Ambi · 04/04/2007 08:34

Tested this morning, a feint BFP, kinda in shock, even fished out yesterdays test out of the bin like a crazy person to see an even feinter BFP, I'd not been checking out the development time. I've felt bloated for a couple of days now, but presumed it was pre menstrual. Think I'm gonna buy a digital one today just for my own piece of mind! Good luck everyone.

scorpio1 · 04/04/2007 08:35

Brilliant news Ambi..

Ambi · 04/04/2007 08:50

Do you reckon it would work on midday pee or must I retest tomorrow on first morning pee?

Oh balls I'm way too impatient, I'll get 2 and do both if required.

daisyboohoo · 04/04/2007 08:53

Good luck Scorpio.. Hope AF stays away.
You're right - try not to think about it. After my first test (that you all persuaded me to do!!) was neg I started concentrating on next month. I'd warned dp what a busy month he had ahead of him!!

Caz10 · 04/04/2007 08:54

Morning!

Ambi that sounds exciting! And scorpio1 too!

Daisy how are you, is the reality of it sinking in?

Well I wasn't going to test until tomorrow, so of course it's the 1st thing I did when I got up this morning! Another VERY faint line, but again we could both see it, and it was after 3 minutes, chucked it after that to avoid any wishful thinking later on.

I'm still on the cheap dippy stick things, so tomorrow I think I will go for the expensive one which I have been saving in the bathroom cupboard!

If that shows a bfp or even a lsp I think I might go to the docs to get them to check. What do they do, do I need to bring a sample or do they do a blood test? I will feel so silly if the doc says it's a bfn but at least I will be able to relax!

Good luck everyone else! x

scorpio1 · 04/04/2007 08:54

first morning would be better, but do more if you fancy it!although they might show up -,even if it is really + because the hormone is more concentrated in the morning wee.

good luck anyway!

scorpio1 · 04/04/2007 08:56

doctors tests are only the same as what you can do-i got a - at 10 weeks with ds1!

it may put your mind at rest though....

Caz10 · 04/04/2007 09:13

aaaah i thought maybe they had some magic extra sensitive test! Might just wait then. I guess nothing is certain until af does or doesn't show up, even if I keep getting faint positives.

Keep meaning to ask, what do people on here say re nights out/drinking etc? I don't drink an awful lot or very often, but at a meal out or whatever I would normally have a couple of glasses of wine. I've managed it so far by saying that I have an early start the next day/work to do etc but I'm on hols now so they won't work! Does everyone just seem to be on a constant course of "antibiotics"?!!

daisyboohoo · 04/04/2007 09:26

Caz - I was using cheap dippy ones too. The first 2 I tested feint line didnt appear straight away and was very feint. 3rd one 2nd line appeared straight away but was still lighter (which is normal). Didnt believe it until bought another test and got a bfp in late afternoon. But looking back it was + all along.

Not actually sure what I need to do now? Contact docs I guess?

I have the same dilema tonight. Meeting up with friends. I thought we would meet this afternoon so could excuse drinking due to day time. But they want to meet tonight. I know they wont let me drive as I'm not at work tomorrow and one of the girls is. The anti biotics wont work as they will ask too many questions and I'm a hopeless liar!!

We are planning not to tell anyone until 12 wks but my parents are visiting this weekend. They are always nagging us to have a baby and I know when they start this weekend dp will just laugh and blurt it out!! He's already nearly let slip to his sisters. And my mum can spot a lie a mile off!!

tigersEasterchick · 04/04/2007 09:36

Just say you don't feel like it. If they ask why just shrug. If they pester you then get mardy. They will probably work it out but you haven't actually told them. Sorry if this seems a bit pathetic but it was all I could do!

We didn't wait 12 weeks to tell our parents, our dbs or our bosses but did wait to tell everyone else.

kazza25 · 04/04/2007 09:44

Daisy: you don't need to do anything until 7/8 weeks, you should see your GP that week so there's time to get you booked in for your 12 week scan/blood test and you probably won't even see a midwife til 15 weeks when they listen to heartbeat for 1st time!
hope that helps!
congratulations by the way!!

tigersEasterchick · 04/04/2007 10:02

I think it varies area to area. My mw said they don't try and hear the heartbeat for a while as it is often not audible which can be upsetting. If I were you, I'd give the doctor's a ring and see what they say. You can get the ball rolling with your 12 week scan any time now and then it's just a matter of waiting for things to kick in as time progresses.

Bbabymumma · 04/04/2007 10:07

Ambi and Caz10 - wow - a quiet congratulations! brilliant. A line is a line. Ambi if you test later it might not show so wait till tomorrow - i know that feels like forever. How exciting. This thread is doing v.well.

