Advice re OPK please-very early smiley face

StrawberryMojito · 02/06/2013 09:49

This is my second month using an OPK (clearblue digital that tells you when you are both high and peak fertility). Last month I didn't get a high fertility sign at all (flashing smiley face), it just went straight to peak fertility (fixed smiley face). This was on day 12 which was a couple of days earlier than expected but still seemed normal.

I only finished my period a couple of days ago but started using the opk straight away as my cycles vary a bit (26-30 days). Today (day 8) I got a high fertlity sign. Surely this is too early?

So, we had sex last night just for fun rather than baby making but now I'm thinking should we do it again tonight as I got the high (but not peak) fertility sign or shall we just start doing it every other day until I get the peak fertility smiley face. I don't want to exhaust DH and his swimmers but don't want to miss the window either.

Congrats Tea x

Ive got my follow up consultation appointment next thursday x

charleylarlie · 14/08/2013 07:14

That's good news, Business. Does that mean that you will be in with a chance this month, or will you have to wait until next month now? X

Tea1Sugar · 14/08/2013 09:07

Good luck business - do you know what it will entail?

Charley - Fingers crossed for you! Btw, preseed is way too slippery if you use the recommended amount!

BnMum - how you feeling?

Strawbs - according to fertility friend, a 10 day lp is still considered normal. I really hope this is your month.

Well after a very sleepless night in a state of bfp surrealism, dp has shocked me by saying he doesn't know if he's ready Sad. I'm devastated. We're going to the gp this afternoon together for what I thought was to get the pregnancy admin ball rolling, but for him he wants to discuss our "options". This is so out of the blue, he's been so excited recently. But last night he says he's not ready. Practicalities: I'm 25, he's 32, I have one dd 3.3 from a previous relationship who dp is in everyway Dad to her. We've been together 19months, lived together for 8 months, own our home, both got good jobs. I just don't get it.

Bambi27 · 14/08/2013 11:09

Tea I'm sorry and I know this probably isn't helpful but how could he be so selfish to you?? Obviously he's known you've been trying what a stupid thing for him to have not said to you until now?? You must be devastated! Hopefully it's just a bit of a shock for him??!! What are you thinking of for next steps. Confused And Thanks really feeling for you xxx

blueamber · 14/08/2013 11:43

Tea, I'm so sorry. Hopefully he's just shocked, it's his first and maybe he thought it would take longer to conceive? He might start to feel better about it when he has had some time to adapt to the idea. I hope he realises that he will come to regret the other option.

I can imagine what a life changing event it is, but he should work out and challenge his doubts instead of giving into his fear. Hope it works out for you.

Tea1Sugar · 14/08/2013 12:26

I think he's in shock it happened so quickly tbh. We only arrived back from holiday yesterday so it did come as a big shock to do the test. We'll
See...

StrawberryMojito · 14/08/2013 15:40

Tea, I think he's probably just a bit overwhelmed by it. I remember my DH being initially really excited when I first got pregnant with DS, he then went really quiet about it for a day or so, didn't really want to talk about it so I didn't force the issue. Then I think he had chance to let it sink in and then he was back to normal again. I hope that your dp is just having a similar reaction.

I'm so sorry that he is putting you through this though, it is horrible on his part to agree to try for a baby and then try and suggest you think about terminating when you are successful. That would be incredibly painful. Just don't let yourself be bullied into anything. I do think he will be fine in a day or so though x

Exactly that strawberry. I went to the gp this avo and he scooped me up saying he'd been a prat (right there!) and was overcome with shock. Arse. He's cooking tonight whatever I blooming want!

blueamber · 14/08/2013 17:47

Tea, what a relief! Smile

Bambi27 · 14/08/2013 18:05

Oh fab tea great news!!! Xx

StrawberryMojito · 14/08/2013 20:36

Good. He has been an arse (so I hope he cooks you a bloody amazing tea) but impending first time parenthood is frightening and I think some people just have a little panic about it. Onwards and upwards...

That's good you're feeling better strawb. I'm feeling quite good too. I stopped the b6 for now. Last thing I want is delay ovulation! I'll see what the lp will be like this cycle. Im on cd11 now and noticed a bit of ewcm, so I'm hopeful ov wont be too long!

