Advice re OPK please-very early smiley face

This is my second month using an OPK (clearblue digital that tells you when you are both high and peak fertility). Last month I didn't get a high fertility sign at all (flashing smiley face), it just went straight to peak fertility (fixed smiley face). This was on day 12 which was a couple of days earlier than expected but still seemed normal.

I only finished my period a couple of days ago but started using the opk straight away as my cycles vary a bit (26-30 days). Today (day 8) I got a high fertlity sign. Surely this is too early?

So, we had sex last night just for fun rather than baby making but now I'm thinking should we do it again tonight as I got the high (but not peak) fertility sign or shall we just start doing it every other day until I get the peak fertility smiley face. I don't want to exhaust DH and his swimmers but don't want to miss the window either.

Don't worry tea, I've been taking a 50mg B6 supplement on top of my multi vitamin. Apparently you can take up to 100mg but I didn't want to over do it. I'm just hoping that I have only delayed ov and not prevented it completely. Unfortunately, my test strip this morning looked even lighter than yesterday's so I'll just have to see.

Sorry to hear that business, like others have said, I hope you treat yourself this weekend.

Sounds impressive blue, how many sessions do they usually recommend?

charleylarlie · 27/07/2013 17:09

Sorry to hear that, Business. Give yourself a treat this weekend and am sending you good vibes for next month.

Hope you get your fixeds soon, Blue, Tea and Strawberry. Hopefully ov is just delayed, Strawberry - it might even be the tablets having a positive effect? How?s the temping going?

Glad you felt the benefits of the reflexology, Blue. Sounds like it might be just what you need.

Hope you?re having a good time at the wedding, Bambi.

How are you doing, BNmum?

Welcome Sarahmains40. It?s common to get many days of flashing smileys, I?m afraid. How long is your cycle normally?

I got my fixed smiley today on cd12, which is quite late for me. Got it on cd10 last month and cd8 the month before. I was stressing about something at work earlier in the week though, so I wonder if that delayed it. Anyway, def getting ewcm today and feeling a little bit more up for it as well, so I guess that?s a good sign. Just hope I can convince DP to try to dtd later.

StrawberryMojito · 27/07/2013 18:51

Good news Charley, I'm sure your DP will be up for it, there is more motivation when you get your fixed because there is a real chance of success as opposed to an outside chance.

Blue, reflexology sounds promising, I'm watching how you get on with interest.

By the way, I forgot to say hi to Sarah, welcome to the thread.

Great news charley.

Oo reflexology sounds promising!

5th blooming flashy today cd11/25. Getting bored of this tbh. Will try and coax dp to dtd tonight as last month on regular cb digi I got a smiley on cd12.

Bambi27 · 28/07/2013 15:53

Hi everyone. Finally af came yesterday. Don't think we are going to use opks this month of chart. Had a big upsetting argument as dh feels we only Dtd when we are ovulating and other than that I'm quite standoffish, horrible to hear but he's probably right Confused so not going to do anything this month and concentrate on our marriage instead! How's everyone else doing?

Tea1Sugar · 28/07/2013 16:12

Wahoo! I had a gush of ewcm this afternoon despite a flashing smiley this am, just retested and got my fixed GrinGrin

Tea1Sugar · 28/07/2013 16:14

Hug for you bambi. Sorry your Af arrived but I'm sure you feel some relief to know what your body is doing. I completely understand about dtd. This month, dp and I have just been dtd every other day as otherwise I know he feels uncomfortable about it all tbh. Good luck to you next month Smile

Bambi27 · 28/07/2013 16:24

Ah yah congrats on your fixed! Fingers crossed for you tea!! Xx

BNmum · 28/07/2013 18:49

Sorry to hear your news bambi, af and a domestic sounds like an awful double whammy. Sometimes it's good to clear the air though and make sure everyone is happy. It's sounds like a good idea to take the pressure off and just go with the flow next cycle. You have a rough idea of when you ovulate now so there's no harm in initiating dtd around that time.

I never tell DH when I'm ovulating as he'd rather not know. I don't think any of them like he pressure.

Great news about the fixed tea, nice of your body to give you a big sign too! Smile

charleylarlie · 28/07/2013 20:29

Really sorry, Bambi. Hope you're able to come to an understanding about it all. Maybe a good idea to ditch the opks for a bit and just dtd every 2 or 3 days (or whenever the mood takes you). I suppose that at least now you've got your AF you can start from scratch for this month again with a different approach. It's so hard though. DP and I only ever dtd to conceive now. I think DP understands, but feels the pressure as he knows how much it means to me. I'm sure we'll come to blows yet though if nothing happens.

Yay for your fixed, Tea. Always a bonus when you notice a symptom of pre-ov (ewcm) as well. I've only started noticing mine since using the opks. Hope you and DP manage to seize the moment.

Tea1Sugar · 28/07/2013 21:15

Moment seized thanks! Convinced him to have a quicky if I did dd's bedtime routine (long and drawn out to say the least) but hey it worked! How long after fixed smiley should you ovulate? Correct me if I'm wrong but as I got mine in the afternoon and not waited for tomorrows fmu, does that mean I've given myself a wider peak window? Novice!

blueamber · 29/07/2013 07:49

Bambi, sorry about AF. In this ttc business we all have to find our balance between being happy and dtd for fun, and between dtd at the right time in what seems a small window. However, the approach where you can just dtd every other day or something for 2-3 weeks should work perfectly as well.

