Those waiting to ttc... (slightly pointless thread)

We're ttc #2 in dec and I know it's a really silly thing to get excited about, but just started taking folic acid and feeling very excited about it!

Sorry for the pointless thread.

Leafmould sorry, can't really recommend an app. The one I use is pants to be honest - it has a glitch where it always wants to put my notes a day ahead and I have to outfox it by trying to write them on the day before - but I can't be bothered to change as I have months of period data logged on it. Also weirdly superstitious about it.

I did try to download 'pink pad' but I think my phone isn't new enough. Not sure if Tigerseye uses that one, vague feeling she mentioned it. Perhaps have a trawl around iTunes?

(Oh, thanks, survived the glue gun session - only took a bit of skin off one of my fingers this time)

LoveYouForeverMyBaby · 23/11/2012 18:53

Thank you bourbons and twojacks, I guess the reason I irriationally worry about concieving #2 is because we had such an easy time concieving dd, that I worry I've used up all my good luck and this time round is bound to be harder...stupid arent i. Also doesnt help I'm cd17 and still not ovulating.
Thank you bridget I needed that talking to! Am such a worrier, its exhausting.

Mythreeknights, TooMuch: I'm not so worried about DP chickening out, but myself! Have you spoken to him about it yet? I think it takes a bit of getting used to the idea.

I've always in the past thought it quite lucky I've not yet conceived, considering how few precautions I took in my teens! But now I find myself hoping it'll come easily, its a weird situation to be in.

Hopefully the fact that I didn't get up the duff before doesn't mean I'm hopelessly infertile...

OrbisNonSufficit · 23/11/2012 19:40

Evening all. I need your opinions - is it weird that I've started to try to figure out maternity clothes when (a) I'm not even going to TTC until April, and (b) I'm not actually doing the things I'm supposed to be doing yet, like writing down when my period arrives? Clothes just seem like something I can cope with, everything else seems too hard to control, too medical, or too scary Smile... AND I have discovered that if you have a list of little-known maternity designers you can find some AMAZING things on eBay... I think it's called Distraction By Shopping...

Witchesbrewandbiscuits · 23/11/2012 19:56

Had a quick scan of messages. To whoever mentioned my nickname, thanks, just too lazy to change following Halloween.

Best be positive if someone is threatening to sing ha.

But on a serious note, having had two mmc following a healthy dc. It is so easy to become consumed with why's? And certainty that its destined to happen again. My biggest fear is that it will happen late pregnancy, which I am certain I couldn't cope with. BUT this of course is totally irrational and I have as much chance of it going right. So for those of you feeling the same way, lets make a pact to be positive. It's normal to have a normal pregnancy, lets focus on that.

To all of you ready to poas, fingers crossed Smile

Witchesbrewandbiscuits · 23/11/2012 19:57

Orbis, if its ok for me to be naming my un conceived baby now then it's def ok for you to shop Wink

TwoJackRussellsandababy · 23/11/2012 20:07

painted Having tried for a wee while to get pregnant with the Boy, the funniest thing was the realisation that it's actually quite hard to fall pregnant, there's like a one in four chance or something so all those threats when we were teenagers that looking the wrong way at a boy would get you duffed up weren't quite true!! On the positive side at least you have a good chance if you have sex enough/at the right time then you will have a baby sooner rather than later.

Orbis I think focussing on maternity clothes is quite natural, it is something that you can control whereas as you said the rest of it is just a wee bit scary!

AnnoyedAtWork · 23/11/2012 20:11

twojacks having fallen pregnant with dd at 18, I am super paranoid as the unprotected sex was just before period due, I was SO sure I wouldn't get pg! Bet that super fertile ness is only when you are not supposed to get pregnant?!!

Sunshine2013Hopefully · 23/11/2012 20:21

Thanks for the reassurances tiger, I just went shopping and came home with a pair of leather trousers and a pregnancy test, what a weird combo! Lol .. I'm gona test in the morning, altho I don't think I am I hav no symptoms at all!

loveyouforever I am also a control freak, whenever I get stressed trying to plan the unexplainable, I just try and remember that eventually I'll get pregnant and this time where it's just me and my dh will b a thing of the past! So I'm enjoying the drunken night's, and peanuts and sex just for fun right now! So don't stress just come join my club its fun! :)

orbis I hav also been looking at maternity clothes, and nursery furniture and baby clothes - it's fun, not weird (well that's what I keep telling myself! ;)

witches sorry to hear about ur mmc but I think ur attitude is reli inspirational, I'm sure it will happen for u soon. As it will for all of us girls! Xxx

OrbisNonSufficit · 23/11/2012 20:50

Witches, TJR & Sunshine I feel so much better now. This is why I come here, moral support you can't get anywhere else Grin. Can't really tell anyone else about my newly acquired eBay stalking habit - DH is convinced I'm mad but he's tolerant of that kind of thing... (witches I've been considering names too... although more in the 'what not to do' sense...)

