As if ttc wasn't nerve wrecking enough, we like the extra challenge of getting that BFP while still breastfeeding a baby or toddler. While this isn't an easy endouvour, it certainly isn't impossible as many graduates on the previous threads prove.

I'm posting a link here for any newcomers about fertility while breastfeeding.

Am also wonderig if you'd like to have some sort of stats for the tread members. I'll just start myself.

Hi all. I am ttc number 2 while bf ds who is nearly 2.

Got pregnant first cycle this time round, but pregnancy was 'location unknown', and there was a bit of swelling in one of my tubes and ovaries were polycystic. Evenyually hormones dropped right down at 6 wks. I feel like my hormones are well out of whack. I am now waiting to ovulate againm

I dropped one feed and am now down to one a day, but I can't help but think I may have caused what happened by bf.

I haven't read the thread yet, but will do so when I get a chance. Just wanted to check in and say hello.

eggsnbeans · 05/08/2013 09:42

Ahhhh finally over the lurgy Grin so good to be able to swallow without lots of pain (I snuck a look at my tonsils and was pretty gross Confused )Thanks for being optimistic Wild Smile , but unfortunately was def AF! LP still only 7-8days Sad but DD has dropped the afternoon feed now (finally just started eating better!!!!!!!!!) so maybe that will help next month!

Are you still on holiday Wild? ILs driving you nuts yet? Ha at least you've got another good reason to tell them why a bottle wouldn't helpDD sleep at night now. Smile I know my parents would say the same thing!

Lots of EWCM is great Sunny! Hope you are dtd in case you can catch that 1st egg Grin

Wildwaterfalls · 05/08/2013 12:36

Aargh wrote a big post and my phone ate it Confused

Eggs really sorry it was AF in the end, but great news you're feeling better and also re afternoon feed and DD eating better. How old is she? About 12m? I can't remember!

Sunny ooh really hope this means AF will be here soon!! Have you had a date for the op yet? How does your DS feel about it - does he understand what is happening re hearing etc?

Welcome getagold - so sorry about your recent pg experience. Really pleased to have you on the thread!

Still with the ILs and still at the receiving end of well-meaning advice Smile. We're doing BLW so I usually give DD chunky / finger shaped bits of food, but apparently I should cut it up much smaller Smile. Still, it is well-meaning, and it is lovely to be here and be so well looked after - MIL loves cooking. And have been indulging in blue cheese, raw ham and smoked salmon, haha.

Time for OPKs again soon...

Wildwaterfalls · 08/08/2013 22:24

Hi all... Quiet on the thread, hope everyone's alright!

Positive OPKs here yesterday and today which is several days earlier than expected... Not sure what it means but glad I've tested as otherwise we would have left DTD until the weekend and might have missed the window!

CakesAreNotTheAnswer · 09/08/2013 06:02

On the interminable 2ww here and teething miserable toddler ismaking me a bit anxious about all that sleepless night stuff again. eep.
treating on sat even though it's a week before af due but I have ic and am not afraid to use them!

Yay so glad to hear DSs op went well Sunny Grin How long until you can determine if his hearing is back to normal? How are you feeling about the whole thing? I know I'd have been pretty upset to see my DD under GA, even if only for something quick and easy! Hopefully AF will appear this weekend and cheer you up Hmm

Smile for the smiley face Wild! Do you get CM changes correlating to your OPKs? I've been just going by my CM changes, and dtd as much as we can manage from around d16-23 (assuming ov around d21). CD 9 here so another week to go before we start in earnest!

How long until your DD's birthday Wild? I can't believe my DD's almost 1! has gone sooooo fast!

Nights been crap here lately. We seem to be up for nearly 2 hours at some point in the night, as well as a couple of other quick times. Confused Poor thing still has yukky conjunctivitis Sad Was looking at lot better, but now worse again. I don't know if she's got the first of her molars moving up too? Large bump on her lower right gum in the right spot, but that could've been there for ages and now I'm just looking for a reason for our crap sleep Grin

Wildwaterfalls · 09/08/2013 13:07

Sunny so pleased to hear the op has been! And that bm helped calm your DS, poor thing. How is he doing now?

