnancy or childbirth, or travelling when your medical practitioner has recorded your pregnancy as high risk or being at a heightened risk of premature birth, would not constitute an unforeseen event.
Does this mean if anything happened pregnancy wise I wouldn't be covered? The double negative is really confusing me!
JB1983 · 05/05/2017 10:11

Enjoy your week off Jupiter, do you have anything planned or will there be a Jupiter shaped indent left in the sofa after your week off 😂 Hopefully the tiredness will start to ease for the humped ladies who are soon reaching the 2nd trimester.

Is confused on holiday, haven't see her comment in a while but may have missed it with the speed this thread moves.

Haha Tigger I love that you've prepared oh for his duties next cycle.

Good luck for getting it on in your fertile week seven, must be stressful with an irregular cycle and no OPKs.

Happy Friday folks

TheGrumpySquirrel · 05/05/2017 10:20

Buzz it means if your pregnancy has already been classified high risk, and anything happens, even normal birth, you aren't covered. If you get complications for the first time on the trip, you are covered. If you had any issues before you left and then had complications on the trip, you won't be covered.

TheGrumpySquirrel · 05/05/2017 10:21

Sorry actually I think it means normal pregnancy or birth is not covered at all because it's not unforeseen. I think they make the wording confusing on purpose

Mummyme87 · 05/05/2017 10:31

buzz I have no idea what that insurance doc actually means. I know some insurers won't cover pregnancy.

grumpy looking forward to meeting you!

9dpo.. nothing really to report.

JB1983 · 05/05/2017 11:17

Unforeseen Complications of Pregnancy and Childbirth: Toxaemia, gestational hypertension, pre-eclampsia, ectopic pregnancy, hydatidiform mole (molar pregnancy), post partum haemorrhage, retained placenta membrane, placental abruption, hyperemesis gravidarum, placenta praevia, stillbirths, miscarriage, medically necessary emergency Caesarean sections/medically necessary termination and any premature births more than 8 weeks (or 16 weeks in the case of a known multiple pregnancy) prior to the expected delivery date.

This is what my insurance says would be covered.

While we are on the subject of insurance: do you need to inform your insurer that you are pregnant?

buzzmoon · 05/05/2017 11:21

hb i know!! I follow someone on insta who has 8 kids?! How the hell would you get through pregnancy with another 7 little buggers running round!

tigger hope you enjoy the sun! And hope af doesn't arrive tomorrow

grumpy don't know what to do dates wise so waiting till next Tuesday to firm up. I'll be 12 weeks tomorrow. Wait it's Friday! 12 weeks today!! Woop! 🎉 thanks for insistence help- so you think I'm covered? As I've not got any issues. I might ring them just in case. I mean hopefully nothing happens anyway but nice to have it. Also only going to Europe so covered with that Ehic card thingy?

Yes I was wondering about confused hope she's okay!

buzzmoon · 05/05/2017 11:22

jb maybe I'll ring them up to tell them just in case anyway

mummy how are you feeling about Saturday testing?

HopefullyDothButterNoParsnips · 05/05/2017 11:49

Grumpy the idea of labour scares the shit out of me. I'm just going to ask for a section. It's all private over here anyway so the insurance will cover it and I'd prefer being able to just pick the date. I'll speak to the doc and see what they say nearer the time. I just can't see me coping with a birth (first world problem I know).
