No not seen trace for about a week now. Hope she is okay.

dizzy36 · 17/08/2006 14:37

hi everyone, Dizzy the occasional poster here.

Well, my ivf cycle didn't go ahead. Last month was my first chlomid free month after 4 months of being on it. wanted to take a break before started ivf.

Turns out my fsh has shot up to 20 compared to 12.2 month before I started the chlomid. nurses say not related but too much of a coincidence for me. Am hoping that its because the chlomid is still in my system and that is the reason for the sudden increase.

I was never happy about being prescribed the chlomid, didn't seem right taking it and it did do funny things to my cycle.

Anyway, was prepared for bad news and will just have to wait until/if FSH comes down.

Has anyone been monitored while on chlomid, i.e blood test and scan. Can I ask if your day 2 hormone levels returned to normal while on chlomid?

Natty1806 · 17/08/2006 17:40

Silly question - but what is your FSh level meant to be?

dizzy36 · 17/08/2006 19:14

its not a silly question natty, I didn't know what it was until 12 months ago. Its the Follicle Stimulating Hormone produced at the start of the cycle to tell ovaries to make eggs. The higher it is the harder the ovaries are having to work to make these eggs. Women in the menopause have a very high fsh....usually around 40 I think.

My FSH showed as 14.9, which is quite high, back in April 2005 at my initital testing (bloods, sperm, vaginal scan). Drs said there was no problem with either of us. Was only when I started IUI treatment in July 2005 that they mentioned the high fsh and its importance.

Now that I can't do ivf I feel a bit angry with my clinic for not explaining FSH to me at the outset so I could make a more informed decision about my treatment i.e I could gone for the ivf straight away instead of trying everything else first. I am certain the chlomid has affected my fsh levels.

Anyone out there going through fertility testing make sure you ask specific hormones are normal i.e oest, lh, fsh.

I am also upset because high fsh can also signify a decrease in egg quality. My last pg ended in mc because of an abnormality. I can't help thinking the two are connected. Its quite possible that all my eggs are of bad quality but drs say not the case. How do they know?

I'm rambling I know, just very annoyed. They say keep getting checked each month but all that means is more money in their pocket.

Going to wait till I calm down and then decide what to do.

Sorry your having such a bad time dizzy, my fsh levels are 5.3. If you fsh levels don't drop is the next stage egg donor? What was the reason you were put on clomid? It does seem to be a case of not pregnant, well lets put everyone on clomid for 6 months and see what happens, maybe do a few tests in the mean time then talk about next stages. Sometimes i don't think they realize how much we really want to get pregnant and as horrible and stressful it is.

happyhippy · 18/08/2006 10:33

i started taking clomid on monday and what is usually a very heavy af that lasts 5-6 days has been very light and only lasted 3 days is this normal when on clomid.

Natty1806 · 18/08/2006 12:25

hi everyone

Got my clomid today gp only gave me 2 months worth which is bit of a pain as i was hoping to be given the 6 months worth.

Anyway CD24 so really hoping period come ultra early.

coggy · 18/08/2006 15:52

HappyHippy.....my AF is very light since clomid.
I seem to only bleed for 3 days....used to be around 5 or so and I'm much lighter too.

Natty....glad you got the magic beans!!
I'm sure they'll revue it after two months and give you more if necessary.....prob just the NHS saving some dosh as they think you'll be pg after two cycles!
What a fab thought eh?!

Rachee · 18/08/2006 21:46

Mellowma, don't take the clomid till you come on, day 2.

I was on depo before and didn't have a period for 18 months AFTER i stopped the injection, it really messes your system up. clomid will only work once you have come on. Don't waste your tablets or your ovaries ! ( cancer risk)....

Rachee · 18/08/2006 21:46

welcome sallywoo too !

coggy · 18/08/2006 21:47

Hi Rachee......a quick post before the rest of BB??!!!

happyhippy · 18/08/2006 21:51

thanks coggy. feels like we have been trying forever and this is hopefully our chance but cant help feeling that they are not going to work

WantAbabyNOW · 19/08/2006 00:27

Good morning to everyone!

I am not going to be counting cd days anymore. Was up to cd 85 yesterday and could not stay off the loo so decided to test a day early. and............ EBFP!!!!!!!!!!!

New term--- enormous big fat positive.

It was great using the clear blue digital as I would have been stressed out about the lines. Could not believe it though! Was crying my eyes out and phoned dh and said' hi daddy'. He did not believe it either.

