I do however know of siblings called ... cressida and atticus ..

HonorMatopoeia · 30/07/2006 15:30

I'd probably just get the usual 'Did you name her after a character in Lord of the Rings?' NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO I DIDN'T!!!!!!! However, poor little mite gets called everything apart from her real name anyway so people would probably wonder why on earth we named her Noo Noo!!

Blackduck · 30/07/2006 15:33

I don't shout ds's name down the bacon aisle - I get dp to do it - thou' usually it's not necessary as the pair of them are in the magazine aisle - dp reading about computers and ds scanning Thomas the bl**dy tank engine....

CountessDracula · 30/07/2006 15:37

atticus is cool

atticus of mockingbird is so great that the name transcends riducle IMO

Cressida on the other hand....

SpaceCadet · 30/07/2006 15:38

say Atticus to my son and he'd expect you to take him to our local cafe/wine bar and buy him a juice and cake

CountessDracula · 30/07/2006 15:39

oh and no dd's name not silly though her nickname is Weezle and I do get odd looks shouting that.

It is a risk of using an unusual or silly name that you will end up with some twit in Eastenders called by that name the week after you register it.

Twiglett · 30/07/2006 15:41

I am frantically going through characters in Lord of the Rings to find a somewhat sane name now

Twiglett · 30/07/2006 15:44

ooo is it Boromir?

Blackduck · 30/07/2006 15:45

Its a SHE Twig....

SpaceCadet · 30/07/2006 15:46

arwen?

singersgirl · 30/07/2006 15:46

Maude and Blanche - sounds as if someone had been reading "Persuasion". Though I think Maud in "Persuasion" has the more usual 'e'-less spelling.

Twiglett · 30/07/2006 15:47

oh then not half as much fun

Eowyn or Morwen I reckon .. quite pretty though I'm not totally sure I know how to pronounce the first

SpaceCadet · 30/07/2006 15:48

galadriel???

anorak · 30/07/2006 15:54

Lobelia?

singersgirl · 30/07/2006 15:55

My boys' names aren't that wanky though one is quite unusual and more common among 50 year olds, so people are sometimes surprised to see a small blond thing respond.

MrsJohnCusack · 30/07/2006 16:24

yes my DD's name is utterly twatty
don't care though

can I just say thanks for the laugh wantababyNOW - Gaye Hooker - that is a fabulous name

Blossomhill · 30/07/2006 16:26

I keep seeing the same woman who shouts "merlin". honestly i have to hold myself together.

ediemay · 30/07/2006 16:30

old (elderly) neighbours had a labrador called Tosser. Used to wet myself laughing when they called him in for his food

Tortington · 30/07/2006 16:34

no they would think " what the fuck did she say?"

cos to southerners we always have to say things twice - until we know them a little

SpaceCadet · 30/07/2006 16:41

theres a kid at ds's school called merlin!

noddyholder · 30/07/2006 16:42

ocd · 30/07/2006 16:43
