rahrah - for you a new thread!

OP posts:
Ready · 13/02/2007 18:29

Greedy, dh is out, so no sex tonight Besides, we are doing it every other day (every day when I get a +ve OPK) throughout the cycle, so tonight is our night off

seaside72 · 13/02/2007 18:31

Oh Ready - you are not patronising at all - honestly I know the advice is good -it's just a weird thing ? you would think we want this so badly we should be able to BD every day for months? after all - its worth it, I have always been someone who gets what they want but not effortlessly - always with a lot of work - it never comes easily. So I should be prepared to work at this

But I don't know why - i think maybe subconsciously I am maybe a bit caught up with hoping it will just happen, but who am I kdding - there are no immaculate conceptions!!

Then there is a part of me that thinks - maybe we just don't want it enough - God its so complicated and overthought - arghhh

Greedy - thanks for the great consoling thoughts- its comforting to know some people have tried the shagaday approach and it hasn't worked!! IYKWIM - You give me hope!!

Mum03 - when is your AF actually due - I guess I would test if it was late?

Ready · 13/02/2007 18:38

Seaside, not saying sex every day I know what you mean, about it being so complicated, when we decided to go for it, just assumed it would happen first month C'est la vie!!

honeyapple · 13/02/2007 18:51

Evening!
Seaside- last month we shagged every blooming day from CD7-CD17 i thought that it would definitely do the trick,.. but nope, here i am this month TTC again! With my DD we had unprotected sex one occasion... and got PG.... so it really is a bit of a lottery.
I'm sure that in the last 6 mths i must have had an egg fertilised... but for what ever reason they never decided to stick about. There is such an element of luck involved which makes me quite and .

Regarding testing. I have only 1 test left (a first response)and i will not use it until at least my period is due! Perhaps if i had some cheapies lying about, i might give them a go, but i have used all mine up... with shitty BFNs last month.
I am quite happy temping away and waiting for a temp drop... or not.

seaside72 · 13/02/2007 18:58

Thanks honeyapple - everyone is so great here at making you feel better

Well done on the test resistence - is your temp drop quite regular every month - if so on what DPO does it usually occur - I think if it were me and I passed that date I would test!!

Mind you - that comes from the person who has a sad old dusty first response test sitting in the drawer from last april!!!

Fingerscrossed big time

rahrah1 · 13/02/2007 19:13

went for a blood test today to test my ovulation. It took nearly 1.5hrs... There was well over 100 people there. Mostly the elderly or pregnant people.. It was awful! I hate waiting...but waiting to get a needle stuck in you just stinks!

Ready which OPK sticks did you get. I got mine off ebay. Last month I got them from Boots but they were £20 for 5. Mine were 50 for £11 of ebay. Do you think thats why they have not shown a positive yet? Because they are the cheap ones. I got a few faint lines for a couple of days..but thats it! I also got a couple of faint lines with the expensive ones but gave up... Than it turned out I did not ovulate until CD20, and I started them on CD12, so gave up after I ran out.

honeyapple · 13/02/2007 19:24

Seaside- this is first month of temping, so i've no idea what to expect! I think most people tend to have a temp dip on day before or day of AF. (i think??)

Rahrah- i had cheapie opks from ebay. I did get a faint positve with them this month- 2 lines, although test line was darker than the other one. It was on a friday, and i am pretty sure i oved on sat or sun.
I dont think the cost of them should make any difference, basically the same chemical (or whatever) used to detect the LH.

Mum03- have you caved in to the pressure? Lottie and Greedy you are BAD girls!

They are blooming expensive though. It makes me quite the way these companies exploit us! They could easily sell them at half that price surely.

Ready · 13/02/2007 19:34

I got my OPKs from Boots, they were on a special offer. It's only CD11 for me, so I didn't expect to see a +ve result.

Sorry, I realise that my sharing the unnecesarry information is confusing. Oops.

My understanding is that I should see a +ve result a day or 2 before I should ovulate? Is that right?? So I anticipate a +ve or at least a visible line on CD13?? Have I got it all wrong?

I peed into a pot and dipped, would that matter?

Ready · 13/02/2007 19:34

Rah, when do you get your blood results back??

