TTC #2 and turning into a nut job!

Ladies, bring me back down to Earth before it's too late! I'm TTC #2 and its only the 2nd cycle and I'm already doing my own head in not to mention my OH.....we're not the kind of couple to have regular sex when not TTC (much to my disappointment Sad) so it's a real effort for DS to, erm, pull his finger out as it were and DTD every other day. With DS1 I had no idea about CM and OPKs and just used an ovulation calendar for timing but this time round I'm in danger of falling into the OPK trap! I'm aware of my constant whittling and DH even said that he hopes I get pregnant this month so he doesn't have to listen to me begging for him to do it just one more time! Anyone in the same boat?

I'm enormously shocked! In a good way!

gemmeg · 15/04/2013 11:56

Congrats mangomom! I agree with mummy, it's good to hear ladies on this thread having success. I hope the others will agree when I say that we should support each other through the good as well as he frustrating/depressed times. That's 2 BFPs this month....we're on a roll. I'm on the countdown to ov now. Getting started with DTD on Thursday, hurrah!

Hey Ladies!

Hope your weekends were good? Thanks all for the support, I am convinced that its just a delayed period (if I keep telling myself that then anything better is fabby!!) . Still no AF as yet, did another test this morning, and still negative. But I have decided that I am going to wait till this coming sat to POAS and no sooner (and try and keep myself busier than my normal busy!). I am driving myself nuts, so if I try sat then thats a week past my usual AF point. and just keep it till 1 a week if AF doesn't arrive. If I remember rightly the line was not a string one but noticable when I tested for my DS, and I tested at 6weeks 6 days, so it could just be any HCG levels I have are lower anyhow!

mango thats wonderful news :0) So pleased for you! Try and remain upbeat that you are, and hopefully everything will go fabby for you.

Thats 2 BFP this month nw isnt it?! Wonderful Stuff :0) I love feeling positive for people that this happens for, regardless of the situation im in, and its seems we are all likeminded, bunch of lovely ladies :0)

2be you prob tested early bcos your instinct took over, and I totally understand why you wouldn't want to retest yet, perhaps leave it for as long as you can to retest, just in case :0)

petty yayh af turnng up, in once sense its frustrating, but in a far more positive way its a fresh canvas to work from at the beginning of a cycle :0)

mummy Glad DS had a fabby birthday :0) Keeping all pinkies crossed for ov in the up and coming days :0)

winter lets hope your week flies by as fast as mine!! and that your POAS reap good results! :0)

We all seem quite positive (pardon the pun) and upbeat about our situations, which helps i'm sure :0)

can you tell I like my smiley face text version!! :0)

AbiBub · 15/04/2013 13:06

Sorry gemmeg I clearly didnt go to the last page of this thread.... Blush So this week is the fun week Wink then !! Hope ov is all good and dtd does the trick Grin .

ASmidgeofMidge · 15/04/2013 18:01

Congratulations mangomum! Not sure what to make of this mont's TTC. Had quite a long period this time so dtd cd16, 18 (which were either side of the day my phone app reckoned I would ov, and 21 which was when I got +ve opk. DH now on nights for the whole week. Not v sure of my chances this month so feeling a bit down. Need to get a grip really - but then I have joined a nut job thread! Smile

2beornot · 15/04/2013 19:03

Aww smudge! Dtd either side of you're ov date is brilliant, even doing it cd 21 is good because eggs last longer than sperm! Fingers crossed x

Want some more BFPs now though!!

ASmidgeofMidge · 15/04/2013 19:58

Not sure if the cd16 and 18's would play a role tho as no +ve opk til cd21... But heard you ov after +ve opk? So confusing! And I thought sperm live longer than eggs? [easily confused emoticon]
But yes-defo need more bfp's!

2beornot · 15/04/2013 20:13

Ooh maybe you're right-arrrrgh so confusing!!! Well you never know!' It makes me wonder how on earth people like my sis accidentally fall pregnant!!

