Advice re OPK please-very early smiley face

StrawberryMojito · 02/06/2013 09:49

This is my second month using an OPK (clearblue digital that tells you when you are both high and peak fertility). Last month I didn't get a high fertility sign at all (flashing smiley face), it just went straight to peak fertility (fixed smiley face). This was on day 12 which was a couple of days earlier than expected but still seemed normal.

I only finished my period a couple of days ago but started using the opk straight away as my cycles vary a bit (26-30 days). Today (day 8) I got a high fertlity sign. Surely this is too early?

So, we had sex last night just for fun rather than baby making but now I'm thinking should we do it again tonight as I got the high (but not peak) fertility sign or shall we just start doing it every other day until I get the peak fertility smiley face. I don't want to exhaust DH and his swimmers but don't want to miss the window either.

Business - hope the consultation goes well.

Charlie - hope the 2ww doesn't drag too much, fingers crossed for you.

Excuse my stupidity but I caught my fixed Sunday avo following a morning flashy so I thought my peak days were Sunday avo- Tuesday avo. But then I thought, had I waited unti Monday fmu to test it would have been Monday am- Wednesday am? I only ask as I've had another gush I watery cm this morning so may try dtd tonight as didn't last night. Blush

BNmum · 30/07/2013 14:59

Please dont get too down bambi, dh hasn't put a stop to baby making just to the way you approach it. It may be harder work this month but you've got as good a chance as every other month if you dtd every other day.

Good luck with your appointment business

Fingers crossed for your BFP in a couple of weeks time charley, you've given it a good go.

There's no harm in giving it another go tea! If you went with the signs your body gave you and not the OPKs, you'd definately want to dtd tonight and maybe even tomorrow too, if you have the energy.

How's things with you strawbs

StrawberryMojito · 30/07/2013 19:15

Hi all. Things have improved for me. I got my 7th flashing smiley yesterday morning and was gutted, I really thought I was going to have an anovulatory cycle. Then I started noticing ewcm throughout the day so I used one of my Internet cheapie OPKs when I got home from work and it was positive! I was so pleased. We were 'scheduled' to do it last night anyway as part of our every other day plan so dtd as planned. I tested with CB this morning and FINALLY got my fixed on CD17, it has always come around cd12 before. So hopefully, if DH is willing we'll do it tonight aswell and I'd like to do it tomorrow but I think that might be pushing it with him!

Bambi, please don't feel too down and I really don't think there is any need to use condoms. Your DH sounds like he maybe needs a break from it for a month or so but presumably he wants a baby too so at some point he'll be back on board. I feel like this cycle has been going on forever and we started doing the every other day sex too early so my DH probably feels the same way. It puts a lot of pressure on a relationship and doesn't exactly make for great sex.

Tea, if you can manage another dtd then it can't do any harm, you probably have already ovulated but it makes you 100% sure.

Charley, I have managed to temp before DS wakes up but it hasn't showed me much so far. I'm hoping ill get a temp rise tomorrow or more likely Thursday. I cannot wait to be in this 2ww so I can stop faffing around with opks and thermometers, it's very tiresome.

How are you BN? How many weeks are you now? About 7? Have you had a look at the Chinese gender chart yet to see what you are having. It was correct for me with DS (I'll ignore the fact that there is a 50-50 chance).

Phew, what a long post!

OP posts:
StrawberryMojito · 30/07/2013 19:17

Business-hope the doctors appointment goes well.

Tea1Sugar · 31/07/2013 06:32

That's great Strawbs! Happy shagging! Lucky that your positive came up on one of your dtd days anyway, I know it's hard to do it so much, well it is for my dp. Whilst he hasn't said anything directly I can tell he struggles with the times frequency. Anyway, loads of luck to you!

I think I'm now in my 2ww. Pretty sure I ovulated yesterday cd13. Haven't dtd that much really only days 7,9,11,13 will try one more tonight if he's in the mood.

How's Everyone else?

Out of interest, Strawbs, you mentioned an anovulatory cycle. Now I know this means when you don't ovulate. I'm pretty sure I didn't ovulate last month but still got a period. Or am I talking crap?!

Wow long post I'll shut up now Grin

StrawberryMojito · 31/07/2013 12:36

Hi tea, we managed to dtd last night although we were both really tired but I still have some ewcm today and feel like we ought to do it again tonight for 3rd day in a row. However DH has got a really long day at work today so I think he'll be too tired and I don't want to badger him.

Yes, you can still get periods if you have an anovulatory cycle. I think it's the uterine lining breaking down, am really not sure on the specifics though. Bring on the 2ww!

BNmum · 31/07/2013 14:54

Hey! strawbs that's great news. If he's not up for it tonight, could you get a QuickTime in first thing in the morning?

