Tiger

sanctimommy · 30/07/2006 16:53

i wanted tiger for ds1
it woudl haev so suited him

Blandmum · 30/07/2006 16:54

trotted this one out before. A mate once taught a Truly-Scrumtious.

I worked with a Chris Beacock (say it out loud a few times)

A girl called her dd Pochahontus a few weeks before I had dd

Blossomhill · 30/07/2006 18:31

dd has a friend at school called "maureen"

ffs how can you look at your baby and think maureen? i always think of driving school lol Saying that though the name really suits her!

motherinferior · 30/07/2006 18:40

I do concede DP was probably right to talk me out of calling DD1 Delilah.

Twiglett · 30/07/2006 18:41

MB .. was it actually 'scrumtious' or is that your typo

Blandmum · 30/07/2006 18:56

my typo.

She wrote in and complained that the teachers were calling the kid Truly, and she was to be called by her full name.

ffs

Enid · 30/07/2006 18:58

I rarely shout their names (not twattish btw)

its always 'girls! GIRLS!'

Enid · 30/07/2006 18:59

Elinor is from lord of the rings

SlightlyFamiliarPeachyClair · 30/07/2006 19:15

DS1 not at all, ds2 yes some people think it's chav name I think but there you go,people who have heard of his namesake like it; we couldn't think of anything and Dh was keen.... DS3 depends on whether we used full or abbreviation; abbreviated it's a common name, full (as we are trying to remember because there are sevceral with his name at Nursery next year) we get comments about it being an old man's name. Mind you, we met a Jeffrey this week and he was 2.

Names are ds1 Samuel; DS2 Stirling; ds3 Harry / Harold

foxinsocks · 30/07/2006 19:18

this thread has made me think of bacon all day

in ds's football class (of about 15-20) there are 6, yes 6, boys with the same name as him so I have a feeling if I called his name down the bacon aisle, about half the boys would turn around

foxinsocks · 30/07/2006 19:21

I do love the name Jacob but on a visit to the M&S in Chiswick a few years back, a v upper class dad with eton accent was standing in the queue with his 3 boys and he sent the elder one back for croissants as he had forgotten them. When the boy was choosing them (about 4 aisles down from where he was standing) he shouted

'Jacob, Jacoby, Jacoby dahhhhrling, don't choose those ones. You know mummy only likes the all butter ones dahhhhrling' and I had to stifle my guffaw as poor old Jacob looked mortified.

Spagblog · 30/07/2006 19:43

Last week in the park a runaway toddler was being screeched at by his mother - Hoooooolio, Hoooooolio (Julio) where do you fink you are goin' Hoooooolio!

SlightlyFamiliarPeachyClair · 30/07/2006 19:47

Hoolio makes me but then in Chav standards she rates low... not only did she take him to the park (unless she was there to enjoy a white lightening with her mates under the slide), but she also cared he was going off... poor show that

No, I'll say agin- the only name that has made me lately was Jeffrey, although there we re three Ozzy's on the ward when DS3 was born

sanctimommy · 30/07/2006 19:50

this thread has made me think of bacon all day

Xavielli · 30/07/2006 19:52

Well being asthough cod is the authority on these things then yes... people would think that they were twattish names.

puff · 30/07/2006 19:59

Oddest child's name I have ever encountered is Popeye.

snowleopard · 30/07/2006 20:00

If I used his full name, definitely twat ahoy. But we chose it so it could be shortened to something unremarkable, which he is known by so no bacon aisle shame for me.

mycatfatzak · 30/07/2006 20:00

I would so so love to tell you all the name and spelling of a poor girl I teach but there's def one parent from my school comes on here and knowing my luck it'll be her best friend.
Sorry, that's like " I know a secret and I can't tell you"
Oh sod it. Think days of the week, football team, spell it phonetically and you've got it.
And i've changed my name so there
And i'm off on holiday tomorrow so they can't find me.

ocd · 30/07/2006 20:01
