Hello ladies

I would like to start a thread/bus/merry-go-round to meet, get support and share with ladies in the same boat as me:

TTC baby no 1!

Will you join me and see it through to the BFP?!

A bit about me - I'm 29, DP is 35. This will be our first child.

OP posts:

Morning all,
Wakey and 123 sorry to hear that- positive thinking for you though!
I'm after some advise if anyone can help!
I had ewcm yesterday ( only day) and dtd last night. Today it is watery ( sorry for info!). Is it likely I O yesterday and is my fertile window now passed or should I still be trying to dtd today/ tmrw?
This process can be soooooo confusing! Hope everyone is having a happy Monday!

TheSlug · 11/03/2013 13:32

Blondie- it can't do any harm! Go for it ;)

sairwa99 · 11/03/2013 17:52

Hi everyone, i would like to join if its not too late. Im new to the site and new to the whole baby world! We just started ttc this month, i have been taking my folic acid since 1st Jan as 2013 was the year to start ttc, i want to be prepared and want to feel like im doing something and getting ready. We waited until this month as just been on holiday and didnt want the risk of early preg on holiday etc (if we were very lucky at start of year).

Please can someone tell me what ww2 is? I have worked out AF is 'monthlies' ? Currenly on day 2 of my AF if thats what it is lol!

Looking forward to hearing how its going for everyone and all the BFPs that come out of this thread. I read the 1st few pages and will catch up on the rest soon...

WakeyCakey · 11/03/2013 18:11

Hi sairwa
2ww is the 'two week wait' between ovulation and the start if next AF which is your period. It's the waiting time before you can take a preg test otherwise known as HPT. (H being home)

Are you planning on tracking your ovulation or just going with the flow?

Bambalam · 11/03/2013 19:33

I've been watching this thread since the beginning so thought it was time to jump in! I'm on TTC#1 cycle 1 and the last week's been fun dtd so much - not sure how we ever fell out of the routine of doing it so often!

Is anyone else amazed at how much they've learnt about their body since TTC? I'd been on the pill 12 years almost non-stop so those first +ve OPKs were a relief. Now my abdomen feels permanently crampy but it's another ten days or so before I can test/expect AF I think. Who knows what's going on in there...

sairwa99 · 11/03/2013 19:39

Hi Wakey- thanks for clearing that up! I have an app on my phone that works out when im ovulating, im not very regular so its a bit of both really, have been tracking AF since late last year but still not much of a pattern, kind of planning to DTD every other day when the calendar predicts it and then just doing it as usual the other weeks.
I dont want to worry or be too obsessed by it so early on (although its very hard not to be) and i think i will do the ovulation tests further down the line if it doesn't seem to be working!
Bit scared about it all but very excited, i'm 30 and DH is 31 so its about time we tried ha! Been married almost 3 years and think everyone is kind of expecting it to have happened already! Keeping it to ourselves for time being to keep pressure off!

thanks again for the info... was well confused!

Bartlet4America · 12/03/2013 12:42

Hey everyone. AF due yesterday, but nothing. No pains or anything. But still a BFN. So, never mind!!

TheSlug · 12/03/2013 13:46

Sairwa I'm the same as you, I am using an app on my phone (but don't talk to DH about it!) but don't want to get too worked up about when i'm ovulating etc. We DTD about 2 out of 3 days, so I am hopeful that we'll do it without too much worry. haven't been taking Folic acid though, should i?

sairwa99 · 12/03/2013 16:49

Hi Slug, i read somewhere that you should take folic acid as soon as you find out you are pregnant and i think its for the 1st 3 months, but 'googling' further i read on NHS website thats its better to do it before too. Heres a snippet from the website-

'' quote - The Department of Health recommends that women should take a daily supplement of 400 micrograms of folic acid while they are trying to conceive, and should continue taking this dose for the first 12 weeks of pregnancy, when the baby's spine is developing. ''

Im taking a multi vitamin that includes 400mg, got them from boots when 3for2 was on, they are pre-conception vitamins but you can get just folic acid ones. Is any one else taking them while TTC?

Bambalam- yeah i know what you mean about learning about your body since TTC, ive probably had crampy tummy and wee'd just as much as before but cant help in thinking further into it...

Blondie276 · 12/03/2013 17:33

Afternoon all!