Spent yesterday on the phone to the hospital trying to find out if I should continue metformin and trying to find my medicare card.. which dh had all along. Saw my gp yesterday and she confirmed everything. Am approx one month, so 9 to go! Will be going back to the gp on Mon or Tues. I think will be having an ultrasound in 2 weeks also to test for down sydrome.

I AM SO EXCITED! If I can get a bfp after no period for god knows how long, then you will all get yours I am sure.

I have had that stretching feeling also. I guess it wasnt ov pains the other week after all. I was even pg when I had that horrible smear test done, even though the day after it showed up bfn.

Wow. I have no idea what I am doing! LMAO

Natty, I rekon ask for metformin when you have your next visit to doctor.

Now I have a box of unneeded clomid!

Baby dust to all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

andi0411 · 19/08/2006 00:53

CONGRATS to Wanta- I have said so on the other thread we are on but had to come on here and say it again!!
After all you've been through it couldn't be better news!! You give us all hope!!

xx

WantAbabyNOW · 19/08/2006 01:14

Thanx Andi!

Its such a weird feeling!

Natty1806 · 19/08/2006 09:08

Big congrats to you

Coggy - i know they are saving money but not me as everytime i will have to pay for the prescription, i think and also if i get to say CD25 on the second month i will need to make an appointment ASAP in order to get my third cycle going as ideally i don't want to have any months off and it would really annoy me if i had to just because they didn't give 6 months to start with.

Also read the list of side effects - oh my god it might as well just say 'you will either get pregnant or die trying'

Happy hippy - i feel the same as you have this funny feeling they are not going to work for me.

coggy · 19/08/2006 09:25

Natty...make your appointment half way through your second cycle and then just hold on to the perscription for an extra week.

It's MUCH better for us to have them all in one go isn't it?

I was given 3 months of clomid at a time but only one injection.....got a bit costly cos I had something else at the same time too!!!

This time was very bizzare as I got my hcg jabs and clomid on my maternity benefit as it was less than a year since having my ds!!!

I think the chemist thought that was very strange.....getting fertility medication on a maternity exemption card!!!
But then.....my life is strange!!!

Wanta - congrats again.

Natty1806 · 19/08/2006 09:30

oh cogs you always make me smile.

that is true i can just hold onto the precription until AF arrives can't i, must have been having a blonde moment - again. LOL

I really hope we get lucky together with a few others who seem to have been on here ages like us.

Surely it is our turn soon.

Are you back on clomid this cycle? i have not had an injection mentioned to me should i be having one??

CD25 - come on AF i really want to start the magic beans.

coggy · 19/08/2006 09:34

My injection is a bit of a mystery to me!!

When I first started all this clomid and stuff no-one told me anything and I just accepted what was going on.
Didn't know ablut follicle size etc. etc. I niavely thought if it was important they'd explain it to me!!

Now I know so much more I am going to ask LOTS of questions!!!
i HAVE THE JAB TO RELEASE THE EGGS (oops sorry!) but they try to give it me on CD12......pretty useless I should think if I don't normally ov until CD18/19...they surely won't be bog enough!

They have said in the past...."Oh they not quite ready...but you've come a long way to get here so we'll do it anyway"!!!!
That's dreadful!!!

Again....not I know.....they'll be no stopping me when I go down next week!!!!

OP posts:
coggy · 19/08/2006 09:35

Sorry BAD typing......

Let me know if you don't get some of it!!!

OP posts:
Natty1806 · 19/08/2006 09:43

To be honest it really does shock me on how little these clinic's know about the big picutre, i mean they know what it say in their books about normal women who ov on day 14 and period comes on day 28 and to be honest if i had not found this web site i would conitue believing them, no wonder they say OPK's and charting is not that necessary - i beg to differ.

For example yesterday when i was at the doctors i could not help but feel i knew more about what clomid was than he did and i do really like me gp but i guess he has lots on other info to store in his brain, whereas i currenly go to sleep thinking about getting pregnant, wake up thinking the same and continuing thinking about things like if i go pregnant now it would be due... i could finish work then.... oh but i would have to do this and that etc etc before then.

I could go on but feel i would bore the pant (knickers LOL) off you.

Just keep telling myself i am enjoying my life at the moment anyway so no rush but really i want a baby now and am now having a Nicki strop. LOL

x

coggy · 19/08/2006 11:33

LOL at your Nicki strop.....I've done it!!!

My gp is a very good friend and I respect him hugely...but he told me catergorically that you ov. around CD14 on a 28 day cycle.

When I showed him otherwise and he chatted to my fertility consult. he was totally amazed that what they are taught isn't actually true!!!!

OP posts:
coggy · 19/08/2006 11:33

He told me that I'd taught him something new....I felt very brainy!!!!