Mummytothearkbuilder · 15/04/2013 20:42

Evening ladies - please can I have some help - I think I have got a positive opk this evening (I have done 2 and they seem positive) so I need to covertly plan DTD - last cycle DH had some "ahem" issues when it came to ovulation time couple that with me turning into some sex pest it made it very stressful!!

I am on cd21 today - we DTD on cd17 and cd20 so when do you think would be the best times to DTD - I was thinking tonight and Wednesday (cd21 and cd23) - does this sound about right??? I would try consecutive days but think he might realise its ovulation time and get stage fright!! He is just a desperate for #2 as me and felt awful last cycle so really don't want that to happen again and don't want him to feel under pressure to perform.

Any advice would be massively appreciated!! Xx

pettyprudence · 15/04/2013 21:03

Your plan sounds good Mummy - you definitely need to do it tonight and tomorrow would be ideal too. You might just catch the egg on cd23? You are likely to be ovulating in the next 12-24 hours. I also have to try and sneak the dtd in - no tips there I am afraid, looking for some myself.

I have the most stinking cold I think I have ever had in my life so really pleased AF is here and I'm not mid-cycle and trying to dtd!

Congrats mangomom that is fantastic news Grin

Mummytothearkbuilder · 15/04/2013 21:16

Thanks petty - will get cracking on the dtd!! I wasn't expecting to ovulate yet so maybe my cycles are getting a bit shorter which would be good as 45 days is a nightmare!! X

winterpansy · 15/04/2013 21:32

Yay for mango! Brilliant news. Hope it's a good sign for all of us Grin

mummy Your plan sounds perfect. I hope your DH gets over the stage fright - it would be awful for him to feel like he let you down again so covertly seducing is the way forward! As far as I know a +opk means that the day you get it and the day after are the most fertile days but the 5-6 days previously are also very fertile.

We managed to dtd 4 times over the fertile period this month ourselves (and 5 other times before that just to be sure!) so hopefully this will work for us both.

It's great that your cycle is shorter anyway, less time to wait!

Mummytothearkbuilder · 15/04/2013 21:50

Thanks winter - so DTD last night and Thursday would count?? I will try tonight and then what would be best - tomorrow or Wednesday? X

winterpansy · 15/04/2013 22:30

I think tomorrow would be best. Wed might be just too late. Good luck! x

Mummytothearkbuilder · 15/04/2013 23:00

Thanks winter - dtd tonight so will try and do it again tomorrow - that will be 3 nights in a row so think DH will need a long nap afterwards!! I am going to do the OPK tomorrow again - in theory the line should get light again - is that right? X

AbiBub · 16/04/2013 10:53

Morning Ladies! How are you?

Mummy all sounds good so far, lets hope it makes the world of difference! Thats fab that your cycles could be shortening :0)

winter you sound like you have been busy at dtd ;0) all pinkies crossed for you also! :0)

petty sorry to hear you have a stinking cold :0( but phewf its not around the time you are ov Wink. I do however hope you feel better very soon! Grin.

midge Sorry to hear you are feeling down, hopefully the CD18 will have helped, they say without CM that sperm can live up to 72 hours in there, so with CM hopefully it will last longer. Also if you dtd on the night of the cd18 then the first 24 hours would be up by the night of cd19 and so on and so fourth. Keeping all pinkies crossed for you. Grin.Big Hugz

AF still not here for me yet, I keep getting little dull pains, but nothing like I normally get, so not sure whats going on yet. Gonna keep busy this week, and if it hasn't arrived by Sat I will test then (wish me luck!) I dont want to keep testing if all I get is BFN as its disheartening for me, especially as AF still not here. I do normally get a stonker of a headache around AF time, but I havent had that yet, but who knows. My CD are normally around 28 but there have been a few where they have been 30+ up to 35, but that was a few years back, or when i'm on the pill. Who knows!!

