Just wondered if anyone else is like me and DH and have been thinking about baby names?? We can't agree on girls, but boys we find easy... we could have a bunch of boys and agree on every name!!

I know I shouldn't be thinking of names when I am not even pg, but I can't help myself!!Anyone got any cool name ideas?? Promise I won't steal any of them I'd love to hear what other people are thinking... or am I the only one mental enough to think this far ahead??

oops meant Ethan not Etham (that can't be a name surely??)

And my half Irish half English comment looks bizarre, but it was in reference to Mellowma's mum being English and not liking Ethan

SpeckledHen · 12/11/2006 20:04

aprilmeadow · 13/11/2006 09:36

LG&T your names are lovely. My ds is called Jack and we have pretty common names lined up for this one. Either George or Ella.

Speaking of funny names i went to school with a girl and her and her siblings all had bizarre names:
Rain
Cloud
Happy
Toggle

I'm sure there are some i have missed!

aprilmeadow · 13/11/2006 09:37

CaptainDippy · 13/11/2006 10:28

aprilmeadow - LOL @ Toggle - goodness me!!

DH and I started thinking about names v.early on. Funnily enough, we never really agreed on any girls names, but we have always had Arthur Benjamin for a boy. We also like Pip, Wilbur, George, Gilbert and a few others I can't remember - boys names have never been a problem!! ...and low and behold, we ended up with two girls!!!!

We have a Katherine Deborah and a Sophia Helen-May.

This time we sat down and decided on a definite girl's name (I'm due end of April next yr), which is Phoebe Elisabeth Joan.

You must be v.excitied ready4 - congratulations!!

Juicylucythe2nd · 13/11/2006 13:03

Am 12wks pg tomorrow and haven't officially started thinking about it as won't really believe this is going all the way until after the scan tomorrow.

However, DH has already thrown a name in the ring:

Kitty - he had an Aunty Kitty and loves the name. I however am worried about cat connections. What do you all think?

I love Scarlett and also Isobel. Haven' thought further than that.

BTW - if it's a boy we're screwed as we've both only thought in girl terms so far. LOL!

Natty - how about Patience. I think you've shown amazing amounts of that so far in your quest

Natty1806 · 13/11/2006 13:09

JL - i am liking that 'patience' think it would be a nice middle name.

Good luck tomorrow let me know how it goes

Ready4motherhood - much better to occupy the ttc time with nice things like names than all the trials and tribs involved in the waiting game.

Your time will come. xx

ready4motherhood · 13/11/2006 14:07

Thanks JuicyLucy.. Congrats to you by the way!! How very exciting

ShowOfHands · 13/11/2006 14:17

I'm currently 14wks pg and we're having:

For a boy: Finnigan (and then Barnaby (Barney Rae for not-so-short) or Seth if we have any more)

For a girl: Mathilda Rose (also love Iris and Hazel for future use)

I know siblings called Phinnibus, Elphin and Merlin. They are all, obviously, effortlessly cool.

MrsMcJnr · 13/11/2006 15:00

Ok, Ready I've come over here because you asked me. Last time I went on a name thread and said my preferences I got absolutely slated (I wasn't alone though) so here goes and then I'll duck behind the monitor -

Girls:

Mia
Leah
Anna
Kathryn

Kayjo - we are Scottish as well . As you can see, we have a Mc surname so think Mia would sound good. We have a cat called Tia though so DH is not convinced . I also Like Leah.. again, the Tia issue!! The cat is actually named after the a child I did an adoption case for when I first qualified as a solicitor! DH has no thoughts yet on girls names.

Boys - now hear me out!! DH loves these names but I am not sure but I am warming to the first one. We are moving to Spain to live so these names wouldn't be so unusual there:

Xavier
Issac
Zeus
Benitio (not with a Mc surname though!!)

I love a lot of Scottish names like Innes, Euan, Callum, Jamie etc but seeing as we are almost the last of our friends to consider having kids, a lot of the good names have already been used!

ready4motherhood · 13/11/2006 15:31

MrsMc - Please tell me you didn't get slated for your choice of names???????? I am thoroughly disgusted Those people should be ashamed!! Understandably not everyone has the same tastes, but surely if you want to comment on others choices, tact and diplomacy is key.... I really hope I have not said anything unkind about another person's choice of name (best check the thread - eeeek!)
I wondered why you had not posted. (((hugs)))

Well...where do I start. Mia Mc would be wonderful, don't let the cat name be an issue. Leah and Anna are on DHs list, and I like them both, but know a rather unsavoury girl from school (yeah I know, get over it Ready) named Leah, so not sure I could have it, and with Anna I am drawn to Hannah if we went down that route. Kathryn is very pretty, and love the spelling too!!!
LUUUUUURVE Xavier (DH would never let me go for anything that unique ) would it be pronounced Havier?? Nickname Xavi??? It doesn't matter actually, both ways are cool!! How are you pronouncing Issac?? Am I being fick?? I am thinking Isaac??? Which I just adore, very manly!!
Have to confess I am not sure about Zeus sorry... but I would never slate it!! Still disgusted by those nasty people!!
Benitio is really cool, but agree that you would need a more continental last name!! How about Ben?
Innes is very cute, I have never heard that before! Love Euan and Callum. Know too many Jaimie.
What is the etiquette with friends going first?? Especially if you had loved a name since you were a girl????

OP posts:
Juicylucythe2nd · 13/11/2006 15:35

Hello MrsMc - Think Mia's pretty, but now have 3 friends with a daugther with that name, so it's sort of worn out.

Love Xavier - is it pronounce Havier? or Zavier. Think Havier is muy macho. Me likes.

Need to seriously start thinking about boys names as I keep dreaming it's going to be a boy.

ready4motherhood · 13/11/2006 15:35

In fact... scrap what I said... I think Benitio Mc would work. Love it. When I said it out loud I thought it was really cool!!

OP posts:
Juicylucythe2nd · 13/11/2006 15:37

whoops x posted -

Well how is it pronounced MrsMc

ready4motherhood · 13/11/2006 15:40

Just checked the thread and realise that PMSL laughing is kinda slating so I want to apologise sincerely for my laughter towards the names Toffee Wolf, Diesel, Suede, Denim and Velvet. Whilst I would not choose them for my children, I most definitely should not have laughed at them.

Very sorry.

OP posts:
Juicylucythe2nd · 13/11/2006 15:55

Sorry, Ready, but all you CAN do is PYSL at names like that - they're having a bubble! Unless they want their sons to be stuntmen!!!
