TTC #2 and turning into a nut job!

gemmeg · 18/02/2013 07:13

Ladies, bring me back down to Earth before it's too late! I'm TTC #2 and its only the 2nd cycle and I'm already doing my own head in not to mention my OH.....we're not the kind of couple to have regular sex when not TTC (much to my disappointment Sad) so it's a real effort for DS to, erm, pull his finger out as it were and DTD every other day. With DS1 I had no idea about CM and OPKs and just used an ovulation calendar for timing but this time round I'm in danger of falling into the OPK trap! I'm aware of my constant whittling and DH even said that he hopes I get pregnant this month so he doesn't have to listen to me begging for him to do it just one more time! Anyone in the same boat?

mummy just had a look on t'internet and found this:

"Caution must be used in making too much of hCG numbers. A normal pregnancy may have low hCG levels and result in a perfectly healthy baby. The results from an ultrasound after 5 - 6 weeks gestation are much more accurate than using hCG numbers"

Found it here on the American Pregnancy Association website americanpregnancy.org/duringpregnancy/hcglevels.html

An thanks gemmeg - so sweet of you to post that info.

She didn't say there was cause for concern just that the range is huge she seems to place more emphasis on the doubling.

Just spoke to the midwife and I have an early scan on 24th May - 2 weeks to wait!! X

winterpansy · 10/05/2013 14:17

mummy - just saw your posts. Really hope you're feeling a bit more reassured now. I totally understand your worry though - everything about pg is so emotive and stressful! Countdown to 24th now x

ASmidgeofMidge · 10/05/2013 17:53

Hi mummy - agree with posters who've said the range must be huge, and that surely th important thing is that it's doubling. Can totally understand your worry - roll on 24th when hopefully you'll feel more reassured x

ASmidgeofMidge · 10/05/2013 17:56

Opk now showing fainter line than control although still lots of ewcm and v sore boobs. Think that'll be my lot for this month as dh starts nights tonight; managed dtd on cd 15, 16 and 17-all of which had +opk, so fingers are well & truly crossed

StoneBaby · 10/05/2013 21:27

mummy even if the figure is low, it has doubled. Keep faith and fx crossed for you

AbiBub · 11/05/2013 02:06

Hey you, you lovely nutters! How are you all?

Sorry I haven't been on for a few days, I feel like my days are slipping by way to quickly! Welcome bartbaby! how are you? Hope you are finding this thread a comfort, and a good place to offload already Wink

asmidge, looks like you have done good with the dtd efforts at the right time, so all pinkies crossed for you!

Mummy, sorry to hear you have been having a tough time at the mo with feeling low, but I have a good feeling you will be ok. The hcg is such a range from lady to lady, and the main thing is, it is doubling which is fabby in it's own right for sure. Big hugs to you, and roll on the 24th May. It's good to know that the docs are keeping a check on you and the bub, never be afraid to ask as many questions as you need answers for, as that is what these good health officials are paid for Smile

Thanks for all your lovely support and comments about finger crossing and wishes, it's really lovely to know that you are supportive Smile. OH and I have ceased on the dtd now, we were going to dtd tomorrow but last night we dtd and afterwards I had a little bit of pink blood (prob mixed with other things, sorry if this is tmi! ) I went to the loo first thing this morning and it was what seemed to be ewcm, but the time after that, I went for a wee, and it was all back to normal, so I cant tell if that was leftovers from last night mixed with my fluids (sorta like a flush of the system) or whether I have got my dates completely confused, and that was ov?! if it was ov, which i'm not sure it was ( to me it felt like it was last sat/sun time) then I would be covered with last nights dtd anyhow wouldn't I? its just dtd was a bit tender, and my OH and I don't want to risk anything now, and want to wait for AF which should arrive next sat/sun time (based on my normal 28 cycle) I had had slight abdominal pains all day, but because I suffer from cervical erosion, I always consider it to be that. Can you lovely ladies shed any light on it? OMGosh sorry I have completely gone off on one!!

So how are the lovely expectant mums getting on? and how abut the rest of us nutters? Amyone got any nice plans for the weekend?

Wow, this is a long post!! sorry if I have bored anyone Blush

Mummytothearkbuilder · 11/05/2013 05:13

Ho ladies

Sorry for the über early post!! I woke up at 5am so thought I would to my last clear blue digital test. To be honest I wanted out of the house so all testing can cease!! I was expecting it to say 1-2 weeks like last week because my hcg levels are low but it said 2-3 weeks so has increased in a week!!

