So yet again, af has got me. Brown spotting this morning after a cycle where I was actually genuinely convinced I'd done it this time. Oh well.

Only on month 5 of actively trying. I'm ttc no2. I'm awaiting a referral for a hospital appointment to investigate scarring in my uterus so every month that goes by without a pregnancy, the more I can't deny that there's obviously something wrong (I've conceived twice, both just after a missed pill so 5 months is long in comparison!)

Just thought I'd say hi and hope THIS might be our month and we have a chance at a baby in 2018 instead :)

This is my first time with my wife but i tried on my own a few years ago but obviously it didn't work!

We are using a known donor so using a syringe on day 11 and 13 I think. I do have some softcups from last time though, what do you recommend? I also bought a pack off eBay for this time which includes two specimen cups and two 10ml syringes.

SamJay1990 · 18/04/2017 15:46

Oh I hope it works for you both this time! Personally I think the syringe is very good with it being easy to use, although I've heard good things to about the soft cup I felt more relaxed this way. I warm the syringe up in-between my legs before I draw the swimmers into it. I read somewhere that slowly pressing the plunger was actually better than doing it really fast but who knows, it's all trial and error!

I usually ovulate anywhere between cycle days 12-16. A bit earlier this month, I'm not using an ovulation kit or anything so just judging by the dates and my ovulation symptoms. If it seems to not be working for us after a fair few attempts I will probably up my game and start doing more! Just hoping at the moment that we are one of those lucky ones Hmm

Maybebaby2 · 18/04/2017 17:02

Hi everyone and welcome to new faces, sorry to hear of any difficulties and hoping this is a lucky month for us all.

Saw GP today, had very stressful weekend after getting blood results back last Thursday hearing the words "menopause levels". After a lot of internet reading I worked out the receptionist meant FSH levels, I really wish she hadn't used the word menopause! Anyway panic ensued but thankfully I got an appointment today and GP said levels look normal! So huge Relief mixed with annoyance at myself for panicking!

Now Im trying to destress but not doing too well. I'm relieved about blood results but I think the whole process is starting to get to me a little and I want knock it on the head... the stress that is not the whole ttc! So I'm wondering has anyone tried acupuncture for stress relief?

Also about the OPKs does everyone test twice a day? I only test once so am I doing it wrong?

juneybean · 18/04/2017 17:27

maybe i tend to do it at least twice as if the surge is at say 5pm and i last tested at 10am and won't test til 10am the next day i think i would miss my surge? Not really sure though!

Sunshinesaz86 · 18/04/2017 17:41

So pleased to hear that maybe. I wondered if it may have been receptionist error! (Shouldn't happen but it does). I've never tried acupuncture but have read good things!

Good luck juney and sanjay with both of your inseminations! Hope you get your timings just right! X x

Maybebaby2 · 18/04/2017 18:29

I usually test 5pm might start testing in the morning too, will be at work at that time most days though but not impossible. My tests (amazon cheapies) say not to use FMU, would be easier if I could!

Definitely going to look into acupuncture for stress relief although I think a good night's sleep will also help!

Good luck Juney and Samjay, so tricky to time ov but fab you get symptoms to go by, wish my body gave me some clues too!

CD 10 here ov should be in next day or two, AF or bfp due may 6th.

lookatthemoon · 18/04/2017 18:43

Hello new passengers!

Maybe - that is great news. I would be soo angry at the receptionist for causing so much unnecessary stress!!

I had a friend who swears by acupuncture for ttc. She had a lot of fertility issues and had recurrent losses. She also found it super relaxing.

Re OPKs, I test twice a day around cd 13, 14 (once a day up to that). If I didn't test twice a day this month I would have missed it that day. Last month I missed it altogether. I almost always get my smiley face in the evenings even though it says to use FMU.

Desari · 18/04/2017 18:53

Hi ladies, mind if I hop on board?

