Advice re OPK please-very early smiley face

This is my second month using an OPK (clearblue digital that tells you when you are both high and peak fertility). Last month I didn't get a high fertility sign at all (flashing smiley face), it just went straight to peak fertility (fixed smiley face). This was on day 12 which was a couple of days earlier than expected but still seemed normal.

I only finished my period a couple of days ago but started using the opk straight away as my cycles vary a bit (26-30 days). Today (day 8) I got a high fertlity sign. Surely this is too early?

So, we had sex last night just for fun rather than baby making but now I'm thinking should we do it again tonight as I got the high (but not peak) fertility sign or shall we just start doing it every other day until I get the peak fertility smiley face. I don't want to exhaust DH and his swimmers but don't want to miss the window either.

Hi ladies, how are you getting on? Any fixed this morning charley? Is it cd7 or 8 for you today?

Any flashing bambi?

How are you strawberry? It's been awhile, has af buggered off yet?

Nothing to report here. Af still not arrived. Have managed to dtd 3 nights off the trot after my +ve OPK on wed. I suppose my (second) 2ww starts now. Fingers crossed!

charleylarlie · 29/06/2013 08:54

Yes, fingers crossed BNmum! Let us know if you get any symptoms.

Hope you get a flashing smiley soon, Bambi. Hope you see a fixed smiley this month.

Yes, how are you doing, Strawberry?

I'm on cd8 and the 4th day of flashing smiley. Had a fixed one on this day last month, so we'll see what happens. I did test a little earlier this morning because DS decided to wake up and started talking to his cuddly toys, but still had a good four and a half hours between pees, so hopefully ok. Managed to get back to sleep afterwards too, so that's a bonus!

Bambi27 · 29/06/2013 09:17

No flashing yet but only on cd 7 so didn't expect to yet! Hoping I get a fixed this month to!! Ah got fingers crossed for you bnmum must be frustrating!! Couldn't imagine 2 2ww back to back :( keep your chin up!!! Xx

charleylarlie · 30/06/2013 06:54

Hmmm, cd8 and day 5 of flashing smiley. The second line seems to be getting thicker though. Hope it hurries up, if it is going to appear as have got my mum and dad visiting from Wednesday and dtd is going to be tricky.

Bambi27 · 30/06/2013 08:45

Day 8 and first day of flashing smiley, earlier than I expected I wonder how many days of it I will have this time!! I hope yours turns solid soon!!!

charleylarlie · 30/06/2013 08:52

Yay, you too! Fingers crossed we both get our peaks! Smile

Bambi27 · 30/06/2013 08:59

Yeah, I'm hoping that I don't now get a whole week of flashing (although I think that will be the case!!!) eugh! X

Bambi27 · 30/06/2013 22:21

Eugh hubby is poorly do no dtd on first flashing smiley! They'll prob last forever anyway!!! X

charleylarlie · 01/07/2013 09:05

Hope your dh feels better soon, Bambi. I'm now on cd 9 and day 6 of flashing smiley. They do seem to go on forever, don't they?

Hoping I ovulate soon though, esp if I have another 25 day cycle. Temp charting hasn't indicated ov yet though and I suppose it's a bit early yet if my cycle is back to normal (29 days) this month.

StrawberryMojito · 01/07/2013 10:42

Hi all, I have myself a little bit of a break from thinking about baby making as it can take over a bit, but I'm back on board now! I spent Friday with 2 pregnant friends as much as I was happy for them, I was a little bit jealous aswell.

I gave up on the CB tests as they cost too much and just bought some Internet cheapie a that I am a bit sceptical about. I'm now on CD 13 which was ov day for me for the past couple of months but it is negative on these OPKs. To be honest though, it doesn't really matter this month as DH is away with work tonight and Wednesday so we dtd last night and can't do it again until Tuesday anyway. I've not got any ewcm either so maybe I'm going to ov later this month.

Hope it's all going well for all of you, let's hope you get your peaks soon Charley and Bambi. Good luck BN with the 2ww, keep us updated with any symptoms!

Sorry, loads of typos in that post, was doing a sneaky iPhone post while at work!

BNmum · 01/07/2013 18:33

Fingers crossed for some fixed smiles soon ladies!

Welcome back strawberry! It's good to have a break from it every now and again as it certainly can take over your life and cause you one big headache from all the overthinking. I wouldn't worry about your hubby being away as they should still be some swimmers around and tues isn't too far away. Hopefully ov will be delayed until he gets back anyway.

Still no af here, no symptoms either but I think it would be way too early for that . I've got a super busy week so hopefully that will take my mind off it all for a few days.

charleylarlie · 02/07/2013 07:14

Welcome back Strawberry. Prob good to have a break from all the ttc stress. Good luck with the cheap opks. I was worried that I never got a positive with them, and was convinced they didn't work, but then got a positive with them last month. I think they're ok once you get used to them, just that the surge doesn't show for as long as the CB ones.

BNmum, it's good that you're busy as I know that for me, symptom spotting is never a good thing as I get carried away. Fingers crossed you get a bfp this month.

Hope your hubby is feeling better, Bambi.

