TTC First Time - Anyone else?

HippyStar · 30/04/2014 13:47

My husband and I are TTC! I have been off the pill for a month now and have started taking folic acid and calcium with vit D to ensure if anything does happen I'm as healthy as possible. Limiting caffeine and alcohol but not cutting it out completely as you never know how long it will take! All my friends have just fallen pregnant really easily, but I have a feeling this will not be the case for me. I can't remember when my last period was either which is annoying as will need to wait for the next one before I can chart etc. Hmm Is anyone else out there TTC now? We could all share our stories and encourage each other! Smile

Hi Gemerama ah sorry af arrived. I so understand this is month 1 for us and I am checking every sign cf, temping and we are dtd ever other day. No idea if I will ovulate this month, was hoping temp would tell me but it's up and down loads. Have all crossed I will fall ASAP but in y head I am thinking could take till oct/nov time. Praying it doesn't given I want to leave my job yest but I guess we will have to wait and see. Not symptom spotting as yet but bet that will come.xx

Rainbow555 · 21/05/2014 07:24

katybear it's surprising how quick the symptom spotting starts! This is cycle 2 for me but last month we only DTD once as DH was away and even then I started thinking, oh could it be? Lol! It was PMS symptoms and af arrived that week! Still it was good to know things were returning to 'normal' after more than 10 years on the pill! Not temping or checking for ovulation yet just going by the dates and the app, so who knows really!

I'm in 2ww territory now! Am certainly not pregnant though, I can feel nothing different. I have one week today until AF is due on CD28 although the app has predicted CD31 so may be waiting a bit longer for AF. Grin

Quick q guys do any of you get ovulation pain? I'm trying to stop looking for signs but keen to know I am ovulating and dont know what one would look like so is every time I have a feel at all I wonder. Not sure if indigestion or ovulation pain. Any advice?

Rainbow555 · 21/05/2014 20:06

I think I do but can't be sure as I don't test for it. But last cycle and this one I had back ache on one side a bit like period pain and more of a sharp pain at the front and cm in the same day and this month it was the day the app said was OV....could just be me looking for things or could real!
But I think it can differ for everyone.

climbergirlali · 22/05/2014 09:33

Gemerama and rainbow. .. I'm so glad it's not just me!! Im on cd35 of cycle 1 and really worried I have mucked up my body with the years of abuse :( having horrible images of having to start clomid etc :( really thought my body would kick in to normal cycles! Instead I'm just obsessively checking for blood or a bfp and getting neither in between googling other people who have had negatives for ages then got their bfp :( 1

Hi everyone. I have to admit I have never writen on a forum before and I don't know what half the acronyms mean but I felt compelled to join as this is exactly sums up how I am feeling at the mo.
My hubby and I started TTC beginning of April when we got married. I'm 27, he is 28 and I wasn't on the pill. Now I wouldn't say I am completely regular but AF normally arrives between 32-37 days. But on our honeymoon I was late. On day 40 we managed to find a pharmacy and got our first BFN. After the excitement of the wedding and thinking we may have got lucky first shot it was quite a big blow to take. We took another test on day 44 when home and another BFN. AF finally arrived day 48!
To round this off AF arrived again 14 days later. I have never had such a short cycle under 30 days.
I'm so confused by everything. I went from excitement and optimism and understanding my cycles and when to out in the big effort for TTC and now I just don't know and worried we are really gonna struggle.
We always said we where going to take it easy, no stress and see what happens and I was definitely in that place but now with all the AF issues I have started worrying.
I'm trying not to let on to hubby but now I find myself researching periods, mucus etc ect and I can't work out how to relax about it. I know we are only on cycle 2 but it's got me worrying. I'm reading into every stomach twitch, every slightly queasy moment and very tiny bit of weight gained. Add to this my mum had 5 miscarriages between me and my sister. Anyone got any advice about how to relax about the whole thing or am I just doomed to think about this 24/7 until it finally happens?

Hey ladies,
I'm back - but we're putting the ttc on hold until July - we're going to be traveling (proper itinerants at the moment) for all of June, so it seemed good to have one less thing to worry about. I thought I would be chilled about the whole thing, but with the symptom spotting, early or late AF, and ovulation cramps, I think I want to be more informed about what's going on, so when I'm home and stable (haha!) I'll be beginning charting - because I'm not the easy-going person I would like to be, and the charting will hopefully show me that yes I did ovulate (or not). A couple of friends have done it and said it's really useful (also easy to do). My firends recommended the book Take Charge of Your Fertility. I've not read much of it yet, but it does stress that long cycles are ok - and can get longer in times of stress. Good luck BabySalt, and everyone!

kittenmamma · 22/05/2014 15:09

TTC first time also, Just got married and came off pill. Day 5 of cycle #1 so literally all brand new!

kittenmamma · 22/05/2014 15:16

Babysalt, you are probably doomed to think about it all the time but I reckon that's normal, hence the thread! Don't think about your family past, because it will drive you up the wall and it means nothing, my husband and my mum's side of the family are all very fertile, doesn't mean I haven't got the fear. Don't do ovulation tests, don't google everything, just enjoy being newly married! And buy some sexy lingerie, because the more fun you have the less stressed you are, and stress is detrimental to TTC :) chin up, you'll be fine!

