Hugh enjoys ISW and his love affair with Doreen. He watches out for skittle tits and weepyitis. Mrs Arseholey Fucknut (Af) shows up when you least want her but brings wine and soft cheese as a consolation prize.

We don't have rules as such but expect to be talked down from the ledge with kind and well meaning but firm words if you get too hysterical. But most importantly don't convince yourself you're pregnant in the tww That is paramount! It messes with your head and makes you crazy crazier

We don't get a lot of baby dust in these here parts. We want a fanny full of determined Doreen, not unicorn farts and gnome tears with extra sparkle. We've been going a while now so the novelty has somewhat worn off and we're slightly battle scarred and bruised in the cervix area.

Post your stats and add your dates. A more lovely, supportive group of ladies you couldn't wish to meet. We've got a few grads sticking around I won't leave and no question is too daft. We have opk experts, cervical mucus management teams and symptom spotters extraudinaire!

Morning girls. Got a bfn on an ic this morning - at 11 DPO so am guessing I'm out and waiting for AF.

Really didn't think I'd be going into cycle 8 still clutching my opks and epo SadSadSad

HepKestrel · 12/07/2016 08:52

marmite i've never seen that instruction??

so cd55, bfn. nothing else to report.

WingingIt83 · 12/07/2016 09:15

marmite I used one step but dipped straight away and it worked fine.

This is what I did this cycle when testing at work: buy some plastic shot glasses and zip lock freezer bags from the poundshop. I then make myself 'packs' with a cup and opk in and put about 3 at a time in a discreet sponge bag that fitted in my handbag.
Then everyday on way back from lunch (ie when carrying handbag) I'd stop off at loos and test. The used shot glass went in sanitary bin and the opk went back in the packet sealed in freezer bag to be discreetly checked 5 min later. I also had a small pencil in bag so I could label the freezer bag with the date.

I also carried some handwipes in case of spillage!

marmitetoast1 · 12/07/2016 09:58

Haha that sounds v organised wingingit! I had the freezer bag idea and was planning on weeing into the actual packet the test came in (had to do this with ic preggo tests on holiday as couldn't find anything else to pee into!!!) but a shot glass would probably be better!

hep The instruction about letting it come to room temp was on the more detailed instructions online that the leaflet referred to - www.homehealth-uk.com/PDF%20Test%20Instructions/IND%20One%20Step%20LH%20Strip%20revised%2021_1_10.pdf

Sorry you are still so in limbo. Is gp appt on Thursday?

WingingIt83 · 12/07/2016 10:46

I don't think my aim would be good enough to get in the packet! !

AlexiaB · 12/07/2016 11:02

CD45, no AF and First Response BFN. Obviously not pregnant and it's an all an evil game. Thinking of buying the clearblue fertility monitor for next cycle because I can't face temping again and the cheapie OPKs never work for me. I'm feeling so upsetSad I never thought 17 months later we'd still be TTC! I thought it would be easy since my mum had 3 children in 4 years.

marmitetoast1 · 12/07/2016 11:27

Ha, the packets are actually wider than you think wingingit! I'll have to change my work lunchtime routine as I always just eat at my desk (no where else for us to go Sad) so never have my bag with me when going to the loo Hmm

Alexia Flowers I think the fertility monitors sound pretty great from what I've heard about them.

SnarkyGorgon · 12/07/2016 11:30

Sorry Alexia and Sucha Sad CakeWineChocolate

HepKestrel · 12/07/2016 11:43

Hi marmite yes its thursday. I still feel a bit of a fraud about wasting gp time, but I will go.

I remember my old gp as a kid who terrified everyone so much that you should only go to gp if you are dying !! He was a good very good gp, but no time for time wasters !! Think he would also smoke during the appointments .... it was the eighties!

sorry Alexia

purpleladybird · 12/07/2016 11:58

Sorry AlexiaB, I've been following your roller coaster for the past week and can see how painful it must be.

I've had a strange month with no real OPK high but various 'strong' if there is such a thing. So onwards to cycle 6 (I think) and definitely using the Clearblue Advanced Fertility Monitor. I've been using three sticks a day (Clear Blue dual hormone in the morning and cheapies morning and night) and it's driving me crazy so need to go with just one. Any advice welcome. The instructions are so strict I am worried I will mess it up.

AlexiaB you have to set it up by CD4 so if you want to use it best buying on Amazon Prime as soon as AF appears or you'll need to wait another cycle.

Congrats to CarolAnn

InspectorPenguin · 12/07/2016 11:59

Hello all, I'm back from holiday and back into cycle 5 after AF arrived bang on cue on 2nd.

It's a bit disheartening after we seemed to do everything right with loads of DTD at the right time these last couple of months but I do know it's nothing in the grand scheme of things.

