ShouldKnowByFriday so pleased, congrats you have given (me) the oldie some hope

coggy · 23/09/2006 21:53

Probably Natty.
I LOVED the early scan.
DH couldn't come as it was his first day on a residential course and I went and saw a dot (!) with a flickering heartbeat and had to bite my tongue REALLY hard so I didn't cry!!!

Amazing!
Here's hoping you have yours in about nine weeks time eh??!!
Get that DH of yours to keep his promise about tomorrow's Love Fest!!!

Get your Dodgy Dolphin out and Go For It!!!!!

no dolphin being used today. x

Artoo · 25/09/2006 17:55

Natty - so pleased your scan went well

SKBY - fantastic news, congrats on your BFP I'm so pleased the injectibles worked for you. That will be my next step, with IUI, if the IUI with clomid doesn't work out.

hugs to coggy too

Just back from a weekend at Center Parcs with DH and our very good friends who have two sons - one is 3 and a half, the other is 9 months. Boy, aren't kids hard work! LOL. It was great fun though, and good to spend time with the boys. DH said he learned a lot about kids in the time, which is great. Made us both even more desperate for our own though

Been waiting for the nurse to call me about my IUI this cycle, she hasn't done yet, so I'll need to call her again in the morning. /sigh

Hugs,
Artoo.

Whoopes - I meant SKBF, not SKBY

ShouldKnowByFriday · 25/09/2006 19:40

Hello all. Thank you Artoo for your kind wishes. Got my beta hcg results and they are a whopping 2521 which is high so may indicate a multiple pregnancy. SO I am pleased that all is well but am apprehensive about the health of a multiple pregnancy. I am not sure when they say multiple if that could be twins only or or more. Am having scan next thursday, they will also do swab for vaginal micro organisms and strep b test and if they are pos they will give me antibiotics as a precaution. There is no reason for it to be pos due to anything I have done but we are talking about the human body and bacteria. I really am in a state of shock about this as clomid wasn't going anywhere but this Menopur has done it. I also completely gave up caffeine and alcohol on this cycle as I wanted to give it my best shot, you may wish to do that as well. And I didn't do IUI, I did timed intercourse.

If you do go onto injectibles, I assure you it is very simple and doesn't hurt as needle soooo fine.

Good luck everybody on this thread and be assured that if clomid doesn't do the trick there are injectibles which work on the ovaries directly instead of tricking the body into thinking it isn't producing enough oestrogen and therefore producing more which is how clomid works.

coggy · 25/09/2006 20:13

SKBF....they told me today that multiples included twins - it's not necessarily more.
I hope you are not too worried about your scan.

I was nervous with DS after being on clomid for several months...but only had one.
X

Artoo...I went to see the IUI nurse today...she was lovely.
I'm having IUI and injectibles....I was totally scared but actually came out of the clinic feeling happy about it all.
They said that anytime I wanted to break from it that was fine as I had to feel ready etc. etc.
I think I'm going to start my treatment in January so that it gives me a couple of month's for the clomid to come out of my system and get Christmas out of the way too!

I hope that you get your appointment through very soon.
And thank you to everyone who has been sending me positive thoughts today....it was good!!!

Coggy, which injectibles have you been prescribed?

I am not worried about the scan but I am aware of the risks with a multiple pregnancy.

Do you need to get clomid out of your system before going on to injectibles? I had a scan after 4 go's of clomid and at the scan on day 3 they saw a cyst so I couldn't start the injectibles until that had gone and they prescribed primulut for that which did get rid of it. There was no mention of getting clomid out of my system but maybe you will feel better giving it a break. As the injectibles contain LH, there is no point in home ov tests as the reading will be wrong, I hope they told you this and hope you are goign to be scanned. Very best of luck Coggy!

coggy · 26/09/2006 07:11

They didn't tell me about the ov kits but I'm going to be doing a hcg jab to release the eggs anyway so I guess I wouldn't have used one anyway?

I've got (can't remember the names ans I haven't actually got my sticky mitts on them yet!) one drug to stop me producing FSH and one drug to give me FSH (?!) and then two jabs of hcg...one to release the eggs and one to maintain the womb lining and I think there was another drug somewhere but I can't rememeber what it was or what it was for!!!!

So much information but when I start they'll write it all down for me!!

I do one cycle and then they scan me for cysts.
They said that if they find several cysts then I have to have a month's IUI break anyway to let them go again.
Unfortunately the scan is when you have AF which is a bit grim....but I am slowly getting to the point where I don't care anymore...I just want to get on with it......even doing the injections myself is beginning to look less scary!!!

Your sounding very positive coggy.

HopefulDreams · 27/09/2006 19:45

I started a new thread yesterday but I got a couple of replies that assure me this is the best place to talk about clomid. I started clomid last month and had the most unusual month of my life. I started taking clomid on day 3 of my cycle and from that moment onwards I had stomach cramps on and off the whole month. I thought 'good it's working', and it did I got a scan on day 14 and my follicle was 20mm. I got my HCG injection and sent merely on my way. I was convinced I was pregnant what with continual cramping and then when I started to get really sensitive nipples I was certain. I read alot on the internet about how people who where pregnant had still experienced cramping as normal on the run up to their periods. But low and behold, day 27 arrived and as normal so did my period. I was disappointed but not disheartened,.... maybe next month. I started my 2nd round of clomid today and the cramps have started again, so I guess it is still working. Please share your experiences with me..... as you sit and wonder is this how it feels for everyone else. My partner is great but he doesn't understand the sensations that go through your body the whole month.... tell me what it's like for the rest of you please. -x-

coggy · 27/09/2006 20:36

Only on here quickly Hopeful Dreams but remember that the hcg that you have in the mid-cycle jab is the sme hormone as is measured on HPTs so you may well feel nausea and sore boobs because you've had that jab.

A 20mm follicle is good. Well done.

Artoo · 28/09/2006 21:57

HopefulDreams, welcome to the clomid thread, and don't be disheartened. As coggy said, the HCG will have made you have the same symptoms as if you were pregnant.

Most people seem to think if Clomid is going to work for you it will do so in the first 6 cycles, although when I joined this thread there was a lady who had just got her BFP on her seventh clomid cycle, so there is always hope

I'm currently on my 7th clomid cycle, I hope the clomid works faster for you.

Hugs,
Artoo.

trace2 · 02/10/2006 10:52

well ladies i got my bfp, again just hope its sticks this time, i was giving up clomid this month too.

babydust to all

HopefulDreams · 02/10/2006 21:48

Sorry but I need to ask what is BFP? I have been trying to work it out - it is probably really simple but help I don't know what it is. Don't laugh at me if it is really obvious.

p.s. I go for my day 12 scan on Thursday, getting much of the same feels I had last month so hope I have another decent sized follicle... here is hoping. xxx

Natty1806 · 03/10/2006 07:16

BFP - big fat positive (preg test)

Good luck at your scan. x

Artoo · 03/10/2006 07:20

Trace2 - congratulations, I really hope this one sticks for you, and I wish a happy and healthy 9 months

HopefulDreams - good luck for your scan on Thursday, hoping it's as good a result as last cycle

I'm being scanned this afternoon, hoping for a nice big fat follicle so we can proceed with our first IUI attempt.

Hugs,
Artoo.
