So.................?

How did it go?

Morning ladies... it was kind of an interesting day.

The IUI went fine - we dropped DH's sample off first thing in the morning, and went back at lunchtime to have it "inserted". Was just like having a smear test - same unpleasant metal implement! Afterwards I stayed lying down for a few minutes, and we went through for a chat with the consultant.

And then he hit us with the sledgehammer. They'd done a semen analysis as part of the IUI. This is the third analysis DH has had - the first one was low, the second one we were told was borderline OK, this one is low again. The consultant doesn't hold out much hope for this IUI working, and recommended that we move straight into IVF (and a particular kind of IVF called ICSI).

This came as a bit of a shock to both of us, so we're living with it for a few days before we give the go-ahead. The earliest we could do ICSI is the new year, and our consultant says we can have another IUI between now and then if we want to (but he doesn't think it'll do any good).

It feels like a bit step, and I am very nervous of it.

Hugs,
Artoo.

Oh...I'm sorry to hear that you had that surprise Artoo.

Again....I would have thought that you would have been told before you went for IUI so that he could take supplements or whatever to help.

Let's hope that this IUI does the trick anyway as lots of people fall pg even with a low sperm count.....it only takes one after all......

Hope you're both okay.

day 13 today and no ov.1st month on clomid and wondered if i changed your cycle.Bit worried as I ov on day 13 every month

HopefulDreams · 07/10/2006 16:50

Artoo - sorry to hear the news. There is always hope....don't give up.....you might just get the biggest surprise. x Doctors are a nightmare sometimes... I don't understand why they never done a test first. Do remember what Coggy says, it only takes one!

ChocolatePeanut - I never really done any ovulation tests before so can't really help with your question. Did the hospital not offer to do a scan to see if you have follicles and then offer to do the HCG injection? This seemed to be the norm as far as my hospital was concerned and it is the NHS.

CHOCOLATEPEANUT · 07/10/2006 17:17

Think I have been given drug as they dont know what else to do with me.There was no mention of any follow up sessions at hosp, I am being left to go it alone and cons said see you in nov!!

ccpink · 08/10/2006 19:36

Hi all
I've been hanging around trying to get inspiration from those of you who have got BFP! Anyway I have my first gyny appointment on Tuesday. Doc told me they would give me Clomid as I have not been ovulating but they can't anything wrong with me. Anything in particular I should ask/say? I'm sure some of you lot know more than the doc's and I am just praying they don't make me repeat any more blood tests

Natty1806 · 08/10/2006 20:48

I was told by doctor that i was not ovulating and that they would give me clomid and when i went to see my consultant he just repeated what i already knew and jsut went through how long i would be on clomid for what happens next if he does not work etc etc.

I did not ask anything as i knew a bit from people on here.

Good luck

CHOCOLATEPEANUT · 09/10/2006 19:44

ccpink · 09/10/2006 20:47

Thanks Natty
Feeling oddly nervous - god knows why? I'll let you all know how I get on!

MamaMaiasaura · 09/10/2006 22:10

Hi, I am seeing my gp on Thursday with the hope of being px clomid as have PCO - nil period since Feb and prior extremely irreg. My partner and I would like to have a baby, we have my ds (from prev rel) but no children together as yet. Am 31 and am really nervous as this is a new gp. Prev gp had me on metformin to alleviate some of the symptons but since moving the new gp hasnt px this.

any suggestions? Really really desp to conceive. Ds is already nearly 7 to will be large age gap.

Artoo · 10/10/2006 07:16

Good luck with your appointment today ccpink

I called our nurse yesterday to ask her to put us down for ICSI at the earliest opportunity. The consultant doesn't see any point in me continuing to take the clomid in the meantime, but I hope no-one minds me hanging around here for the moment...

Hugs,
Artoo.

ccpink · 10/10/2006 07:16

awen -
I'll let you know after I've been this morning. My gp said he could give it but that gyny monitor more closely what with the risks of Clomid. Reassurring, not!! So I'll see

Natty1806 · 10/10/2006 07:24

Good luck ccpink.

Artoo - yeas stay around when do you think your ICIS cycle will start?

Oh yeah AF arrived today so onto second cycle of clomid. x

ccpink · 10/10/2006 07:31

Thanks Natty, so sorry about your AF. Was really hoping for you on first month, especily as your background sounds like mine. My dh thinks I'm nutty when I have to pop on, hoping someone is pregnant that I only know though MN. But it gives a little hope. At least you've ovulated, a mini consolation that at least you can actually try properly! That's what I'm hoping for!
You can have fun trying now

Natty1806 · 10/10/2006 08:09

Thanks ccpink, yeah just need my blood results to confirm if i have ovulated but am pretty certain that i have.

Like you say get to have fun trying again.

MamaMaiasaura · 10/10/2006 09:35

ccpink, hope gp goes ok today x

what risks around clomid?

Natty1806 · 10/10/2006 09:43

Yiiiipppppppppppppeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

Just got blood results back at progestrone level was 66.

Been told to carry on with clomid and if not pregnant 6 weeks before i start my cycle 6 to give them a ring and then go in for a chat about the next stage.

Coggy - have only got this months supply left when shall i go back in for another prescription?

MamaMaiasaura · 10/10/2006 09:51

That means you better get busy then huh ;)

Congrats pleased for you

tbh i dont totoalyy understand all this prog level, what they should/shouldnt be etc but I have a felling that I will be learning soon. x

Natty1806 · 10/10/2006 10:02

thanks over 16 means you have ovulated.
