Advice re OPK please-very early smiley face

StrawberryMojito · 02/06/2013 09:49

This is my second month using an OPK (clearblue digital that tells you when you are both high and peak fertility). Last month I didn't get a high fertility sign at all (flashing smiley face), it just went straight to peak fertility (fixed smiley face). This was on day 12 which was a couple of days earlier than expected but still seemed normal.

I only finished my period a couple of days ago but started using the opk straight away as my cycles vary a bit (26-30 days). Today (day 8) I got a high fertlity sign. Surely this is too early?

So, we had sex last night just for fun rather than baby making but now I'm thinking should we do it again tonight as I got the high (but not peak) fertility sign or shall we just start doing it every other day until I get the peak fertility smiley face. I don't want to exhaust DH and his swimmers but don't want to miss the window either.

Hi business, sounds like you are as regular as clockwork which will make it easier for you planning your next IUI.

Is it something you feel you could do on your own or would you prefer to have support there?

Ms = morning sickness

charleylarlie · 10/08/2013 10:23

Hope AF turns up soon, Charlie. When can you see your consultant next?

Yes, great that you have a regular cycle, Business. Will make timing your appointments so much easier.

How are you feeling, BNmum? I can't remember ms getting worse before it stopped (though it might have done), but I do remember that it stopped very suddenly - one day I had it and the next I was fine. It definitely didn't stop gradually though, so you never know!

How are you, Strawberry? Was it definitely AF? Feeling like AF is coming can be a symptom too! At least that is what I was telling myself anyway. I've been feeling crampy since yesterday and cd26 today - would normally have got AF by now, but I ov'ed a couple of days later this month so not sure when it's due (I'm expecting it any time).

I keep going to check if AF's arrived as have that horrible sicky feeling in my stomach, but nothing yet. It's on it's way though, am sure of it. POASed this morning and got BFN with internet cheapy (not fmu though). Will keep an eye on it, but not feeling hopeful for this month.

How is everybody else?

businessadmin · 10/08/2013 11:58

Ok Ty BNmum x

BNmum · 10/08/2013 13:15

Fingers crossed that af stays away and you get your BFP soon charley. I certainly had pre-menstrual symptoms and had horrific mood swings before I found out I was pregnant.

I managed to have 10hrs sleep last night after going to bed really early and I've found it has helped the nausea a little today. My scan said I was 8/9weeks so think I will have to put up with the ms a little longer.

blueamber · 10/08/2013 15:12

Bnmum, 8-9 weeks, wow that's great! So does that match up with when you got your last fixed smiley?

Charley hope AF stays away.

My AF has now come to an end. Yay! It was heavier than I'm used to. I am now hoping I will ov next week. I'm trying not to get myself stressed, but I keep worrying I have pcos. My spots were quite bad this week, but I did have my AF, but then again the reason I went on the pill all those years ago was because I had bad acne so that might mean I have too much testosterone. However, I'm going to try to stay positive and say that ov will arrive nicely on time next week, then I will have the perfect lp length and then this will be my month! Couldn't help but calculate due date using my last period, and it came out with the birthday of my oh. It must be a sign! even though I don't believe in signs

Tea1Sugar · 10/08/2013 15:23

Hi all only got 5mins Internet as am still on holiday and it costs ridiculously. Af is due tomorrow, bfn today on a superdrug test. Haven't got any left so either Af will arrive tomorrow which I'm very sure will or will retest when back on Tuesday. How is everyone?

Charliezzzz · 10/08/2013 15:32

Yay!!! Never have I been soo pleased to get AF!! Grin

I tried the high dose of vitamin C yesterday, so maybe coincidence but af arrives today. Finally get to start Clomid tomorrow Smile

How is everyone? Enjoying the weekend?

blueamber · 10/08/2013 21:38

Charlie, yay! Hope the clomid will kick in fast Smile

Bambi27 · 10/08/2013 22:07

Yah charliezzzz!! My cousin got pg of clomid in first month twice so fingers crossed!!!

Bnmum glad scan went well!! Will they give you another one at 12 weeks now?? Hope ms goes away soon!!

Business I'm glad that you're regular and have a good shot of it next month!!!

Charley hope af stays away!!! And you tea!! A few more bfps would be lovely!!!

Glad af has come to an end blue...hoping for a positive month for you!

How's things with you strawberry??hope u haven't missed anyone!!!

I'm doing okay,dh and I are still working through things and feeling positive. Still not taking about baby making which has been nice but Dtd cd 15, 13, 11 and 9 so far so still in with a chance :) even though not using opks. Xxx

StrawberryMojito · 11/08/2013 07:21

Hi everyone. I bet you're glad that you know how far along you are now BN and you have an actual due date, how exciting!
Good luck for next month Business.
Charliez, hope all goes well with the Clomid. Has it been a long road for you to get it prescribed?
Charley and Tea, fingers crossed AF stays away.
Bambi it's great that you are sounding much happier and you have been able to dtd so much. You are definitely in with a chance.
Blue, I need some of your positivity I think. I have found this cycle really emotionally draining. My AF arrived yesterday (10 dpo still too short lp) whilst I was at a birthday party for a 2 year old and I was the only woman there who wasn't pregnant or hadn't recently (within the last week) given birth. The timing of my AF was awful even though I was expecting it. I'm really embarrassed to admit I had a little cry in the bathroom. I think what makes it worse is that I don't know how to improve my chances if my lp is too short.

Anyway, all we can do is keep trying so that's what we'll do. Bring on a May baby!

BNmum · 11/08/2013 08:22

Hi ladies,
First of all, huge virtual hug and massive g&t (or whatever your tipple is) strawberry. That must have been really tough on you, there's no shame in crying! I'm sure between us we can come up with some suggestions to try and lengthen lp, a few of us have looked into this at some point.

