Thanks @WantToGoingTo. Did an OPK this morning nothing yet but hoping it'll help me work out my cycle after 3+ years with the Mirena.

Wondering ladies if you tell your partners if you're ovulating or not?

WantToGoingTo · 19/03/2017 12:46

Haha no, my dh told me in no uncertain terms he doesn't want to know as he is not dtd on demand 😂

Sazwest · 19/03/2017 13:04

I tell my hubby when I am ovulating to make sure I get the deed on the right days haha x

WantToGoingTo · 19/03/2017 21:06

Ah man metallic taste today is unreal. So I tested. Bfn obviously as only 9dpo. Going to test tomorrow with fmu but trying not to get hopes up as only symptom really is metallic taste and my guess at my cervix. Last time I had killing nips but nothing in that department now...

Hi everyone, I hope this is ok to post.
I am a newbie to Mumsnet and joined because I am a training early years professional and aspiring to become a social worker. I am classed as a mature student (I am twenty years old) and am in my first year of university. My partner and I are engaged and know we want to be together. We are getting married when we are both done with uni and in our careers but I've been so emotional and distressed lately about starting a family because I want to have a child sooner rather than later because I know many employers won't want to employ someone who get's pregnant in the first year of their career because of maternity leave and stuff. But I know if I got pregnant now I would have to leave university and suspend my studies. I have to do an extra two years to gain my social work qualification so was thinking of starting our family then, as we don't mind having babies before we get married. I would more than likely be in work at this time, too. Either in a schools setting or paid placement. But I just feel so ready to be a mum and came here for a bit of advice from any mums who have ever felt the same?

InfinityPlus · 21/03/2017 06:36

Hi @user1486412305 welcome. I'm not in the same position as you, so feel limited in what advice/ insight I could offer (I'm a tad older than you and only just starting TTC. I'm sure someone on here will be be able to help

InfinityPlus · 21/03/2017 06:51

DTD last night and then obviously my brain starts sensing all these twinges 😂. According to the OPK I'm not even ovulating and probably won't until the weekend! Trying not to think about it all is really rather hard.

hanna87 · 21/03/2017 07:41

Caved in and tested today-bfn! Just waiting for AF now 😶

OP posts:
SausageBrain · 21/03/2017 08:00

Hello all, hope you don't mind me joining - am a newbie here and not sure of the best place to park my bum!

Bit of background: I'm 30, ttc #2 (ds is 3.5), been trying since January (although not really in earnest as moved house that month!).

I'm about 12 dpo, cd27 so af due in next few days (ovia app says Friday). I usually spot for 2-3 days before so am obsessively checking for any sign every time i go to the loo! I've been cramping since Sunday though so in my heart of hearts know I'm out.

Ovia says i can test from today but i cant bring myself to do it until I'm actually late! I am a massive wimp Blush. I'm going to try and hold out until the weekend although i am certain the witch will show her face before then. It's just that there's always still hope until she's officially here - probably completely delusional! I won't even buy tests until I'm late because i know the second i put my hand on the test box in the supermarket af will mug me off and decide it's time!!

Anyway, i shall keep you posted (if you don't mind Blush).

hanna87 · 21/03/2017 15:15

Welcome @SausageBrain and @user1486412305 🙂🙂

@SausageBrain i caved in this morning! And the bfn didn't surprise-feeling no different or showing any symptoms so not a surprise..but still disappointed! Fingers crossed for u x

SausageBrain · 21/03/2017 16:35

Thanks for the welcome hanna! You are a braver lady than me getting your test out! Sorry to hear it was bfn but you know what they say - it's not over until af officially shows up.... Also, don't they say that a lack of symptoms can be a symptom in itself (if that makes sense)?! So you never know, def try again in a couple of days if you can wait. Fingers crossed for you Smile

My cramps have eased off a little today, which is odd, they normally stick around until af and just ramp up in intensity. Also i've been feeling a bit weird today, a bit anxious and spaced out but pre-af probably makes me feel like that sometimes anyway. I'm on cd28 and normally have started spotting by now (positive sign?!) but ovia says i'm not due until friday so there's still time really. Also boobs feel slightly less sore today which is definitely a really bad sign.

I feel like i should just test to put myself out of my misery, I am a total symptom spotting loon at this stage of the cycle. I even hovered by the pregnancy tests in the supermarket today but didn't have the guts to do it! Argh!

bigcakes · 21/03/2017 16:44

Please can I join too?
Im ttc#2. My little boy is nearly five but I am no longer with his dad. My partner and I have been trying now for about 4 months and I'm really trying not to get wrapped up in it totally but inevitably I am (control freak tendencies!)
Im popping to the doctors tomorrow for a check up as I am 36 and due to a previous ectopic, I'm a bit concerned that stuff isn't working down there. I did have my little boy after the ectopic but its still worrying - see what I mean by control freak?!

