Here we go Brookers, it's been a long year with lots of BFPs and newborn snuggles for the Brookers. We're just a sleigh-ride away from 2013, when the rest of us will get our get our 12 week scans (because of course we will all have BFPs under the christmas tree this year!)

A three cycle game, I agree that's how I'm thinking of it. Then being lucky in cycle 1 or 2 is a bonus.

It's a dubious claim to fame for Thailand, gender selection. I'm quite outraged. For genetic diseases, if you can test for sex, can't you test for discard?? I wouldn't put it past the Beckham's. I just googled it and some people call it 'family balancing'...

On the silly DH note, its taken my this long to get mrsparks to understand the concept of being pregnant before I actually ovulate, as in by the time you ovulation you're already 2 weeks pregnant. he just doesnt understand it at all!!!! Ive bought him a book..... he is using it a coaster!!!

wow you ladies are a chatty lot today! I've not been able to keep up

I didn't get my wedding dress cleaned either. It was bagged, but left in the attic for 11 years so I just threw it in the charity bag when I was having a sort-out before we moved house. The prices charities put on wedding dresses round here, I'm pretty sure they could afford to clean it if they wanted to!

keep I'm just so about the gender selection thing. I didn't realise anywhere offered that, for ethical reasons. I'm also not sure how they would manage it with IUI - would they try the ever so reliable egg white trick or something??

maybe I had to really try very hard not to laugh out loud when I read about the ovulation story - I'd not heard that before! Our poor DHs/DPs. Mind you, I did A-Level Biology and we had to learn about pig reproduction in great detail, including all of the different hormones etc, yet until last year I had no idea about half of the necessary details of how to get pg I thought that as long as we had DTD at least once since my last AF, I was in with a chance It all stems from sex ed at school and them drumming it into us that we could get pregnant at any time, you only had to look at a bloke the wrong way - even on your period!

sparks I remember you ladies having to explain that concept to me and it took a while to make sense. I still don't think it makes much sense, particularly when you've got wildly erratic cycles.

I'm really trying to keep my head in the sand about the whole 'three cycles' thing about IVF. We only get two goes on the NHS, and I can't see that we could ever afford to fund a go ourselves so if it doesn't happen in the first two for us it will be game over. I don't want to have to think about that. I'd much rather we all had our ABBs first go.

Oh, keep, quick question for you while I think on - a member f my weight watchers group is moving to Thailand in a couple of weeks and wanted to know if there are weight watchers branches out there. My leader wasn't sure. Have you seen anything like this on your travels?

I still don't really get how 16 year olds get diffed so much easier as surely they still only have one egg. Does it just live longer? I just don't understand - anyone?

Well might be exciting news as just looking at my clinic website and prices have changed from 1st Jan. The treatment we are having has gone down £2k Do you think we will be eligible for the reduced price as we have only had initial consultation and paid donor registration fee so far. We have to pay package cost when we sign and get drugs. We haven't done this yet, but are we considered as started our treatment. I hope we can get the reduced fee!!

Oops sorry for ing you all...DH and I often have this conversation now where we think we are old enough to get away with saying all sorts, you know like grandparents saying really shocking things, my gran used to come out with some real shockers. Perhaps we need to actually be grandparents and actually look like a grandparent before we go down that road however 2 of my nieces call me grandma because I refuse to dye my white hairs, both their mums who are older than me do, but I really can't be bothered with all that faff just yet. I'd also love to be that inappropriate aunt who hugs their nieces & nephews in their ample bosoms and smother them with slobbery kisses but I just don't have the ample bosom and it's usually them who give me slobbery kisses! I only just about get away with ruffling my 16 year old nephews carefully coiffured, gelled hair!!

Keep eeek, exciting times, looking forward to you confirmation in 2 weeks time! We're also looking at ivf being a 3 maybe 4 cycle lottery process. One cycle at a time though. How are you coping being a lady of leisure now?

Sweetie that is great news re a £2k reduction, if they've not given you a guide price/quote and you've not technically started your cycle then I would have thought the new price is what they should be charging you. That is a substantial saving, brooking!

cup I've not heard of any WW here, but then haven't been looking. Thai people are almost never fat, they tell you it's from the heat and spicy food, so can't imagine they'd do WW, but there are quite a lot of expats in bangkok (will she be here?) So there's probably something.

sweetie that's amazing potential news about the cost! You've not technically started your cycle yet, in my opinion. I hope they are reasonable, and if you've not signed anything with the costs I think you should be OK. You can spend that 2k on baby stuff!

geek you will of course be successful in cycle one or two. But if not you will have plenty of cheap frosties for a cheap third cycle, or second baby!!

Dh is excited this cycle. Normally over the last year he's not. Tbh I'm finding it lovely, but also worrying, as iui success rates are so low. I don't want to put him off though but it'll be hard to deal with his disappointment as well as my own.

I've had the most awful dream
we went for the scan and it was bad news then they said it was best not to try again as my k cells were too bad . it seemed so real. just had a massive cry.

face it's totally natural for you to be worried! Just take every day as it comes!!

Oh Face don't worry, like Sparks said worrying is totally normal, also vivid dreams are another side effect of the hormonal roller coaster you are on the sex dreams are the best though I know it's hard though.

I've been trying to tell myself its just a dream not a premonition and put it out of my head. ill look forward to 'those' dreams then boo

Face Ive had some weird and wacky dreams, especially since getting pregnant, last night I was crying and talking in my sleep, apparently I was really upset because I didnt know how to dress a baby and was concerned they were going to take it off me!! I've got 2 neices and 2 nephews, all of which Ive helped dress from a young age, so not relly a skill Im actually concerned about, but it still made my hysterical last night!!!!

When are you having your scan?
