Hi all

I thought I'd start the June bus as I'm getting impatient!

I'm 31 (for a bit longer anyway), TTC#1. DH and I agreed to start TTC in May, but won't be ovulating till about the 24th. ETD 8th June! Feeling terrified and excited at the same time.

Join me if you will! Smile

Whaat? How funny. I was literally just wondering the other day how long it takes sperm to swim up the tubes. Is that a programme?

Also made me wonder, if they swim, why does sperm not move when you, um, get it somewhere else? Which made me wonder if it does but just so slowly you don't notice. And of course they die when exposed to air so perhaps they die before they get far enough to see anything.

FriendlyGhost · 31/05/2016 17:57

I'm convinced I got pregnant with my dd after I ovulated so it is possible. I used to get mid month spotting which I assumed was ovulation. I had that on a Thursday and Friday and the only time we dtd was the Saturday evening. The first day without protection and I assumed it wasn't going to happen Grin. I didn't know about mucus or anything then so I just went by dates and the bleeding.

Writerwannabe83 · 31/05/2016 18:00

*if they swim why do sperm not move when you get it somewhere else?"

This is the funniest thing I have ever heard Grin Grin

That's cheered me right up!!!!

And thanks for the insight into your loose sperm sex life Grin

MrsGsnow18 · 31/05/2016 18:02

Wow! I had no idea it was such a long process! Makes me feel a bit silly, as I have to confess to yesterday lying on the bathroom floor with my legs up against the bath after dtd so they could be on their journey a bit easier! Blush

Mbire · 31/05/2016 18:03

Ladies, does anyone use the boots ovulation tests?
I'm very confused as to what's what! Have never had anything but a line that is fainter than the original line. Does this mean it is not detecting the LH surge? So confusing! Confused

MrsGsnow18 · 31/05/2016 18:26

Hi Mbire I use the boots ones too!
I also have never had anything but a line which is much, much paler than control line. I read that those faint lines are just a small amount of LH which aparently is always present throughout cycle, just some people have slightly more than others aparently and always get a faint line.
I've read on other threads/ sites that it doesn't mean ovulation is getting closer, you're aparently not supposed to get a line that gets gradually darker.
I'm pretty confused to be fair! But I've been reassured by others that when there is a LH surge, the line will be as dark as control line!!

BusyNothings · 31/05/2016 18:31

The stick is out! The stick is out people. And by stick I of course mean implant. Argh!

Laura05 · 31/05/2016 18:37

I think the witch may be on her way Sad I've had cramping and a dull backache all day. Also back to that 'wet' feeling. It's ridiculous how many times I've had to go check if she's here!

wispaxmas · 31/05/2016 18:52

Someone on the May bus suggested the programme, and it was honestly hilarious. The Great Sperm Race. Basically outlines the sperm journey by recreating it with humans dressed in white. 2.5billion start and less than 10 make it to the tubes. Eye opening to say the least!

Lucy1308 · 31/05/2016 19:12

I'm jumping on this bus having been on the May bus and still nothing has happened!!

TTC #1
Cycle 1
CD45 (long story...)

Coil came out 15/04, AF 17/04-22/04. +ve OPK on CD13/14, no AF afterwards and BFN. OPKed on CD35/36/37 due to dull right sided pain and turned +ve for CD36/37. Back to -ve now so I'm 8dpo. Currently sitting on my hands trying not to test early (haven't bought more tests deliberately!!)

So hi all!! My ETD is 11th June if AF doesn't show!! Trying to give myself a long time to be late to maximise chances of a positive!!

In case anyone is morbidly curious: http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x1cdwzvthe-great-sperm-racee_tv

Dropping back in after a few days away from the internet.

BusyNothings I'm in my first cycle since having my implant out at the end of April Smile fingers crossed for us! We didn't properly ttc in May but on it this month.

Using boots OPK everyday, got dark lines on friday and saturday, which have started to fade now but still fairly strong?

So on DPO 3/4 now I guess?
Really anxious to test! Grin Not had a period since implant has come out so have had to use OPK to see where I am in my cycle.

A little worried we've reduced our chances as we've dtd everyday for the last two weeks, so would sperm quality be severely affected?

BertieBotts · 31/05/2016 20:34

The sperm race programme sounds awesome. I suggested it to DH but he is not nearly as keen as I am. So I will watch it myself with some junk food for my dinner Grin

October don't worry, the every other day recommendation is for those with low sperm count, if your DH has normal sperm count it's okay to do it every day.

BertieBotts · 31/05/2016 20:35

Oo-er, I'm not keen on the suggested titles related to that on Dailymotion! Shock I think I will stick to youtube.

wispaxmas · 31/05/2016 20:47

I couldn't find it in YouTube when I looked!

BusyNothings · 31/05/2016 21:27

Laura that sucks lots of hugs, chocolate and hot water bottles come your way Cake

And I seriously need to watch the great sperm race. Sounds hilarious.

waves at October hi! I'm hoping to get going soon but the doc who took it out had the shakiest hands like scary shaky and he's had to cut more than expected so I think I'm going to be whimpering and feeling sorry for myself... I'll keep fingers crossed for my fellow sticky veteran =D

babydances · 31/05/2016 21:41

Sorry to hear this laura hopefully it isn't Flowers

BertieBotts · 31/05/2016 21:52

Well that was hilarious and informative Grin

I think I saw a cut version though. Lots of comments online about a pig Confused There was no pig in the one I saw. Lots of people in white running through fields with dramatic music though.

Writerwannabe83 · 31/05/2016 21:53

Oh no Laura Sad

I'm feeling periody-crampy too tonight Sad

Mbire · 31/05/2016 22:10

Thanks MrsGSnow glad to hear someone else is experiencing the same. Think I will go back to Clearblue next month as expensive as they are. Can't go wrong with a smiley face! Thinking possibly my cycle has changed a bit as last one was two days shorter so maybe I tested too late. I am about 2-4 days before AF is here. Definitely do not feel pregnant but then I've never been pregnant before so who knowsWink

ThePartyArtist · 31/05/2016 22:26

Sending good luck to everyone.

I tested today - couldn't resist - and got a negative. However still no period! Feel in limbo, getting anxious now.

Good luck with yours, everyone.

BertieBotts · 31/05/2016 22:49

Hope nobody minds a TMI but made me smile.

DH not feeling too well but put in the effort to DTD today because I thought I had a temp dip yesterday. We only had 20 minutes until DS was due home from school and neither of us felt particularly sexy so ended up having to do a lot of start-stop and tricks to get, er, the goods. Afterwards he said "What an unromantic way to make a baby" and I said it was really exciting and we could tick it off our experience list now Grin

I'm sure the novelty of TTC will wear off at some point but for now I'm laughing at myself.

MrsGsnow18 · 31/05/2016 22:57

Laughed so much about this 'great sperm race' really cheered me up!

Mbire I think I might splash out on some clear blue smiley ones next month too ( if I still need to) All this sticks for peeing on are costing me quite a bit of £! But I guess since I've given up caffeine and alcohol I'm saving on my weekly visit to Costa and the odd bottle of wine at the supermarket!

MrsGsnow18 · 31/05/2016 23:03

Now watching the full thing, it is actually so incredible to think about conception.
But so funny to see people being sperm and I love this quote
'Like most men, he knows nothing about the miracle of engineering tucked away in his pants!' Lol! Grin

Writerwannabe83 · 01/06/2016 07:25

10dpo, all symptoms have disappeared and another BFN.

I don't feel pregnant either.
I think I'm out of the race Sad
