TTC No. 3

hello! have been ttc no.3 since last april now. ds took about 3 or 4 cycles to concieve and dd 1 cycle, so i am finding this hard to get my head round!

the main reason for starting this thread, if anyone is interested, is that sometimes i feel really bad chatting on the other threads about age gap concerns, how i will cope with another one etc....when lots of other 'posters' are ttc no.1.

it makes me feel a bit guilty going on about no.3 when some other MNers have such tragic stories.

anyway, i know there are a few of you out there also ttc no.3. Do you all have big houses and cars?

hello goingfor3 and fruitful......who would have thought there were so many people ttc no.3........and everyone tells me i am mad! PAH! you lot must be too!
honeyapple - i think what you said about the 2 lots of identical twins is AMAZING! what are the odds on that? they must have been completely GOBSMACKED second time round when they were told they were having twins AGAIN and they were IDENTICAL again! WOW!

Hi greedy also trying for no3. Shock to my parents as they are the 2 children is enough attitude. I have a Piccasso which should fit 3 kids in the back and a three bed house. Hoping this next one is a girl who will have the small room whilst the boys are sharing the bigger room. We would like to move as one or both of the in-laws may have to move in with us soon due to illness so we will need more bedrooms then. It just depends on the finances as I had to stop work when mil became ill as she can't childmind for us now and child care would be too expensive.

Funny I conceived the boys exactly the same as you and this is the second month of trying for us, so not sure what will happen this time.

jersey · 19/01/2007 21:05

By the way I'm 35 I will be 36 in May, aware that the clock is ticking!

bonkerz · 19/01/2007 21:20

well as of last night (start of first period after coming off contraception jab 5 months ago) we are now trying for number 3!
have a 6 year old and a 1 year old. 3 bed house. Big people carrier but thats cos im a childminder.
Know what you mean about TTC threads cos 3 years ago i was on those threads and went on to lose 2 babies before successively having my DD. So anyway DH and I have decided to start TTC next week!
Any tips on how to get a boy?

greedyforbabies · 20/01/2007 09:22

LOTS of sex is supposed to give you a boy! Apparently why lots of honeymoon babies are boys! its all crap really though isn't it!?

OP posts:
fruitful · 20/01/2007 10:03

Boy sperm are supposed to swim faster and die quicker. Girl sperm are supposed to swim slower but last longer. For a girl, loads of sex until the day before you ovulate. So all the sperm are waiting for the egg to come out, and there are less boy ones. For a boy, sex on the day or day after ovulation. So egg is waiting and the fastest swimmers get to if first.

Thats the theory. If it worked, everyone would do it! Worth a try if you're very fertile and don't mind waiting a few months. Personally I'm going to go for the "lots of sex all the time and pray like crazy" method.

greedyforbabies · 20/01/2007 10:21

thats my method too fruitful! but hasn't worked yet! not sure if i would rather a boy or a girl this time! i keep trying to imagine how either would fit in to our life and i think it is always so hard to imagine what another child will be like isn't it!

ammylovesbabies · 21/01/2007 21:28

greedy- what cost you 30k to qualify???!!!

Are you an astronaut?

eidsvold · 21/01/2007 21:52

i am due to have no3 in Mar and we only have an average family size home - our 2 dds share and the babe will have their own room. Our car is a larger size family car but again- three car seats across the back seat. We may look at getting a 7 seater in time but the one we have is doing just fine.

greedy I conceived very quickly with no1 and no2. No3 took about 7 months. Our children work out to be exactly 2 yrs 4 month gap between dd1 and dd2 and the same again between dd2 and no3! No way we planned that just the way it happened.

33 is not too old - that is when I had my first dd, 2nd at around 35 and now no3 - I am 38!!

I didn't work the first year of dd1's life - she had to have major surgery etc. I then worked the year she was 1 until almost 2. We then emigrated to Australia and I have not worked in paid employment since then. I was 20 weeks pregnant with dd2 when we emigrated.

Dd1 had a number of hospital and regular therapy appts which take time and I think as a parent it is important to attend them with her. Makes it hard on employment. I am also lucky that dh is in a job where we are able to live well on one income.

