Advice re OPK please-very early smiley face

StrawberryMojito · 02/06/2013 09:49

This is my second month using an OPK (clearblue digital that tells you when you are both high and peak fertility). Last month I didn't get a high fertility sign at all (flashing smiley face), it just went straight to peak fertility (fixed smiley face). This was on day 12 which was a couple of days earlier than expected but still seemed normal.

I only finished my period a couple of days ago but started using the opk straight away as my cycles vary a bit (26-30 days). Today (day 8) I got a high fertlity sign. Surely this is too early?

So, we had sex last night just for fun rather than baby making but now I'm thinking should we do it again tonight as I got the high (but not peak) fertility sign or shall we just start doing it every other day until I get the peak fertility smiley face. I don't want to exhaust DH and his swimmers but don't want to miss the window either.

Have a lovely time tea and I hope af stays away!

Charliezzzz · 04/08/2013 23:52

Hi everyone, hope u don't mind me joining, I'm new to the site but have read all your posts and found them very interesting and reassuring. My dp and I have been ttc for 5 years on and off (I was diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis and was very unwell at times). I finally realised that perhaps my irregular periods were not down to me being unwell and was diagnosed with PCO. All other tests were clear and have been given Clomid. I'm waiting to get my period now so I can start and will be using OPK to identify ovulation as I have no idea when this would be for me.

BNmum · 05/08/2013 07:31

Welcome to the thread charlie, I hope af turns up soon so you can start the clomid and OPKs. How regular/irregular are you, are you expecting a long wait?

Has everyone had a good weekend?

Charliezzzz · 05/08/2013 08:44

Hi BNmum my cycles range from 22 to bout 80 days!! I'm on day 30 today, had all the signs of af coming but still nothing. Think cos not ovulating don't always get af Confused?! Tried parsley tea yesterday to see if that will help, hate all the waiting around. Massive congrats on your bfp, how are you feeling now?

charleylarlie · 05/08/2013 09:28

Hi Charlie & welcome! Hope AF comes soon so you can start to monitor your cycles. Keep us posted. X

No news here, BNmum. No symptoms. Am 6/7 dpo now so am on the lookout now. Going home tomorrow, but had a lovely few days away. Looking forward to a spot of child-free shopping today, which will be fab. Smile

blueamber · 05/08/2013 12:08

Hope everyone's doing ok!

I had a temp dip this morning and then found some blood... so I'm not hopeful. I'm only 8dpo. I was so happy that I ovulated but now my LP seems way too short... I'm feeling very despondent.

StrawberryMojito · 05/08/2013 12:40

Hi all, and welcome to Charliez.

Blue...isn't that good news?!! The way I understood temping was that your temp dipped around implantation but then started to rise again over next few days if preggo. So a drop followed by some spotting is good I think? Either way keep temping over next few days, don't get too down hearted.

I have nothing to report really, we had a lovely weekend away, didn't really think much about babies. DS was on good form and got loads of quality time with DHs family who he only sees once every 2-3 months. He spent most of the time trying to play with their dogs...the dogs were good with him but probably happy to see him leave!

I'm 5dpo now and really hoping that lp lasts longer than 10 days.

BNmum · 05/08/2013 15:11

Does parsley tea help regulate or bring on af? I've never heard of it before charlie. I totally sympathise though as my cycle range from 31-70+ days.

I'm still feeling rough, I have my booking appointment later in the week and just had a letter for my dating scan Shock.

Child-free shopping sounds lovely charley, are you going to treat yourself to something nice? Not long to go until test time, I hope it goes quickly for you.

I don't know anything about the temp side of things but I'm with strawb and think a bit if blood may be a sign of implantation blue. Don't get too down, you don't now what you're dealing with yet, it could be a BFP!

Sounds like you've had a lovely weekend strawb, fingers crossed you get your longer lp.

Bambi27 · 05/08/2013 21:11

Hey everyone, blue I also am completely dumb when it comes to temping so no idea!!! Sorry but I wouldn't lose hope as you haven't been temping long (as far as I can remember) so you don't know your body yet so doesn't mean your out!!!

Charley I am very jealous of child free shopping!!! Lucky you I hope you get some lovely bits!!! And I'm glad you've had a lovely time!!