I've no idea how far along I am, I'll get the diary out later and check. I hadn't heard of the Chinese gender chart, just spent he's fiddling around with it and it predicts a girl. It said a girl for my last pregnancy and I had a boy though so who knows Grin

charleylarlie · 01/08/2013 07:12

Hi all, just checking in! Am definitely in 2ww now as have had 3 higher temps in a row now. The website I enter all my obs into is a bit pants though, as it seems to take a temp dip at the right time and tell you that's when it thinks you ov'ed, even though it picked one BEFORE the positive opks and ewcm etc so I knew I hadn't ov'ed yet. But when I told it to ignore that temp, it immediately picked up on a temp dip two days earlier. Grr, have had to tell it to ignore 4 or 5 temps now, although it hasn't picked up on the temp dip I had on the day that I probably did ovulate. Thinking I'm prob better off recording it on paper myself.

Anyway, rant over. We're going down to visit my mum and dad for a few days today, which will be nice. Will try to keep in touch whilst I'm down. Not sure how to deal with the caffeine thing when I'm there though. I have been allowing myself one cup of coffee a day (plus chocolate, obviously). But there's no way I can go around refusing cups of tea or coffee when I'm there as it would be a giveaway (in fact, they'd probably assume I'm pg). So I think I'm going to have to relax my limit a bit.

Great news on getting your fixed, Strawberry. Have you managed any more bd?

welcome to the 2ww, Tea!

Hope all is good with everybody else!

blueamber · 01/08/2013 08:36

Those chinese gender charts are quite good, they are 50% accurate Grin

Charley, what site do you use? I'm using the fertility friend app/site and it works well (free as well). That site you're on shouldn't pick up a single dip, it should take the last 6 temperatures to calculate your base line and then pick up ov. With FF you can even set the OPKs as your main factor for determining ov if your temps are a bit chaotic.

And a couple of days of more caffeine won't hurt. Although you might feel the effects more. When I had two cups of tea during the day after being off caffeine for three months, I couldn't sleep at night!

I'm 4 dpo now and my temp has risen by a further .2 degrees. Last month I got bleeding on this day, so I'm hoping that will not happen, but then again, I did not ovulate properly last time. I hope now that I have some progesterone in me, the bleeding won't happen.

How's the weather where you are? Cloudy, rainy and not too warm here. Although I like sunshine and warmth, I'm glad not be in London now!

charleylarlie · 01/08/2013 09:54

I've been using Ovufriend, Blue, but I think it's quite new and not 100% live yet, so maybe it has a few things that need tweaking. Fertility Friend sounds better, so I might switch.

Hopefully your cycle has stabilised this month, Blue.

It's lovely and sunny here in Yorkshire, but we'll be stuck in the car for most of the day travelling to my mum and dad's. Hopefully it'll still be nice when we arrive. Smile

StrawberryMojito · 01/08/2013 12:54

Hi all, I has a big rise in temperature this morning so that was good. I presume it means I ovulated yesterday but unfortunately DH didn't get home from work until nearly 9pm and really wasnt up for sex. I probably could have persuaded him but I didn't think it was particularly fair. So as far as I can tell, I ov'd on day 18 and we dtd on days 17, 16 and 14 and every other day previous to those. I'm not sure we've done enough but only time will tell. Fingers crossed for all of us.

It's lovely weather here (midlands) and we're going down to Somerset on sat to visit DHs parents. It's our wedding anniversary on Sunday so they are going to babysit for us on sat so we can have a night out. We're going for a meal then meeting up with his old friends.

I have had a bit of a play with Fertility Friend but to be honest now I'm reasonably confident I've ovulated I just want to put the thermometer and sticks away until (hopefully not) next month.

Hi Bambi, if you're still hanging around, hope you're ok.

OP posts:
blueamber · 01/08/2013 13:48

Hi strawb, it sounds like you definitely did enough! Have a good anniversary!

BNmum · 02/08/2013 08:13

Morning ladies, it sounds like everyone is off for a mini break. You're making me very Envy, have a lovely time.

Good luck on your 2ww tea, strawbs and charley

How's things business and bambi?

BNmum · 02/08/2013 08:14

Sorry blue, good luck for your 2ww too.

Tea1Sugar · 02/08/2013 08:51

Hi bn Smile how are you feeling?

Im either 2 or 3 dpo. We go away on Sunday and Af/bfp are due two days before we fly home so have packed both tampax and some cheap tests!

I get really bad travel sickness and in worried that IF I'm pregnant can I take travel pills?

BNmum · 02/08/2013 15:57

Are you off anywhere exciting tea?