Age: 31
TTC #1
Cycle #3
CD 1

AF has arrived today perfectly timed to coincide with a bout of gastroenteritis- joy of joys!

Good luck everyone - here's to lots of New Year babies!

Maybebaby2 · 18/04/2017 18:58

I don't think she realised what a bomb she had dropped on me Lookat, but yeah I was pretty annoyed! Got to forget it now and move on so not to keep feeling stressed!

I've just found a website for acupuncturist just up the road from me that has rave reviews especially for fertility. Might call in and have a chat this week.

Ok defo seems I should opk twice a day, only started opks last cycle so wasn't sure what to do, lucky I bought a job lot on amazon! 😂

Emz01 · 18/04/2017 19:18

Hey everyone mind if I jump aboard?

TTC #2 DS is 2.5
Cycle 2
Had a mc in Jan so decided to have a couple of months off from trying.
CD1 of a usually 25 day cycle so will be testing around 12/5

Justwaitingforaline · 18/04/2017 19:30

Hey Emz! Also ttc #2 with a 2.5 year old and also on 25 day cycles!

juneybean · 18/04/2017 20:28

Welcome new people Grin

Emz01 · 18/04/2017 21:25

@Justwaitingforaline Hey! Lovely to hear from someone in a very similar boat to me! Have you been ttc for long? What CD are you on?

juneybean · 18/04/2017 21:26

What are everyone's maternity benefits like at work? I'm tempted to try an negotiate a better package...

SquashyMummy · 18/04/2017 21:34

Evening ladies, can I join the train?

TTC #2 DS is 21 months
Cycle 1
CD 13 (as in 13 days since stopping mini pill but who knows really!)

We were planning to wait until June so my cycles could settle down and I could enjoy a hen party and holiday properly but the broodiness was too much. Not planning to opk etc unless it takes a while as would probably make me more stressed.

peanutbutteroreo · 18/04/2017 21:43

june my maternity package was 18 weeks full pay, then statutory up until 9 months, then nothing. I think that's pretty good?

juneybean · 18/04/2017 21:45

That sounds great to me peanut my company currently only offers SMP and two girls are already pregnant so feel like it's a no go to try and negotiate but worth a try I think?

Justwaitingforaline · 18/04/2017 22:08

Emz third month! I'm on CD11 at the moment! DD was an unplanned pregnancy ( coil baby!) so it very weird TTC this time!

BlueeSpottyTiger · 18/04/2017 22:35

juney i get 19w full pay...21w smp and 13w unpaid.

I took 1 year with DD which ended being about 14m with hols..but now I'm only partime and can't save asmuch i will only have around 10/11months if i get pregnant this cycle x

BlueeSpottyTiger · 18/04/2017 22:37

Welcome squashy 👋 x

BlueeSpottyTiger · 18/04/2017 22:38

Oops... Welcome everyone! Didn't read back so far x

TriJo · 18/04/2017 23:21

16 weeks full pay, 23 SMP, 13 unpaid here. Will be taking the lot with #2.

WantToGoingTo · 19/04/2017 05:53

Hi ladies, placeholdong while I wait for af as had a bfn and huge temp drop today at 12dpo.

Ttc#2
Af/bfp due 19th may
DS1 is 21 months

boatrace30 · 19/04/2017 07:37

2 weeks full pay, 4 weeks at 90%, 12weeks half pay and then smp. Managed 10months with DD and wouldn't want to do less this time (though I'm now part time) The advantage I guess of it taking so long to conceive is that we have longer to save.
Don't forget to factor in child benefit if you qualify. I was actually amazed at how well we managed on smp.

CinnamonSwirlGirl85 · 19/04/2017 09:40

Is there room for another one on the train? Smile

TTC#2
DS is 6 months old. He was a long time coming so we are cracking on early as expect it may take a long time (if it's even possible!)
Currently CD26 of cycle1 and can feel AF coming in the next few days!