HullKat · 22/05/2014 20:55

Yes me!! I'm 35 and this will be my first. Trying CB digital dual OPK for the first time and I'm day 3 of the flashing smiley face. Anyone else had any similar experiences? Where are we all in our cycles? Also trying Balance Active conceive, seems quite good actually Smile, hope everyone is well.

Katybear123 · 22/05/2014 21:13

Hi guys, nice to have some new newbies. Gemerama thanks for info on tewaks not sure if it's ovulation or a bug, I guess we will see.

Currently on cd 11 1st month ttc. It's hard not to let it get to you so greenwolf I understand charting I am using fertility friend app to track temp but mine is very erratic. Current about to hit the key ovulation time if I ovulate as this is first month of ttc and have been on pill for 17 yrs. finding the balance of telling hubbie stuff is tough want him to know but don't want it to be a conveyer belt. But it's a key time between now and Monday so maybe I'll just get him drunk!

greenwolf · 22/05/2014 21:24

Lol katybear123 that sounds like a plan! Trying to balance all these thoughts is hard - knowing how much to share - although I wonder if my husband would be grateful for more (general) information on my cycle, as it seems to mystify him so much - especially the pre-menstrual bit!

BabySalt · 23/05/2014 13:09

I'm currently on cd11 although my little AF app tells me my window doesn't open until next weekend. Still gonna get busy with the hubby in the mean time if I can get rid of our friend who is staying with us for a few months from the house!! Don't think he realises he is getting in the way of a VIP task! Blush
I think I have a good handle on my cycle etc but I would be interested in trying an opk one month just to see if I have got it right or not! Those who have tried them - Are they easy enough to do and work out? Do u have to do one everyday for most of your cycle?
Kittymama thanks for the pep talk. Exactly what I needed. In fact hubby just texted to say he is in no certain terms telling our guest to get lost tonight! Grin

chrissie44 · 23/05/2014 15:03

First time ttc, been trying for nearly 10 months, we have decided to go for the clearblue advanced fertility monitor to try and increase our chances naturally! AF is currently here so just waiting to start using it. I have also just found out i am diabetic which adds to the complexity as i have to be extra careful now. New to all this forum stuff but really looking for some support and advice. xxx

hope you all have success soon xx

Katybear123 · 23/05/2014 16:21

Hi Chrissie no opk experience I'm afraid, this is only cycle 1 so not sure it's yet worth it. Just dtd every other day. So many different stories out there about whether frequency to dtd, time for periods to return, whether you have to have cm to fall preg it's making my head hurt. I think it's a wonder anyone ever gets preg!

LancashireTea · 23/05/2014 21:39

Happy half term ladies! Glad to see that many of you feel the same as I do, even though I've only been at this for a few weeks.
In my case I've been so bloody poorly the last few days. Feeling sick and dizzy and had a right temperature last night, but not sure what it is, probably a bug from school.
AF turned out to only be spotting for 3 days and was mainly when I went to the loo, so god knows what that was all about. AF is due this Wednesday (27th), so I'm going to put of POASing till then (but was naughty t'other day and it was no wonder it was a BFN!).

Good luck to all of you this Bank holiday weekend. No DTD for me as I have a friend down.

Rainbow555 · 23/05/2014 22:35

Lancashire- implanting bleeding? When af spotted? Could it be a SYMPTOM??

Katybear123 · 23/05/2014 22:57

I was thinking the same as rainbow, could it be?

HullKat · 24/05/2014 09:35

I have tried the CB dual hormone digital OPK for the first time this month and I've found it really easy to use once you get your head round it, you start POASing around days 6-10 after the start of AF, depending on the length of your AF. It measures your estrogen levels, and you start with an empty circle on the digital reader. Once your estrogen gets high enough you get a flashing smiley face, which can last from a couple of days to more. Once you reach peak fertility i.e. You ovulate, you get a solid smiley face that is meant to stay on the reader for 48 hours. They say you should DTD when the smiley face flashes, when it's static and for a couple of days after to be sure.
I'm now 2DPO and just waiting with fingers crossed.
Not sure if my experience helps or not, just thought I'd share Smile

LancashireTea · 24/05/2014 11:48

Who knows Katy and rainbow. I have got my fingers x'd but am trying not to get my hopes up too much. Going to wait and see if the red flood of hell arrives on the 27th before I Poas again.
