Thought I would create a fresh thread as the original had been going since Feb. This is for anyone TTC #1, a bit of moral support as we all attempt to embark on the scary journey that is parenthood! Join us if you are a mix of terrified and excited, don't really know what you're doing yet and hadn't heard of CM before you started reading Mumsnet!!

Hi,

New here and still working out what most of the abbreviations mean :) so forgive me.
Been off the pill for 6 months but hadn't been tracking cycles or dates etc. we have now decided to be more 'scientific' about it (his term not mine).

Getting excited but worried that nothing has happened in the last 6 months

Eva30 · 28/07/2016 05:46

welcome givingitsago It's probably nothing to worry about. I'm on cycle 4 of being very 'scientific' (charts, temps, opks etc) and nothing yet. It just takes a while. Even when you time everything perfectly there's still only a 25% of getting pg so try not to worry Smile
I'm not one for checking my cm though, that's a step too far for me. But I had so much EWCM yesterday it was hard not to notice it. Obvs glad though, on ff I'm in the middle of FW.
pyjamas I was on the pill for about 12 years so can't blame my body for taking a while to get used to life without it!Grin

givingitago85 · 28/07/2016 05:57

Thanks Eva, it's funny, until we decided to try 100% rather than 'just wait and see' I seem to have become a lot more anxious about it all....I'm sure this is a normal reaction...I hope Smile

Eva30 · 28/07/2016 06:26

I was the same. Stopped the pill and was casual about it all for about 2 days and then bought all the bits and bobs for properly TTC!
I'm on cd13, 4th day of flashing smiley

CinnamonTwist · 28/07/2016 07:24

It really does suck... Even more than I thought it would if it happened, and that was a lot, I didn't think I'd be so attached to it by 7.5 weeks. Hormones don't help either, making me all emotional. I think I'll be off MN for a while, we aren't going to try again for a bit. Good luck to everyone else trying, hope you all get ones that stick Flowers

Aw cinnamon you're in my thoughts. I wish you all the best and see you back on MN when you are up to it X

BusyNothings · 28/07/2016 15:10

Really sorry to hear that cinnamon sending thoughts your way Flowers

Feel a bit awful for following up for this but I'm going a bit loopy. Is this OPK line a low/minimum line still or is it a high? I think I'm going insane staring and pee sticks. If I know my cycle length next month I'm definitely getting a clear blue digital one!

Pyjamas81 · 28/07/2016 18:16

Ah busy - the POAS madness has well and truly gripped me as well! Great to see you've got more of a line Smile Progress is progress! As far as I know - the cheapies are either positive or negative so I tried and failed to not read too much into the lines unless they were definitely positive, esp since it was a clear negative one day then mega mega positive the next! I haven't got a scooby what my cycle length is, but still found the digi one really useful despite the 12 day flashing face! It was accurate in the end and it's either a yes or a no!

Am only 3dpo and already symptom spotting even though I know it's way too early ha ha

Eva30 · 28/07/2016 18:27

It's a close one busy but I'd say a negative as not as dark as control line. When I used opk's I found they got darker towards ov, even though still negative. Hopefully your positive is round the corner.
pyjamas haha that was me last month, I even did a test on 8dpo how mental is that!! Time seems to stop during tww!
I'm going to try to be chilled out this month...but I say that every month and it never happensGrin

Jjspoon · 28/07/2016 19:05

Cinnamon it is surprising how hard it hits you. I was suprised at how heatbroken my oh was too with it being so early on but it's all so exciting, especially with it being our first that were all trying for, and then it's gone again. But it will all be OK. Hope to see you around here again when you're ready xx

Who on here temps? I was wondering if anyone had a chart that looks anything like the sample ones? What are your average temps looking like?

Busy I haven't done ov sticks but looks good to me, maybe you're close?

BusyNothings · 28/07/2016 19:19

Thanks guys. I've definitely got localised cramps on my right hand side. Feels like it's being squeezed so shall see. I'm pretty sure I can discount this month though.

I think even waiting to 8do when had a proper month you guys have wills of steel!

