Short Luteal Phase

mascaraisamust · 05/07/2015 22:57

So after 6 months of ttc I've worked out I've got a short luteal phase of 9 days, however it could be even less. I get a positive opk on day 19 and 9 days later AF appears. I'm fearing it could be less that 9 days if I ovulate 24-36 hours after a postive opk. No suprises that there hasn't been a bfp yet. I'm thinking this is my obstacle. Seems I've tried everything else. Do I go to my GP? Is there any point? On preconception vitamins with b6 in and have been in them for three months and no changes. Also AF is really painful every month, wondering if there is more to this. Any ideas? Or anyone experienced/ing similar?

Mascara, thinking of you today for your scan. xx

Flymo, that does sound a bit strange about your ovulation date changing, did you have any other signs of ovulation like pains or CM?

I've been reading up a bit more on reflexology to help fertility, apparently it is best to have it a couple of days before ovulation as it can help stimulate reproductive organs. I might give it a go after hol, if it doesn't help atleast it might relax me xx

mascaraisamust · 02/09/2015 11:14

Confirmed from the scan now. Everything has passed naturally. They said the lining has returned back to normal already x

Mascara glad to hear you are ok. Are you able to ttc straight away if you want to? Thinking of you xx

sunshine if you do try reflexology let me know if you think it works! I had it once years ago and it felt so good.

mascaraisamust · 02/09/2015 15:04

Supposed to wait for AF now to allow my body to get into a natural rhythm before TTC but I think its also for ease of dating the pregnancy. I will be TTC pretty much straight away I think once this cold shifts! Fingers crossed it doesn't take another 8 months to get my bfp again Confused

Mascara, glad to hear eveything went ok and you can start trying again soon.

Sunshine, I will let you know if I try it, I think relaxing needs to be my main focus for the moment. Last christmas I said to DH i'll be really worried if we haven't got our baby or aren't pregnant by next xmas, so I think that is constantly in the back of my mind xxx

SharyBobbins · 02/09/2015 18:58

Hope you're okay after your scan today Mascara xx

I was looking at the Vit B complex in H&B last week but decided not to try it until after my blood tests. I'd told the GP over the phone that Seven Seas was all I took so didn't want to chance anything else before the tests. It's scary to read that it might be interfering with cycles.

flymo79 · 02/09/2015 20:58

Yeah I'm megaHmm about it really, it's now predicted my af will be on cd 33 which is weird as I've been having 27 day cycles since I had dd... Sometimes as short as 26. Still, once af has been and gone at least I'll be ready for ov coming much later in the month and won't be trying to hop on the good foot every other day for the first two weeks! Don't think dh or I can cope with a fourth month at that pace!! Still frustrated I might have missed by a whole ruddy week! Rarrrr!

mascaraisamust · 02/09/2015 21:23

Flymo get some CB opks, expensive but much easier to read. I've ordered some cheapies for now but I'll definately go back to them once things settle.

Relaxing does play a key part I think. The month I got the BFP was the one I was told I hadn't ovulated so I totally chilled out and had a good time and there you have it. It's much easier said than done though!

Shary you're doing the right thing not taking anything for now. I'm just on Folic acid for now.

I was asked to take part in a trial today about thyroid but they had to do bloods to see if I was eligible. Have you all had your thyroid checked? Might be worth it to rule that out. Simple blood test which can be done the same time as day 21/LH tests x

SharyBobbins · 02/09/2015 21:31

Thyroid is on the GPs "blood list" tomorrow Mascara!

mascaraisamust · 02/09/2015 21:43

Ah good Shary! It was on my blood list that got lost Angry so I'll be interested to hear the result tomorrow as it runs in the family too.

Don't know if I should book an appintment with the gp to get the other bloods done before my fertility appointment. I think I was right about needing the progesterone when she said it wasn't an option this time. Feel like I should go and get it noted in some form... Don't know what it'll achieve though. Maybe I should wait it out?

I think you need to do whatever feels right for you Mascara. After what you've been through during the past few weeks you must be sick of tests/doctors etc. but if it's going to put your mind at rest you should go back. I guess the more information you're armed with the better xx

mascaraisamust · 02/09/2015 22:00

Thanks Shary, you're right. I think I'll shift this horrid cold as a priority and have my nails and hair done Grin

SharyBobbins · 02/09/2015 22:01

Sounds like a plan Mascara! xx

sunshinegirl12 · 02/09/2015 22:06

Shary, is your appt tomorow for blood tests? Goodluck with it all.

Mascara, sounds like a nice bit of well deserved pampering you have planned x

mascaraisamust · 03/09/2015 06:25

Good luck Shary. Fingers crossed the results are quick. The told me a week but I called and they had them 2 days later x

Thanks ladies xxx
Feel super emotional this morning. I get anxious just walking in to a pharmacy so I'm pretty nervous about having bloods done. More than that though, my temperature has been dropping so 99% sure this cycle I'm out. Again....

sunshinegirl12 · 03/09/2015 07:28

Ah Shary, I understand how you feel, I'm terrified of anything to do with the docs, probably why I haven't built up the courage to go yet, so I think you're really brave for getting this far. Fingers crossed for you xx

flymo79 · 03/09/2015 08:41

everything crossed for you shary, just try to remember you'll hopefully feel better about it when it's all done and you've got some answers... I have been increasingly nervous about docs, I think it's the stress of ttc adding to an already nervous disposition.
I'll look into the cb opk tests, I'm thinking of jacking in the b vits next cycle (whenever that might be), as I'm due af today but glow app reckons I'm only 4 dpo.. think I've prob got another week until she shows up (technically 2ww!). SO tempting to poas, but I know it's basically 100% certain I'm out as we didn't dtd within a week of ov, according to temps!

SharyBobbins · 03/09/2015 12:32

Hi ladies, thank you so much for your messages. The lady who took my bloods said she usually works at an early pregnancy unit so she understood my worries. She was lovely. She told me that my bloods could be available as quickly as this evening or tomorrow morning which surprised me. She said they usually process hormonal bloods quicker Hmm

sunshinegirl12 · 03/09/2015 13:03

Glad your appointment went ok Shary, thats good that you'll get the results quickly too x

mascaraisamust · 03/09/2015 17:03

Ah Shary that's good then. Don't stress dear, knowledge is power and all that Smile glad you had a friendly nurse!

Flymo, stranger things have happened! You're not out until AF is here.

My cold is still here with vengeance. Think im a bit run down. More chocolate and tv this evening then.

Rang the doctors this evening and the bloody phone lines were down!!

mascaraisamust · 03/09/2015 19:31

I didn't get mine either Hmm

OP posts:
Sunshinegirl2015 · 03/09/2015 20:45

Hope results are good shary

Oh mascara this cold sounds horrible.

Had my smear today. Strong line on cheapie opk today. The nurse said "your cervix is hiding" and I was like yeah I'm due to ovulate today haha. She said it looked normal though so fingers crossed although she said the NHS may refuse to analyse the sample as I've had a smear within the last three years so we'll see.

Vaginal ultrasound in two and a half weeks.

If I ovulate tomorrow it'll be 2/3 days earlier than usual which I wonder if it could be down to the evening primrose oil capsules I've been taking.

sunshinegirl12 · 03/09/2015 20:56

Oh sunshine, that all sounds positive, fingers crossed for you.

Hope you start to feel better soon Mascara. Flowers

I had a pre-holiday pampering appointment tonight and I think it's the first time in months that i totally switched off and got the thought of ttc completely out of my head...it felt so good!! think I'll be spending a lot more time there in the future x