Scorpio1 do you think you will try to test?

Awen - would your consultant be able to advise about testing/do a test tomorrow?

Regarding drinking, yes, I went down the antibiotic route with my dd. Depends on how good you are on telling white lies! It makes people suspicious straight away. Say its a tooth/gum infection because then you don't have to be ill as well. I was on antibiotics the other day and everyone accused me of being pg which was frustrating. Regarding telling people your pg I did the same as tigersEasterchick. Couldn't hide it from work because I was puking so much.

scorpio1 · 04/04/2007 11:27

im trying not to think about it,but i feel so , im prob not pg and all this hoping is for nothing.i need to take my mind off it.ideas??
sorry i just feel a bit [rubbish]

tigersEasterchick · 04/04/2007 11:29

I hear the weather is nice in Cornwall today ... any nice walks near you? Take the dcs for a bike ride? Or just sit in a and eat some chocolate? Sorry, not overly helpful, there's a thread of shag, marry of dump going on ... !

Bbabymumma · 04/04/2007 11:34

Who lives in Cornwall? Very jealous. Weather in London is miserable and grey today. Sorry - enough about the weather. Taking your mind off it already!

Make something Easterish with the kiddies I reckon if you're at home. Cake or decorate eggs. Stay away from chemists!

I'm off to read shag marry or dump.

scorpio1 · 04/04/2007 11:38

i live in cornwall weather is lush,we are in the garden now.

thankyou for your support

Bbabymumma · 04/04/2007 11:43

God i am so jealous. Go to the beach!

MrsMcEasterBunny · 04/04/2007 12:25

Hello all, gorgeous day here today temps still high and feeling more optimistic than most days

Lucy1977, you are very welcome I?m glad I could help. The breastfeeding may well have a lot to do with it. I think my book said to look out very carefully for EWCM as a guide to whether or not fertility had returned or not. Now that I know that, I?d say that they might not agree to do a 21 day test on you given your circumstances. I haven?t read the chapter as it doesn?t apply to me (yet!) but there is a good one in Toni Weschler?s book on Taking Charge of Your Fertility. I?ll have a quick look at it for you over the weekend (away on business tonight). The book also has pictures of fertile CM! another way to think of it is, is it wetter than the other CM you have and is its texture lubricative, can it stretch between your fingers? All signs of it being EWCM. Also the wetter CM tends to create round or oval stains on underwear rather than lines. Hope that helps!

Scorpio ? looking good hon, hang in there! try not to feel if you get your BFP it?ll be a terrible waste and if you don?t, you?re closer to getting one! Yes, I am an eternal optimist; tell me to get lost if you like!

Hi Awen know the feeling! Good luck!

Hello and welcome Catbabymommy ? lots of lovely new friends on here! From a textbook perspective, you probably OVd the day of your wettest CM which should also have been the day before it came to an abrupt end if that makes sense! Sounds like you?ve been VERY busy fingers crossed!

Hi Tigerseasterchick hope the appointment goes well.

Hello Fifiworld ? how are you? Still symptom spotting?

Ambi fabby! Congratulations! You?re our 3rd this week aren?t you? Very lucky thread this is!!

Daisy ? seems that you will be taking lots of friends with you to the AN thread! hope I can come too ? is it Nov or Dec for you? don?t put that charm away! Make an appointment with your Dr and get a form for the midwife to get into the ?system? but they might send you away until a few weeks have passed. I was fed up that they weren?t as excited as me! but it?s really understandable given that they see it everyday! I drank a lot of Virgin G&Ts, if you really don?t want to be found out, get the first round and get the waiter/waitress on side!

Caz10 ? fingers crossed! If your GPs are anything like mine, they won?t even test until you are 5-6 weeks when I made an appointment after 4 BFPs when I was 4 weeks, the Dr asked DH if he could ?verify? that I?d got them! I was very it was as if she thought I was some mad woman making it up! She?d never even met me before! ( what?s in my notes????)

Re excuses for nights out ? I got my BFP the morning of my friend?s weekend hen I was panicking that all my friends would realise as we?ve known each other for years and all drink far too much anyway, I enlisted the support of another friend and fooled them all. I made sure I made the most noise about needing a drink, then held my glass most of the time and made sure I filled up everyone else?s. I also didn?t want to lie to anyone so just said I was trying to cut back or felt a bit off (all true!) good luck with it! There were some who couldn?t be fooled and had to be told which was fine as when things went wrong for me, they were just the people I turned to for support and it was a relief that they already knew half the story!