I temp jj and from what I can gather there is no average in truth. The more I google the more I get that it's not really scientific. I think it's one of those things that you have to follow your cycle for a couple of months and go off your own data. This has been mine for the last two weeks if that helps?

First time TTC - thread 2
Eva30 · 28/07/2016 19:56

I temp jj, here is my chart for this month. It's been a lot less erratic this month, think I might have settled down after coming off the pill, and I also started taking Pregnacare this month.

Eva30 · 28/07/2016 19:56

Here's last months, was all over the place

First time TTC - thread 2
Pyjamas81 · 28/07/2016 20:15

Hi jj - my chart is below, have no idea how to read it ha ha. My FW moved due to mental timing of ovulation which is why we only dtd on the last two days of it!

Interesting seeing everyone else's!

First time TTC - thread 2
Jjspoon · 28/07/2016 20:32

Thanks girls... Eva even last month though it was still clear that it was lower generally over the first half and then higher so that's good!

My question was that I've read the average before ovulation should be 97 - 97.7f / 36.1 - 36.5c and then between 97.7 - 99 / 36.5 - 37.2c after. I've only been doing it 5 days lol but mine has not gone under 36.5 yet. So I guess my options are either I still have hcg which is making it higher or I already ovulated straight after the mc and am now back in luteal phase already. I guess I won't know until I've done a few more weeks and get af again. Busy yours hasnt gone over 36.5 and Eva yours hasnt yet this month and I'm too blind to make out the numbers on last months lol. Maybe I'm just really hot :/

Jjspoon · 28/07/2016 20:34

Thanks pj! Yours hasnt gone over 36.5 either... so I'm either weird as hell or still "pregnant" :(! I'm trying to hold off testing again for another few days.

BusyNothings · 28/07/2016 20:37

Didn't know that jj I've gone through all my data and I've never been over 35.5! interesting!

It sucks waiting for AF jj but I'm sure she'll bring along shortly to brighten your day! Have you tried opks or waiting for next cycle?

BusyNothings · 28/07/2016 20:39

Also pj according to ovia I'm out of my fw and it's just given me the birthday of any potential mini-busy too... Scary

Jjspoon · 28/07/2016 20:41

In starting to think having all this information around us isn't all good. I'm driving myself crazy with all this research and info!

Pyjamas81 · 28/07/2016 20:44

The graph drives me a bit nuts jj - but I persevere as it's something to do!!

Ha ha busy - I had to hide that baby day info as it was freaking me out too much!

Jjspoon · 28/07/2016 20:46

Are you all temping orally or the other way lol?

Busy it sounds like it might be one of those things that is more personal to you rather than being a general temp for everyone but it is strange that mine are higher than you 3 so maybe it is the mc and there is something in it. Will be interesting to see how mine changes. I haven't done any opks yet and don't think there is much point until at least next cycle as hcg can effect them so might give false results.

Pyjamas81 · 28/07/2016 20:50

Definitely orally - I know the other way is more accurate, but I just can't bring myself to do it! And DH would kick me out of bed lol

However, fully accept that if nothing has happened in a few months, I'll probably change my tune!

BusyNothings · 28/07/2016 20:52

I'm orally. It freaks me out a bit otherwise lol. There is a lot to stress about and research if you let it. I think you need to find your rhythm. My mum is really worried that it's going to stress me out, but It actually helps calm me. Something to do and try and understand.

Good job on waiting for OPKs I had to stop myself before my first AF. It will turn up jj. Also I wonder if you're right that the temp is left over hcg. Nothing on googley?

Eva30 · 28/07/2016 21:02

100% orally - I couldn't do it the other way lol.
I do it in F but just looked and that would be 97.7 and mine went over that during luteal phase last month, there was a couple at 98. So at a complete guess maybe your in the last third of your cycle jj?

Eva30 · 28/07/2016 21:07

I think fertility friend shows the wider picture a lot better than Ovia. I used them both to begin with then found Ovia a bit too focused on the 'now' so doesn't help you look at patterns or compare to previous months (FF does). Give it a try, you get a free trial. I bought the vip app I am such a fan, and I've never bought an app in my life!! This is what TTC has done to me...
