TTC #2 and turning into a nut job!

gemmeg · 18/02/2013 07:13

Ladies, bring me back down to Earth before it's too late! I'm TTC #2 and its only the 2nd cycle and I'm already doing my own head in not to mention my OH.....we're not the kind of couple to have regular sex when not TTC (much to my disappointment Sad) so it's a real effort for DS to, erm, pull his finger out as it were and DTD every other day. With DS1 I had no idea about CM and OPKs and just used an ovulation calendar for timing but this time round I'm in danger of falling into the OPK trap! I'm aware of my constant whittling and DH even said that he hopes I get pregnant this month so he doesn't have to listen to me begging for him to do it just one more time! Anyone in the same boat?

stone im keeping all my pinkies crossed that it is your month, its tough going, i know so this is the place to vent if you need to!

cabbage my AF is due around sunday too!! Have you had any early POAS thoughts yet? Mine have just started creeping in, but im only approx 8dpo so that would be too early! Pinkies crossed that this is your month!

When have others POAS before AF or am I just being silly unhealthy POAS obsession here! ! knowing my luck AF will turn up true to form Sad

gemmeg dont worry I know plenty of ladies that didn't have symptoms at the same stage as you so you're not the only one! Im sure they will start kicking in soon enough!!

mummy tis tough going when something has happened to make you feel uncertain, but try and stay relaxed and embrace this pregnancy as if it were your first.

Big hugz to you all, love hearing how you are all getting on! :0)

So, when do you ladies think I should start POAS then if im 8dpo today, say 10, 11, 12, 13dpo or shall I just wait till when my AF is due to arrive? :0)

winterpansy · 14/05/2013 10:42

Hello ladies!

abi I got my bfp with a first response at 12 dpo so maybe wait until then at least? I'm excited for you! Good tip on the biscuits, thank you. Still feeling ropey each morning so they are on the shopping list today!
I've been posting on Jan antenatal thread but it's going too fast for me to keep up - think most people are on 1st babies so have more time than us to spend on line than us seasoned pros!

I might start a graduate nutters thread? Anyone interested?

mummy - I'm freaking out a bit as well. Nervous about scan on Fri in case they don't find a heartbeat. Driving myself nuts googling as well. I had another tiny bit of spotting yesterday but it was red, not brown so I flipped. I'm still feeling quite sick so hopefully that's a good sign. I have been lucky enough not to mc before so can't totally understand what you're going through but I do empathise and hope time is flying for you x

no more I'm feeling much sicker with this pg than with DS, but a teeny bit less tired and hardly any sore boobage, so I can't call it. Last time I knew from day 1 that DS was a boy. Can't wait to find out what this one is!

stone Fingers crossed a wee bump will be yours very, very soon x

cabbage Hope all that dtd will pay off! At least you can be safe in the knowledge you've given it your best shot.

gem I had no real symptoms, apart from tiredness, until I threw up on Sun at 6+1 so I am sure yours is in the post!

Sorry if I've missed anyone out there - hope you're all well x

CabbageLooking · 14/05/2013 11:48

Abibub stupidly POAS this morning just to feel like I was doing something. It was only a cheap one though and obviously BFN. I have a splitting headache and I'm feeling very emotional which is probably a sign of AF on its way unfortunately.

AbiBub · 14/05/2013 11:51

Hey winter hope the rich tea help when you get them, they also are good if you suffer from pms!! They're perfect from the point that they are plain enough not to hit any gag relflexes but enough calories to help ya move without yakking!! Ahh I had a look at that jan thread it does move quite quick, I think you're right about it being mostly 1st time mummies, so deffo more time in their hands! If you do start a seasoned pros graduate post I will gladly join when I get my bfp as I think I might just miss touching base with you all !! 12dpo would be fridayish so I could wait till then I think well heres hoping anyway!

How are we all today? : 0 ) x

AbiBub · 14/05/2013 13:45

Oh cabbage I hope its not AF , all is not lost yet though AF arrives and pg symptoms and AF symptoms can be quite similar , no wonder we get confused!!