Tea, congrats on your fixed! When you test with fmu they say you should ov between 12-36 hours. You caught it very early, while the surge is still rising, so perhaps you'll ov within 24-48 hours? Good luck!

Bnmum, how are you feeling today?

Woohoo! I got my temp rise this morning, so all signs point to me having ov'd! I'm so happy my hormones seem to be back to normal after the stupid pill. I can't wait for this looong cycle to end, one way or the other.

blueamber · 29/07/2013 07:51

Oh and charley, hope you had a good weekend Grin

Bambi27 · 29/07/2013 08:39

Thanks guys. Well done on your fixed . Glad things are going great. Tbh I'm tempted to use protection for a while to prove its not all about ttc. Not sure.

blueamber · 29/07/2013 08:49

Bambi, that might not be necessary. If you just let it happen naturally, when you or your oh are in the mood, it should feel better anyway. Instead of going, let's do it now because I got a positive opk!

If you use protection, but then stop using it when you think you're nearing ovulation, then that might be a signal to your oh that it's not for fun anymore. Instead if you're just doing the same thing all month, he will be unaware when it's during your fertile time.

Tea1Sugar · 29/07/2013 15:42

I agree with blue, bambi but I do understand your thinking behind the protection too. I'll just send lots of luck your way.

Day 2 of peak for me today but we rarely have sex consecutive nights so doubt I'll get another bd in tonight but I hope so. I reckon today is actual O day though.

Think I've knackered dd out! I've signed her up to trampolining over the holidays so after an hour of jumping followed by swimming she's crashed out in front of Ben and Holly, here's hoping she'll fall asleep early tonight and give dp and I some alone time!

How's everyone else doing today?

BNmum · 29/07/2013 16:18

Hi ladies,
I agree with the others bambi just dtd when you feel like it, don't mention anything to do with conceiving or protection and see what happens. Enjoy it!

I really feel for my DH as I've been feeling so rotten we haven't dtd for over a week now. In fact we've had very little physical contact as it makes me feel nauseous. Poor DH, I hope he doesn't take it personally! It's turned from non stop shagging to zilch practically overnight.

Fingers crossed for tonight too tea

The temp rise sounds promising blue, will you continue taking it? If it stays high is that a sign of pregnancy?

I've been trying a few things that you guys suggested such as eating little and often, ginger biscuits, rich tea, salty foods etc. I still feel rotten and its there all day which is really annoying especially as I haven't got the energy to deal with my 2yo too. I went to town this afternoon and picked up some travel sickness bands which are supposed to help with ms as well as a huge bag of mint humbugs and butter mints. I'm not going to have teeth left by this time tomorrow!

charleylarlie · 29/07/2013 19:13

Hope you come to an understanding with hubby, Bambi. I don't think you should have to resort to using protection.

Sounds like you're in with a good chance even if you don't dtd today, Tea. Maybe try again tomorrow, just for luck.

Sorry you're feeling crap, BNmum. I remember it well and hope it passes soon for you. I don't blame you not wanting to dtd, not sure I would be up for it either.

Great news re: temp rise, Blue. Hope your cycles are settling down and that this is your lucky month.

How are you, Strawberry and Business?

I was expecting to see a temp rise today, but hasn't happened. And then I noticed more ewcm so seized the moment. Have managed to bd 4 days in a row (both days of fixed smiley and one each either side) which is more than we ever have. Think DP is exhausted now though, and so am I. Don't think my back will take many more months like this! Think have done all I can this month (not sure can manange another day of bd, even if temp doesn't rise tomorrow). If no bfp this month, will have to rethink our method as def cannot keep doing this every month. We shall see anyway.

blueamber · 29/07/2013 20:17

Charley, I got my temp rise two days after my second fixed smiley. So hopefully youll get it tomorrow.

Tea1Sugar · 29/07/2013 20:22

Looks like you've definitely covered all bases Charlie! Much more than I have that's for sure, only dtd 3/6 days atm, though might dtd tonight. But my right boob is SO sore HmmNever ever experienced this before so wondering if it's related to ovulation

Bambi27 · 29/07/2013 21:44

Thanks guys, not sure what we'll do...just pretty down tbh...Confused

Glad all your cycles seem to be going well!! Fingers crossed for some bfps to cheer me up!!!

businessadmin · 30/07/2013 01:45

Hi charley im ok ty,

Just coming to end of this month cycle, i have to ave a follow
up with the Dr at the clinic .

charleylarlie · 30/07/2013 07:52

Good luck Business!

Hope you're ok, Bambi. Have you decided what to do?

I got my temp rise too, today Blue (by 0.2 degrees C, can't remember what it was in F). Tempted to dtd today as well, but prob only a small chance I'm still fertile and I just don't know if I can manage another day. Might give it a rest for this month now. 2ww now. Fingers crossed.

charleylarlie · 30/07/2013 07:54

Oh and dtd every other day should give you a good chance to catch the egg, Tea. Good luck.
