Hi everyone - there seems to be loads of us who have just started using the CBFM, so I thought I'd start a new thread on the topic so we can share tips and experiences - and hopefully BFPs!

This is my 1st month of using it - so far have had HIGH readings from CD11...still waiting patiently for my PEAK reading...

How's everyone else getting on with it?!?

sorry that should say I'm now on day 29!

cityangel · 02/03/2007 10:59

It was my understanding that the two lines measure different things one is LH surge and the other Estrogen.

I don't think it helps on the Pg test front but aparently shows a flashing m if it thinks you are overdue

mumto3girls · 02/03/2007 11:36

thanks...apparently the m starts flashing a few days before you are due...mines been flashing for 3-4 days now

Hey ladies - hope you don't mind me butting in, but just wanted to say I used the CBFM as part of a conception study in 2005 and on the 2nd month of using it fell pg (had been ttc 5 months prior to that). I didn't have the full info it only showed highs and lows -I chatted with other users on the study as I finished the 1st cycle and got some hints on how to work out the peak days - and hey presto! So even using it with limited info it worked for me! Wishing you lots of luck and bfps.

cityangel · 07/03/2007 11:40

Thank for your good wishes. I am hopefull as it seems very accurate.

mumto3girls · 07/03/2007 14:40

I bought this last month..used it foe February...got peak days on 14/15th and got my BFP today!!!!

cityangel · 07/03/2007 14:48

congratulations Mumto3girls is this your fourth then?

mumto3girls · 07/03/2007 15:13

Yes it is..

I have two daughters from 1st DP and then I have dd3 aged 21 months from current DP..we tried so hard for her and I had 4 mc's...then finally struck Gold!

We have been trying for 6 months doe no.4 and hopefully have struck gold again..( I'm keeping my fingers crossed this one sticks).

me too keep us posted

I've been lurking on this thread for a while and have just decided to join in. I'm wondering when's the earliest I could do a pregnancy test as my cycle is a bit variable and I never know quite when I can start to test. I had 2 peak days, should I test 14 days after the second of these?

citydevilbunny · 31/03/2007 01:17

Some get positives from 10DPO some only 14DPO some later. Usual response is around the 14 day mark. You can get more sensitive HCG tests at level 10 (earlier response) most are level 25 and above. Bottom line is if you only have one and limited resources wait. If you want to go mad and test lots you can start earlier. Generally you only get false negatives eg. testing too early when you are actually pregnant. If you get a faint positive usually you are.

I have found the CBFM ideal for determining OV. It would be useful if it had inbuilt pg testing too. That's if I ever get pg!

crest · 02/04/2007 09:09

Thank you for getting back to me. I think I'll wait until 14d pov rather than risk putting myself through a series of negatives which may be unnecessary.

citydevilbunny · 02/04/2007 14:19

Good luck

Janus · 05/06/2007 09:37

Grr! Just started using this again and am now on day 18 and the monitor has been high since day 7 but still no peak. This doesn't make sense to me. Is it possible the monitor has missed my peak or do you think, for some reason, I just won't ovulate this month? I usually ov around day 12-14 so will try the sticks for a few more days and then give up at day 21 as it is so expensive to buy the sticks.
Just wondered if anyone else did not get a 'peak' one month?

my1stbaby · 05/06/2007 10:35

Hi Janus: understand how frustrating it is. i have the same problem with my CBFM this cycle. i ovulated very late, cd27 and the monitor just says High fron cd9 onwards. i finsihed whole box of 20 sticks without getting peak. i ditched the monitor in the end. might try it again next cycle. i just kept charting my temp which is how i know i did ovulate. really thought it was anovulatory for. i also used opk sticks throughout the cycle 2x a day and they were also negative as well. maybe my surge is a bit on the low side for the opk to detect .

Janus · 05/06/2007 12:34

my1stbaby, that is really weird isn't it? How many days was your cycle then? I've never had it this late before, guess I will go on using the sticks now just to see what happens! Don't understand why the monitor shows a high when your hormones obviously aren't changing. Hope everything settles next month then.

my1stbaby · 05/06/2007 13:25

apparently the monitor will keep on registering high until it finds a peak or when the oestrogen level drops to give you a low reading. it's my second cycle with the monitor. unfortunately ovulated very late for the first time ever. probably because my hormones are still all over the place after m/c. normally my cycle is 26-27 days and ovulate on cd 16-17 and LH surge on cd12-14. 1st cycle after m/c was only 24 days. hopefully will be better next cycle.