SausageBrain · 21/03/2017 17:36

Hi bigcakes. I'm afraid i don't have any words of wisdom about ectopics, I'm sorry you've had to go through that before. It's only natural after something like that to be worried, I know I would be. On the positive side, you have your son so if it happened once hopefully it can happen again for you. Fingers crossed for you.

I too have control freak tendencies (I am a loon), think my husband would freak out if he knew how much i was overthinking about the whole thing! We can let the craziness out on here so we don't lose our minds! Shock

Good luck at the gp tomorrow, hope they are helpful. Keep us posted Smile

InfinityPlus · 21/03/2017 18:20

I'm another loon. Despite being new to the TTC club (this weekend!!) I find myself talking to my body asking it to be kind to the little swimmers and let one through!! Okay writing this I realise I sound more of a total crackpot than a loon 😂😂😂🤣

SausageBrain · 21/03/2017 18:30

Haha Infinity! Well you never know, anything is worth a try!! Positive vibes and all that. If you end up getting bfp everyone will be doing it Grin There's a thread at the moment saying that doing handstands after sex might help Hmm - at least talking to your body is a bit more discreet and requires less upper body strength!

bigcakes · 22/03/2017 11:00

Ha ha yes me too SausageBrain and Infinity - I'm trying to contain the overthinking to here so that I'm not constantly whinging at my boyfriend which, lets face it, doesn't lend itself well to productive sexy time. ha ha!

SausageBrain · 23/03/2017 09:09

How is everyone getting on? How was gp bigcakes? Have you tested again yet hanna87?

Still no sign of af for me, due on today but nothing so far. Normally I would spot for a couple of days before so would have expected to see something by now....Dare I be cautiously optimistic?!?!? Also no cramps like i would normally get and boobs are still sore (this normally goes away right before af arrives full force).

Anyway, i was going to test on Saturday if no sign because i wanted to wait until i was well & truly late but my husband's brother is coming to stay with us for the weekend tomorrow evening. So if by some miracle it happens to be a bfp, i don't want him around while i try to digest it (wishful thinking Sad). Also if i test on Saturday & it's bfn, i don't want to have to face him for the rest of the day & pretend nothing has happened. Soooooo....think I'm going to bite the bullet & test today instead!! Means i have time to get over the inevitable bfn before brother in law comes tomorrow eve.

Feeling mega nervous & a tiny smidge of cautious excitement. I know it will be bfn because i can just feel af is playing silly beggars this month Hmm. Anyway, i will keep you all posted! xx

bigcakes · 23/03/2017 09:51

GP obviously thought I was crazy - I was a bit upset about how patronising she was as she is usually pretty good. Just to add weight to her theory, AF turned up this morning. Longest cycle I have every had. Its a relief (at least its working in there) but also confusing as now I have no idea what day I might be ovulating next month. I'm logging everything on an app at the moment to try and avoid temperature taking each morning which I know my boyfriend would find hilarious.
Wise move Sausage - the last thing you need is extra people around when you test. Fingers crossed!!!!!

SausageBrain · 23/03/2017 12:06

Oh bigcakes, I'm sorry gp was useless. Was it that she didn't see what the problem was as you've already conceived your DS despite your history? Did she have any advice for you at all? I'm sorry af showed her horrible face today but at least it's given you some reassurance that everything is working as it should be!

So, i did my test and think i got bfp?!?! ShockShockHmm

I've attached a pic as can't quite believe it! Plus it was only a sainsbury's cheapie so may not be reliable?!?! Think i will try a proper brand name one tomorrow & see what it says!

Newbie Intro!
Sazwest · 23/03/2017 12:59

@SausageBrain I definitely would say that's a huge BFP 🙂🙂. Congratulations lovely xx

InfinityPlus · 23/03/2017 13:06

@bigcakes congratulations to you. I'm sure the rest is correct. Smile

SausageBrain · 23/03/2017 13:21

Thanks saz. I'm getting all worked up now over-scrutinizing it, thinking it might be a false positive because the line that goes down doesn't look as strong as the line that's going across. Confused

I'm going to nip out and get a first response for the morning, hopefully that will clear things up.

Sazwest · 23/03/2017 13:22

That's definitely a positive xx

InfinityPlus · 23/03/2017 13:43

@SausageBrain congratulations we're meant for you

@bigcakes I'm so sorry about you GP visit.

SausageBrain · 23/03/2017 14:10

Thanks Saz and Infinity! Can't believe it at all, absolutely in shock, definitely thought i was out this month! Nearly fell off my perch the toilet when i saw the cross in the test window!

Think I'm just paranoid because I don't feel pregnant, I don't really have any symptoms. When i was pregnant with ds i had tonnes of symptoms that made me test, although he was a surprise so think I tested about a week after af was due on. I had hyperemesis with him too so felt sick v.early on before i got my bfp but feel fine at the moment.

I don't have cramps like i would normally at af time but i do keep getting tugging, pinching pains in ovary region which are contributing to my paranoia i think. Hmm

Anyway, i popped to boots and got a couple of frer's so i can try one of those in the morning and see!
