Hi all,

Just wanted to start a thread for all of us over 35 just starting out.

I am: 36 (37 in Nov)
Cycle #1 CD 22

I've been 'prepping' my body for this for a year, lost weight, increased my fitness levels and been taking vitamins etc so I feel like I've been mentally preparing for this for AGES, as a result I'm finding the waiting game torturous! I've been tracking my cycles, 27 days average, and using OPK's - just started that this month. We dtd the day before getting a smiley face and then twice on the day we got one.

Are there others who feel impatient/worried like me because you feel time is not on our sides? So bloody stressful!

Hi everyone, bit of an update from me. On Monday, I got a BFP. Am still in complete shock. I did the sums, and as my cycles are short (25 days) this was actually our 17th cycle trying without even a sniff of a positive test. I haven't cancelled the appointment we have at the fertility clinic next week as it seems too early. But yeah, shocked is an understatement.

JeNeBaguetteRien · 14/12/2016 08:22

Go Spacecats, congratulations! Wonderful news!

Russkispy · 14/12/2016 10:00

Hello ladies, still following the thread and thinking of you all! Hope you all get you BFP soon. I know it will happen as you're all so determined!
Had my 12 week scan yesterday (NHS dating scan). Babi was well behaved, did her measurements and as a result it put me at 13+4 and not 13+1. So new due date is 16/06/17. Babi was hiccuping a bit which was ironic since I'm not a drinker haha but otherwise she looked adorable! Off to keep knitting blankets and other little bits.
Spacecats, congratulations!!
Good luck to all!!! 🤗🤗🤗

SoozC · 14/12/2016 11:08

Wow, spacecats, big congratulations!

SoozC · 14/12/2016 11:08

citybumpkin · 14/12/2016 13:56

Glad all is going well russkispy. Awww re the hiccuping Smile

Big (bump) congratulations spacecats. I bet you are over the moon (pun intended).

Blueberry1 · 15/12/2016 00:59

@mira sorry no special Christmas gift Sad

@Sooz fingers crossed you'll need a slightly bigger wedding dress Grin.

As for me, well at least this month we've managed one bang on target TTC (tonight). Well I say on target but as last month I appear to be ovulating earlier (CD14 which is today if Clearblue gizmo & EWCM is anything to go by) so FF is having another strop and saying it can't accurately predict my ovulation. Anyway it's unlikely to come to anything..

Blueberry1 · 15/12/2016 01:01

@Russkispy - glad it's all going well.

@Spacecats FAB NEWS! You give the rest of us some hope Smile.

SoozC · 15/12/2016 08:03

Weirded out here. Had bloods last week so know when I ov'd. Went out for drinks for DP's birthday last night and when we got home I had (tmi alert) bright red blood in the toilet and when I wiped. I'm only 10dpo. No normal af cramping and bfn yesterday (I tested because it was his birthday just in case!). Too much for IB so just wondering what the heck my body is doing?!

Blueberry1 · 15/12/2016 08:22

@Sooz - that is the time implantation bleeding might occur isn't it? When does AF come normally ie would it be very early? Other than that I can't shed much light only sympathise as after having a reliable 29 day cycle with ovulation around CD16-17 with 11-12 day luteal phase, it's gone a bit haywire Confused

citybumpkin · 15/12/2016 09:18

I'm thinking implantation too sooz. I too was freaked out earlier this year when I had spotting and it turned out to be implantation. Fingers crossed for you!

Blueberry1 · 15/12/2016 10:23

@Sooz; am sure you read a gazillion articles already, but this one seems pretty good: www.whattoexpect.com/preconception/implantation-bleeding/

SoozC · 15/12/2016 12:26

Thanks guys, it just seemed too red and too much for IB. My average LP is 14 days with the shortest 12 days. My temp dipped on 7dpo and again 10dpo but back up today (11dpo). It's just weird. I don't spot usually and I get bad cramps the night before so I know af is on the way. This was just out of the blue. I'm sure I'm not preggers as it was a whiter than white bfn yesterday. Just waiting for af, I suppose.

miraflores81 · 16/12/2016 10:41

sooz If it was implantation bleeding you still possibly wouldn't get a bfp til af was due anyway, so still probably too early to tell. Fingers crossed for you as don't want you to have to wait 5 months to ttc again!
Good luck!

Blueberry1 · 16/12/2016 13:52

@Sooz a pharmacist advised me not to test before 14 DPO as prior to that hormone levels often too low to detect BFP.

SoozC · 17/12/2016 08:25

Yeah, I only tested because it was DP's birthday!

Had a bit more spotting yesterday and af cramps all yesterday afternoon so assume af is on its way. Which is part a relief and part really sad. But I will try and concentrate on the wedding and the five months should fly by. Just as long as I don't get pregnant accidentally in the meantime (yeah right)!

SoozC · 17/12/2016 08:26

Who's next to test? Someone has to get an Xmas bfp! Xmas Smile

Blueberry1 · 17/12/2016 10:11

@Sooz sorry to hear no BFP this month. Although it's not over til it's over crosses fingers

After 3 days of elevated BBT, FF rejigged & says I ovulated on CD13 (DTD that day too!), which I already knew anyway due to ClearBlue gizmo & EWCM... As my luteal phase is 11-12 days, I should test on Boxing Day if no AF. What this probably means is that I'll get AF on Christmas Day boo Sad !

citybumpkin · 17/12/2016 10:31

I'm due to test (properly) on 20 Dec. I was to tempted and tested early with a BFN. Think I'm too stressed for a BFP this month. Oh well...

SoozC · 17/12/2016 19:54

Af got me properly. Honestly, since I turned 35 I've had worse cramps than ever before, lasted all day today which is most unlike me. Or used to be unlike me. Anyway, got presents posted and Christmas cards written today - not posting them yet because I'm going to put save the dates inside too which I'm making on Monday!

Fingers crossed for you, blueberry and city. And if af shows there's always a nice glass of Christmas booze to help you through, although with any luck you'll be abstaining for a good reason! Keep us updated!

citybumpkin · 17/12/2016 20:26

Unfortunately life has turned a bit shitty here so resorted to wine. Arse.

citybumpkin · 17/12/2016 20:27

Sorry, bit of a misery here. Hope everything is well with all Flowers

Blueberry1 · 18/12/2016 09:40

@sooz shame AF got you. Try a hot water bottle for the cramps. Impressed by how well organised you are re Christmas; I took half a day off work on Friday to START my Christmas shopping....

@city sorry to hear you're having a rubbish time. Hope the wine cheered you up a bit. I find exercise can help when feeling down.

I am not abstaining from alcohol (had 2 small glasses of wine at party last night) as chances I get BFP given DP's SA results and fact that on target activities took place just once (albeit on day of ovulation), must be close to zero. I will keep my drinking very minimal, but if I drink nothing DP's family (who don't know we're TTC) might notice. Luckily, am known as a light drinker anyway.

JeNeBaguetteRien · 18/12/2016 09:49

Sorry Sooz

Like you city I've tested a bit early today with FRER and got a BFN.
I'd had some spotting on Friday and none since; I'm on CD28 of 31. Will now wait til Wednesday if AF doesn't arrive sooner. Going to go shopping today. Bought baby gifts for 3 friends. 3 pregnant colleagues and one who is trying who drinks like a fish and smokes a lot and will probably announce a BFP soon.
