Advice re OPK please-very early smiley face

This is my second month using an OPK (clearblue digital that tells you when you are both high and peak fertility). Last month I didn't get a high fertility sign at all (flashing smiley face), it just went straight to peak fertility (fixed smiley face). This was on day 12 which was a couple of days earlier than expected but still seemed normal.

I only finished my period a couple of days ago but started using the opk straight away as my cycles vary a bit (26-30 days). Today (day 8) I got a high fertlity sign. Surely this is too early?

So, we had sex last night just for fun rather than baby making but now I'm thinking should we do it again tonight as I got the high (but not peak) fertility sign or shall we just start doing it every other day until I get the peak fertility smiley face. I don't want to exhaust DH and his swimmers but don't want to miss the window either.

Eugh another flashing smiley and I'm bleeding??? I used to get this spotting through the month but thought it had all calmed down :( - gutted :(

charleylarlie · 05/07/2013 09:52

Could it be associated with ovulation, Bambi? It's not uncommon, I believe.

Bambi27 · 05/07/2013 13:16

It's quite heavy?? No bloody idea!! Still continuing with ov sticks so we'll see!! Xx

BNmum · 05/07/2013 16:51

Keep testing bambi! i had a mid cycle bleed which I thought was af (so was pretty heavy) and I got my fixed a couple of days later so I think it was either ovulation bleeding or cervical erosion from too much humping. Both of which don't affect your fertility, although it was a passion killer.

It might feel more like fun when the parentals return home charley

I'm feeling like crap today, no pregnancy symptoms, just a bloody cold! It's glorious sunshine outside and I'm snotting and coughing everywhere, great!

How's things with you strawberry?

Bambi27 · 05/07/2013 19:52

Thanks bnmum!!! I will! It seems to have all stopped now so hoping you're right!! Going to keep testing and dtd! Didn't tell hubby until after dtd yesterday!! Oops Wink x

Bambi27 · 05/07/2013 19:53

Sorry you're feeling poorly bnmum!! Xx

BNmum · 06/07/2013 19:10

No worries bambi, how's things with you today?

Bambi27 · 06/07/2013 20:29

Bleeding again :( I hate ttc now!! Definitely going back to docs if no bfp this month! How's u?

BNmum · 07/07/2013 08:33

Yeah, it's a good idea to let the docs know of your mid cycle bleeding especially if its a new development. My bleeds have lasted 3-5 days before, some heavy and some light. I made some changes to my diet in the latter half of this cycle and it seems to have helped.

I'm still feeling rubbish but at least it's taking my mind off the 2ww. Only a couple more days until test day if af doesn't arrive beforehand.

Bambi27 · 07/07/2013 11:16

I have had it checked before (last October) and all was well and went away for a while bit looks to have come back so will keep an eye on it :) anyway....I had a fixed smiley this morning :) yah!!! So dtd straight away with excitement how many days should be continue to dtd for??

charleylarlie · 07/07/2013 14:26

That's great, Bambi! Last month when I got mine we did it three days in a row, but I'm never sure if it's better to dtd every other day to give the sperm a chance to recover? We dtd every other day this month, but had parents visiting so had no choice. I'd def dtd today though if I was you! Wink

Hope you're feeling better soon, BNmum. TTc is so stressful. I'm on 2ww now.

How are you doing, Strawberry? Any news? Did you have any luck with the cheapies?

BNmum · 07/07/2013 15:41

Yay! Great news about the fixed smiley. Like charley we tried 3 days in a row, I had hoped to miss a day then dtd one more time for luck but I can't remember if we managed it.

blueamber · 07/07/2013 16:00

Hope you don't mind me joining the conversation! Bambi, great new about your fixed smiley! Ov usually happens after 12-36 hours after, so if you feel up to it would recommend dtd today and tomorrow? I think it's now considered okay to dtd every day as it won't affect healhy sperm. It doesnt need to recover.

Can I ask you ladies about bleeding mid cycle? Im in my first cycle since stopping the pill, but it's been really long and I had a day of bleeding a few days after ov. Could this be cervical erosion? Should I get it checked out? I've just been worrying about it ever since. Still haven't had any AF yet since stopping either!

BNmum · 07/07/2013 20:08

I'm not 100% sure blue but as its your first cycle off the pill I wouldn't worry about it too much and monitor things over the next couple of weeks. It could have been ovulation bleeding or just that your hormone levels are still out of sync. If it is ovulation bleeding or cervical erosion it doesn't affect your fertility at all.

However, if you're worried about it go to the docs and ask them about it. If it persists they'll want to make sure you have an update smear and do an sti test.

Are you still using OPKs?

Bambi27 · 07/07/2013 20:09

Thanks ladies I dtd this morning and planning on dtd tonight, mon and tues miss wed then again thurs...bleeding permitted!! Seems to have all stopped again now!!

In regards to bleeding I had it bad after injection constantly having little bleeds. I was very naughty and didn't go doctors for months but always caused me worry! Finally went docs and they did an internal examination and bloods, nothing scary! All tests came back clear so yes if bleeding continues I would recommend a visit to docs! Grin X

charleylarlie · 07/07/2013 20:32

Sounds like you're in for a busy few days, Bambi - have fun! Wink

Welcome Blueamber

Bambi27 · 07/07/2013 20:45

Dtd in this weather isn't that much fun but never mind!!! Xx

blueamber · 07/07/2013 21:42

Thanks, I feel less worried now. After much googling, I also read somewhere that after ov your hormonal levels could drop suddenly, which can cause some bleeding especially in longer cycles, so this ties in with what you're saying, bnmum.

And you're right, bambi, it's indeed better to see the gp instead of being worried.

I haven't got my AF yet, it almost been three weeks since I got all the signs of ov. I was thinking of starting opks this week again, just in case ov didn't happen and my body will try again soon. If nothing happens within the next week and a half or so, I'm definitely going to the GP!

It's not that hot up north. It's not often I can be pleased with the weather here Grin

Bambi27 · 07/07/2013 22:54

Glad you feel less worried! I would give it a couple cycles to settle down and see how it goes? Up2 u though!!

Dtd twice today!!! Fixed smiley got us excited!! Xx

3luckystars · 07/07/2013 22:55

I used these "ADVANCED" OPKs this month. I am baffled. I got a flashing smiley for 6 days and on the 6th day it turned to a solid smiley.
However I am temping also and had a thermal shift on the second day of the flashing smiley.
So, in summary: I had a temp rise 4 days before the solid smiley was picked up.
I am very confused, I feel a bit pregnant and we only dtd the day of the first flashing smiley (6 days before LH surge). I am never buying these again. The old ones were easy, smiley or circle. Simple!

Bambi27 · 07/07/2013 23:05

Lucky stars I suppose only af or bfp will explain if you we're right... I'm
Not temping so wouldn't know and only used these tests. 2nd month. 1st no fixed smiley at all just flashing...this is first month if fixed so I'm still excited that something's happening!! Smile

3luckystars · 07/07/2013 23:13

Thanks for the reply, the best of luck this month.
I'd be very interested in seeing someone temping and using these tests.

Bambi27 · 07/07/2013 23:14

Were not we're!!!

Bambi27 · 07/07/2013 23:15

Yes definitely me2!!! Hoping they work!!! Who knows!!! X

BNmum · 08/07/2013 07:08

I'm afraid I'm not temping so can't comment on that either luckystars. When I used a cb normal digital OPK I got a +ve the day after my fixed smiley using the advanced ones, this seemed to correspond with what others have said so I do think that they give advanced warning that ovulation is expected to occur.

Have you used any other OPKs alongside your temping? Did you notice any chances in cm too?