I'm not sure about the travel pills, it would be a case of reading the back and seeing if theyre safe. What about the travel bangles? I Bought some boots ones for morning sickness, unfortunately they didn't work for me but some people swear by them.

I'm still feeling rough and SO tired, DS is getting away with all sorts as I just haven't got the energy to argue or discipline Blush

Tea1Sugar · 02/08/2013 16:09

Oh no Hmm have you tried ginger biscuits? I swore them when I was pregnant with dd, that and peppermint tea. I hope you'll be over the sicky hurdle very soon.

We're going to Majorca which will be lovely, for 10 days. I just pray I won't spend all of it symptom spotting and wishing away Af from starting.

Just spent a fortune on iTunes downloading Ben and Holly and Peppa Pig galore to keep dd entertained on the plane!

charleylarlie · 02/08/2013 16:47

Ooh, you're in the 2ww now too, Strawberry! Happy anniversary!

Hope your ms wears off soon, BNmum. It must be worse with a toddler to look after too. I know if it were me I'd be relying on CBeebies and Nick Jr!

Have a lovely time, Tea. We love Peppa Pig and Ben and Holly in our house, too.

Hope everybody else is okay.

Tea1Sugar · 02/08/2013 19:06

How you doing charlie?

I have eaten SO much today, and still not even had dinner yet (which I'll happily eat Blush). Appetite/greed has gone from 0-60, hope it's just today, bikini diet has most definitely gone out the window! Biscuit

StrawberryMojito · 02/08/2013 21:18

Happy holidays Tea, I've been to Majorca a couple of time and its great. We also loaded up the iPad with kids stuff before we went on holiday in April. It worked a treat, the only problem was when we had to turn it off for the descent and landing. DS was not happy about that.

Yes, I'm 2wwing with you guys now. The first week isn't so bad as you know there won't be any symptoms, it's the second week I spend obsessing about every twinge or yawn. In the past few months I've learned that I get sore boobs, fatigue, thirst, bloating, headaches and nausea before every period. Therefore, I should know better than to try and interpret them as pregnancy symptoms. Doesn't stop me though.

Poor you BN, should only be a few more weeks. In the meantime, I agree with Charley, let CBeebies entertain him a bit more than usual (my DS becomes transfixed by Something Special) whilst you lie on the sofa. You can get strict again once your energy levels return.

OP posts:
Bambi27 · 02/08/2013 21:33

Ho guys sorry I've been absent for a bit!! Sorry you're still feeling poorly Bnmum but worth it in the end Grin

Oh happy holidays I'm very jealous!! Just ignore tww and enjoy your holiday!!!

I've decided no opks this month just going to Dtd when mood takes us and see. Xx

BNmum · 03/08/2013 09:19

Majorca for 10days sounds lovely, enjoy! We also love peppa pig and Ben and Holly. The iPad and a bucket load of snacks were great at keeping DS entertained on the flight.

I also drank a lot of peppermint tea with DS, I'd forgotten all about that. I'll have to try it again.

I hope the relaxed approach works bambi

When's everyone testing?

charleylarlie · 03/08/2013 09:44

Having a nice break, thanks Tea. My little man is being spoiled by his grandparents and uncle and I'm getting some relaxing time to sit down and read! Have a lovely time in Majorca, at least it'll take your mind off the 2ww.

Nice to hear from you, Bambi. The relaxed approach is a good idea.

Hope the peppermint tea helps, BNmum It'll help keep you hydrated even if it doesn't kill the sickness, esp in this weather.

Not sure when to test actually, as ov'ed later in my cycle this month. Think it was day 14, rather than the usual day 10-12. If my cycle is 25/6 days, then AF should appear next week, but wonder if it will come later if no bfp. I don't think I can test accurately until at least Sunday or Monday (next week). Currently 5/6 dpo so will prob start symptom spotting soon though will try not to. Btw, I do exactly the same with my pmt symptoms, Strawberry, I'm terrible!

How are you doing, Blue and Business?

blueamber · 03/08/2013 13:18

I'm jealous of everyone going on holiday. Luckily the weather is ok here and I'm planning on visiting some family abroad at the end of the month. Although my oh wont be going with me so I'm not sure when to plan it. I don't want to miss ov time, but I don't know when that will be yet. I guess it will be a last-minute trip!

I'm 6dpo now and no bleeding, so I'm happy with that. I don't know when to test. I would like to on AF day, but I probably end up testing earlier. 12 dpo at the earliest though, to make it somewhat reliable. Only 6 days to go! Eeks.

Tea1Sugar · 03/08/2013 19:33

Good luck to everyone on the 2ww. Going to be off air from tomorrow. Af/bfp is due on 11th for me, fingers crossed I won't need the two boxes of tampax in my suitcase. Have a good week everyone x
