Fred rules (copied and adapted from previous Fred)

  1. Thou shalt shag as much as humanly possible in order to get upduffed.
  2. Thou shalt not partake of OPKs, temping, or charting.
  3. Thou shalt keep symptom spotting to a minimum.
  4. Thou shalt share with your fredmates where needed.
  5. Thou shalt not be offended by the word vagina.

JSing lingo

ERTD = Evil Red Tide of Dooooooommmmmmm. Or AF to most others. Also known as 'the witch', 'bitch witch' and 'that one with the red shiny convertible'

Viroid = This is you, dear poster. This is from the first JS thread when someone tried to type 'ladies' and it autocorrected to 'Viroids' - so there you go!

Pant snot = Egg white cervical mucus.

Doing a Kitten = Getting upduffed soon after joining (warning: may induce envy in other posters).

POAS = Pee On A Stick (of the pregnancy detecting kind, not from a tree). Also known as PIAR (Pee In A Ramekin - cos we're posh birds innit), or PIATLH (Tea light holder), PIAWG (Wine glass) or anything else you care to pee in! PONF = Pee on Nigel Farage (Self explanatory)

ROC = Receptacle of Choice - what one chooses to use for the task of POAS. Optional decorations include photographs of controversial political leaders.

JIAC = Jizz in a Cup. Preferable to jizz on the carpet or jizz in the eye. This one's for the lucky men in our lives.

Jizz in a bra = how we transport the jizz to the Sperm Queen

Shagging like 'something' = JSing like a teenage nymphomaniac.

Giving a hooya = Giving a much needed slap to a fellow poster in danger of slipping into TTC obsession. Warning - this may happen to you if you start trying to POAS at 5dpo. PUT. THE. PISSY. STICK. DOWN. IT'S TOO EARLY!

Contraband (or Cuntraband) = Of COURSE none of us EVER partake of any silly OPKs or temp charting. They are Contraband.

Icing = ovulating. Another autocorrect development!

Getting your Cape on = planning some serious pouncing on DH/DP

SOTM = Shagger of the Month. Awarded with varying regularity to those viroids who go above and beyond EOD shagging in pursuit of that BFP

TWOT - Two Weeks of Torture. AKA Schroedingering!
TWPU - Two Week Piss Up!

Keeping your gingers = fingers crossed, yet another autocorrect development! Shortened to 'gx'

Doing a Lemon = Testing WAAAAAAAY to early!

Miroid - The male compadre of a viroid

Cat - Compulsory

Skittletits - Killer molten painful tits and nipples

Ghost jizz/goat jazz - When the amazing foof sucks up all the jizz - achieved when coming at the same time/nearly the same time.

Gx kwick pma all the way!!!

blackcherries · 15/11/2016 22:36

Congratulations canters!

Can I have a sanity check please? I've been ttc number2 for a while (this is 9th cycle). I'm 35. Had DS1 when I was 33, conceived first cycle.
I've been getting really anxious as to why it's not happening - we're doing everything "right", OPKs (sorry), following sperm meets egg plan.

Anyway, I know it's basically a numbers game, but I'm already past the age gap I wanted and we want to rule out any obvious issues, so going to a private clinic for an initial consultation and up-the-vag scan. I pretty much know nothing about all this stuff, am I going over the top or being sensible? It's also going to be useful to get the sperms looked at. Thing is as soon as I start reading stuff on the clinic's website, it's all about IVF etc which feels a bit like a slippery slope to madness.
Anyone done similar? kwick it sounds like you are having some kind of tests? (As I said, I'm clueless - sorry - info appreciated!!)

Also - presumably the scan doesn't harm any chances of conceiving?!

blackcherries · 15/11/2016 22:37

Sorry kwick didn't see your post about IUI so I guess that makes things clearer. Best of luck. /newbie

Ditsy79 · 16/11/2016 06:19

cherries I am now 37 and been ttc #2 for the past 18 months (lost track of cycle number!). I went to my GP after about 9 months, who was pretty vague, but sent me for blood tests to measure progesterone at various points in my cycle. They came back low, so I had to repeat them (and my dh had to also have a sample analysed). After that blood test also showed low pg, I was referred to FC. They basically gave me more blood forms, referred me for a hycosy scan, and told me to get my BMI lower. I went to see them again last week, scan showed 1 blocked tube and bloods show I am not ovulating. They said they will fund 6 months of clomid, but would not fund IVF as we already have 1 dc.
For the hycosy scan, you have to be certain you're not pregnant, as they put dye up there, so I got mine done straight after AF. Not very pleasant, but it shows up if either of the tubes are blocked.
When is your appointment? Good luck!
GX for your iui kwick - keep up the pma.
canters Huge congratulations! Enjoy your little one.
Sorry tink - gx for the next cycle

ZylaB · 16/11/2016 08:07

Congrats canters

Fx kwick this is the lucky one for you!