BartBaby · 14/05/2013 17:01

Hi ladies Smile

Nothing much to report here really, still counting down the days until ov. Hate the waiting! Will start testing soon so will hopefully get it right.

Stone, im just a few days behind you by the sounds of it. Everything crossed for you Smile

Cabbage, i hope its not the dredded AF. Like abi said a lot of the symptoms are the same so it can be very confusing! Good luck!

Winter, i hope you are feeling better soon. I had terrible sickness with my DS so know how you are feeling. I found ginger biscuits and tonic water worked well for me. I drank loads of the stuff but it often settled my stomach. It doesnt taste great to start with so just a little at a time...

Everyone else i hope all is well xx

Mummytothearkbuilder · 14/05/2013 18:21

Hi ladies

winter good luck for Friday lovely - I'm sure once you have the scan you will feel more reassured.

abi and cabbage fingers crossed for you both - sounds like you have both done good work on the dtd front - it's so hard not to test early isn't it!! I tested a few days after my light spotting but I have heard the first response tests are pretty good a couple of days before AF is due.

bartbaby the waiting is so hard - I always felt like this was as pointless bit of the cycle if you know what I mean - good luck with the ovulation testing.

stone sorry to hear you are feeling blue Hun - it is so hard when you want a BFP so much - I have everything crossed for you Hun and anytime you are feeling down just come on here and vent - that's what we are here for.

gemmeg hope you are doing okay - I have been looking into symptoms and it looks like it is very common not to have any symptoms at this stage. Do you have your appointment on Thursday? How many weeks are you now?

Hope you ladies are all okay and have had a good Tuesday - big hugs to you all from rainy Cambridgeshire xx

Tallalime · 14/05/2013 18:42

Hi ladies.

Good luck for Friday winter I'm sure it will all go well :)

Gemmeg I think no symptoms in early pregnancy is fine. I had none at all when I was pregnant with DD, I fully expected to be told I was imagining her at 12 week scan Grin

I am on day 16 and according to bastard expensive monitor am ov. So the last 4 months I have (apparently) ov on day 14, day 9, day 15 and day 16.

This month I have decided to 'not try' per se and just DTD every 2-3 days. So have done 15, 13, 10, 8 and 6. Will also do days 17, 19/20 and 22 or thereabouts.

I don't hold out much hope though Sad I'm not sure I believe it will ever happen now. I have Dr appt on the 24th to discuss what to do moving forward. I just want to know whether it's likely to happen or not at this point. It's the hope and the let down every month that's killing me.

Also had the dreaded smear test today so am slightly on edge about that - it's a whole different tww isn't it Confused

Also (and finally, honest!) I still haven't managed to bring myself to speak to my sister since she announced her bfp. In fact I have actively avoided seeing her Blush I am so ashamed about it but I just can't do it right now Sad Envy Angry

gemmeg · 14/05/2013 19:50

Hi all! Thanks for all the reassurance Smile. Have been mega hungry today so I guess I can put that on the symptoms list Grin

winter* I'd be up for a graduate nutters thread....would still feel like I'm tempting fate at the moment though (in true nut-job style!).

abi I tested at 12 dpo but then I suspected I had a short luteal phase. I would say hold out as long as you can but then I didn't exactly!!

tallalime I really hope this is your month. I sounds as if you've covered all your bases with DTD. I'm sure your sister must understand how hard it it is for you to be around her at the moment.

cabbage I hope that headache is down to something other than AF. Fingers crossed!

mummy going by LMP I'm 5 wks 5 days. My appointment's on Thursday morning where I'll have a blood test (I have a slightly underactive thyroid which went downhill with DS1) and an internal ultrasound. How are you feeling now?

OP posts:
Mummytothearkbuilder · 14/05/2013 21:50

Hey gemmeg - I'm not too bad - trying not to think about it too much - the scan is next Friday and feels like ages away. I do feel a bit different this time round - when I miscarried I just had a feeling something wasn't right but don't feel like that this time however I don't want to tempt fate at all!!

Good luck at the appointment hun - report back and let is know how it goes!!