I know it's not that much of a big deal but made me feel more reassured that things are doing what they should be. DH has pleaded with me not to test anymore so I will try and be good!! :-)

BartBaby · 11/05/2013 08:28

Good morning everyone Smile

Abi, im good thank you. Only on CD5 now so a bit behind you, counting down the days until ov. I used the opk's last month and had a few -ve ones and then a +ve one so i think they worked ok for me. I will give them another go this month and see how i get on. Fx that your dtd has done the trick this month Smile

Mummy, that sounds great to me Grin sometimes i think you just need to see the increase for yourself. Not long until the 24th for your scan. Im sure all will be fine for you. I bet you cant wait!

Asmidge, good luck for your 2ww. It sounds like you did great with dtd so i have everything crossed for you.

My DH surprised me yesterday and actually asked when i would be ov. So at least he knows has lots of dtd to get on with next weekend Grin
I just hate all the waiting!

Hope you are all well xx

gemmeg · 11/05/2013 08:31

mummy that's great Smile

Mummytothearkbuilder · 11/05/2013 08:35

Thanks ladies - feeling a bit more reassured about things now.

We have a nice chilled weekend planned and then a busy week at work so that should help time go quickly!!

I won't be doing anymore tests - going to try and trust my body a bit more!! Xx

AbiBub · 11/05/2013 11:52

mummy that's wonderful stuff, and also a very positive thing to do with not doing any more tests, it shows you are ready to trust your body to do what's best Smile.

Hi bartbaby The waiting bit feels like it drags on a bit doesn't it!! I am past ov and now waiting for AF to arrive, although secretly I hope she doesn't!! Wink. So its all about the waiting for us at the mo then!! Hope your time goes quickly, and yayh to the DH recognising the times that you will need to be dtd.

gemmeg helllllooooo!! :0) How are you feeling lovely? All good I hope! How many weeks are you now? (sorry, I'm awful at the mo with remembering figures!)

Whats everyone got planned for this weekend? Smile

gemmeg · 11/05/2013 13:40

Sounds like a plan mummy! Enjoy your weekend!

I'm really well thanks abi, yourself? I'm only 5 weeks but have an appointment on Thursday with my gynacologist so I hope to be able to see a little bean and if it's not too early a heartbeat.

We're having a chilled weekend in Hungary. It's really hot and sunny so we're bbqing this evening and heading back home tomorrow after a lovely lunch at a local restaurant. it's a hard life Smile

mrscookie78 · 11/05/2013 18:19

My plan is to start dtd tonight, im only day 8 (attempting the sperm meets egg plan) and thought I should put some effort in this month. But then im going to avoid this forum and not Google every pmt symptom in the hopes I don't obsess over everything. Grin Grin so I will be back and will let you know how I get on. hope the bfp ladies are ok and more ladies get bfps this month.

mummy, ive heard as long as it doubles its ok. hope everything is ok at your scan.Smile

AbiBub · 11/05/2013 23:07

Hey gemmeg Glad you are good! Your not only 5 weeks, you are 5 weeks, yayh! Grin . Let us know how your appointment goes on Thursday, I don't know about anyone else, but I love to hear the progress updates Grin. Would be lovely if you do get to hear little beans heartbeat Smile keeping all pinkies crossed that you do! Your weekend sounds lush and chilled out, enjoy! I'm not too bad thanks Smile have felt like this week has just whizzed by though! (not a bad thing) I think I should only have about a week to wait till AF arrives (although really hoping that it doesn't!!) , I certainly don't want to speak to soon , as it might just be the weather being rainy or drinking more drinks today but I have pee'd sooo many times today and have had little tummy twinges here and there (probably got a UTI knowing my luck!!)

mrs Hope your dtd plans go according to how you hope them to, totally understand avoiding internet stuff too much, I think the main reason why I like to come on here is just to say hello and touch base with all you lovely nutters!! Grin. Do let us know how you get on though Smile.

How's everyone else? Smile

AbiBub · 11/05/2013 23:28

Ok, I just have to post this message, just because I really don't want the last message to be on here as post number 666!!! Hope everyone has a fabby Sunday Grin

winterpansy · 12/05/2013 22:10

Evening lovely nutty ladies!

Hope you're all doing OK. I'm great - although I've had morning (!) sickness through the night and this morning. I actually threw up after having to change DSs stinky nappy! Felt a bit better after eating (not the nappy) though so I'll try and nibble on toast if I feel that rough again tomorrow. DH was working all weekend so it was hard going! I'm now 6+1 I think. Holy moly!

Other than that I am on the countdown to Fridays scan.

mummy So glad your cb went up! Hurray! How reassuring. See, it's all going to be alright.

abi How are you? When are you going to test?

gemmeg Glad you had a good time in Hungary. Not long to wait until Thursday now.