PLUS, I got to try out my menstrual cup for the first time (not a Mooncup, but almost identical) and it was amazing! Grin
I honestly never thought I could get excited about sanitary products but seriously, it's a million times better than tampons. I had dismissed them without thought before but if anyone is thinking about trying them I would strongly recommend. Obviously none of us wants to think there'll be any more periods for a while but if you splash out £15 on one of these it's probably a good way to encourage your BFP :)

So for cycle 5 I am giving up all OPKs and am just going to concentrate on plenty of sex all month. If nothing by September then it'll be GP time but I'm not going to get worked up in the meantime and just focus on fun summer stuff instead; Pimms, wine, prosecco and cider!

Jem I'm sorry to read about how ill you were. How are you now? Also, I don't want to encourage the crazies but getting a BFN on an IC at 11DPO doesn't really mean anything. Aren't they always some of the least sensitive? Go easy on yourself and join me in a 'fuck it' cycle with no OPKs next time round if you do start #8 :)

Hello to new people and congrats to latest BFPs - always nice to see! And Stark/Audrey what a beautiful scan picture! Really pleased to hear it's going well for you and you're not suffering with any awful symptoms. I hope it's going by a bit more quickly now and you're more relaxed and able to enjoy it.

Alexia and Hep, this sounds like a horrible limbo cycle for you both, I'm sorry Flowers. It's crap playing the waiting game so I just hope it's over quickly for you and you can move on with your next one ASAP. I hope the doctor can shed some light if you do pay a visit.

Bluebird new puppy sounds very exciting, I hope your DH reaction is unrelated and you can go ahead as planned, or he can dose up on antihistamine until he develops resistance.

Snow it's lovely to see you back again! I hope you're enjoying your new life out there. Sorry to hear IUI #1 didn't succeed but it sounds like your health insurance gives you some great options without too much waiting around, so at least you have the reassurance that you can upscale to IVF if needed. Fingers crossed it doesn't get to that though.

Right, I'd better get on with some work. Have a lovely day everyone!

purpleladybird · 12/07/2016 12:26

Do we still get a StarkyStar Star if we wait to test, or will it have a new name?

Goes to ponder prizes which go with Audrey...

AlexiaB · 12/07/2016 12:35

You ladies are all so sweet, thank you so muchFlowers

Purple I think you should go for it since it will hopefully give you peace of mind. I regret not buying it in May when AF arrived! I've been reading about it just now though and it says you have to have two 21-42 day cycles before using it. So I'm really unsure if I can even use it now after this messed up cycle I'm having? Confused

Hep you aren't a fraud or wasting time, you deserve to know what's going on. I've set a deadline of next week.

purpleladybird · 12/07/2016 15:02

AlexiaB if you can afford the outlay of the sticks then I would give it a go. I swear my cycles were more regular when I wasn't watching.

I am a grown woman and I've just had to give myself a good talking to and agree not to poke my boobs again until this evening. At the moment I don't know if they are aching with hormones or bruised from all my prodding.

HepKestrel · 12/07/2016 15:54

Thanks Alexia
I mainly want to know before I spend time with my family ..... and whether I can drink again !

purple Ha! yes the boob pookage! Remember our saying "Don't trust the boobs !!!"

Snowdog37 · 12/07/2016 16:27

I'm waiting for my beta results. I have been feeling quite sick and shaky all day. It must be nerves or something. (Diabetes from all the Nutella lol)

HepKestrel · 12/07/2016 16:48

Flowers snowdog

purpleladybird · 12/07/2016 17:03

You couldn't be more right about the boobs Hep - I do not trust my boobs, or my poking at all.

And yes, I caved and gave them a poke.

Jennyfer08 · 12/07/2016 17:09

purple I'm the same! Af due tomorrow though and pretty sure she's on her way. If she does arrive tomorrow though it means I'm back to 28 day cycles which is a good thing.
Spent some time with friend who was trying for 4 years, had a mc then an ectopic including tube removal and today I was with her 8 week old baby, she so deserves it and it give me some hope!
I've not done any real OPK tracking, I'm going by cervical mucus and just dtd every second day throughout the month but that's Obvs not working...

Snowdog37 · 12/07/2016 18:10

Negative again. I don't get it. Ugh. Oh well on to IUI cycle 3.

LovelyFishy · 12/07/2016 19:25

Jem hope AF stays away.

Wing you are the most super organised person ever with your bags and cups, love it!

Sorry about the bfn Alexia and Snow, our bodies can play such mean tricks on us.

Very inspirational story from your friend Jenny, it's given me a warm fuzzy feeling!

HepKestrel · 12/07/2016 19:43

Sorry snow Flowers

LovelyFishy · 12/07/2016 19:49

So I caved a tested, another bfn.

SuchaJem · 12/07/2016 19:54

Thanks inspector I do enjoy your updates Smile if AF comes I will indeed join you on a fuck it cycle Wine

Sorry to hear that snow Flowers better luck next cycle

Sorry about bfn lovely, hope AF stays away for us both xx

marmitetoast1 · 12/07/2016 22:51

Sorry snow Flowers
Ok wingingit I have ziplock freezer bags and OPKs in a little makeup bag ready to go in my work bag in the morning (still no shot glasses though Grin)