Re OPK's - I am trying to conduct my own personal experiment this month by doing both CB fertility monitor and some of the cheap ones from ebay.

After reading the peeonastick website I started using the ebay ones on day 9 - one a day in the afternoon/ evening. All negative. Then when I got my first peak day (CD12) with CB I did three ebay tests that day and it was v interesting - CB gave me a peak in the am - ebay slight second line but still neg at noon - then around 4pm did another ebay one - much stronger - almost pos but still not totally as dark as control line. Then by bedtime around midnight I did another one and it was quite a bit fainter than the 4pm one.

Then CB gave me peak the next morning, did an ebay test in the afternoon and it was back to being much fainter second line - then by the evening before bed it was really faint again.

I think it says on the website that the LH surge can only last 12 hours or even less some months?

Not sure if I am anymore enlightened about the whole thing but at least it is interesting!!

honeyapple · 13/02/2007 19:42

A positive opk should be followed by ov within 48 hrs i believe...

Lottie- it's like anything to do with making and having babies... always someone trying to exploit mums and dads who are desperate to either get PG- or to have the best pregnancy or the best birth... it is SUCH an emotive issue... like, how MUCH do you want a baby, WHAT are YOU prepared to do about it... grrrrr

(expensive pushchairs are also on my hate list for this kind of thing- so be careful about eyeing up those blooming bugabloodyboos girls... i know you have been!)

Hello!!

temp drops tend to happen on day of red bleeding for me, so I have a couple of days spotting with high temps, then a drop on what I count as CD1.

If you can last to 18DPO with 18 high temps, you won't need to test, as you are officically pg according to TCOYF!!! Therefore, I would test a few days earlier myself - sorry Ready!! but having said that, in a way it is better to find out later on in pg, as if you find out before you are even 4 weeks, the first 12 weeks lasts forever!!! With DD, I didn't test until 21DPO (don't ask me why I didn't notice that I'd had high temps for that long, but I'd had spotting for 2 weeks, so just thought I was having a weird period!)

Anyway, fingers still crossed Mum and Honey - no temp buddies thread over there, but is a TTC graduates thread that we are all on - we'll save some space for you all!!! Won't be long til you are all with us.

Lottie, sorry to hear you are not doing well - DP/DH's don't half choose their moments do they? I hope you are having a better evening?

Take care all - got to check on supper.
x

rahrah1 · 13/02/2007 19:59

OK... I think maybe I ovulated quite a few days ago then. I got faint lines..... I am really pee'd off as been weeing on those sticks every five minutes and every time they were negative I got upset! Any positive test will do me at the moment!!! It would make sense more than ovulating even later this month and I got a higher temps form about 5 days ago... but not dramatically. I also did not get any ovulation pain this month... but it could of come down a different tube??? I also did not get any eggie CM..maybe I just wasn't overly fertile this month. But fortuantly all my hormones were tested this month, so if there is anything wrong they should be able to tell.

I telephoned the clinic yesterday, as the tests I had today were only part of many he did (I think he did them to shut me up!) They said that they will only contact me if there is something wrong. But I think I will get my bereavement midwife to check for me..as it will wind me up not getting definite confirmation... IYKWIM...

rahrah1 · 13/02/2007 20:01

Also I think it was around the time we were about to go to Wales and DH was 2 tired the night before and the night after... That was 2 days of not doing it around ovulation... Damn the husband!

honeyapple · 13/02/2007 20:08

I didnt get much action this month either Rahrah- only a couple of hits during "fertile period"... DP was too bloody drunk at perfect moment.... however, i know from experience that frequency dont always mean a BFP/ and vice versa...
so how many days post OV do you reckon you are?

honeyapple · 13/02/2007 20:09

36.7 seems a pretty good high temp to me rahrah... especially seeing how COLD you've been.

Ready · 13/02/2007 20:47

I agree with Honeyapple , 36.7 is a good-looking temp considering your lower temps RahRah. A good sign hopefully

rahrah1 · 13/02/2007 21:01

I will work it out and get back to you.

rahrah1 · 13/02/2007 21:14

We had sex on CD15, and that is when I saw faint lines on OPK. and had sex on CD18

Ready · 13/02/2007 21:21