Hope everyone else is doing well and getting busy with dtd or waiting as patiently as possible to poas/ovulate Smile

nomoreminibreaks · 12/05/2013 22:15

Evening ladies!

Winter I have the nausea now, it sucks! Only feel ok when I've just eaten, then feel crap again. Plus DS has had a particularly pooey day today and it's really tested me! I have a friend who's pregnant with her first and is complaining about sickness and I'm stopping myself from saying 'try changing nappies!'.

AbiBub · 12/05/2013 22:30

Hey winter sods law you get a bouwt of msickness when DH is away, hope you're feeling better now, that made me chuckle about the nappy bit (the not eating it, obv not the bit about you being sick! !) I found that when I got it with DS just having a bite to eat or drink helped it. First thing in the morning when waking up was the worst! I kept rich tea biscuits in my bedside draw and would have one of those just to help me move and get up without yakking. I also from time to time would have choc that had small squares so that I could just break off a square. Couldn't do gingernuts as they were too strong in taste! The rich tea biscuits worked wonders till I got downstairs to make myself some dry toast!! I hope that helps! Wow 6+1 already, thats fabby! Will you let us know how you get on at the scan please? [Smile]

If I work on the basis that I ov on 5th may that would mean I was 7dpo today, I really dont know when the earliest is I can poas, any suggestions nudges and excuses for a reason why to test as early as poss I really hope this is mine and my OH month for a BFP. Im certainly not feeling any symptoms apart from a few tummy pains, although I did have a teeny bit of nausea last night, but tgat could be anything! !

How are you all my fellow nutters? What thread title do the ladies who have BFP's go onto after here? Feel like I will miss ya all if you move on to new forum!! [Flowers]

AbiBub · 12/05/2013 22:36

nomore sorry to hear you have the nausea too :0/ hope it subsides soon. Was just saying to winter in previous post what I used to do that helped me! --although the pooey nappies is one thay I didnt deal with then, you have my biggest sympathies and a proverbial nose peg!

[Smile]

nomoreminibreaks · 13/05/2013 19:33

Good call Abi on the rich tea biscuits. I wasn't into ginger biscuits last time either. I've added some on to the ocado order for tomorrow along with loads of crackers and apple juice (already had a litre of it today - I was addicted last time too!).

Anyone had any thoughts on boy/girl? Because all the symptoms have been the same so far I'm convinced it's another boy.

gemmeg · 13/05/2013 19:44

I'm having a little worry....I have no symptoms at all really. Not even sore boobs. I know I shouldn't complain but you'd think with such big changes going on in my body I should feel something. Did a bit of exercise today which wiped me out but that's it really. Any of the other pg ladies not have symptoms?

OP posts:
CabbageLooking · 13/05/2013 20:05

Hello Ladies, sorry I haven't checked in for a while. Hope everyone is well. I have scanned through some of the most recent posts but I don't think I have a chance of catching up properly, sorry! So I'll just say mummy - hope you are feeling a little more relaxed by now. Also, gemmeg I know of a few people who had virtually no symptoms (one of whom didn't realise she was pregnant until 5 months in). It does happen and it doesn't mean anything sinister. Enjoy it!

I am due AF on Sunday (the day before I return to work). I was determined to go back pregnant so this really is my last chance on that score. Yesterday I feel sick in the evening and this evening I felt a little queasy again. It would be far too early for that to be a symptom though right?

Not wishing to be indelicate but we've worked bloody hard this month (DH has been coming to bed with a haunted look in his eyes) and I am VERY broody. Wishing luck to everyone else readying to pee. :)

Mummytothearkbuilder · 13/05/2013 20:30

gemmeg I don't have many symptoms either - sometimes I forget that I have actually had a BFP!! I would love to feel rough so that I feel like things are actually happening!! I have spoken to both my midwife and the early pregnancy unit and they both said it is quite early and symptoms might not kick in until later.

cabbage well done on the DTD - fingers crossed for you.

Hello to everyone else!! Hope you are all okay. I am still feeling fairly anxious - just wish I had the excitement that I felt when pregnant with DS but the miscarriage has taken that all away!! When I go for my scan I will be between 6-7 weeks - would be great to see a heartbeat but I think it might be too early xx

StoneBaby · 13/05/2013 21:31

Well I've started ov testing but as I don't know how ling this cycle will be, I'm not feeling confident for this month. Been broody is not even how I can describe how I feel - it took a few years for DH to agree for a 2nd child (mainly for financial reasons) - and now after ttc for 11 months I think it's my time to have a bump. (Sorry if I upset some but this is how I feel but can't say it in RL).

gemmeg don't worry it will be fine

cabbage fx it's for this month
