Just wondered if anyone else is like me and DH and have been thinking about baby names?? We can't agree on girls, but boys we find easy... we could have a bunch of boys and agree on every name!!

I know I shouldn't be thinking of names when I am not even pg, but I can't help myself!!Anyone got any cool name ideas?? Promise I won't steal any of them I'd love to hear what other people are thinking... or am I the only one mental enough to think this far ahead??

Don't you find that now though. There are sooo many surnames used as First names. Edward, Jason, James, Carter, Jeffery, Cassey, they are all surnames of people I know yet used commonly as first names. In actuall fact I think that was where we got Harrison from. One of my casual employees name was Chris Harrison. As we didn't even think about a boys name until he was born I really have no idea, it just sprung to mind when he was born. We had a middle name chosen but not a first.

Greedy!

Some really great names coming up - keep on going ladies!?

I was watching Maternity Ward on Living last night and I just couldn't believe that all the women knew what sex their babies were and reeled off their whole name too before the birth! I have always said I didn't want to know the sex of my child because it makes it even harder if something goes wrong and you have thought about the baby as someone with a name. Maybe I'm wrong. One woman had named her baby daughter before the birth then out came a boy! he he he!

Frenchsmallfry · 15/11/2006 11:47

I'm with you on that point mrsMcJr.

We got Brodie from my mums friends surname too. MEntioned it as a joke and both of us loved it.

Natty1806 · 15/11/2006 13:05

That is very true Mrs. Will try and not find out the sex when i get preggers, need some suprises in life. x

ready4motherhood · 15/11/2006 13:07

You are not wrong MrsMc... I don't want to know the sex of the baby until it is born.

I have dd (the only girl amongst 4 boys) who is desperate for this baby to be a girl, im going to find out because if its a boy its going to take the next 20 weeks to calm her down before the baby is born. If we leave it she may be so dissapointed when its born and i want it to be lovely for everyone in the family.

Im not fussed either way nor is Dh but all the kids want a sister, not sure how we will get her used to the idea though. I think it is a boy

ready4motherhood · 15/11/2006 19:51

LargeG&T, It's very possible that if I ever reach the stage where I am pg with number 6 I may well feel differently. Hey whatever works for your family! Bless your DD and all those brothers!! From a personal standpoint, I want the surprise on delivery (for want of a better phrase)

What do people think of Liberty for a girl?? I'm not really sure if I can have a name that ends in Y because of the run on factor, but I quite like it. Sorry if it has been mentioned previously??

I love Liberty, but then I like Libby too and the chances are it will be shortened to that.

Personally I think it is very important to like all shortened versions of any name you give a child. There is no point spending a loosing battle saying his name is Edward, not Eddie all the childs life. IYKWIM

Did anyone see the Times on Friday?? Ha ha. It was all about names, and I was thinking about all of you. Did you know that last year 6 poor babes were named Gandalf!!?? What is that all about?

MrsMcJnr · 20/11/2006 12:03

now that's ... different!

Ready · 21/11/2006 11:04

Poor little mites will be bullied at school. Also one baby was named Harry Potter, don't know what the surname was... it's just mean.