No idea what's happening with me, cd 37 now and no AF and bfp, I know I'm not pregnant this cycle but I need AF now as going for day 1-5 bloods on Friday!

kwick · 16/11/2016 08:58

cherries up the fanjo scans so not harm your chances. I think it is good you have some tests although most likely you are just about to get your BFP Grin
There are blood tests that can be done plus scans to see your Ovarian Reserve (ie if you still have follicles in the making). I think checking the magic potion out is also a very good idea.

kwick · 16/11/2016 09:00

Hycosy is fricking awful but it is important to know if there are any issues - it is also said to give increased chances for a couple of months after. I wish I had done mine last year before I started TTC.

kwick · 16/11/2016 09:38

So I have had my scan. Follicle 15mm but IUI going ahead as I am cd20 so the egg inside there is likely to be mature. I have not yet ovulated - so magic potion will have opportunity to meet egg as it comes down tube.
IUI set for 2 hours from now. Not sure what I will do with myself for next 2 hours... but not enough time to go back to office... suppose I could hop on bus to Oxford street... but it might be quite nice to have some quiet time (so the Pret where I am now is not going to work - so noisy!!!).

ScottishLady7 · 16/11/2016 09:52

Ooh Gx kwick here's hoping your follie behaves itself and releases a lovely juicy egg in a few hours time!

Congrats to canters and black on doing babies! I'm not on the grads FB group so if you wanted to share some pics on the undergrads FB group, I would be delighted Grin

I'm currently CD4. AF appeared 11 days late in the end which I wasn't overly surprised about, after all the BFNs. I managed to get a cancellation with my FC yesterday to talk things over (on the suggestion of the lovely nurses there so I didn't feel like I was taking the piss) and the dr was really nice.

She says the HSG wouldn't prolong my cycle and that I most likely had an anovulatory cycle (sorer boobs and shorter duration of period being indicators apparently). I wondered whether it might be PCOS (ovaries were both polycystic on scan last time) but dr thinks you can't call it that after just one abnormal cycle which I would tell patients myself but which I seem incapable of recognising when it comes to me and my ovaries!

She has given me 12 weeks of pots, wants me to pee in a pot on the same day each week and pop it in the freezer with the date on. They'll then look at the hormone levels to see if I'm ovulating. Has anyone else done this?

Think I might need to invest in a dedicated pee freezer

kwick · 16/11/2016 12:21

scottish sorry about AF Flowers
Your wee-wee collecting sounds very interesting and I am VERY pleased Dr is looking into your cycle.

So IUI is complete - Dr was very happy with magic potion quality Nd where she was able to place in my womble.
Apparently recent studies have shown that magic potion can last up to 7 days in the womble!!!

Right back to work - another afternoon of interviews - makes a changes for looking into matters which require disciplinary attention!

justtheonethen · 16/11/2016 12:43

hurrah kwick!

scottish interesting stuff, the wee collection appeals to my geeky side, I'm a bit jealous!

Whoever was asking about tests etc, I've had most of them so any questions ask away.

blackcherries · 16/11/2016 13:34

ditsy79 thanks so much, that's so useful! Sorry to hear you have a blocked tube, but also interesting because my GP seemed to think because I'd had one dc that meant I hadn't got any blockages or anything.
(NHS GPs have not been too helpful or supportive tbh, refusing blood tests hence me going for private consultation). Hopefully can discuss any further options then (on Saturday) but don't want it to become unaffordable...

corgi88 · 16/11/2016 15:38

Howdy viroids!
Canters& black congratulations on your lovely little bundles!!!!!
Scottish this pee analysis sounds very interesting and nerdy! Yes you may well need a special pee freezer - imagine the embarrassment at having to explain the frozen pee to any freezer-pokers?!
Kwick good luck!! Gx gx gx.
Had my scan today - 7 and a half week bean with a fast little heartbeat. Obviously I burst into tears straight away.... as we've never seen a heartbeat on a scan before and it was such a relief. Feeling a bit better about it but still on tenterhooks! Going back at 9 weeks for a repeat...

Hope everyone else is doing OK and staying sane FlowersCakeBrew

blackcherries · 16/11/2016 15:44

If people mean me then no baby here! I have a lovely almost-2-year-old but ttc second time around with no joy!

corgi lovely to hear! I remember first time round I cried loads when I had my first scan.

ScottishLady7 · 16/11/2016 15:46

Waaaah corgi I am delighted for you and your DH. What a clever bean and fantastic you only have a couple of weeks til you see it again!

I will think up a strategy to deter the freezer-pokers mil I'm looking at you

corgi88 · 16/11/2016 16:09

Thanks for the love viroids Smile
Cherries sorry for confusion, black is myblackcat - an erstwhile js'er!