I'm pleased af has come to an end blue, will you use the advanced opks again this month? I have also suffer from bad skin which unfortunately gets worse during pregnancy! Why do you suspect PCOS, has the doctor suggested tests?

I hope you're having a lovely holiday tea and af stays away.

Great news Charlie, do you take it in tablet form? I hope it gets into your system asap and you have a successful month.

You do sound happier Bambi and it looks like your dh must be happier too if you are managing every other day which is great.

I hope af hasn't turned up charley and I hope you are enjoying your weekend business

My dates tie in my last fixed smiley so I obviously think the adv opks were great in my case. I've got to go back in a couple of weeks for another scan. We saw the heart beat which was great but it was too small (2cm) to see much else. I will have a better idea of dd then too.

Crikey, this turned into a super-long post Blush

charleylarlie · 11/08/2013 08:57

Feeling Sad as AF arrived yesterday afternoon. DP's mum had just arrived as well so had to hide away to cry and then act normal. Can really sympathise with you Strawberry. It's awful I was so convinced this was our month and I can also join you with a 10 day luteal phase. Getting a bit fed up of all of this as it now means that there will be at least a 3 year gap between DS and another one. This will be out 6th month of trying so if no bfp next month, will be going to the drs to get put on the waiting list for tests.

Have bought some pre-seed out of desperation, and ordered another book, 'The Impatient Woman's Guide to Getting Pregnant'. Not sure what else it can tell me, but it might make me feel better. Bit annoyed also as the CB digi sticks have gone upto thirty odd quid on Amazon. Have only got 3 left so not enough. May have to give them a miss this month.

Good luck for this month Charlie!

Sounds like you've got a good chance Bambi!

Hope AF stays away, Tea.

How are you, Business?

Fingers crossed for ov, Blue

So dates tie in with opk, that's encouraging, BNmum. Great that you little your little bean's heartbeat.

Right, must get myself positive for next month! Smile

charleylarlie · 11/08/2013 08:59

*Great that you SAW your little bean's heartbeat. Doh!

blueamber · 11/08/2013 11:15

Bnmum, must have been so nice to see the heartbeat! I'm just worrying about pcos. I can't remember if my periods were regular before going on the pill, but the fact ov took so long to happen after stopping the pill, and the acne that might be caused by testosterone, just makes me think the worst. But I'll just give it a month and if nothing has happened by then I'll be off to the doc.

Charley,I'm sorry AF arrived. The book you got I think it's the best one there is, as it's based on lots of research. However, it's aimed at women with regular cycles, so I felt a bit left out reading it. I can't believe the clearblue sticks have gone up in price! I guess they have become more popular. I should have enough left for this month and hopefully the price will come down again.

Strawberry, it must have been a difficult situation with all those pregnant women around you. I find it hard not to feel jealous whenever I see a pregnant woman. I'm not usually a positive person, but I'm doing anything I can to not start feeling down.

I have started taking some b6 to lengthen the lp. I am starting with 50 mg a day, but some take 100. I got it from holland and Barrett who have their penny sale on now and they weren't expensive anyway. I was already taking b12, but I read somewhere when you take b6 it's best to balance it with taking some more b12 as well.

Charliezzzz · 11/08/2013 20:24

Just a quick one, haven't got time to write a whole post now, strawbs and charley I'm sure I have read luteal phase must be at least 10 days, so you should both be able to get a bfp still if that's your cycle

businessadmin · 11/08/2013 23:18

Ty BNmum & Charley

Im ok,weekend been ok too.

Im the same blue wen i see people pushing newborns in prams etc,
i swore i wasnt goin to ave no more after DS coz il keep wanting anova afta anova,
but hes getting older now and i see people and family aving babies and im getting broody.
My cousin was 21, wen she had her 1st baby boy, then this year she ad her Daughter, shes 23.

I was 24 wen i ad my Ds, now im 31, i want anova.

StrawberryMojito · 12/08/2013 06:07

Hi, just a quickie. Blue, I just wanted to say that I took B6 this cycle (also the B-50 complex from H and B), I found that it delayed ovulation for me by several days so I stopped taking it and I ovulated a few days later, think it was CD 18 in the end. I then took it again for a few days post ovulation and I found that it didn't really lengthen lp (although I wouldn't expect amazing results first cycle) but my period has been a bit peculiar, very scant and spotty to start with and taking a couple of days to get into full flow. I'm not saying don't take it, just be aware that it may disrupt your cycle a bit. Google B6 and delayed ovulation.

Tea1Sugar · 13/08/2013 15:40

Charliezzzz · 13/08/2013 16:04

Wow congrats tea, that's great news, so pleased for you. Any tips or things you did different this month?

blueamber · 13/08/2013 16:54

Congrats tea!

Tea1Sugar · 13/08/2013 17:05

Thanks, just confirmed on the cb bad badboy digi and it says 1-2 weeks. I don't know tbh Charlie, only dtd three times but did use pre seed and Trying for a Baby vits

charleylarlie · 13/08/2013 19:56

Yay, brilliant news, Tea! Bet that's just topped your holiday!

No news here, cd4, haven't started temping yet (just couldn't face the early wakening) or using the opks (not sure if I can afford them this month). My book has arrived though and my pre-seed so game on for this month! Will start temping over the next couple of days I think and will monitor my luteal phase.

Hope everybody else is doing okay?

StrawberryMojito · 13/08/2013 20:17

That's great news tea, congratulations! An April baby, lovely.

Right, now I'm off to Amazon to buy some Preseed...