VJONES1985 · 14/08/2013 22:37

I had a bit of ewcm, followed by nothing :( But your cycle is more established than mine, blueamber, so I am sure ov is on its way :)

blueamber · 14/08/2013 22:46

Vjones it's normal to get ewcm for five days or so before ov, but as you get older it gets less.

Im only on my second cycle since stopping. In my first cycle i didnt get ewcm for ages, then when i got it it lasted two weeks before getting ov! That cycle was over 100 days. But most women get their cycles back quicker, so try not to worry. The fact that you already got ewcm is good!

Tea1Sugar · 15/08/2013 06:01

Strawbs and blue I'm really wishing you loads of luck for this cycle. Dd is a May baby, it's a great month Smile

charleylarlie · 15/08/2013 13:51

Glad DP has snapped out of it, Tea. Hope he cooked you a really nice dinner!

I'm going to have to relax a little about ttc as DP has just been offered a new job which means moving house asap. It's a move that I've wanted for a long time, to be nearer my parents, so am really happy but we now need to find a decent house in a reasonable town to part exchange and it could take a good few weeks. We're just going to have to dtd whenever we can in the right time, as we're potentially going to have to bunk at my mum and dad's. Still, maybe relaxing over it will be a good thing.

DS is a May baby too.

I'm not entirely convinced by the vit B6 either, Blue and Strawb so have decided not to try it. Glad you're feeling better, Strawb. We're all here to support each other so never really alone.

Welcome VJones! Nice to have you along.

How's everybody else? Are you feeling any better, BNmum?

kabgab39 · 15/08/2013 16:07

Hello....new to this thread, hope it's okay if I join in? I also am on the "flashing smiley" of CB Advanced roller coaster...bit frustrating as today is my CD25 & the 6th day of that flashing face on a stick. I've been irregular since the birth of our first daughter in late 2012, so I'm not certain when or if I've been O'ing regularly or not...This is our 10th month of TTC # 2, to no avail. I'm now seeing a fertility Dr. due to the cycle irregularity (combined with my age, just want to be safe & hopefully not take too much longer trying)...Getting blood drawn today at the Lab to see if I've O'd this cycle (doubtful, but will be interested to see, given this ongoing CB Flashing Smile business). Anyway, best of luck to you all :)

businessadmin · 15/08/2013 18:50

Ty Charley x Im not sure yet, but i think i will miss september cycle .

Tea hopefully try IUI again x

Kabgab ive stopped using CB advanced, cos it gave me a miss-reading wen done my IUI in july, im just using Asda own brand x

kabgab · 15/08/2013 19:02

Hi Businessadmin - Thanks...I'm going to stop using CD Advanced too. My Dr said they don't recommend the "smiley tests" because they are ambiguous and costly (and also his office doesn't like the concept of OPK testing using the FMU, which is what CB Advanced wants us to use..) so I will be using the non-digitals going forward, and OPK testing in the afternoons. Good luck with your IUI...I'm on Femara now but I think IUI will be my next step (after a couple cycles of Ovidrel triggers). ..unless I get lucky of course (here's to hope).

Tea1Sugar · 15/08/2013 19:49

Businessadmin - what is iui and why should I try it again?! Blush

blueamber · 15/08/2013 20:49

I like the cb advanced one and think they're very accurate. It works in a smarter way than the others so you can use fmu. Its a lot easier But they are expensive.

Also they should let you know you can get more than two days of flashing smileys, which would have been important to know in your case, business.

businessadmin · 15/08/2013 21:40

Kabgab I got a flashing smiley, which made me over excited and got my IUI done to early, esp wen it not cheap, i made a big mistake, I wasnt getting a accurate reading with first morning urine as soon has i used next urine, i got a accurate reading with Asda own brand.

Tea I meant me tryin IUI again x

True Blueamber x

kabgab · 15/08/2013 23:41

Blueamber.. I'm happy to hear that you have good experience with the CB Advanced (this is my first cycle using the brand) and it's just a bit jarring to have 6 flashers in a row and to be on CD25...but I suppose unless I have a previous cycle using CB Advanced to compare to, then I cannot yet determine how I feel about them. I've seen reviews of both good and bad with this product. I do have a couple sticks left & will hope for the "solid" smile in the morning... I also get my blood work results tomorrow so it should be interesting to see how they both compare I guess.

kabgab · 15/08/2013 23:44

Businessadmin yes, I can see how that would turn you off to the product. IUI is all about timing.