Hope everyone has a fabby Tuesday :0)

gemmeg · 16/04/2013 11:40

That all sounds good mummy! I hate trying to get the timing right.

I'm getting all twitchy at the moment as I don't know when to DTD. Last month I ovd on cd20 after 5 days worth of lower abdomen pains. I was hoping things would stay pretty similar this month (ha,ha) which would mean ov nxt Tue but today I started getting twinges which would poss mean ov is going to be early. It's just a job getting DH to DTD when I think is best. We agreed to go at it all guns blazing as of Sat but now I think we should do it earlier. The issue is always that he doesn't want to do it more than 3 times in the fertile window so I'm always trying to time it right. Going to start OPKs today and see if these twinges/pains continue. Maybe I'm just imagining them!

I'm with u abibub....I don't like testing only to keep seeing BFN. I like to hold out til day AF would be due (although I never know when that is these days!). Good luck!

2beornot · 16/04/2013 16:47

Winter hope you're managing to maintain your sanity! This is a hard time because you've done all you can and to some extent it's all down to fate! I hate that it's out of your control! Fingers crossed for you - when is AF due?

Abibub def hold off testing if you can. I hate the thought of the money I waste on my 'peeing on things' obsession! (By things I mean preg test, not just random stuff ha ha)

gemmeg I completely sympathise. I know that before ov is better than after I just don't want either DH or I to burn out before ov happens!! My tricks these past few months have been to say we'll do it either a or b depending on how we feel. Then most of the time I do it on the earliest night (so DH knows we don't HAVE to dtd, but I want to). Also to try and have a night which involves everything but dtd! Just coz again I think it says I want to do this, not I'm only doing this because I want a baby.

Well my news...... I POAS again this afternoon and its definitely a BFP!! I am actually going to have a baby! I can't wait to tell families and start redecorating the babies bedroom!! And to get the maternity clothes down from the loft (and as its our last, DH can't wait to empty the loft!!)

ASmidgeofMidge · 16/04/2013 18:07

Brilliant news 2bear, yay! Thanks ladies for your reassurance-am now in 2ww whether I like it or not so will wait & see! Xx

nomoreminibreaks · 16/04/2013 18:32

Congratulations Mango and 2be!! Haven't checked in for a while but it sounds like its all going on!

Still giving it a break this month and have managed to lose 7/8lbs so far (Atkins). Will feel better knowing I'm starting at the same point as last time rather than behind iyswim.

Hoping to contribute to the BFPs next month!

Mummytothearkbuilder · 16/04/2013 18:40

2be - amazing news!!! Congratulations!!

I have done another opk this evening and 2 dark lines came up straight away so guessing I should try and DTD again tonight - if it doesn't happen will tomorrow be okay - I DTD Sunday and Monday too. I won't be able to do anything Thursday as DH is away overnight.

I'm already panicking about timing and can't let on to DH that I'm ovulating as it makes him feel under pressure!! X

winterpansy · 16/04/2013 19:26

OMG!! 2be That is so fantastic! I'm grinning away here for you Grin

2 bfps in a week - brilliant news. So motivating for us all!

I'm doing OK, 4 dpo now so just waiting not so patiently. I'm utterly exhausted today, almost convinced myself it was an early symptom (as I slept for pretty much the whole 1st trimester last time!) but DS was up at 5.30am this morning and I'm flat out with work so I think it's just that!

My app tells me AF is due on Fri 26th but it could be anytime around then due to my irregular cycles. Not sure when to test. I'd be better off waiting until the 26th but I'll probably start around 22nd. Is anyone else at the same point?

pettyprudence · 16/04/2013 20:25

Congratulations 2be Grin Grin Grin

Mummytothearkbuilder · 16/04/2013 20:47

Just tried the secret seduction following the 2nd opk and it was a no go :-( will try again later but if it doesn't work I will go for it tomorrow and hope that Sunday, Monday and Wednesday are enough - I'm already panicking that we have missed the boat :-( xx