Tallalime - sounds like you have covered the bases with dtd - well done hun - fingers crossed! Does your sister know that you are ttc? X

StoneBaby · 14/05/2013 22:03

I'm have terrible lower tummy cramps tonight so as it's too early for AF I'm either developping an UTI or I'm ovulating (never had pain before) but the ov test was negative. Grr too much stress and analysing!!!

mummy great news about feeling different. Fx

talla looks like you've covered this month efficently

Need to sleep as I'm up at 5am to catch a flight

gemmeg · 15/05/2013 09:24

Hi stone I usually get ov pain from about 5 days before ov so keep testing and perhaps you'll get a pos opk. I used the pain as an indicator of when to start testing (and DTD!).

OP posts:
Mummytothearkbuilder · 15/05/2013 13:14

Stone - I also got ovulation pain and was normally a good indicator that a positive OPK was close x

Tallalime · 15/05/2013 17:21

stone I never got a positive on a normal opk, either internet cheapy or clear blue.

But I had the progesterone blood test and that came back normal and the clearblue monitor is definitely picking up peak ov. I also get ov pain - though didn't realise what it was til I got the monitor - usually in the 24hr that I get my first peak on the monitor.

Dr told me that some womens LH surge is either too weak or too short to trigger the normal sticks.

StoneBaby · 16/05/2013 06:14

genmeg all fx for you today

Mummytothearkbuilder · 16/05/2013 07:24

Hope the appointment goes well gemmeg x

winterpansy · 16/05/2013 07:42

Thanks for the good wishes for the scan tomorrow. I'll be sure to report back once it's done and then get cracking on the nutters graduate thread! I'm feeling so awful that it's reassuring that there is something in there causing it.

gemmeg Everything crossed for you today - I'm sure it will all be great x

BartBaby · 16/05/2013 10:04

gemmeg good look for today at docs, and winter good luck for the scan tomorrow. Im sure it will make you feel better about things.

Im hoping to get on with plenty of dtd this weekend so fx!! Grin xx

gemmeg · 16/05/2013 12:50

Thanks everybody Smile. I had an internal ultrasound and the dr said the heart is beating Smile then he jabbed me with a needle 3 times to get blood-ouch! He also said I had a little bit of blood on my cervix (I hadn't noticed any coming out) but he said this is normal. My next appointment is in 3 weeks.

How's everyone else doing today?

OP posts:
attilascupcakes · 16/05/2013 13:25

Hello nutty ladies. Is there room for one more? I am officially on my first cycle of ttc DC2 but in reality we haven't used contraception since DD was born two and a half years ago. I have been waiting and waiting for an "accident" (while looking up my possible due date each month for about a year Confused ) and as it hasn't happened I think I had better put a bit more effort in Grin

Great news about seeing a heartbeat Gem Smile. Not so great about the three attempts to get blood! My veins are awful and I always have to have a childs butterfly needle in my hand to get blood out so I feel your pain.

Mummytothearkbuilder · 16/05/2013 14:33

Great news gemmeg so pleased a heartbeat was seen - do you feel more reassured now?

I'm hoping that we can see a heartbeat next Friday but think it might be too early - I think my dates are out a bit!!

X

ASmidgeofMidge · 16/05/2013 18:09

Glad you got good news, gemmeg. How are all the nutters? I had some weird bleeding on Tues-would have been about a week (ish) after ov. Only a tiny bit, and bright red. Am trying not to think about implantation bleeding; mid cycle spotting has never happened for me before...

Mummytothearkbuilder · 16/05/2013 18:49

Ohhh smidge - could well be - fingers crossed!! Xx

babyrose · 16/05/2013 20:36

Hi ladies, may I join you? I'm on cd12 and in the fertile window. Dtd early wed morning 4am df woke me from night shift and 12 pm last nite!! Feeling quite hopeful this month, this is our 7 cycle already.

Congratulations to all with their bfp's already!

StoneBaby · 16/05/2013 21:29

gem great news and I feel your pain on the blood test

winter fx for tomorrow

mummy fx for next week

Well according to my calculations, ov already happened or should happen any dats so I'm going to try to convince DH that dtd tonight would be a good idea (I'm not holding my breath on anything happening tonight but who knows I may be happily surprised).

Welcome to the new commers Smile
