New member alert!!!
My husband and I have just decided to ttc! We are both youngest in our family although both on mid 20s! We want our children to be close to their cousins who range from 2-5! Just hoping our brothers and sisters won't be judgemental as they were all in 30s when they started having children! We have been on nice holidays but feel that a baby is the next step and we are very excited! Just looking for some moral support!!!

I'm in Scotland too! :D

I've got my dates mixed up and since I only ovulated at the weekend AF won't be due for another week or so!! Waiting game I guess!!

Kittyrose1 · 23/11/2013 06:52

Ah! Thank you, well my bug was just that, AF has arrived today!! So no bfp for me this time!

Lots of Scottish ladies here, I live in Essex - land of fake tans and white teeth ;)

EmberElftree · 23/11/2013 08:18

Morning all,

Another ttc#1 here - just waiting out AF so we can get busy on cycle #2 :)

Fx for a xmas BFP for us all - good luck everyone!

Lizzie1985 · 23/11/2013 08:24

Hi all. I hope you don't mind me joining the group. I'm 28, DH is 27 and it's our first month TTC.
I stopped taking the pill about 4-5 weeks ago. We started dtd straight away (I know- probably best to wait for one AF, but was just too impatient) and in the past few weeks was sure I was getting symptoms e.g. cramps, headaches, dry flaky skin, dizziness and a little nausea. However, this morning I took hpt and it was a bfn Sad I know it's silly to be so disappointed cause I don't know when or even if I have ovulated. Is it possible I could still be pregnant?

Don't know if I could do this kind of waiting for 12 months or more- it's so frustrating already!

Lizzie1985 · 23/11/2013 09:29

Scratch that. AF came within 2 hours of taking the test. Don't know whether to feel pleased that it's back and can start properly calculating ovulation etc. or depressed that I'm not pregnant.

ThingsThatGoHumpInTheNight · 23/11/2013 09:55

Hi Lizzie I would just take it as a positive sign of fertility and try not too get too stressed Thanks At least now you can start tracking your cycle to work out the best time to dtd. I am in a very similar position to you and have been usinf ovuview app which is really useful to work out your cycle if you've been on the pill for a while, its free too! Annoyingly my phone died yesterday so I need to try to log back in somehow, not sure the tablet is the best place as it gets passed around to visitors etc....not sure I want my Dad reading about my CM Hmm might have to wait for new phone.

HippyJess · 23/11/2013 10:50

I agree with what GoHumpInTheNight says Lizzie - it's positive, things seem to be working Wink

I've started conducting, um, pillow-propping/hip-tilting experiments to see what works best even though I don't have my coil out yet Blush

KittyVonCatsington · 23/11/2013 11:48

Hello all! Hoping I can join too. Although I am a little older than some of you (32), I have just 'come off the Pill' as my DH (31) and I have decided to start trying to make a baby! We are both the youngest in our families and am a great Auntie to six neices and nephews and feel ready to have one of my own! Very nervous though as I have never 'DTD' for the purpose of making a baby Grin

ThingsThatGoHumpInTheNight · 23/11/2013 11:53

I know what you mean Kitty when we dtd for the first time with no protection I kept thinking how weird it was! It's great not having to remember the pill every day though Grin

KittyVonCatsington · 23/11/2013 12:03

Absolutely, ThingsThatGoBumpInTheNight! I will just have to try and enjoy it Wink. Am loving this site already; so much information and support. Apart from taking Folic Acid, I'm assuming I just let nature take it's course.

ThingsThatGoHumpInTheNight · 23/11/2013 12:13

I think so, I know there are a lot of ladies on here that have issues TTC so I am trying to take that with a pinch of salt and go with the flow for the first 6 months or so, rather than reading too much into it and stressing myself out...which incidentally does not help fertility Grin I am taking boots own brand conception support which includes folic acid and tracking my cycle to try to work out when I have Ov'd. Other than that not too different to normal, I suppose I am more aware of things like alcohol and caffeine intake but I haven't changed my habits dramatically, maybe just one-two glasses of wine rather than three-four Blush and having two cups of tea a day rather than four...I guess I am just thinking about stuff more, and making healthier decisions which I should be making regardless of TTC or not Confused

I know! Such a huge responsibility to make sure that potential new little one has the best start in life! I will have to be so careful not to have that extra glass of fizz during the December festivities...

ReginaFelange22 · 23/11/2013 14:13

That's the awkward part now that it's Christmas time! I'm known to enjoy shots etc so going out and being calm with the drink, just incase, is going to be difficult to go unnoticed!

I'm on folic acid to, also got the strips you wee on, that tell you if the hormone that appears when you ovulate, is in your system. It seemingly was on sat/sun/mon so DTD a bit more lol! It's odd to think there is a purpose other than just some fun lol!!

KittyVonCatsington · 23/11/2013 14:18

also got the strips you wee on. What are those, Regina? How do they work?

Hibou7688 · 23/11/2013 17:25

They sound like ovulation predictors, you can get them on amazon cheap! You just wee on it, like a pregnancy test and if you're near to ovulation then you get two lines!

Lizzie1985 · 23/11/2013 19:02

Aww thanks guys. It's nice to have encouragements. What kind of prenatal supplements are people taking? I'm just on folic acid at the moment- not sure if I should be taking anything with more vitamins in?

Hibou7688 · 23/11/2013 21:22

I'm not taking anything.. I'm going to see how it goes before I take supplements etc..

Honeybear30 · 23/11/2013 22:03

I'm just taking folic acid because it's advised everywhere. From what I understand it doesn't help you conceive but is for healthy development if/when you conceive. The pre pregnancy supplements look quite expensive from what I've seen?

toots123 · 23/11/2013 23:48

Im taking pregnacare conception tablets, they are about half price on amazon!

ReginaFelange22 · 23/11/2013 23:53

Yeh those are the strips. Got them cheap in eBay. They are just called ovulation tests, wee in a cup stick the strip in and it should give you a control line and then a 2nd line if you are ovulating, or possibly!

Lizzie1985 · 24/11/2013 07:29

I've now confused. I thought AF turned up, though it kinda went away after 12 hours or so- very light pinkish bleeding. Is this normal for a first period off the pill? Or (which I'm wishing for!!) could it be a sign of implantation? Confused

toots123 · 24/11/2013 08:38

Still no AF for me either. Not even sure if I've ovulated or not but awaiting my cheap amazon tests to arrive and will poas anyway just to be sure that we are still waiting on af.

Girly weekend away next weekend so if it's bfp I will have a few white lies to tell

KittyVonCatsington · 24/11/2013 09:19

With the ovulation tests, do people use them during their first cycle or is it usually done when people are struggling to conceive? I had a look online but don't know if I am going to be OTT buying them and trying them immediately?

HippyJess · 24/11/2013 09:44

I nicked the many, many OPK sticks my sister had left Grin

They did their first few cycles without but then the 2nd month she used the pee sticks they conceived. I'm 99% sure when I'm ovulating anyway but it should help me feel that extra 1% certain at least!

Hibou7688 · 24/11/2013 10:33

I used them when I first xame off the pill just so I could see when in my cycle I ovulate.. I assumed I'd ovulate 14 days after start of af but they showed me that I ov at around day 7-9 so it's useful just for that when starting out. I'm only on cycle 1 now though so not a seasoned user of them!
