Fred rules (copied and adapted from previous Fred)

  1. Thou shalt shag as much as humanly possible in order to get upduffed.
  2. Thou shalt not partake of OPKs, temping, or charting.
  3. Thou shalt keep symptom spotting to a minimum.
  4. Thou shalt share with your fredmates where needed.
  5. Thou shalt not be offended by the word vagina.

JSing lingo

ERTD = Evil Red Tide of Dooooooommmmmmm. Or AF to most others. Also known as 'the witch', 'bitch witch' and 'that one with the red shiny convertible'

Viroid = This is you, dear poster. This is from the first JS thread when someone tried to type 'ladies' and it autocorrected to 'Viroids' - so there you go!

Pant snot = Egg white cervical mucus.

Doing a Kitten = Getting upduffed soon after joining (warning: may induce envy in other posters).

POAS = Pee On A Stick (of the pregnancy detecting kind, not from a tree). Also known as PIAR (Pee In A Ramekin - cos we're posh birds innit), or PIATLH (Tea light holder), PIAWG (Wine glass) or anything else you care to pee in! PONF = Pee on Nigel Farage (Self explanatory)

ROC = Receptacle of Choice - what one chooses to use for the task of POAS. Optional decorations include photographs of controversial political leaders.

JIAC = Jizz in a Cup. Preferable to jizz on the carpet or jizz in the eye. This one's for the lucky men in our lives.

Jizz in a bra = how we transport the jizz to the Sperm Queen

Shagging like 'something' = JSing like a teenage nymphomaniac.

Giving a hooya = Giving a much needed slap to a fellow poster in danger of slipping into TTC obsession. Warning - this may happen to you if you start trying to POAS at 5dpo. PUT. THE. PISSY. STICK. DOWN. IT'S TOO EARLY!

Contraband (or Cuntraband) = Of COURSE none of us EVER partake of any silly OPKs or temp charting. They are Contraband.

Icing = ovulating. Another autocorrect development!

Getting your Cape on = planning some serious pouncing on DH/DP

SOTM = Shagger of the Month. Awarded with varying regularity to those viroids who go above and beyond EOD shagging in pursuit of that BFP

TWOT - Two Weeks of Torture. AKA Schroedingering!
TWPU - Two Week Piss Up!

Keeping your gingers = fingers crossed, yet another autocorrect development! Shortened to 'gx'

Doing a Lemon = Testing WAAAAAAAY to early!

Miroid - The male compadre of a viroid

Cat - Compulsory

Skittletits - Killer molten painful tits and nipples

Ghost jizz/goat jazz - When the amazing foof sucks up all the jizz - achieved when coming at the same time/nearly the same time.

Oh Scottish Flowers AF here? Don't get too disheartened lovely, it will happen.

angelazul · 13/03/2016 11:40

Sorry Scottish WineChocolate

5hell · 13/03/2016 11:59

Woop woop!...another bfp just in time to help refill grads Grin

Catscatsandmorecats · 13/03/2016 13:15

Canters that is an amazing line, congratulations! :) :). I'm on the vitamin c too, i hope that and the PMA brings an exciting pissy stick for me next weekend.

Scottish sorry AF has turned up Chocolate

Corgi on the other side of the coin I had LOADS of symptoms when I had my missed miscarriage that was found at 13 weeks. I really do think every pregnancy is different. If your EPU won't scan you, you will be able to get it done privately. Just google early pregnancy scan or dating scan. I agree with others, for peace of mind it is worth it. If we get upduffed with a sticky one, I am not hestitating to book one.

Kwick709 · 13/03/2016 13:49

Sorry scottish Flowers

Illiria · 13/03/2016 15:01

Scottish sorry you are out.

Canters I'm keeping taking it until after 12w, I stopped at 8w last time and mc at 9w so paranoid about stopping. For around the first 12w the corpus luteum is responsible for the progesterone levels and after its the placenta. I may just be paranoid but it's the only data point I have so holding onto it.

Ain626 · 13/03/2016 16:13

Congrats Chat and Canters ! Fab lines viroids! Flowers

NameChange30 · 13/03/2016 17:14

Sorry Scottish Flowers Wine Chocolate

stumblymonkey · 13/03/2016 19:29

Well I know I'm not technically out until AF arrives but since I think we only DTD after ovulation and I just POAS and got a BFN I think I'll be joining Scottish and declaring out soon.

AF is due Tuesday/Weds...

And then onto Cycle 4! Crazy how time flies!

Canters15 · 13/03/2016 19:38

Keeping everything crossed for you cats.

Stumbly, don't count yourself out yet...how many dpo are you?

Kwick709 · 13/03/2016 19:57

Hang in there stumbly you are not out until you are out!

ScottishLady7 · 13/03/2016 20:44

Thanks viroids, you are all a great comfort! Feel like a ridiculous person- accidental had a little cry to my aunty whose house I was in when I was caught unawares by AF- told her we were trying and how disappointed I was. She seemed a bit surprised by my tears... Need to get that under control!!

