Thought I would create a fresh thread as the original had been going since Feb. This is for anyone TTC #1, a bit of moral support as we all attempt to embark on the scary journey that is parenthood! Join us if you are a mix of terrified and excited, don't really know what you're doing yet and hadn't heard of CM before you started reading Mumsnet!!

Still a squinter today but at least it's still there!

Pyjamas81 · 21/07/2016 18:43

Hurrah busy - even if it's a squinter, it's nice to know that at least something is happening!

Day 9 of flashy smiley face for me - going to dropkick that damn f*%$#!g smiley face soon. Just did cheapie OPK - still a line (pic below), not positive but not a squinter either (which it is at other times of cycle). Oh well - am just carrying on and seeing what happens! Not ruling myself out for a BFP!

Lol bloody cocky smiley face teach him whose boss! Do you know when your test date should be roughly?

Pyjamas81 · 21/07/2016 19:01

Ovia telling me test day is in 10 days so 31st July, and AF allegedly due on 2nd Aug, but it was a week early last time so who the hell knows!

Flashing smiley actually looks like it's taunting me every morning - @sshole!

BusyNothings · 21/07/2016 19:13

Maybe draw little horns where the face is might make you smile when you have to deal with the little bastard

Pyjamas81 · 21/07/2016 19:21

Omg that is such a genius idea lol or something much ruder on the head bahahahaha

BusyNothings · 21/07/2016 19:33

Haha pj you are my kind of woman!

Pyjamas81 · 21/07/2016 19:58
Grin
Eva30 · 21/07/2016 20:47

haha!Grin at least we've still got a sense of humour over this TTC malarkey!! I'm on cd6 and bored of waiting for my FW

BusyNothings · 21/07/2016 21:01

Why wait eva Wink lol

I understand what you mean though. You got anything to distract yourself with?

Eva30 · 21/07/2016 21:23

Oh I haven't been waiting it that sense, got to keep all those swimmers activeWink
I'm still doing the reno on the house so plenty to keep me busy, new kitchen going in this weekend. Then off on hols the weekend after.
I asked this on the other TTC thread but got no answers, do you know if it's OK for men to take antihistamines when TTC?

BusyNothings · 21/07/2016 21:43

As far as I know but that's not far lol

Ooh what's the new kitchen like?

Eva30 · 21/07/2016 21:57

White gloss (practical for when hopefully dc1 arrives!), oak work tops, silver handles, built in fridge freezer induction hob etc. I'm so excited because we took the old grotty kitchen out last weekend and have been living off BBQ's and takeaways since, not good healthy eating for TTC!

user1469131534 · 21/07/2016 22:55

Hi all, very new here. TTC #1
I just read someone saying they had the flashing smiley face for 9days. I didn't even know that's possible, I've had it flashing at me for 3 days and I've no idea what to make of it Confused
I'm due on soon (I think, very irregular cycle) I've had a small bit of blood, but doesn't feel like my period. This stuff is soooo hard to figure out! Can you ovulate this close to your period?

Pyjamas81 · 21/07/2016 23:31

Hi user - welcome! Yep, that's me in day 9 of flashy face - no idea why! My cycles are just getting back into the swing of things after coming off birth control so maybe I'll ovulate later than planned, or not at all, who knows! You may be experiencing the same issue with irregular cycles, AF may be later this month! Hope you get that static soon Smile

Eva30 · 22/07/2016 05:37

Welcome user
I've got the CB ready to use but I thought you only start using it in the run up to when you think you'll ov? So my cycle is 30 days so I start POAS cd10? I guess it could get very expensive POAS every day with CB as they're not cheap!

user1469131534 · 22/07/2016 09:01

Hi Pyjamas, I've not been on birth control, so I really have no idea! 🤔
Eva30, I just started POAS as soon as I got them, because I have such irregular periods, it was after a period, I was getting the gooey stuff, so thought what the hell! I've read that positive ovulation resultscan mean you're already pregnant, but I think I'm just wishful thinking that this is what's happening to me!! I have to buy the CB kit, I couldn't stand wondering with the others, is there a line there or isn't there!! I'm driving myself crazy enough Grin

BusyNothings · 22/07/2016 13:37

Hi user! You sound a lot like me at the start of all this. I had no idea what was going on or how anything worked in my own body and it drove me insane. Two and a half months down the line I'm starting to understand a bit I think. Opks are good but temping is helping me with it too - have you looked at basal body temping? Or using an app to help you keep track? It was all gobbledegook at first but it's helping me control the nutty inside and try to understand it.

user1469131534 · 22/07/2016 14:25

Hi BusyNothings, I haven't been measuring my basal temp, I assumed opks would be better than tracking temperature, maybe I'll give that ago as well. All this makes me wonder how on earth women get pregnant full stop, it seems such a small window if opportunity and even then it's not guaranteed!! So frustrating, this place is amazing though, I've learnt so much just reading what others are experiencing. Thank you Smile

BusyNothings · 22/07/2016 14:36

It's not for everyone but it helped me combining it all. I'm naturally an over organised ocd control freak lol so tracking my temp and opks using apps like ovia helped me to make sense of it all. Even in the chaos. still frustrating but it made me feel better that there was something I could do.

I was on contraception for five years without a single period and before that they were insane and completely irregular so I feel your pain.

Lol and yes I know what you mean about how did anyone else do it?! You need to read the impatient woman's guide to getting pregnant. It's got tips and stuff for getting pregnant but most of the beginning is talking about why we are impatient today and how to help you cope with that and manage your own feelings. It really helped me =]

user1469131534 · 22/07/2016 18:01

I'll have a look for that book, I could use all the help I can get 😉
Thanks!

Pyjamas81 · 23/07/2016 00:29

I am so getting that book! After (now) 10 days of that b@st@rd flashing smiley face, I need to find some patience from somewhere!

BusyNothings · 23/07/2016 00:35

Oh no pj have you done a cheapy stick today to see what the non-clever fucker thinks?

Pyjamas81 · 23/07/2016 07:07

Day 11 of flashing smiley fuckface! Did a cheapie last night busy - faint line. Have only got 4 digi test sticks left - which will actually be a relief! Going to carry on with the cheapies for rest of month until AF arrives. What CD are you on?

BusyNothings · 23/07/2016 10:40

That's good at least the cheapie are showing something different! I'm on CD13 and according to ovia in my fw, the lines on the cheapies are still faint but definitely getting darker. But dh has been away all week and isn't back until late tomorrow. Week long stag so don't he's going to be any use then any ways lol