I'm also taking folic acid whilst ttc- they say that you should before due to chance of falling pregnant and the spine being one of first developments of embryo. It also takes a few months for levels to be right after the pill. My other half also takes it daily as it is good for production of healthy sperm!
I'm
Also taking zinc ( for cell divisions ie foetus and growth) and magnesium as apparently deficiency is linked infertitlity and mc ( all according to my book!) as well as multi vitamin

Hope that helps!

I think I O'd on sun or mon so after dtd for the last 6 days in a row ( how I don't know!) I'm now on the 2ww. Not sure how I feel really but appear calm and not obsessing too much about it (yet).

Hope your all having a good day

ticktock1979 · 12/03/2013 17:47

Hello all! Welcome newbies!

I've been taking folic acid since stopping taking the pill. SiL who is very pregnant also bought me some of the pregnacare multivitamins to take after the illusive BFP & first few months of pregnancy.

I've read back through some of my posts & must apologise ladies for my persistent pessimism Smile In RL I am very chirpy!! Grin but I guess TTC makes us all a little crazy!!

Loving the support this thread offers xx

WakeyCakey · 12/03/2013 18:45

I've just been out and bought some folic acid, I didn't think about it at all but I guess it can't hurt!
Waiting for AF to disappear so I can get back on it, stocked back up on opk's so I'm ready to go!

SloeGinFizz · 12/03/2013 20:36

Hi ladies!

I originally joined Mumsnet last year thinking we were going to start trying in December. In the end we decided to wait until now to try sooo now i'm excited!

I stopped taking the pill in Sept 2011 and it's only now that i've had 3 'normal' periods in a row. How crazy that it takes that long to get back to normal!

I'm going to start taking folic acid tomorrow and am looking forward to getting started with TTC number 1! I'm 27 and my DH is 38 - bit of a gap but it works for us!

Looking forward to seeing lots of positive news from you lovely ladies! x

Lozcat86 · 12/03/2013 21:10

Hi Ladies,
I posted awhile ago, we've been trying for a baby for around 18months with no luck.
I was due my period last tuesday - 5th March, i did a test on the thurday which was negative. Felt a little out of the ordinary as i wasnt getting any of my usual 'period' issues so instead of getting sore boobs they just felt heavy, i wasnt having period pains or anything etc. Every day since then i cross my fingers when i go to the loo. Yesterday i started feeling a bit sick in the afternoon and had a slight metallic taste and i was convinced i was imaginging it. I bought a clear blue test this time and tested last night....and got a faint positive. Tested again this morning and got a very definite positive! I can't believe its finally happened. Now im allowing myself to feel all the things i was trying to convince myself werent really happening.
I think im around 4-5 weeks.
so so excited! Hope this gives others who have been trying for a long time some hope.
xxx

Hi All,
First time on here - swore I wouldn't get too sucked into the whole TTC thing but can't help it (DH would be horrified!)! First timer - me & hubby both 28. Came off the pill on New Year's Eve and not had AF yet...! Started TTC just over a week ago, a day or two after CM suggested I might be ovulating... no real idea though!

I know I shouldn't be, as have only just started but SUPER impatient to use HPT - problem is, I have no idea when AF should be, so don't know when to test. HPTs seem ridiculously expensive, so don't want to waste one unless there's a real chance, so holding out til the end of the week at least...

A bit nervous about the whole thing due to family history of problems. My aunt never conceived and ultimately adopted. My mom had no problem conceiving but had 4 MCs and another baby that only lived a few hours... no idea if those sorts of problems are hereditary or not. Trying not to think about it too much as stress is THE biggest inhibitor of getting pregnant!

Fingers crossed anyway...! Smile

ticktock1979 · 13/03/2013 05:32

Grin Lozcat!

Bambalam · 13/03/2013 06:58

TheSlug · 13/03/2013 11:49

Lozcat! Best news ever well done you!

gilly86 · 13/03/2013 17:06

Congrats lozcat! So happy for you and hope we all get the same BFP soon!!! I've just crossed the line and officially in the 2 week wait!

Hoping this is my month! XSmile

Bartlet4America · 13/03/2013 17:21

Getting sick of seeing BFNs now! Still no period :( am carrying on DTD regardless, I figure if my body is as crazy as this, then I may just DTD all month round!!

good luck gilly, hope it goes quickly for you and that you get a BFP!