OrbisNonSufficit · 23/11/2012 21:22

witches you will definitely be ok, stay positive. I have two friends who've had MCs between babies, with #2 in both cases completely healthy and happy (and I'm sure there are more, it's not something people talk about).

BridgetandtheHairyBrigands · 24/11/2012 08:52

Good morning Sunshine - any news? Hoping you are feeling ok, whatever the result.

Sunshine2013Hopefully · 24/11/2012 09:35

Morning Bridget well still no af, my luteal phase has now reached day 18 but just did a preg test and got a bfn!! Hate my stupid body sometimes! Awell :)

BridgetandtheHairyBrigands · 24/11/2012 10:10

Oh Sunshine that's pants! Those horrible sticks and their annoying single lines.

AF hasn't shown up so I won't uncross my fingers just yet..

LoveYouForeverMyBaby · 24/11/2012 12:08

sunshine it aint over til af appears...positive vibes to you!

Witchesbrewandbiscuits · 24/11/2012 12:09

Ooh that's very encouraging orbis, thanks. I am of the mind that its just one of those things and u need to be positive. Doesnt feel that way at the time but u have to pick yourself up and carry on. Has just knocked my hormones for six that's the only thing. But like u say, it's great to come on here and chat to ppl who are in the same boat.

Fingers crossed sunshine, cycles are a pain aren't they?!

Sunshine2013Hopefully · 24/11/2012 12:52

Ach thanks everyone. We arent planning to TTC until January so I'm not overly bummed at the bfn, just more annoyed at my cycles! I need them to b more regular for the sake of my sanity for when I do start trying!! Lol

TigerseyeMum · 24/11/2012 13:00

Morning. Going to visit an old friend today to have a squish of her 1 year old. I'm not great with babies, so we'll see how that goes!

I do indeed use Pink Pad, not sure how accurate it is but will use opk's next month to see if it tallies.

Blimmin freezing here, walked loopy by Thames which has burst its banks, we all came back brown. AF has finally buggered off, only 1 minor spot in the end, can cope with that. Still cramping though.

Last time I came off the pill I had the most amazing ovulation pain, I could feel that egg karate kick its way down the tube! Mind you, it is a bit cobwebby in there!

BridgetandtheHairyBrigands · 24/11/2012 13:44

Afternoon Tigerseye - hope you have a great time with your friend. If the baby squishing doesn't go well, just remember it's totally different when they are your own. I'm still not a huge fan of looking after other people's children. It makes me nervous even though I'm fine with Mini Bridget.

Shafting down with rain here. Daft Dog had a rubbish short walk as I had to drag Mini around with me (Mr H is away this weekend indulging his hobby). Now the house stinks of damp dog and she won't settle because she hasn't had enough exercise. Arrrrgh, days like this do make me wonder how I'd cope with a baby to manage too.

BridgetandtheHairyBrigands · 24/11/2012 13:59

Cycle day 17 for me and suddenly seem to have EWCM again. Makes me think perhaps I never actually ovulated earlier in the week. If I am egg popping now, I'm definitely out for this month (no sperm in the vicinity whatsoever). It'll be interesting to see if I end up being a few days later than normal.

Oh well, September babies are just as gorgeous and I quite like the idea of lots of festive frolics Wink

LoveYouForeverMyBaby · 24/11/2012 17:09

bridget Did you use a opk at all? and what does online calculators say?

I think sperm can last up to 5-7 days in you so you might still be in with a chance? Firmly crossing fingers for you!

Cd 18 for me and still no positive from a opk or any chances in cm.

OP posts:
TigerseyeMum · 24/11/2012 17:17

LOL at 'no sperm in the vicinity', like you'd just randomly go out and hunt some! Can u get an opk, quick, just to confirm?

On way to babysquishing. Rain on M3 horrendous. Loopy asleep on duvet in back.

Witchesbrewandbiscuits · 24/11/2012 19:26

Know exactly what u mean sunshine.

Iwish · 24/11/2012 20:08

Hi all.

Can I join?

I'm 27 and have a 14mo DS. We aren't ttc till around July 2013 but am not currently on birth control anyway so wouldn't be bothered if I did get pg.

Xxx