Hope that helps.

greedyforbabies · 22/01/2007 11:43

thanks eidsvold! everyones 'it took us longer to concieve no.3' stories help!
ammy - i am a chiropractor. it was my second degree, so i had to fund it myself and it was £6k a year plus expenses!

mum03 · 22/01/2007 20:58

I too am ttc no 3. When I was younger I thought it would be nice to have 4! I wanted two sets of twins!!! But I did not get married until I was 33 and concieved ds after 4 months of ttc, when he was 7 months old I concieved dd, again after 4 months of ttc. I thought that was it, I am too old to be doing this again, I have the perfect "gentleman's" family. But here I am with my three year old son and two year old daughter now wanting another baby!

I am only on month 2 of ttc so far, so can't say if it is taking any longer this time. But as for my age I appear to be the granny of the group being 39 in two weeks time!

As for cars/houses - we have two cars as both dh and I work. I was working parttime until last year, then took 5 months of being a SAHM. Loved everyminute of being at home with my two beautiful children, but then got offered current 6 month contract. Would like to be pregnant before the contract ends and go back on maternity leave again!!!!

We are currently living in an old cottage with one bedroom, and a second bedroom for the children, that we have created, squeezed beside a small kitchen. But we are also currently building a big 5 bedroomed house, that my mother says, she predicts I will fill with children!!!!!

Lets hope that we all get no3 soon!

Goodasgold · 22/01/2007 21:26

Also ttc no3, but still bfing no2. Have been hoping ever since she was to born that I was pg and have done a silly amount of tests.
dd2 is now 10 months and very sweet.
I work 20 hours a week and would like to continue in my job. I don't get any help with childcare so dd2 goes to nursery. dd1 is at school. 2 dc at nursery would mean I would be working to break even or at a loss, but I think it would be worth it to keep my lovely job open for when they are all at school.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who does not have a big house/car.
Good luck to all, who's coming back for no4 (or no5?)

greedyforbabies · 23/01/2007 13:45

mum03 i have a 3 year old ds and a 2 year old dd! mine were july 03 and jan 05, how about you?
i will be coming back for no.4 goodasgold!....i think so anyway!....depends how long no.3 takes i guess!

OP posts:
mum03 · 23/01/2007 15:05

greedy that is scarey spooky, my ds was born july 03 too!!!! but my dd was born in november 04 (only 15 months between them!) We'll have to stick together and both get our 4!

greedyforbabies · 23/01/2007 17:09

ok then mum03 - lets do this TOGETHER!!!! i am planning on concieving in march! how about you? obviously i would love to concieve in feb, but my cycle is too long so it will have to be march! i wont hold it against you if you concieve in feb!

OP posts:
greedyforbabies · 23/01/2007 17:10

My DS was also born in July 03! DH is off to Afghanistan tomorrow for 9 weeks - when he gets back we are going to try for number 3. DD is 4 next month

McDreamy · 23/01/2007 17:12

I don't know how I did that but DS was July 05 (not 03) and DD was Feb 03! D'oh

Mog · 23/01/2007 17:16

Haven't read the whole thread but to encourage you 'older' mums, I had dd at 37, ds1 at 39 and ds2 at 41!

McDreamy · 23/01/2007 17:17

Did you find each pregnancy harder than the previous Mog? I will be 36 next month!

greedyforbabies · 23/01/2007 17:29

wow mog! thats great! i still have time for another 3!.....not sure i have the energy though!

OP posts:
Mog · 23/01/2007 17:32

I was quite fit and really enjoyed being pregnant. Even had a home birth with no.3. The hardest thing was having 3 of three and under - not so much tiredness as the stress of it. Never a minute to yourself. I suppose the third pregnancy was harder because there isn't the opportunity to rest.

goingfor3 · 23/01/2007 17:40

It's fuuny to see so many already planning number four. I don't think I will have four unless I have twins this time! DP is going to be away for a couple of days midweek next week which will be during ovualtion. It's quite annoying but I am thankful he still has a job after the redundancies that were made yesterday!

jersey · 23/01/2007 20:31

Hi, I thought my 2nd delivery would be easier as I had an induction early due to preclampsia on my first. It was until DS2 decide he wanted to look up instead of down and got stuck. Ended up in theatre with a spinal block while they tried to turn him with forceps. I am wondering if 3rd time (when I get that far!!) will be 3rd time unlucky as I have been about to have emergency c-sections twice now and I will probably have to have one this time!!

It was the tiredness afterwards which got to me as DS1 started on terrible 2's tantrums just before DS2's birth and added jealousy to it afterwards for the first couple of weeks.