Gx for you stumbly!!!

Canters15 · 13/03/2016 20:45

Viroids, I have a situation this upcoming weekend. Myself and DH are going to stay with my uncle and aunt. My mum is also going. We are all fond of a drink family of boozehounds I will make up some antibiotic bull story, which will be fine for my uncle and aunt.

The problem is my mum is a) a nurse and b) wasn't born yesterday. I'm worried she'll know I'm lying and be upset. Im also worried about her reaction when she finds out I'm pregnant. If I tell her, she'll tell my dad, and we'll have to tell DH parents. I'm not sure I'm ready for this.

What do I do, wise people?

Canters15 · 13/03/2016 20:46

Oh Scottish Flowers are you doing something nice this evening?

FuzzyOwl · 13/03/2016 20:52

Canters do you have to stay overnight there or can you be the designated driver? Otherwise can you turn up and tell everyone that you feel terrible and just pretend to be really ill? The only problem is that it means you need to be really picky with food and everything else all evening as well. Or how about pretending you are training for some exercise thing (any half marathons coming up near you?) and so you have given up drinking until then?

Flowers Scottish

Gx stumbly

Kwick, when can you POAS?

ChatEnOeuf · 13/03/2016 21:07

Canters - It's still Lent? Any chance that one could work? I never believe antibiotic stories. If you can, employ your DH in switching your glasses for soft drinks, or taking a full one and swapping for empty. Otherwise, I might just 'fess up. I had to do the same as my MiL was coming down to help with house-hunting stuff and I was in hospital with a threatened miscarriage. Managed to keep it to just her and FiL for a few weeks, then the big wine-drinking birthday party meant a couple more family members found out. Told my side of the family at 12w and the rest of the world after. No-one told anyone else, which I appreciate is reasonably good.

lildottie · 13/03/2016 21:26

Congrats Canter's and chat omg! So happy for you!

kwick I rested daily from trigger after first ivf. I got bfp at 8dp2dt so equiv of 10dpo but it was ridiculously faint. This time I tested with an opk initially! at the equivalent of 13dpo and got a clearer line on hpt then. How many DPT are you now? And how many embies did you get?

NameChange30 · 13/03/2016 22:45

Canters
Some ideas:
-designated driver (if you're not staying over)
-teetotal for Lent (if they haven't seen you drink since Lent started)
-terrible hangover from night before?

If none of those will work, I suggest telling your mum on strict instructions to keep it secret. Then tell your aunt and uncle the antibiotic excuse or just be sneaky and swap glasses with DH. If you do tell your mum I don't think that means you have to tell PILs, obviously circumstances dictate the timing to some extent.

CountryGal4 · 14/03/2016 00:57

Got too battered the night before is a good one that I used.

Canters15 · 14/03/2016 06:24

Unfortunately I went up home last weekend and had a night out with friends then saw my parents the nexy day, so any given up alcohol excuses won't work....it is an overnight stay btw. The hangover excuse may work.....I will give that some thought!

I woke up early to pee and as DH is now on a plane I had to share- seeing the words is making me start to believe it!

SockQueen · 14/03/2016 07:08

Woo Canters! Congratulations! I'm very glad there will be a new bunch of viroids coming over to grads soon.

stumblymonkey · 14/03/2016 08:17

I definitely think the 'being too hungover' excuse is the best.

Then you can still eat ALL the food but just pretend not to be able to even look at the alcohol without feeling nauseous.

IF I ovulated and IF it was when I think it was then I'm about 15 dpo and we didn't DTD when ovulating so am expecting AF any day now....

5hell · 14/03/2016 08:18

canters i think the less of a deal you make of it the better - after a certain age announcing you're not drinking because of ab's is basically the same as announcing you're pregnant ;)

i'd go with not saying much, getting dh in on the act to provide you with 'drinks' / finish yours / swap full for empty etc, then if anyone does notice, just say you'r not feeling too hot or something similarly vague. You can have a few sips to keep up appearances and help the charade :)
good luck!

Kwick709 · 14/03/2016 08:46

lildottie I had one embryo transferred last monday - so I guess that makes me 7dpt. OTD next Tuesday. Will prob start testing at weekend... I am away from tomorrow until Friday & I will be strong and not put any POAS in my luggage!
I am pregnant with a lovely healthy baby :)

angelazul · 14/03/2016 09:07

eeekk how exciting does that sound Kwick gx for the bfp at the weekend.

Stumbly really hope the witch stays away.

Canters I'd go with the hangover excuse Wink

CD16 & I think I might be about to ice, have quite strong ice pains, tons ewcm & temp had dropped a bit this morning. Managed to get a sneaky shag in & got ghost jizz Grin Did opk before work, line was prob the darkest I've had this cycle or last, but still not positive. How long does lh surge normally last?