Tea I hope you have a lovely time and return with both boxes of tampons intact!!! :)

Glad you had fun strawberry and wasn't stressing about ttc!! Maybe because of that this will be your month Grin

Bnmum sorry you're still feeling rubbish keep those fingers crossed for relief at the 12 week mark! So exciting you have a date for your scan!!!

Welcome to the free Charlie! Fingers crossed you af hurries up!!

As for me I'm still not going to opk this month but we have been Dtd. So who knows :) this would be my fertile week so will aim to dtd every other day but only if mood takes us!! xxx

businessadmin · 05/08/2013 23:40

Hi BNmum & Charley, hows you guys.

Been to flamingoland on Saturday, ad a gud time Smile x

I Havent been to see Dr for my follow up consultation yet.

Im on CD11 today so probably wait till CD 15/16 to test with OPK. x

Charliezzzz · 05/08/2013 23:41

Hi Charley glad you have enjoyed your break. It's nice to get some time to de-stress.

Blue I also think that could be implantation bleed, so fingers crossed for you.

Strawb sounds like you had a lovely time, I'm feeling the need for a holiday myself now!

Read bout parsley tea as a way to induce af BNmum apparently it contains a chemical that is very similar to oestrogen which can trick body into af. Also trying pineapple juice. I'm desperate to start so anything is worth a try lol. Ooh a scan date is very exciting Grin

Bambi best of luck for this week, do you think by not doing OPK this month you will be more relaxed? I can already tell I might get a bit obsessed about them, but as my cycles can vary so much I wouldnt know without them when ovulating Confused

BNmum · 06/08/2013 07:18

Morning ladies, to be honest I feel like a fraud going to my dating scan as I feel I'm way too early but that's because of the way they date you on a 28day cycle. If you have a long cycle like me it totally screws up your dates and EDD. They say the only way to date properly with my cycle is to have a scan so I'll go and see what they say, I only hope they can see something and it's not too early!

Flamingoland sounds fun business, I remember going a long time ago as a kid. Were you hoping to do IUI again this cycle? Your cycle seems to coincide close with the weekend again cd15 = Friday, will this cause you any problems?

Fingers crossed for lots of bding this week bambi, does your DH seem more relaxed about things?

You learn something new everyday charlie! I hope it works for you.

blueamber · 06/08/2013 08:58

Nope, it's definitely AF. The end of a very long cycle (100-something days). Hopefully now my body has done the hard reset my cycle will go back to normal.

BNmum, wonder what the dating scan will say, very exciting!

Charlie, hope you get your AF soon, Never knew about parsley tea!

Bambi, hope you have a good week!

BNmum · 06/08/2013 13:29

100+ days blue!

I hope this resets your cycle, af has been very cruel to leave you dangling for so long. You can stick the Vs in her face next cycle when you get your BFP!

Here's to some fruitful cycles and some BFPs from everyone, I'm getting lonely over here in the sicky corner!

blueamber · 06/08/2013 13:53

On one hand it's a relief to have my AF after such a long time, I just wish it hadn't been only 8-9 days after ovulation! But I'm positive it's going to be better next cycle. Hopefully I'll be able to join you then BNmum! Oh wait, the sicky corner is not an easy place either... oh the things we go through as women.

businessadmin · 06/08/2013 15:06

Hi BNmum No i cant do do IUI again this cycle, because I Havent been to see Dr for my follow up consultation yet.

Bambi27 · 06/08/2013 22:11

Charliezzz I'm not sure i suppose it is for dh...so far we've Dtd cd 9 and 11 (today is 11) so hoping to continue to Dtd every day for next week or so so hopefully catch ov! So no doesn't take pressure of me but dh has no idea! Must just think I have the horn!! Smile

Bnmum I wouldn't worry about scan you'll just get to see your bean a bit early!! Hoping some of us join you in sicky corner soon!!!

Blue I really hope you're right about cycle resetting itself!! Worked for Bnmum!!!

Hi business sorry you don't get to have a try this month! Just try to relax and enjoy the month!!

Xxx

charleylarlie · 07/08/2013 20:55

Back home now after a lovely few days away. How is everybody doing?