Cd10 for me and have got a fixed smiley - yay!! Am now worried that it was a false one though, as I accidentally held the holder upwards for a second straight after testing. Prob worrying for nothing though, as I suppose the timings fit anyway. Will dtd this evening, all being well! Wink

BNmum · 02/07/2013 11:16

whoop whoop! that's great news charley looks like you will have a busy few days ahead.

How long are your parents staying for? Will you be able to manage a few cheeky ones while they're visiting? It's never easy having house guests when you're at your most fertile, I wish lots of luck!

Have you got a positive yet strawberry?

How's the hubby bambi?

Bambi27 · 02/07/2013 17:46

Sorry not posted for few days been busy looking after hubby! He seems on the mend now...thank god as we're on day 3 of flashing smiley and not dtd yet!! How's everyone??

StrawberryMojito · 02/07/2013 19:32

Not even a hint of a positive on my cheap OPKs yet and I'm doing them at 6am and 5pm. I am starting to see signs of EWCM though so hopefully we'll be dtd for the next couple of days.

Glad your DH is getting better in time for a fixed smiley Bambi, he will need his strength!

Hope 2ww goes quickly for you BN, a busy week is a good one.

Bambi27 · 02/07/2013 19:54

Hope you get a positive soon!! And bnmum definitely hoping your 2ww is a quick one!! Thanks will be jumping on him later!!!

Bambi27 · 02/07/2013 22:02

Just dtd so feeling more on track ready for my fixed smiley Grin fingers crossed!!!

Bambi27 · 03/07/2013 08:14

Cd 11, 4th flashing smiley. Hoping for a fixed fri/sat however by then I will have had 5/6 flashing smiley days (at least) so really not sure how accurate the flashing days are?? Why do they flash so many days before you ovulate? Or am I missing something? Shock

charleylarlie · 03/07/2013 09:15

Fingers crossed, Bambi. Getting lots of flashing smileys seems to be more the norm than the two that they state on the packet. I think it was Strawberry who posted a link to a forum on the first page of this thread, which was v. interesting.

Strawberry, which opks are you using? Only the 'one step' ones that I have say that you need to test between 10am and 8pm - I think it's because the lh surge only appears throughout the day and then goes again. I'm not quite sure how the CB digis do it differently. I haven't had a positive result with the cheap ones yet this month either.

So, day 2 of fixed smiley and have some ewcm! Also, a slight temperature spike. Dtd last night and will try again tomorrow - a bit difficult with parents visiting! Blush At least I won't have to sneak in and out of the bathroom with the stick though! Grin

Hope the 2ww is going quickly, BNmum.

StrawberryMojito · 03/07/2013 13:13

They are the One Step ones and I didn't know that Charley, I can't believe I didn't read the instructions properly! I've only tested during those times about 3 times. Duh.

We haven't had a great month for baby making anyway. I have no idea when or if I ovulated. During my predicted fertile window, we did it once on Sunday and were supposed to do it yesterday evening but then we both fell asleep early. I woke up in the early hours thinking "oh shit, we haven't had sex" but DH was snoring. Fortunately, DS woke at 3.30am and once we'd settled him, we managed a very sleepy quicky. I'm sure that happened last month aswell.

So basically we've only done it a maximum of 2 times at a useful time so I'm not holding out much hope for this month, especially as DH is away for work again tonight so no chance of a bonus dtd.

The CB ones are expensive but I did like how I felt very sure of where I was in my cycle. It's all blind guesswork without them.
Bambi, I think the flashing smileys indicate the rise in oestrogen you get as ov approaches, then fixed smileys indicate LH surge. After ov, progesterone starts rising which is what causes pmt and some preg symptoms. I am not definite about this though.

Hi ladies!
I'm please you've all managed to dtd lately (even if it was at 3.30am!).
Have you had a fixed yet bambi?

We've had numerous house guests over the last week so things have really slowed down for us. I've actually been thankful for the break as this cycle has been so long I'm exhausted from all the bding. DH has really suffered though, I hope he doesn't think it's always going to be like this!!

No symptoms of any kind for me, either pregnancy or af. Roll on this time next week when I can test!

Bambi27 · 04/07/2013 21:25

Nope :( day 12 and fifth flashing smiley!! Hope it comes soon!!! I bet your other half is loving it bnmum!!

Bambi27 · 04/07/2013 22:29

Dtd again tonight even tho husband is still pretty poorly!! Hard work this month!! How's everyone getting on?

charleylarlie · 05/07/2013 07:16

Hope you see a peak soon, Bambi - it all counts, as the tests aren't always accurate anyway.

I think my dp feels the same as yours, BNmum. We dtd last night, but I don't think it was much fun for either of us as we were trying to be quiet. Having parents visit is def a passion killer!

You never know, Strawberry - you might just get lucky. If you managed to dtd in the week leading up to ov, there's always a chance!

I am on day 14 now, and we're going to give up bd-ing for the month now, I think. Will let you know if I get any obvious symptoms, but am trying to keep my wits about me this month. I expect I'll get carried away with wishful thinking though, as per usual.