Eggs sorry to hear about your bad nights. You're very good checking for molars, that hadn't even occurred to me even though DD is biting on everything at the moment. Yes I remember your DTD week tends to be one week after mine! I'm getting increased CM with the smileys as well, but usually I can actually feel ov (aches for a few hours) but haven't felt that yet. We'll keep going until Sunday I think just in case, although it isn't exactly romantic at this stage..

DD is 1 at the end of this month. Very excited - planning a little party although trying not to overdo it Grin

Cakes fingers crossed for you during this 2ww - and good luck for Saturday. What is ic? Sorry probably really silly question Blush

Hello all, was wondering if I could rejoin this thread? Posted way back in Feb, have been trying not to think about TTC, but it's not working!!!........
I am bf DS(nearly 21 months), no AF in sight :(......having been hoping that I will miraculously catch that first egg..............have given up on temping, raspberry leaf tea and grapefruit juiceGrin

Thanks sunny Smile, very much appreciated........at the moment. Bf about 4 times a day and 2/3 times at night, but have just had a really difficult teething week which has pretty much been every hour round they clock!!!
Think we maybe in that 8 percent..........Sending bfp vibes to allxx

CakesAreNotTheAnswer · 15/08/2013 09:48

Going on a big hippy camping weekend this weekend so at least af is out of the way before that. Might indulge in some Wine as compensation Wink

Wildwaterfalls · 15/08/2013 15:40

Oh Cakes that is really frustrating Hmm. But as you say make the most of your camping weekend! I spent the first half of this month gobbling up every soft cheese in sight Grin. If this is not my month either I quite fancy some sushi!

Sunny great news DS is through the worst of it now. And good luck with the night weaning if you end up doing it. We've done it now - not for AF reasons but to enable better sleep as I go back to work. DH spent a few nights going in and rocking her, and offering water (which she didn't want). Now it usually is enough to go in and pat/shush, although sometimes she even sleeps through! So we are down morning and evening feeds - she feeds lots in the morning now.

Welcome boombangcrash (have I remembered that right?). Nice to have you on the thread and sending you AF vibes (or catch that first egg vibes)!

Eggs - any news? SWI week right?

BlueC2 · 16/08/2013 12:52

Hello all...so sorry for being awol so soon after joining you all...been a ridiculously busy few weeks with work and not too much DTD either (altough I think what did happen was well times for Ov)...however...AF now 4 days late (you may remember me saying my cycle had all gone back nice and clockwork despite my still feeding DS1 twice a day)...have poas'd most days this week Blush and bfn each and every day! Horrendous stomach cramps on Monday (AF due date and was convinced she was on her way!) and light ones on and off all week...but no sign whatsoever of AF...any ideas ladies?!?! So confused and getting quite frustrated! Also trying not to panic as before DS1 I had an MMC not found til 12w scan but on that occassion it took ages for the bfp to show up, so hoping we're not having a rerun Sad

CorporeSarnie · 16/08/2013 13:29

Hi all,
It has been a long time since I last posted here (I have lurked a bit in the meantime), this has included both a BFP and an early pregnancy loss in recent weeks. I am now starting to feel more normal again, and am thinking about returning to ttc once AF has returned.
I noticed a post from goldtoof, , hope you are feeling better - I am much happier and have more or less stopped blaming myself... the following link provides some nice reassurance here. A healthy pregnancy is likely to proceed regardless of bfing, I think it is just bad luck - two others of my antenatal group have also had MCs, neither were bfing - it is just another way we can blame ourselves for something that was beyond our control.
There's nothing wrong with decreasing/stopping either if that is what you choose to do. DD's feeds (bedtime and morning, sometimes naps at weekends) seemed to be getting shorter, but then all of a sudden she'll have a crazy feeding day and not want to stop (usually when I have an early appointment at work and need to get going).
Anyway, hello again to all, hope for good news from some of you soon.

