Hi everyone - there seems to be loads of us who have just started using the CBFM, so I thought I'd start a new thread on the topic so we can share tips and experiences - and hopefully BFPs!

This is my 1st month of using it - so far have had HIGH readings from CD11...still waiting patiently for my PEAK reading...

How's everyone else getting on with it?!?

OP posts:
MerryKitkatmas · 06/12/2006 11:38

I had a look on their website and it seems to be just 3 readings of low, peak and high. I must have imagined the 3 bars with no egg symbol!! Let me know what type of readings you get? If you do get 3 bars and no egg, then at least I know I'm not losing my mind!

How are you and your DH this morning? Sorry to hear you had a row about BD. How much do you talk to him about TTC? I hardly tell mine anything - good in one way, in that he doesn't have to know all the details, so feels less like a performing seal!! But when I do get upset about stuff, he doesnt understand where it's all coming from...difficult balance really.

Artoo · 06/12/2006 13:40

I've never seen three bars without an egg. So the three possible readings are:

Low (1 bar)
High (2 bars)
Peak (3 bars with egg).

Hugs,
Artoo.

MerryKitkatmas · 06/12/2006 13:44

Thanks Artoo - I obviously just imagined the whole thing!

sparklytreeangel · 11/12/2006 15:40

Hey everyone got my first High day! So I think I might get peak tomorrow.... when both of us are out aaargh

There is also a definite faint second line on the stick so that must be how the CBM reads it!

OPK and EWCM today so fingers crossed!

MerryKitkatmas · 12/12/2006 09:29

Fingers very crossed Sparkly! What CD are you? (I had several highs before I got my 2 peaks...)

sparklytreeangel · 12/12/2006 09:53

KitKat I am CD19 after my only high yesterday I got Peak today! Two days later than previous months OV time. Annoyingly we are both out tonight but have been at it the last fews days so fingers crossed

What happened after you got Peak?

AF due Christmas day!

MerryKitkatmas · 12/12/2006 10:05

Umm - I had 2 PEAKS, another HIGH and then a LOW... do you get ov pains at all?

sparklytreeangel · 12/12/2006 10:22

I got such bad OV pains yesterday I had to have a hot water bottle... that's never happened before!

What time of day do you test? I've copied a link to my chart as it shows the CBFM readings.

cityangelchart

How are you getting on? Feeling low, med or high.. good day/ average day/ great day?

MerryKitkatmas · 12/12/2006 10:39

I normally test about 6.30am during the week, and then about 7.30/8am on weekends?

I?m currently 6dpo ? we managed to BD days 12, 14 and 15 ? I?m pretty sure I ov?d on CD15 (peak reading and ov pains). Not feeling lucky this month though? feel like we should have done it on cd16 and 17 as well, just to be sure! We were spot on with timing last month too ? but nada! Just feeling a bit grumpy and fed up ? tired of thinking about TTC ALL the time!! Just want to enjoy Christmas and forget about it for a while?

Sorry, that sounds so grumpy!! I?m feeling much happier than I sound ? honest!

sparklytreeangel · 12/12/2006 10:48

Oh KitKat it is hard. We are going to try and keep going this month in case we have been stopping too early!

After BFNs I got really down a couple of weeks ago. It does start to feel impossible and make you wonder how anyone gets BFP.

I am trying to think of fun things I can do if BFN at Christmas. Naughty cocktails and nights out to cheer me up.

Sounds like you got BFP at the right time so fingers crossed and big grumpy hugs

MerryKitkatmas · 12/12/2006 10:52

Thanks hon - appreciate the grumpy hugs!! This is only our 3rd cycle so I really shouldn't feel too disheartened yet, it's just that it's so frustrating! All the elements seem to be in place and we appear to being doing it at the right time - so I cant work out why it's not happening . You cant help but worry that there might be something wrong with one of us...