Prob a good job that dh is none the wiser, Bambi. Takes the pressure off a bit.

Sorry you got AF, Blue, but good that you can start again now. I'm sure this month will be better!

Hope AF stays away for you, Strawb.

Sorry you haven't been able to see the consultant this month Business. Hope it works out for you next month.

How are you, Charlie?

Hope Tea is having a lovely holiday.

How are you feeling, BNmum? Hopefully one of us will join you in the sicky corner soon (although I can't say I'm looking forward to that part of pg!)

I hope I haven't missed anybody off the list!

I think I'm about 8 or 9 dpo now. No symptoms, although I have been a bit tired. Though I'm prob still adjusting to being back home and having a busy few days (toddler-free shopping was bliss, BNmum!) No idea when AF/BFP due, as I seemed to ov later this month. Could be anytime from Sat to Tues, I reckon. Will try not to poas, but we'll see. Confused

Charliezzzz · 07/08/2013 23:53

Hi Charley I'm a bit down today tbh. Still no af but had symptoms now for 2 weeks, sore boobs, spots etc. I feel like it's never going to come. I saw GP today hoping to get Provera to induce period, but she said she can't (won't) prescribe it and to speak to my consultant. Maybe I'm just being impatient and should wait and see if af comes naturally... Just not sure how long I may end up waiting! Fingers crossed for you that this is your month.
Hope everyone is having a good week Smile

StrawberryMojito · 08/08/2013 07:10

AF is on way, I can tell, I've got the usual cramps. I am only 8dpo. Sad

OP posts:
BNmum · 08/08/2013 08:55

Morning ladies, welcome back charley! I hope af stays away and you get to POAS soon and I hope your af turns up really soon charlie. Did the docs say how long thy would wait before prescribing the provera?

Have you got a date for your consultation business, i hope you don't have to wait too long and you can try IUI again next cycle.

Hope you are having a shagtastic week bambi and DH is enjoying ttc.

I hope af stays away strawbs

How's things wih you blue?

I had a rotten day yesterday, my worst yet, I couldn't shake the nausea at all. I went to bed early and I'm feeling marginally better today but still pretty dreadful. Does ms get worse before it gets better (clinging on to a tiny glimmer if hope)?

businessadmin · 08/08/2013 16:37

Ty Charley & BNmum x

I avent got a consultation date yet. I dont know if to wait until my son goes bk to skool or go now while hes off. If i wait till he goes bk, it will make it late for my next cycle. Smile

Charliezzzz · 08/08/2013 17:09

Strawbs sorry to hear that, are you sure it's af?

Gosh BNmum sounds like your having a rotten time! My sis had really bad ms too, she could barley do anything for first three months but then it did clear. It's meant to be a good sign of a healthy pregnancy (trying to see the positive side lol)
My consultant said clomid works better if its a natural period therefore didn't want to give Provera when I had my appointment. However she said if cycle is very long then guess I could take it. I'm sure loads of women have used it before taking clomid?! Confused

Hope you can get appointment soon as business so you can give it another try.

BNmum · 08/08/2013 20:06

Would you be able to get childcare for you DS business? if so I'd get it booked up ASAP (but I'm pretty impatient). You never know how long you have to wait for these things or what the advice may be. If you can't get childcare, I'd be tempted to leave it until he's back at school. It's a tough one.

I suppose if its going to improve your chances while taking the clomid, it's worth holding out a little longer charlie, are you still on the parsley tea? I hope you don't have to wait to long.

I had my booking appointment today and the midwife said that my bad ms was a sure sign I was having a girl (so it's bound ti be a boy! Grin). She said my last cycle was so complex it was too difficult to estimate due date but likely to be 11/03/14. She didn't put that down on my records though and said it was best to wait until I've had my scan so the wait continues....

businessadmin · 09/08/2013 22:54

Ty Charlie & *BNmum#

Im on CD15 now, i ad a line on a CB & Asda own brand ovulation test. x

I normally ave my mam come with me, and my sister works, but if my mam minds him, id ave to go on my own, coz they dont really like kids to go there, but i know wat hes like, he'll want to come, so she'll ave to take him around the shops.

Im a impatient person too BNmum . x