BlueC2 · 17/08/2013 00:02

Well...AF decided to make her appearance finally this evening...so a nice glass of wine was enjoyed and onwards wit the Ttc it is! I think my crazy stressful and overtired week last plus plus DS being ill and maybe guzzling more milk may have lead to the delayed AF. Think I am erring on cutting down on the length of feeds a bit more this month...not sure my brain can cope with the added complication of bf whilst Ttc...not going to make any hasty decisions re bf, but will see. Hope you are all well and have a good weekend!

eggsnbeans · 17/08/2013 02:46

Great news your DS is getting over the op ok Sunny. Smile FX even tighter for AF before the end of the month then!

Sorry AF got you Cake Sad , but at least you can enjoy your camping trip now.

Well done with the better sleeping Wild Grin Does your DD have formula during the day or is she happy with just solids? My DD's lunch time feed is getting shorter and shorter (she eats well at lunch now finally!) and I have been worried she's not really getting enough milk, but has a huge feed in the mornings and is back to feeding at bedtime again (phew!) Have you got anything special for DD's 1st birthday? We are just doing a small party for family too and I've made a couple of things for her too.

Have been trying to dtd lots but DH has been away for a couple of days, (seems to happen every month around ov time Confused ) although hopefully I'm just starting my 'fertile window'! I'm trying the OPKs again and back eating grapefruits to help my CM (good thing I like them!) so FX it's not too late Grin

Sad for your AF too Blue, but at least it wasn't another MMC.

Great to hear you are feeling a bit better Corporal, and that you've had more reassurance that MC wasn't due to BF.

Wildwaterfalls · 18/08/2013 08:58

So sorry for your loss Corporate. You are so right that when something like that happens, we search for explanations and it is easy to blame yourself, but it really can't have been anything you did and certainly not bf. Hugs and good luck as you continue the ttc journey.

Hi eggs and good luck with the fertile window!! Missing a couple of days in the lead-up doesn't matter I am sure. Good that you're eating lots of grapefruit. DD gets two bottles of formula during the day, mid-morning and mid-afternoon. We will probably try and drop the mid-morning one soon and/or change these into cows milk in a cup, but we are in the middle of a transition period with me going back to work so reluctant to introduce any other changes right now. She loves her bottles Smile. Sadly no family can make it to her birthday as everyone lives abroad, but we are just having a few friends round for a low key BBQ and some cake. Looking forward to it!

Blue sorry to hear AF came in the end - extra frustrating if it is late and you were hoping for better news.

Cakes hope you're having a fabulous camping weekend, and Sunny fingers crossed AF turns up before the end of this month!

Wildwaterfalls · 18/08/2013 08:59

Corporate?? Blush Corpore!

CakesAreNotTheAnswer · 19/08/2013 13:20

Ugh. DS has a D&V bug and a temp of 39.4. Boobing like nobody's business. My nipples hurt. I'm tired. Why do they always vomit at 2am?

SoulCakeDuck · 19/08/2013 16:43

Drat, just wrote a massive post and computer ate it...

Condensed version:

Can I join in? Looks like AF had finally returned after more than a year. Still feeding DD morning, bedtime and once over night. Beginning to think about trying for number 2, have always wanted at least 3 kids with a fairly small age gaps. Took us a year with DD so prepared for it to take a while but would be good to hang out with some like minded people going through similar things. DH is supportive but not very good at talking about the nitty gritty stuff.

Think I have the usual guilt about thinking about another child while dd is still so young, it is difficult to imagine how she would adjust to a new baby, it's difficult even to imagine what she will be like in 9 months or more.

Half of me is very excited, the other (still sleep deprived half) thinks I'm crazy, DD still doesn't sleep through and I'm thinking of starting the whole thing again!

eggsnbeans · 19/08/2013 20:45

Oh no Cakes! Hope things are back to normal now!

Hi Soul and welcome! How old is your DD? I've always wanted to have 3 (maybe 4) kids with small age gaps too Smile but not very likely as getting pg took yonks! IKWYM about wondering how DD will adjust to a new baby too Smile but 9 months is aaaaaaaaages to them!

How long until you go back to work Wild? Are you going back full time? I resigned from my previous job and have just been applying for new ones, but there's not much about (especially part time), so not holding out much hope at the moment.