I will definitely be having a boozy new year if I get a BFN this month!!

sparklytreeangel · 12/12/2006 11:39

5th cycle and we have had all the same worries. Still its a fun time of year and I don't want to look back on it and see myself as miserable... just need to get on with it and enjoy our free time freedom while it lasts!

MerryKitkatmas · 13/12/2006 08:31

Aaaargh! forgot to press the button today!! It's a LOW non-testing day - but does this mean the monitor will be a day behind now??!

sparklytreeangel · 13/12/2006 10:16

KitKat find your instruction pamflet there is a way you can move it forward. I can't remember how but I do remember reading about it.

I got Peak again today - 2 days in a row?!

So 1 high 2 Peaks!

MerryKitkatmas · 13/12/2006 10:35

Will have to hunt it out! Hopefully it wont make a difference as it's just a non-testing day

Yep - I got 2 peaks both months, followed by a high and then a low.

sparklytreeangel · 13/12/2006 11:30

Oh good so I am not too odd then!

nadinetd · 19/12/2006 10:42

hi girls

sparklytreeangel · 19/12/2006 14:02

Thanks Nadine... Not doing too badly with lots of Christmas stuff to keep me busy!

First month of using CBFM and it said I OVd 2 days later than I was expecting. So now am hanging in there to see whether I did OV later this month or if I have a short luteal phase!

I have had my first few test free days which is a nice break from the daily stick! The CBFM definitely works on line reading I think

sparklytreeangel · 23/12/2006 00:21

Yay KitKat CBFM graduate who else is left with their CBFM?

Happy Christmas to everyone

nadinetd · 05/01/2007 10:24

hope u all had a lovely xams and happy new year to you all, how are you all doing? just thought i would touch base for an update x

Janus · 13/01/2007 09:11

Hello all, looking for some advice.
I've just started using the monitor this month and am on day 7 and have got my first 'high' which I'm very confused about. I have a 29 to 32 day cycle normally and using the opks have shown to ovulate around day 14 to 16. So why am I getting a high today on day 7?? This seems really odd, can you have days of highs? Luckily dp has just come home from a work trip this morning so will put it all to good use anyway!! If this is true could explain our lack of luck in previous months as we have tried to organise his trips around this time to be ready for middle of the month.
Basically then, how do your 'highs' fall and how long do they last?
Thanks!

cityangel · 13/01/2007 14:10

Hi Janus,

As I understand it the CBFM test sticks are mini OV tests. If you look at any of the high ones they should have a faint second blue line that the machine has read. With the Peak one that blue line is stronger if not the same as the other one.

I had 2 days of high last month followed by 1 peak day then low again. This month I am on my 4th day of high!

We were also surprised by the highs as they are later than we were trying so you never know just go for it. It is added expense but I also used OV tests as a comparison in my first month and the results were similar.

Janus · 18/01/2007 10:45

OK, another question!! Got my first 'high' yesterday but have another one today, is this normal? Do you usually have more than one 'high' day? It also seems early for me, day 11 and 12, did any of you find the monitor gave you an earlier ovulation day than using, say, OPKs? Thanks!

Artoo · 25/01/2007 07:47

Janus - multiple "high" days is perfectly normal - I usually got between 3 and 5 before my "peak" day.

I used the monitor alongside traditional OPKs for a couple of months, and the two gave "peak" readings the same day. The monitor reads the same hormone as an OPK, so there shouldn't be any difference in results (but bear in mind your ovulation date can vary from cycle to cycle).

Hugs,
Artoo.

mumto3girls · 02/03/2007 09:05

Hi Ladies I need some help and advice please...
I am using the clearblue monitor for the first time this month.. it worked and i got a peak day on day 14...
I'm now on day 20..my cycles always used to be spot on 28/29 days - the last few months they have stretched to 33 days at tmes.
So I don't want to waste the one pg test I have in the house...soeone once told me that OV tests often show a positive test when you're pg...in the clear blue ones which lines would show this..please don't say first or second line cos i won't know which way to look at it? Also does anyone know if it's true at all?

Thanks and good luck everyone!!
